Automotive Books

My uncle started his own auto service business this year but did not have much clue about how to and what to. Then I searched for books but found only few of them useful. This is one of the helpful books I read, in addition to Robert Weber's Opportunities in Automotive Service Careers, ISBN 0071381953. However, this one being reviewe is much more specific and has step by step guides which is plain and simple. Highly recommended.

I found this volume (one of eight) helpful in getting me started in redefining my business. It covers how do get a grip on where things are currently, as well as lay a pathway to where you want to go in the future.

This book is nothing short of a life saver!! It tells in great, UNDERSTANDABLE, detail on how to set labor rates and parts prices, as well as how to figure and understand key profit indicators. With this information you can not only get a handle on what is right and what is wrong, but also communicate with your banker and accountant.
This is the third book (I think) in an eight book series, and even though it stands alone, I found it helpful to read the volumes leading to it.

This volume (one of eight) is about customer relations, what it truly is, how to measure it, and what our real roll, as service providers, is.
I found it helpful in redefining what I need to do to keep my current clients, and win new ones.

This is a text book and is written for working automotive technicians. It covers everything from what basic tools you need to the functions of the component parts of every common steering and suspension design. I've learned a lot from it. The book is well written, layed out and edited.

If you are looking for a book on building race car suspensions, raising or lowering your vehicle - you might want to look somewhere else. If you are studying for an automotive certification this is the best book I've found. It has quizzes at the end of each chapter. It's full of tips, real world examples and diagnostic tricks. There are lots of pictures and illustrations. Included with the book is a coupon for an online ASE practice certification exam. I don't know what's on the CD.

This book througly explains the working of an automotive suspension and gives good tips on how to diagnose problems on any vehicle.

Buy it now. I have other driving books, some good, some not so... this one, EXCELLENT! Teh technique of driving is what so many people just do not understand, this tells you and then shows you in superb pictures. I recommend this book for beginning drivers as well as experienced racers. This is one of those books that you will learn something no matter who you are, after all, Senna was the greatest ever! This is my nine month old sons FAVORITE book. We've read it every night for a few months now. It's always the first book he pulls out of his basket. He loves turning the pages and looking at the brightly colored drawings! Plus he's able to play with it like a toy.

I throughly enjoyed this book. Barney gives several humorous tales from his years as an MRN broadcaster as well as close calls while on the job. This book is a great read and a must for any race fan. I just hope we can get him to stay on the radio a few more years. THERE IS NO ONE LIKE BARNEY HALL!!!!
