This book has most information about Chevrolets I have ever seen. I really like Chevrolets, but could never find all of the info I needed for them. If models are look exactly alike, the book doesn't skip them. It talks about ALL models for that year. With black and white pictures of every one. If your after Chevrolets this is a very good book. I'm going to get the other Standard Catalog American Car books with Buicks, Cadillacs, Chrysler, etc. This is an excellent book!

I currently need to research production data for my websiteand club members, this book contains vast collections of Chevrolet production data not available in any other place. The book is laid out great and is easy to use.

I frequently go to hot rod shows and while I am fairly knowledgible of 1948 and up I wanted a referece for the early years. I enjoy the pictures to compare years and the production counts by year, model and engine etc.

This book is a very well organized catalog of all FoMoCo vehicles (except truck based vehicles) from the company's early years to 2002 models. Each model is listed with a good description of options, engine choices, production numbers, historical notes, etc. Overall the book is informative and interesting. Having all this info in one place makes "Standard Catalog of Ford" a must for any Ford fan! Go buy it!

If your just starting out in racing, I highly recommend this book. The sections that are most interest for me were the chapters on driving lines and the chapter on how to read tire temperatures after coming off track. From my view-point since I am the set-up guy, reading tire temps is invaluable. Other than the driver input, this is the only other input you have at the track that tells you what the car is actually doing. Great info in my opinion with this book.

I love racing, watching and participating. I like to know about all the technical stuff that other fans might not care about, and this book does a good job explaning all of the thing a racecar driver must know to be successful. Being involved in local racing, and hoping to someday be a professional, I found this book informative and helpful. Aspiring young racecar drivers must read Stock Car Driving Techneques, by Don Alexander. However, the common race fan might not finde the book very interesting. Talk of traction circles and spotter communication might bore some readers. In short, good for racecar drivers, borring for fans.

This book rebuts both environmentalists and road lobbyists, by explaining why neither expanded transit nor expanded roads will have significant impacts upon congestion: expanded transit is of minimal value because it affects so few people (except perhaps in downtowns), expanded roads don't work because of what Downs calls "triple convergence" -- when a road is built it fills up because (1) drivers who used alternative routes switch to the new or widened road, (2) drivers who avoided rush hour start traveling during rush hour, and (3) drivers who used public transit switch to the improved expressway. (And triple convergence doesn't even take into account the long-run congestion that results when people move to be near a widened or new expressway, thus causing additional ridership increases). The only solution is to reduce demand for transportation, by encouraging ride sharing through tolls, fuel tax increases and other unpopular steps. In short, the most effective ways of reducing congestion are also the least politically popular.

I have used Anthony Downs, "Stuck in Traffic" for three years for a short course in urban transportation planning. Students find it clear and yet realistic on how simplistic solutions like "building more highway lanes" have unintended consequences that cancel out the gains.

He also looks at urban planning solutions, and shows that some gains might occur from increasing housing densities from very low to low or moderate, but most other solutions have little effect.

Finally, the most powerful solutions, including higher gasoline taxes, increased public funding for transit, and tolling on highways are also the least palatable politically.

Downs, an economist, is strong on the economic aspects of transportation, and has a good grasp on the planning issues. The book does not cover any of the engineering details of possible schemes.

Overall, an clearly written and strongly argued book.

My dad was a Studebaker dealer and I grew up reading everything I could about the company. Following them through the early to mid fifties was agony. This is a very detailed description of their rise, near demise, and eventual failure. Excellent history and nostalgia. Actually a bit sad but I could not put it down.

Explores the nature of the company rather than just the products. The insights are revealing and the style is engaging. The lessons from this study can be applied to the success and failures of the other American automotive manufacturers. It is valuable for both the automotive enthusiast as well as the student of management and business.

When I was Christmas shopping I decided to buy this book as a gift for myself. It may be the best gift I get this year. I've been to Sturgis almost every year since 1980, which is just about the period this book covers. I've seen all the changes Michael Lichter's photos cover. Michael Lichter is a true biker, and it shows in his photography. He loves motorcycles, he loves bikers, and he loves the Sturgis rally. That is clear in every page of this book.

I have yet to visit South Dakota and the Sturgis rally, yet I can console myself with Michael Lichter's wild and beautiful photography. Dave Nichols, the Editor of Easyrider, writes a snappy intro that expresses how close to the edge Lichter goes to capture a powerful image and the photos reflect that wild dangerous edge as do some of the people pictured...and of course these are my favorite photos! The "just married" image which is a posterior shot of both the bike and the couple is juxtaposed with sheer perfection -- the young woman's stunning body and the gritty image of the beer cans attached to the bike. You can almost hear the rumble of the bike and the beer cans banging against pavement in celebration of their biker union and this is just one of many standouts. The bikes and the people are more unusual than what you see on the Discovery Channel. Bottom line...If you can't get to Sturgis, South Dakota, this book rocks and if you have been there, you still want this book because it documents 20 years of a very wild ride, gritty, wonderful crazy people, and beautiful American countryside.

This item was purchased as a gift for our niece as a substitute for the real thing :) She loved it.

The photography and detail of this book sets it above many others. Well worth the purchase. Makes a great gift!!

I added this to the factory service manual as it provides a great source of information on "how to" get a job done and some side notes on specialty tools. I do a lot of my own work including engine rebuilds and found this to be a good reference.

This manual was in excellent condition. It was shipped promptly.
Though I would not recommend buying this manual if your not familiar with the metric system. Look for an actual Suzuki made manual, you know one made from the manufacturer. It will serve you much better.

My 2 year old son absolutely LOVES all of the books in the series - I sometimes find him "reading" the books to himself! The artwork in the books is amazing & really fascinates the kids. I highly recommend these books to any little boy (or girl!) that loves trucks, trains, cars, planes, trains or rockets. It's really nice to find childrens books with great content & beautiful pictures.

My 3 year old memorized this book before I knew it. He knows all his opposites- long: short, many lights:no lights, gas powered: soloar powered! Get this and Collicut's 3 others "This Train", "This Boat" and "This Plane." Perfect for the toddler/preschool boy.

This is an excellent book. The author writes about the early Vanderbilt Cups, the Savannah races and early Indy 500's. It is lively and easy to read. All parts fit together well and the author also discusses current events around the world that happened during the times of the races. I'be been reading books about automobile racing for over 40 years and this was one of my favorites. I hope Mr. Burns has more books in the pipeline.

A great read! My interest in history led to my reading this recommended book. Not only does the author write the history, but also he connects this history to events in the U.S. and abroad. A great deal of technical information is included for those who have this interest.

And how refreshing to read a book that is truly well-written. This author knows language and how to use it effectively. I also enjoyed his use of pictures (reprints of photos) to enhance the text.

I'm now buying it as a gift for others. That's the highest rating I can give a book.
