Automotive Books

This book shows classic pickup bodies, some with modern engines, very clearly. The photos are exceptionally vivid in color. The chosen trucks are highly interesting, and the settings for the photographs very well chosen.

I was not even aware it was possible to produce a book with level of clarity in the photographs. As a photographer myself, I was left wondering precisely how the photographs were done. i.e. Shutter speed, fstop, film type, filters, camera, lens and lighting. While the subject of the book, trucks, is not photography, the pictures, none the less, could serve as models of vehicle photography. Even a single paragraph on the topic would be appreciated by this reviewer. In a lucky world, perhaps the author or someone else familiar with the production techniques will further comment.

My three year old son loves trucks, and this book has been a nice vehicle to help us share some time together.

If you like pickups from the beginning up until the 1950's, this is for you. Excellent photography, highlights some models not usually done (Diamond T, Hudson, Reo). Good home-grown stories about each one (where it came from, what the owner is like, et al) makes this book one of my favorites.

Beautifully presented book with excellent coverage of a wide range of American truck makes and excellent pictures of both popular and rare models. Absolutely brilliant!

I'm crazy about american trucks, and this book was one of the few things I bought the first time I went to the U.S. last year. I've read it many times and I'm sure it must be one of the best books ever made, about american trucks . The support text is very comprehensive, and many of the photos are just incredable. It will be a classic very soon.

How can you not like anything written by Bev Kimes. Excellently researched, engagingly written, great for automotive history buffs.

This book covers into detail the interesting background and the stories behind the men in the early american car industry. It also connects well known and short lived cars into a story that clears the picture of the early american car era. It is well written and a lot of fun reading. A must for anyone interested in early american cars.

A thorough and comprehensive work. Well laid out. The challenge now is to update this resource every year! I hope to hear more from brilliant young authors like Andy Bucholz.

Finally, an easy to read, illustrated authority on the plethora of police and security systems and equipment in use today. Should be on the shelf of every law enforcement team in the US.

This is a nice overview of Pontiacs of 50's 60's and early 70's. A lot of nice full color pictures and several nice facts in an easy to read format. Many of the cars are "real" and not picture perfect collectors, this adds a nice touch. A good book for light reading and to see different models and options of Pontiacs!

This book gives you a high level overview of most of Pontiac's performance cars. It is not all inclusive but is very good for people who don't need extensive detail on every fast Pontiac ever built. The text is accompanied by several nice color pictures.

I found this book interesting, funny and sometimes even realistic in the situations presented by the author. On one hand, there is real and scientific data to support any of her statements. For all I care, she may only put the information collected just from her dates, or friends' dates, but the fact is that it makes you think and even analize your own issues in a relaitionship that went bad. It really helped me to look at my life, my relationship and how it ended and how to try again with a better and funnier idea of how to start a new relationship from a new perspective. Overall, I found the book, interesting, funny and an awakening to my own experiences. I think every one should read it and take from it whatever really touched you. It is not be a cookbook on relationships. It is not to be taken as all women should turn into one. It is to pick from it what will work for you! I liked it!

Although I have and frequently peruse a number of books related to the Porsche 356, Maltby's offers factory photographs I have never seen before! Great photos, interesting and concise text. Anyone interested in the 356 would enjoy this book.

First published as a hard cover book in 1980, this paperback reprint of an old favorite is an absolute must-have for any 356 enthusiast. A first-rate journalist, Denis "Jenks" Jenkinson will be familiar to readers of Motor Sport, or Road & Track in the '60s and '70s. The book starts with a brief history of Porsche, then moves into the performance and racing history of the 356 models. Throughout, Jenks describes his adventures in his own 356, as well as his many drives in factory street and racing 356s. His stories are accompanied by many good black and white photos. Osprey has updated this version of the book with a color photo section that adds to the enjoyment. Great writing, good photos -- a bargain at the price.

It is a great book, a must have for any 356 enthusiast. I also recommend it for the ones who doesn't know much but want to know more about 356's.

If you own an early 911 or want to get one, do not hesitate to grab this book while you can. Every detail from year to year is greatly written in excellent detail. You will find mistakes and wrong pictures on other 911 books, this book accuracy is top notch.

This book is an excellent reference item, it covers some of the more interesting things that came out of stutgart during this period. A number of the photo's I have never seen before,wurtenberg police at their best with their 912 poliezi
car and helicopter, zasada driving his 912 to victory at the polish rally,many public relations and advertising photos, two factory photos stand out, the color photo from the assembly line is awsome, and the 100,000th car although
I have seen before is still great. The text information that is presented I believe is accurate. I would have given more info
on serial number breakdowns (stats) but that is objective. The overall flow of the book works very good. I consider this book a must for a 60's porsche enthusiast. This book is one the top five written on this subject matter.

This book is superb. It is logically organized, clearly written, and extremely well illustrated. One of the best books of its' type in my library. I vastly increased my knowledge of the Powerglide transmission by reading this book. It has enough detail that ius worth re-reading and certainly keeping as a reference.
