What a book! Its an all color book.Color photos of each year model, interior photos and detailed information make this one of the ultimate reference books on first generation Mustangs.

Covers all the GT's,GT/CS,1968 1/2 Cobra Jet,Mach1,Boss 302,Boss 429,Grande and Shelby mustangs. This book has got the lot.Its a softcover book and its very high quality and highly researched by these well known Mustang authors:Larry Dobbs,Donald Farr,Jerry Heasley and Rick Kopec. These guys know their mustangs and this book proves it.

I also recommend a similar book:
"Ford Mustang:1964-1/2 to 1973:Orginality guide for restorers and scale model builders".By Pat Covert.(A Musclecar Tech book.)

Ever wonder....

"What options were available for my year Mustang?"
"What options were included in the Mach 1 package for my 69/70/71/72/73?"
"What is the REAL difference between a 64 1/2 and a 65???"

The answers are contained in this book.

I've been restoring Mustangs since I was 19, back in 1989. This book is one of the first that I bought and has been with me ever since. I use it all the time, referencing ID codes, engine combos, options packages and a multitude of other details. This is one of the most comprehensive and accurate volumes that you will ever purchase. Personally, I'm on my third copy.

The book details year-to-year body and trim changes, interior and exterior options, powertrain combinations, paint/trim combinations, as well as a complete VIN # and Data Plate decoding matrix. It is written in a factual, yet easy to read manner that is not interjected with any form of opinion, slant or spin.

Since you are reading this online, I can assume that you may have been to some of the Mustang discussion forums on the Internet. The amount of incomplete, twisted and just plain wrong information that is tossed around by some of the posters is phenominal. If you have ever questioned the postings of another user, I heavily recommend you get this book.

Whether you already own, or are considering the purchase of a 64.5~73 Mustang, this book should be in your library. It can make the difference between a great purchase and a "What the heck did I buy?" purchase.......

Seriously, just buy this book..........

While having owned and restored several Mustangs, I have also owned all three editions of The Mustang Red Book. This book is a most valuable resource for anyone looking to buy a Mustang. It has an incredibly comprehensive listing of specifications, part numbers, options, and prices for each year, and is essential for cracking Mustang ID codes. You need this book!

I own over 20 Mustang books and can honestly say this is one of the best out there. If you are interested in the SN-95 Mustang this book is for you! The majority of this book is about the development and introduction of the SN-95. It has great color photos and cutaway drawings. It also contains great information and pictures of earlier models. This book will impress you and is a steal at the current price.

This book covers the Ford Mustang up through model year 1994. It has chapters dedicated to Mustang prototypes and toys and models, in addition to Ford Mustangs and Shelby Mustangs. Also includes a chapter on buying a vintage Mustang, and a chapter on Mustang advertising. A well rounded book with lots of pictures.

A Must-Read For Every Automotive Enthusiast
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2001-04-21
A living legend in automotive journalism and racing, Paul Frère weaves his fascinating life story through the cars he has owned, tested and raced. This autobiography is jam-packed with historical and technical information that Frère lived through and experienced personally. Starting with the family car in the 1920s, Formula-One racing in the 50s, winning LeMans in 1960, with Olivier Gendebien, to writing about, helping develop, and driving cars for the 21st Century, Monsieur Frère, at the age of 84, still routinely test drives today's automobiles and racecars at over 150 mph!

An intimate, unique viewpoint on the history of the automobile, as fun as a fast drive down the German Autobahn- with no speed limit!

My father and I just got back from visiting The Nethercutt Museum. The book does a great job of bringing the museum home with you. If you can get to the museum you can pick up a copy of the book at the reception desk for [money]-a bargain.

Great Book for Great Cars

For the first time, all of the automobiles in the Jack Nethercutt Collection are pictured in one book! This book exhibits all the characteristics a book on automobiles should have. Using it's horizontal format to great advantage, photographer Dennis Adler displays all of the cars in all their glory. Mr. Adler understands his subjects and each photograph shows exactly what the viewer would wish to see. The text is short, concise, and highly accurate. Due to space limitations, there is little technical data. This is not missed. Also touched upon, are the Nethercutts' collection of mechanical musical instruments-- pianos and automotive mascots. This book has my highest recommendation and exhibits better photography and more taste than some books costing many times over.

Incredible insight into passenger rail and the US
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2007-10-10
New Departures is a fantastic look at what other cultures are doing right with passenger rail, and what America (and Canada, for that matter) is doing wrong. It's really a one of a kind volume, because so many books on Amtrak take highly polarized views of what should occur with that agency. Instead, Anthony Pearl illustrates rail policy that actually works in several countries around the world, and explains America's failed attempts at high speed rail. He does not make political judgments (such as Joseph Vranich's "End of the Line" and "Derailed" do), but rather succinctly provides a wealth of information about what actually works. I walked away from New Departures with an immense wealth of knowledge about passenger rail policy and its history in the US and the world. This book is an absolute must-read for anyone interested in passenger rail policy and Amtrak.

Rare Insight into the Fog of Transport Policy
Helpful Votes: 9 out of 10 total.
Review Date: 2002-06-28
I found the book to be the most insightful analysis of passenger rail at the global level I've ever seen. It is a great resource for anyone involved in policy, or for someone who just wants to know 'why we don't have trains like Japan or Europe'. To his credit, Dr.Perl does not come up with a crystal-clear solution for the future of Amtrak. This is reflective of the reality of the mix of economics and politics that is US transport policy, namely that: funding for passenger rail is a subsidy, but funding for road and air is infrastructure.

As Comprehensive As It Gets
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2002-09-26
From the earliest to the newest and all points in between. Cars from America as well as cars from overseas. Probably every known car and car maker are in this book. Packed full of information so much that it seems almost impossible to believe that their is so many cars that have been built throughout this span of time. Could be more detailed however on certain cars such as the Cobra Jet Mustang, or others, but all in all very immense in facts and scaled to such a wide variety of cars that it doesn't leave many out if any at all.
