Automotive Books

This is an excellent source of information. Granted, you have to be a true fan of Jaguar racing cars, Le Mans, but it is a rich publication. As a lifelong model car builder, this is a wonderful source of photos and details that I use regularly.

To any lifelong Jaguar buff, the name LeMans has magical connotations and Paul Parker's book is quite simply the best that is currently available on Jaguar's legendary association with that hallowed race.
One particularly welcome feature of the book is how each year and it's events have their own individual chapters, from 1950 all the way to 1995. The two appendixes listing Jaguar's drivers and the second listing the cars and their drivers by year are also most welcome.
My only regret about "Jaguar at Le Mans" is that there were not any more color photos to illustrate the 1850s and 60s, instead of just the 80s and 90s races, this however is only a minor complaint in an otherwise superlative book. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate it an 8 or 9 and only the lack of more color photography keeps it from being a 10. Despite this, "Jaguar at Le Mans" is a must -have for any Jguar racing buff. This book is and essential companion to any parts manuals, service manuals, or "How to" manuals for a first class XKE restoration. It has been around for many years and has yet to be tagged with an error. A must-have for any XKE owner.

This book describes in detail the Series 2 and Series 3 E-type changes during production and lists serial number changes for the restorer who must know exactly the equipment on his/her vehicle. The black/white photographs are very detailed, and a handy reference. As always though, the exact serial number model of a specific change can be in doubt, so a good cross-reference guide on Series 3 is"Jaguar V-12 E-Type: A Guide to Authenticity" by Richard T. Russ with color photographs and details on the plating and color of various nuts, bolts, and equipment. The Restoration Guide, in my opinion, is an excellent companion to your sevice manual and parts catalogue.

This is a fantastic book. It's great to see the two earliest E-Types in existence, featured in the same pages. Someone looking for volumes of technical and restoration information will be disappointed, but the photography is excellent. The book also features photos not often seen in color, as well as early (and now rare) brochure material. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has even a passing interest in E-Types. It's an excellent value for the money.

This book is superb! Beautiful photographs of many E-Types and in the writing style that author Nigel Thorley is known for make this one of the best,affordable books on the E-Type.

I have read many car books, but this one really succeeds at telling the story it wants, about all of the products of the Jaguar firm, not just the fancy ones. Good pictures, excellent product information, and even production numbers for most models.

I bought this book for my son, and I ended up reading it first. I found it very informative in both aspects (Jeff's personal endeavor and the world of racing as a whole)and would highly recommend it to all.

Nora Faires (Associate Professor of History) and Nancy Hanflik (Co-Curator of the Sloan Museum exhibition "A Century of Jewish Life in Flint") deftly collaborate to present Jewish Life In The Industrial Promised Land 1855-2005, an examination of the history of Jewish families and daily life in Flint, Michigan, an industrial boomtown famous for its decay into rustbelt poverty when General Motors slashes jobs and closed plants. The Jewish community of Flint was comprised of many strains, including immigrants from a variety of nations; collectively, they were not invested directly in the automobile-driven economy but rather worked as storekeepers, entrepreneurs, and professionals; and they were affected as severely as everyone else when General Motors' closings caused the local economy to crumble. Black- and-white photographs illustrate this detailed chronicle of all aspects of an enduring and faithful community.

The century and a half time frame covers Flint, Michigan, from its origins as a major industrial city, through the prosperity its inhabitants enjoyed in the decades when the automobile industy was the centerpiece of the American economy, until the last decades of the 20th century when Flint along with other major industrial centers fell into decline with the success of foreign automakers. During this long time, the lives of Flint's Jewish inhabitants reflected the general condition of the other residents. While Jews never participated in the well-paying and long-term factory work for the automobiles, they took part in the ups and downs, promising prospects and economic worries, affecting those involved in auto manufacturing and their families as shop owners, doctors and other professionals, and entrepreneurs in the areas of services for other city residents. Fairies and Hanflick's history of the Jews of Flint using their "own analytic framework and interpretive lens, but using the community's words and perceptions to help guide the analysis...and give shape and substance to the story" entails ecletic content. This ranges from oral history, many photographs from all periods, profiles of leading Jews, and social and economic history. All this is brought together coherently and informatively in this combination of regional, urban history and minority, Jewish study following mainly the assimilation and fortunes of the generations of the city's Jewish community. Both authors are connected with Michigan universities.

This book contains all specs for two cylinder John Deere tractors including serial number reference guides. I have used it a number of time when I am looking at buying another tractor.
