Automotive Books

This book is filled with great suggestions of places to go and things to see/do. It's extremely well organized and filled our week in Tucson with adventure and fun. We hardly ever even traveled the same road twice, there were so many listings. We'd tried the "standards" and found them lacking. There were so many areas around the city of Tucson we'd never heard of, and this book helped us organize our time and travel, although some of the day trips are truly impossible to complete in a day. In fact, we spent most of our time in Tucson outside of Tucson (if that makes any sense). A truly fantastic area guided by a truly fantastic book. If this author has written more books of the same ilk, I'll gladly buy them and enjoy.

The book is very informative and gives you lots of options to choose from. Each section opens up with a map drawing the starting location and all the stops you would make along that perticular trip. There are complete driving directions to help you along the way. It is very easy to combine parts of different trips to suite your own interests, if you desire something different than what is already listed. Another good thing about this book is that it has listings of places to stay, where to eat, and when festivals occur(listed by month.) The descriptions of places to visit include whether or not it is for the casual observer or experienced hiker/climber. I love this book. If you are going to Arizonia, don't pass this book up. It will lead you in the right direction!!

DeLorean was a great man, like Henry Ford. I regret how the British government treated him. It just shows that our antitrust laws can be circumvented on the global scale. Big business doensn't like competition. On a happy note, they still manufacture DeLorean's if you want to buy one. They're in the price range of 20 grand. Not bad for a great car that has style. DeLorean was a great Christian man who was blackmailed by our own government for the sake of big business. Between English government and our own government, it just shows how our government has become of the rich and powerful, by the rich and powerful and for the rich and powerful.

The De Lorean DMC-12 (manufactured 1981-1982) was and remains to this day an automobile classic of all time--not only because of its superb styling and its role in the "Back to the Future" films but also because its history typified the central theme of Greek tragedy: a fatal flaw (in this case, reliance on unfulfiled promises of the British government), eliciting pity and fear in those witnessing it. This book, providing reprints of the most important motor magazine articles evaluating the car, is a must for De Lorean fans. To be sure, Clarke's book should be purchased along with John Z. DeLorean's autobiography (titled, simply, "DeLorean," Zondervan, 1985) and the second edition of John Lamm's "De Lorean: The Stainless Steel Illusion" (Red Lion Press, 2003). It is of more than passing interest that John DeLorean himself, having created a genuinely transcendent automobile--one that is indeed timeless. as this book illustrates--ultimately became a Christian believer.

This book is an absolute must for the '48 Tucker Torpedo enthusiast! This book was written by a former employee of Preston Tucker & the Tucker Corp. It has information you will be unlikely to find anywhere else. A must have for the motoring history fans!

A little more than 50 years ago, Philip Egan, a young design engineer, had the opportunity to be part of Preston Tucker's dream. As a junior member of the New York based Lippincott team which helped design the prototype car, Egan took very careful notes of his first exposure to a full scale automotive design probject.

Where other books have focused on the drama of the human triumph and tragedy, Egan's focus is the car. However, the appeal of Design and Destiny reaches far beyond those interested only in the Tucker. The basic principles of automotive design are well illustrated. For those interested in creativity, the book provides valuable insight. Though other books and countles articles have been published on the Tucker saga, I believe Design and Destiny is something very special

According to my aeronautical knowledge, I found this book wery helpfull to guide you through the comprehension of the airplane design. Together with the book of the same author regarding testflights, this is a masterpiece in airplane knowhow

I'm perhaps not the most qualified person to review this book, as my educational background is electronics engineering, not aerospace. However, as an EAA member and wannabe aircraft designer, I've been reading a number of aircraft design books recently. This one has been the best I've come across so far. Unlike a number of the other books out there that focus on airliners and military craft, the emphasis here is on smaller single-engine airplanes, making it a great book for homebuilders interested in design. The math is kept simple (for aircraft design) with a working knowledge of algebra being the primary prerequisite. As a 2nd revision with a copyright of 2001 the book is up-to-date with modern design, including discussions of canards and three-surface aircraft among others. The author rightfully uses metric, imperial and US units as appropriate, which combined with the fluid writing style makes the book easy to read on this side of the big pond. The book is organized in five parts 1) Introduction: which covers UK/EU/USA regulatory requirements, design terminology, and airworthiness 2) Aerodynamics: nature of air, then surfaces (wing shapes, mounting on body, etc.) then drag, flaps and wake effects 3) Performance: which covers engines, props and all the performance equations associated with them (time to climb, range, etc.) 4) Operational Characteristics: cockpit sizing, landing gear, control surfaces, stability and control, and CG/sizing issues 5) Project Examples: numerous quick examples of sample aircraft, their design criteria and solutions. My main complaint is the index, which is not as complete as I would like. For example, winglets are mentioned in a number of places in the text, but there is no index entry for 'Winglets'. This book has lots of meat, but is not a detailed design reference. For example, there is almost nothing on structural design. Instead, look at this book as a general overview of the principles of aircraft design, giving you enough information and tips based on experience to work out the basic shape of your own design. Then start hitting the heavy books (Bruhn's Structures book, Dover's Theory of Wing Sections, etc.) to do all the detail work.

Este libro describe detalladamente el porque de las acciones de las personas. Enseña paso a paso como lograr las metas que uno establece y como hacer cambios en la vida, que son duraderos. No solo le puede cambiar la vida a uno sino que le da a uno las herramientas para cambiar a otras personas ya sea familiares, colegas, amigos, etc. Después de leer este libro, todo tiene otra perspectiva. Realmente es una guia de como vivir mejor y obtener todo lo que uno quiere, en todo aspecto.

Excellent book in many ways - well arranged, many clear photos on high
quality paper. Gives specifications, applications from 1960s to current for
American trucks and cars, with background information you do not find in any
manual. Includes useful glossary, and formulas. Great value.

This long-needed reference is filled with information and tips from the experts on differentials and axles. It covers everything from tools to inspection and repair, from minor upgrades to competition set-ups, from muscle cars to off-road, with everything inbetween as well. I especially appreciated the many photos that help in identification and disassembly/reassembly, as well as the "easy to understand" writing style. "Differentials" is a bargain at list price, and a "must have" for those of us who love our vehicles.

A very entertaining and interesting read on the workings of a car dealership. It's clear that Moe is not a polished writer, nor does he pretend to be. But he writes from the heart and with a deep knowledge of his subject, and he communicates well. I just bought a new car, and the negotiation process which I have always hated to engage in was actually a little bit fun after having read this book! I went in with a lot more confidence, and I saved many times the cost of the book simply by making it clear to the salesman that I did not look favorably upon their 'document fee'. He immediately agreed to cross it off the deal. As we were closing the transaction, he actually asked me if I had ever worked for a car dealership! I owe that to Moe!

At once, you could describe this book as penance from one who spent so long UNDER the truth of sales, but really it is a gift of GRACE from one who has been LIFTED UP by the TRUTH of GOD'S LOVE!

The antics of this lead stooge leave you laughing (and quite certain that God has a sense of humor), and bring you to a deep appreciation at his honesty and help for those of us with much to learn about a world that we all live in.

From one who has looked into the eyes of this salesman- the transforming power of God's love is real! His passion for this product is revealed in his telling of the story of his newfound life in Christ, his renewed discovery of the blessed gift of His wife, and the hope of a future whose value will not decrease the moment we drive off of this lot.

Great book !!!I'm from Brazil and de Dodge Dart make history here. I have a 318 V8 sedan...and I love it !!

I absolutely LOVE Dodge Darts and their Plymouth Valiant sisters. The high performance beautiful, streamlined 6-cylinder Chrysler has certainly earned its place in the hearts of classic car and Chrysler lovers.

This book does a big service to Dart afficionadoes; readers will be treated to some really cool pictures of some very serious cars. The Darts and Valiants set new standards and certainly raised the bar in automotive production. It is also a real treat for people who like muscle cars. The Dodge Dart and Plymouth Valiant, famous for their slant 6 engine have earned their rightful place on the road, in our collective hearts and among those cars used as high performance muscle cars.

I get this calendar every year. Together with the online version that you are given the code for, it's a great addition to any desk.

One of my annual christmas gifts to myself, this calendar continues to offer a blend of vehicles to suit any automotive enthusiast. Nice photography and interesting blurbs.
