What would you expect from the master ?Review Date: 2008-03-18
I always like to see how the great artist draw, since drawing is the back bone to good painting in my mind.
I really get a kick out of artist who say they can't draw and can only paint, sure.. Thats like saying you never learned to walk and that you can only run.
Sargent used to say you should draw every day and I think he was right.

If a man smiles at you...Review Date: 2004-04-06
Do not be fooled: this book goes beyond the cult of the author's personality; it shows brief, concept and ways of thinking which are useful to everyone, not only designers and students.
Although I knew it from the beginning, in the end I had tears in my eyes, because this man was gone and could no longer make our world a better place.

Valuable Advice for Either Side of the Table.Review Date: 2004-03-03
I've found its contents so useful that I've taught portions of seminars to Architects, Contractors and Owners using lessons and insights taken from the book. The attendees always have commented favorably on the concrete, practical advice they have learned from those portions of the seminar.
This is a valuable book. If you're involved in any negotiations, especially construction, it is worth purchasing.

a great book about negotiation and communicationReview Date: 2003-08-11
Abramowitz's many years of experience as a counselor, teacher and mentor to architects has clearly given her insight into how architects think, and she uses this insight to great effect. My students enjoy reading this text (especially Chapters 3&4) because it connects to the way they see the world (and helps focus that vision) in language that rings true. Don't be fooled by the word "Contracts" in the title; this is a great book about architects and negotiation in general and one that I believe all architects should own.

Fantastic~ Interesting~ Addicting~ Educational~FUN FUN FUNReview Date: 2008-07-23
You get to learn the history and facts of very famous works of art. You then become a dectitive and have to figure out which prints are fakes and which are real and who forged them.
It comes with a plastic magnifying glass. You make a chart and head out to find who done it. It is challenging enough for an adult to have fun but I am sure very doable for children too.
Adults don't think these are just for kids. Great for keeping your mind sharp.

Engaging Book: Need a little help getting startedReview Date: 2008-01-14
My only recommendation is to 1. Maybe plan to help your kids create this clue-tracker sheet or, 2. The publisher should include it as a tear-out item in the book (which probably adds to production cost).

Bill Peet ShinesReview Date: 2007-10-09
I can see myself in Pete sometimes. He never gave up and kept dreaming and kept his spirit alive. He has an easy flow to his writing that makes you feel relaxed and know that you're in for one heck of a good story. I loved his book for the truth that it told, and for the wonder that makes up Bill Pete. Keep dreaming, if you strive, you can reach the stars and soar beyond.
Wonderful look into an amazing artist's lifeReview Date: 2007-05-08
While not aimed at someone my age...Review Date: 2006-04-13
Peet is a self-professed reluctant student, especially of English classes, but he is nonetheless quite the good writer. Peet's illustrations add a lot to the pace and feel of the book and are a joy in their own right. His stories of life in Indianapolis before World War II will be interesting to any native Hoosier (as am I).
However, the most interesting part details his jobs at Walt Disney studios. His descriptions of how they made movies in the old days as well as the insider's look at Walt Disney himself are fascinating. Peet worked on several Disney movies, including Pinnochio, Fantasia, Cinderella (he created the lovable mice) and the original 101 Dalmations.
Peet brushes over his life after he left Disney a little too quickly. I would have liked to have read his descriptions of life in the publishing world as well. Also lacking is much history of his family life.
That being said, it was still fascinating, entertaining and totally worth the reader's time.
I give this one a grade of A-

The Calk box kid
Crcc the walls where about to fall down Gorge ran to the other side
The Calk Box Kid by Clyde Bulla was about a kid named Gorge likes to plant and draw flowers .One
day Gorge moved to a knew town and a knew school but Gorge did not make any friends .Gorge did
not talk to anyone. Gorge got bulled by this kid named Vince because he said'' you think you school is
better then ours just because it bigger
My favorite part was when Gorge stood up to this boy named Vince. Vince was the meanest person in the whole entire school.
I think the author's purpose was to teach us to make friends, be nice to others, and to have fun at school.
I think a lot of kids should read this book because I give this book five stars. You learn some things like how to be a good friend and how to treat others like you want to be treated.

Having had, as many people did, my first taste of Ralph via Hunter S Thompson's books, I found this to be a great introduction to the Hyperactive and frantic style of a dude who is probably my favourite artist. This has a forward by Hunter, gives great colour examples of his works in the realm of Gonzo, and also has many written, poetical works, and songs. My fave piece is 'Stand up and be counted.' IE: The maverick beast will ALWAYS raise his head in the crowd. A perfect definition of Gonzo.

A Gem by Margaret Wise BrownReview Date: 2008-10-10
I wasn't sure what a "Big Little Golden Book" was, but I was pleasantly surprised to see what a lovely hard-backed book it is! It is quite sturdy, with no golden "tape" on the spine that peels off in time like the little ones. The illustrations are gorgeous--so clear and vivid. I like how the pictures fill up the whole page, on each and every page, even the front and back plates. Garth Williams portrays a world in bloom at spring, and a shiny glint in each animal's eye.
Margaret Wise Brown's other "Best Seller", is, of course, "Good-Night Moon". This one is probably more well known. I read it too my boys (now grown) very often when they were small. It is also very engaging for little ones. Brown has a knack to really understand how their little minds work and what gives them pleasure in stories.
I originally bought this book for my niece, but after I saw how wonderful it was, I ordered several more copies which I am keeping on hand as a perfect gift for baby showers and such. I am glad to hear from you people who grew up with this great story, how lucky you are!
