This book was an excellent resource for me as I studied how to best prepare for actually taking the RICA, not just studying possible test content. The authors break down how to take the test, what domains are most important to prepare for, and have great suggestions on simple strategies to use as responses to test questions.

I love it!it makes you learn in a fun eat as opposed to more basic methods of solfege. Clef reading required

This book gives excellent ideas to those teachers who face the adolescence as early adulthood.

Quality Comprehension is a must have book for teachers looking for the answers to helping their students understand what it is we are asking them to read in the intermediate grades. For me, it was the missing link between taking the skills necessary for quality comprehension for my students and making them work in my classroom. During reading, I had many "aha-light bulb" moments! The comprehension guides are easy to create, versatile for all of the needs of my students and are a tangible, hands-on resource for my students to learn and use the strategies they need for comprehension for whatever reading we are doing in the classroom; whether language arts or content area. They will also be a great assessment tool for me to see if my kids are"getting it" as we move throughout a story. What I loved the most is that they have shown wonderful results in the classrooms of the authors who have used them. I can't wait to start using the guides with my students!

Excellent book for learning to read ancient Greek. Begins with simple grammatical forms and progresses to the more complex. Selections for the translations are fun to work with. Dr. Ellworth has presented logical, non-intimidating lessons.

I am a first grade teacher in my third year of teaching and this book has become my bible for the classroom. It has shown me new strategies for teaching reading. Don't be put off by the length (it's pretty thick); there is so much good information. I highly recommend this to anyone who finds literacy and instruction of reading a priority.

If you are a new or even an experienced coach - this is the book for you. I wish I had known about this book 4 years ago when I began as a coach. It is one of the best that I have read and believe me, I have read many. The numerous charts in the back are very helpful and ready to use just as they are. Within a day of reading this, my conferences with teachers changed completely into more effective conversations that helped me save time and get down to the heart of the matter - student achievement!

I was fortunate enough to have Dr. Maria as one of my Reading professors at the College of New Rochelle. Her book is a wonderful resource for all educators. As educators we are eager to test for comprehension but we don't always clearly teach comprehension skills to students. This book provides information on the different techniques along wtih model lessons that demonstrate how the techniques can be used in the classroom every day. Some of the techniques included are: Pre-reading activities(Activating Prior Knowledge); Vocabulary; Sentence structure, story grammar, and other narrative and expository text structures. Many during reading strategies are also covered including Reciprocal Teaching,Direct Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA), ReQuest, InQuest, SQ3R, etc. I find that I always turn to this book to find techniques and adaptations that I can use with my good and poor readers.
