This text gives a good overview of the issues faced by the conservator beyond techniques. Topics and articles can be a launching pad for wonderful discourse.

A must have book for any primary grade teacher. This simple, but effective book is easy to read and understand. Any teacher who has tutors in their classroom should read this book!

This is the author's second volume on Luke. The book offers great visual insight to the message of Luke through the paintings of the Renaissance. The pictures provide details that you can sometimes miss in reading the gospel itself.

As a college student interested in becoming a teacher, I have found this book to be extremely valuable. Using clear and concise language, the book addresses the issues of how we can tell that a text can be trusted and how a student can learn to read such a text. Having not yet entered into the educational field, I feel like this book has a valuable wealth of information that I can be taught from before I teach, when I am learning to teach and while I am teaching.

The book is divided up into easy to read chapters with important ideas, terms or, questions accented by bullet points. The different chapters examine how to read important topics such as literature, textbooks and tests. My personal favorite is the chapter "Reading the Internet" which discusses the many facets of this resource. Online searches are a main source of information for students today. The book identifies and defines important aspects of this such as the types of texts and web sites that can be found. In addition, the author suggests questions that a teacher can ask a student to help them determine the quality of the site they are searching.

The author provides an immense amount of very useful information on reading texts. Whether it is about teaching students how to read online texts, learning what questions to ask or making connections to what is read, this book is invaluable. I am confident it will be part of my educational career.

I'm a former public school music teacher and private piano instructor, now teaching at 2 colleges. This semester, for the first time, I have 2 piano students who are dyslexic, one severely and the other slightly. This book provides a wealth of helpful information on the scientific background of dyslexia, its potential impacts on musical learning, and strategies for helping dyslexics be successful in this area. It is well-written, easy to understand, and encouraging. Its suggestions would be also helpful for music teachers in general. The author's thought-provoking question is, "If they can't learn the way you teach, can you teach the way they learn?" This book shows the way to do that; I highly recommend it!

This text is a MUST for anyone who teaches educators. Judith Newman lets the reader in on what is going through her head as she prepares and teaches a 2 week graduate workshop to teachers. As a full time staff development specialist, this book helped me understand how best to meet the needs of my adult learners. Very powerful and validating book!

Great book - Adam Levy presents exercises with many varied rhythms, feels etc. Mainly 8th note stuff, very accessible..and challenging. Comes with a Cd too. Starts off with rhythms, and they are realistic, not the corny examples found in so many books. It also has a duet section, plus at least 8 or so re-written 'standards'- so you can get the feel of the classics. Ive gotten alot out of this..probably the best book Ive bought this year (for reading) - Id also suggest buying the Parker omnibook after this, as it's a natural progression of sorts, albeit very challenging. If you're a 'tourist' in jazz guitar, this is the perfect book, it sets you up to play straight ahead pieces, without getting into unusable territory/material..Well worth the money spent.
