This is an excellent resource for challenging your student in vocabulary. Each lesson has 5 sections. The first involves identifying the definition of the word (multiple choice). The second involves discerning the correct/incorrect usage of each word in a sentence (multiple choice). This is actually my favorite part of the weekly unit, as some of the exercises really challenge the student to think through the examples. There are exercises related to identifying which vocabulary word fits in place of words given in a sentence, background of words, and a puzzle which requires the student to provide the word that is defined. I strongly suggest the use of the answer key, and caution that in the first section of each lesson, the multiple choice answers are provided immediately following the exercises...if your student likes shortcuts, he/she will probably find this one...I managed this by blacking out that section of the lesson. Otherwise, I think this is really a great program for a very small cost.

Bought a number of copies that we could not find anywhere in San Diego county. The teacher and other parents were so appreciative. This is the book to have for students!

Worldly Wise 3000, Book 6 gave myself a very rich vocabulary, which I use to build my sentence structures everyday. I'd recommend it to everybody.

I am a wordsmith and this book taught me a plethora of new words that I never knew I could pick up and remember so summarily. It is an exemplar in education pieces and should be shared for generations to come --- brillant and scintillating from start to finish. The games were masterfully conceived and he receives unceasing accolades from me. Meritorious, it is indeed.

This book is a must-have for all faculty, staff and administrators on all college campuses. General information, answers to questions one could have and how to support LGBT college students is available in one place and easy to read! I reccomend it to anyone who is interested in learning more about LGBT students, or want to know how they could better support them individually or on their campus. Get this book now and share it with others!

If you do, this book will have haggard edges from use. I personally have used this book in staff trainings and as a reference when faced with challenging behaviors. This guide offers intervention strategies for agitation, distress and panic behaviors in people with profound and severe developmental disabilitites running the gamut to challenging sexual behavior in people with mild and moderate developmental disabilities. Specific information is given regarding boundary setting and teaches staff how to determine what to do and when.

Perhaps the most shocking thing about high school humor is the fact that most of us have been participants. Of course we didn't know at the time that adults were laughing behind our backs at all our "pretend to be adults" antics. High school kids are funny. High school teachers and administrators and teachers are even funnier. When you combine the two, well, look out! Be prepared to laugh out loud while viewing these cartoons.

I'm surprised I'm the first to review this book; I had gotten the impression it was popular among homeschoolers. If it is, the homeschoolers certainly have it right. This is a great, concise, well-organized workbook that teaches the young writer how to compose an argumentative paragraph. In less than a hundred pages, the authors, two formers instructors at Phillips Academy, present a simple and effective guide to composition: brainstorm to generate ideas, gather your ideas into a topic statement, structure your supporting sentences, and finally, edit for clarity and coherence. That may sound like what every other guide to writing teaches, but _Writing_ explains each step with exceptional precision, including enough practical tips to assist students without overwhelming them. Many of the skills learned can be directly applied to composing an essay when the time for that comes.

I can't think of a single thing wrong with this book. I would add only one caveat for homeschoolers to consider: some of the assignments relate to school experiences--but you can easily revise these to reflect the experiences and environment of your child.

This book is a wonderful account of the life and times of Howard Barnard, as well as the life of an educator on the prairie. It encompasses the life's work of Barnard and his trials tribulations in a new land. The book is written with zest and demonstrates Miller's love for education, history and western Kansas.

I have read many books on ADHD and this is the best one I have found. It contains "the basics" plus more detailed information about why ADHD kids do the annoying things they do! For example, I get very frustrated when my son misbehaves but demonstrates afterward that he knew how he SHOULD have acted. This book explains why. The book also contains sample behavior charts, medication effectiveness questionnaires, etc. I have already given a copy to my son's school principal (there is a special section in it for teachers) and am now ordering one for myself.
