Educators as Writers edited by Carol Smallwood with chapters by many teacher - writers does exactly what it purports to do: gives practical advice to educators who desire to publish their work, both creative and professional. It is a very useful resource, especially for writing educators who want to transition from academic
to creative writing. The short chapters by varied teaching writers focus on all aspects of this process from the generation of ideas through finding publishers. All teachers involved in writing will find something useful in this handbook - whether it is advice on blogging or writing action research and grant proposals. The short chapters are themselves written with clarity and skill that make them interesting for any teaching writers. I especially would recommend the introductory chapters and the section on non-book writing. I will recommend this book to my teacher education students. It would also be an excellent text for a professional writing class. It simply offers a resource for answering many of the questions that arise as one begins to make private writing public.

Admittedly I am more in the field of politics than that of teaching; however it is about time teachers were shown the light. Which groups in this country get the most good done for them by the government? Those who make themselves heard out loud of course. If you are silent then you are guaranteed to be ignored, no matter how bad your problems may be. The problem is most people don't make any attempts to get involved because few people know where to start. Until now...

The author employs whatever biographical data are available, as well as his command of the broader intellectual history of eighteenth-century Europe, to fix the sources and trace the evolution of Moisiodax's views. This book is an essential tool for any classroom. The ideas and strategies used in the book are all emcompassing and the workshop format is easy to follow. A great resource tool for trainers in any program where language skills are being taught.

A life history of the great-great granddaughter of Sacajewea who was Indian boarding school teacher. The stories were great and left me with the notion of how could this women accomplish so much in one lifetime. A must read.

I hope most teacher programs are requiring this book. It has most the information a teacher of younger children needs to know about ethics in teaching.
It is a little too technical but a great book nevertheless.
