This book is a great tool for engineering students and expeienced engineers alike!

This book is a newer version to the one my father lent me while on my first internship. I recommend this book to any engineer, since you can find all the formulas you might ever need all in a nice pocket size book.

This a must have for all engineers, it contains the simplest to more complex formulae required for day to day engineering calculations & design.

The fun thing about this book is that it has everthing you learned (or should have learned) getting your Engineering degree. It's all there! It usually takes some time to sort thru what all the vaiables mean, and often you have to flip between look up tables, but it is so charming to find EVERYTHING in one spot in a book so small you can carry it in your front pocket.

This is a great, straightforward reference. It covers everything any person needs to know about dining etiquette without any useless "filler" material. The audio format is great and the speaker is one of the best I have listen to.

After a few months as a first year associate at my law firm, one of my former law school classmates told me that their firm had sent its new associates to an etiquette class. I decided that it might be a good idea for me to brush up on my etiquette skills as well, so I purchased this CD and also the Food Scholar Wine Basics CD. I recommend both for new professionals to prepare them for any "dining" situation they may encounter in their first jobs. These situations frequently fall into the "you don't know what you don't know" category of student knowledge.

I, for one, had very little experience in more formal dining situations upon graduating from school. This CD was just what I needed to get myself up-to-speed. It is well-organized and well-presented, covering a number of very specific situations that convey the elements of common sense and consideration that underlie all etiquette.

The author thankfully avoids spending time on how to arrange the seating at a state dinner. What he offers is practical, usable advice on the types of real social interactions that occur in all kinds of business. A very useful CD and well worth the price. Definitely five stars.

I will be graduating from college this year and have started to interview for jobs. I have a decent GPA, am in the career placement office every week for advice, and have spent hours polishing my resume. I thought that I had all my bases covered. Then I started actually interviewing for jobs. I have already had three interviews that included meals and two "mixers" with drinks and appetizers. It was a little overwhelming. I could tell there was an order to things I did not completely understand. A friend recommended this Dining Etiquette CD, so I ordered it. I had yet another meal during an interview after listening to it. It made a big difference. Knowing what to do at every turn during the meal was a confidence booster and I am sure it helped me appear more polished and professional. I HIGHLY recommend it, Two Thumbs Up.

A good etiquette book should sit on every professional's bookshelf alongside "how to win friends" and "7 habits." I purchased this book along with Essential Etiquette Fundamentals, Vol. 2: Wine Selection & Etiquette and The Etiquette Edge: The Unspoken Rules for Business Success to cover all the bases. These books do an excellent job covering the important etiquette skills often overlooked in today's environment. Although often underappreciated, exhibiting proper etiquette signals to others (especially your boss and clients) that you are well educated, care about detail, and have respect for others. I highly recommend these books for anyone new to the business world or for those of us who may need to brush up on the basics.

The last book on CD my wife and I bought was terrible: mens' voices for female characters, etc. And what's the alternative on the radio? Pop music or Howard Stern? I spend twenty percent of my waking life in my car. I might as well spend it wisely. The Food Scholar is easy listening and presented in a way that makes the information easy to learn and remember.

Well-written, smart, and insightful! I'm not a teen but was captivated. The easy writing style makes it a fast read, and the issues of religion and finding one's identity are relevant to all ages. This is a must read.

This book will be of interest to adults as well as teens. The intelligent design/evolution debate is a relevant topic in our society, and this book presents some interesting thoughts about the controversy. It's quick, easy, and definitely worth reading.

Mena knew her first day of High school would be bad. But who could predict this? Being shunned by all of her former friends, her church, and even her own parents. Why, you ask? Because her church community was just sued for millions of dollars. And all because Mena wanted to do the right thing. Now the only person that will talk to her is her incredibly brilliant (and surprisingly cute) lab partner, Casey. Along with her new science teacher Ms. Sheperd, who everyone thinks is crazy. When Ms. Sheperd begins the new unit on Evolution, and Darwin's theory, the spotlight is soon off of Mena and onto the school. Mena's entire class full of "churchmates" turns on Ms. Sheperd and her ignorance towards religion. They'll do anything to take her down, including dragging in the community pastor, and getting him to preach to the class. The only person on Ms. Sheperd and Mena's side is Casey, and Mena soon realizes that she feels a lot more than friendship for him. I definitely recommend this book for young adults and middle school age kids. If you don't believe in the theory of evolution, it's still worth the old college try. Robin Brande certainly has a slightly controversial, but amazingly written book on the trials and tribulations of surviving the evolutionary jungle we call high school.

I picked this up at a book store without realizing that it was a "young adult" novel. It looked interesting and it seemed to deal with evolution and the church, so I grabbed it and tossed it into my cart. I was out of town recently on business, needed something to read, had this with me and sat down to read it. That was a mistake, as I had to get up early the next morning and found I had read until well past my usual bedtime.

While this is a novel that deals primarily with the actions of a teen girl whose "friends" from her church now hate her, it also is much more. The reading is fun and easy and the story well told and well thought out. In addition, there are life lessons such as:

*You shouldn't lie to your parents, even when they are wrong
*Parents can be wrong...it happens
*Your "friends" may not really be friends after all
*There is a big world out there...go explore
*Lead...don't follow

That is but a sampling of what can be taken from this novel. It is not, however, written in a preachy or condescending style and can be enjoyed by all ages.

I highly recommend this novel for everyone. It is great entertainment and fun and will certainly stir up debate in the family about the subjects it covers.

If you love your children, and you love Science, and maybe you love God, then rush out and buy this book. Other people have mentioned what its about, but what its really about is finding that perfect balance between scientific knowledge and spiriruality.

It's also about love, respect and honesty.

And its a little about freedom of speech and integrity.

If any of these things bother you, don't read it. Or read it, because it might rub off on you.

This book is a great source of information and guidance for new teachers or teachers whose school is encompassing the Responsve Classroom Approach.
IT IS AMAZING! It is explained clearly through out and the student's adaption to the concepts is simply wonderful to watch.

The First Six Weeks of school was a useful guide to designing my first few weeks of school. There are good activities for the kids and practical procedural strategies for the classroom.

I began using Morning Meeting [ASIN:1892989093 The Morning Meeting Book (Strategies for Teachers, 1)] as a part of my teacher education program last year and found it to be a great benefit for encouraging positive social interactions between my elementary students. This year, I began following and implementing The First Six Weeks of School's suggestions and my students LOVE it! They enjoy greeting each other, sharing and doing the activities. I have likewise seen a decrease in the amount of behavioral issues within my classroom. The program will work with your own ideas of discipline, rules and expectations and I have found it to be invaluable as I begin my teaching career. I would recommend The First Six Weeks of School to any teacher (new or experienced) who wants to encourage a positive, socially interactive classroom experience for their students.

I have been teaching for 5 years at every level K-3 and have used this book for the first 6 weeks every year! Contains great team building activities for different ages and different times of the school year. I love it love it love it!!!

This book helped get me through those difficult first weeks of my first year of teaching. 7 years later I still pull it off the shelf at the start of the year.

This book is really a great book. I couldn't stop reading it. This is a good book because it tells you what its like for a divorced parent to get married again. It tells about the struggles and the ups and downs of a parent getting remarried. I liked this book because it was very well written

"To Have and to Hold" is a very good Madison Finn book. I really enjoyed it, and had to keep reading. I finished it in three days! This book is mainly about Maddie's dad getting married with Stephanie, in Texas! Madison doesn't want to leave Phinnie, her friends, and her mom. And then, Maddie finds out that she has to do a reading in front of a hundred people! Meanwhile, back home, something very bad happens to Fiona's father, and Maddie wishes she could be back home. Maddie doesn't want to meet Stephanie's huge Texas family.....especially a Posion Ivy like cousin. Will Maddie get through this wedding? What about everybody back home?

This is the BEST Madison finn book EVER! Madison;s dad and Stephanie are getting married! And Madison is a little overwhelmed, and then, she is asked to go and be a bridesmaid in Texas! So she turns to Bigwheels for advice, then, Fiona's dad has a heart attack, and is in the hospital! Will this wedding turn out okay, or will this New Yorker get more than what she can Have and to Hold?

Summer Vacation is on and Madison's dad drops a bombshell. He is got engaged to his girlfriend, Steph and they are getting married in two weeks. Plus, they want Madison to be junior maid of honour and recite a poem at the wedding. Dad says that there will only be 30 people at the wedding. Then Steph's mom gets carried away with the guest list. Before long the wedding goes to 300 hundred people and about five different affairs. How is madison going to survive?

Madison Finn is back! And in a whole new, exciting way. On the first page, the book just sucks you in, wanting you to read more. It begins with Maddie's Dad announcing his engagement to his long-time girlfriend, Stephanie. Suddenly, Madison's world turns topsy turvy, and she's become part of the wedding rush. As if her Dad getting married wasn't enough...it's going to be far away from home...in Texas! Think things can't get any worse? Well, it does. Stephanie's niece, Tiff, acts like a total spoiled brat towards Maddie. Will Madison's luck change? Or will this whole ordeal turn out a disaster...just like Madison thinks it will? Find out in 'To Have and to Hold'.

Dr. Anderson's book is an excellent tool if you'd like to teach yourself aerodynamics and have the background in math to handle it (multivariable and vector calculus...get "Div, Grad, Curl, and All That" if you need a refresher). His derivations are very clear and his chapter maps provide a nice road guide to give you an idea of where you're going. This book is also very good at maintaining rigor in describing the limitations of the derivations, a necessary quality since a lot of us tend to forget that the results we see are only valid in certain circumstances (incompressible flow, irrotational flow, inviscid flow, etc.).

Very few downsides: a few typos and no answers to end-of-the-chapter problems.

Over 5 years as an aerospace engineer at Boeing and Lockheed Martin, I have used this book far more than any other for aeronautics. This is not only a good textbook, but an excellent reference, and one of the few technical books I have found worth reading cover-to-cover. Many engineers simply say "look at Anderson" to find whatever answers you need.

Fundamentals of Aerodynamics, by John D. Anderson, provides an excellent foundation in aerodynamics for engineers. Presented at the graduate or senior undergraduate level, this book covers all of the fundamentals in a student-friendly manner that also works well as a professional reference.

Dr. Anderson has quite a gift for placing information in appropriate contexts - both technically and historically. The book is well organized and promotes learning by laying a solid foundation and then building on that foundation. The sample problems presented through the chapters are clear and effective at illustrating important points.

Major topics include: Incompressible non-viscous flow, Compressible flow, and Viscous flow (including an introduction to boundary layers). Significant time is spent on potential flow theory and it's application to the prediction of lift and induced drag.

Also recommended for students of aeronautics are Dr. Anderson's other titles, including:

- Introduction to Flight

- Modern Compressible Flow with a Historical Perspective

- Introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics

With no doubt this is the best Aerodynamics book for college students ever written...ever!Very clear explanations,full of examples and a good set of exercises to challenge your understanding of the subject. The only negative point is that there no answers to the problems.

"Fundamentals of Aerodynamics" is an excellent book by a knowledgeable author that provides the basic know-how and skills that an aeronautical engineer will find useful and helpful. The book is well written in a readable and easy to follow format that provides the reader with a comprehensive overview of aerodynamics. The author reinforced his message with numerous helpful examples and several illustrations which should help the reader to grasp the aerodynamics concepts and principles.

This is among the best aerodynamics books on the market for those studying the subject. You will find the aerodynamics concepts and theory well presented and explained.

This is recommended reading for those studying aeronautical engineering at undergraduate level. Practicing aeronautical engineers will also find the book to be a useful reference.

Hana's Suitcase, by Karen Levine, published in 2007, is the true story of a young girl named Hana Brady, who was taken away by the Nazis as a small child along with her older brother George, and her suitcase, which through a chain of events ended up in Japan. It is also the story of a Japanese woman's efforts to find out about Hana- who she was and what happened to her. The book is incredibly moving. Illustrated with photographs of Hana and her family as well as the Holocaust center in Japan where her suitcase is found, Levine tells Hana's story in parallel with the story of the efforts to learn about her. This structure sets up two crushing waves of emotion that left me in tears by the end. It's bittersweet tragedy, told with beauty and sensitivity.

I have read this book to my fourth grade class for the past two years. They are instantly drawn to Hana, Fumiko, and the story of the Holocaust. The minute they see the picture of Hana's Suitcase, they begin to ask all the questions that the children in Japan asked of Fumiko. They always want me to continue reading and they are so eager to find out about her story. This book has inspired so many deep and thoughtful discussions with my students. They really connect to Hana and her story and the book helps them understand what happened with the Jewish people in WW2 and why it got so out of control. The chapters switch between Hana's story and the story of the children in Japan who are learning about Hana, so it kind of breaks up some of the more difficult parts of the story with the more happier, hopeful parts. I highly recommend this book for anyone- kids and adults.

Has there ever been something you found that you wanted to learn more about? This happened to Fumiko Ishioka in Hana's Suitcase by Karen Levine. Hana's Suitcase is an informational book about the Holocaust and the sad story of what happened to over 6 million Jewish people.

Hana's Suitcase is about a young Jewish girl named Hana who lives in Czechoslovakia with her family in the 1930's and 1940's. It is also about Fumiko Ishioka in Japan and a group of kids called Small Wings who find a suitcase from Auschwitz (a German concentration camp) with the name Hana Brady on it. Fumiko and all the Small Wings are eager to learn about Hana and her life, death, and family.
Hana's story begins when she is a pampered girl who lives in Nove Mesto, Czechoslovakia. As Hitler's troops march into other parts of Czechoslovakia, Hana is barely affected. She still has all her rights and freedom. Soon after, Hitler and his troops marched into the rest of Czechoslovakia changing the Brady's life forever.
Hana's Suitcase is an amazing book that I think everyone should read. It teaches us all more about history, who these people were, and the pure evil that attacked them. The story might be sad, but it shows us just what happened to the 6 million Jews who suffered Hitler's wrath.

This children's book (age 10+)is an engaging story, almost a mystery/detective story about a Czech girl named Hana who dies in the Holocaust. It is an unusual story because it begins in Tokyo with the curator of a newly created Holocaust museum who is curious about the name on a suitcase from Auschwitz. She wants the people of Japan to understand the story of the Holocaust, especially children. The children wanted to know about Hana. The book has many photographs of Hana and her family. Each chapter answered questions in my mind but then created even more questions. Who was Hana? How did the author get the photographs? Did she survive the Holocaust? What was Hana like?

This is a very different account of the holocaust than I have ever read before. It is a living account of the holocaust and how it still affects our lives today. This book brings the holocaust into the present by telling the story of a Japanese woman searching for a girl who was lost nearly 60 years ago. I loved this story and wonder how many more stories of survival, hope and faith we can find if we just dig a little deeper to unbury a past that is not always pleasant but that we can always learn from.

My son started the first book and he is really enjoying it. I recommend this series to boys who love to read!

This WHOLE series of books is a BIG hit with kid's between 9 and 13 years of age. It has EVERYTHING a child of that age loves to talk about. The stories are entertaining and very topical for kid's in that age group.

I was able to meet Henry Winkler at a book signing and he is a wonderful individual. He suffers from Dislexia and incorporates his difficulties with Dislexia during his childhood in a way that makes children understand that even though someone may be different, they still are important. But don't think these books are all about dislexia, they're not. They deal with issues that kids of the 9-13 age bracket face every day.

So far, I like the book about the Enchilada and my second favorite is the newer one about family trips. I can relate, my Sister ALWAYS threw up in the car.

Anyone who has a child with Dislexia should be buying these books. If your child does not suffer from Dislexia, these books are still very awesome, your kid's will LOVE them!

After meeting Henry Winkler in the Savannah, GA airport, my daughter immediately wanted me to find his books. He personally recommended them to her based on her age. I went online and bought the entire collection. She absolutely loves them. Thanks Mr. Winkler!

My daughter loves this series! She loves the FONZ, aka Henry Winkler (author of this series). Great way to get started collecting the whole series HANK ZIPZER.

The Hank Zipzer series is amazing. It is so funny and yet moving. My son has become very empathetic of others and how they view themselves. Without prompting, he said, "I don't know why Hank thinks he is stupid, he is so clever and creative. Not everyone is smart in the same way." And this when he was in second grade. We have followed Hank from the beginning and try to get as many others to read this series. Hope you do too.

So far this is my favorite Beth Moore book. I've already read it twice and am sure to read it again. She tackles a very familiar story with fresh insights just about every chapter. It's not a "preachy" book. Rather she makes you feel like you're a fellow learner with a good friend. Unlike some of her other books, this does not require looking up many references which makes it ideal to read when you're reading somewhere other than your desk at home.

I have been in numerous Beth Moore Bible studies and this is one of my favorites! This is the study of Christ's life in the form of a daily, personal study. It is 53 short chapter messages.

You can never go wrong with a Beth Moore study. She has a gift for opening the Word and revealing Truth!
I would not buy from this seller, however. It took almost an entire month for it to arrive.

As always, I am very satisfied with the Beth Moore studies. She does an excellent job and everything is well researched and Biblical.

This book had great depth but was still fun to read. The author has an excellent knowledge of her subject and presented it very well. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

A book for everyone interested in how children learn. It would be of special interest to unschoolers or natural learners. Very eye-opening regarding the way children perceive the world and how they constantly learn from it, even when we interfere with this learning process.

Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. I'm no fan of public school and recently began homeschooling/ unschooling, and I've done a lot of reading on both sides of that coin. Still, something about how John Holt writes about children and how they learn and the little things that can make it or break it... captures my attention, makes me laugh, and continues to enlighten me. I wish there were more passionate people in the world like him.

This is as good as all his other books. Very practical as well. Several other sources are listed in the text, as well as many materials and a wise way of using them.

Once your read this book Holt's ideas will be so obvious and self-evident that you will feel stupid for not realizing them yourself. He truly loves children and has tremendous respect for them and their capacity as human beings.

This book completely changed the way I think about children. It had a domino effect that had me reevaluating my entire worldview.

I loved this book. I've been homeschooling for 4 years now. My children are a little older than what is talked about in this book but I still loved it. We recently started "unschooling" and this book made me realize I've been doing it really all along. I wish I would've come across it sooner. The author is not only insightful but truthful in his findings. He is full of wonderful advise and "light bulb" moments. I highly recommend it.
