I bought this book sight unseen hoping that it would provide some nice pictures of action poses that I could use in game art. But I am happy to say that this book proved to be much much more.

The first half of the book breaks down the human body, piece by piece, with lots of pictures and discussion in a friendly non-clinical way. Then the book goes into things like proportions and different body shapes depending on age, fitness, gender etc,. Then it goes into the "action" poses. There are stop-motion pictures of walking, running, sitting, standing, walking up and down stairs, jumping, throwing, and others.

This book is a really tremendous all-around reference for drawing/modelling/animating the human body.

i got this book for my boyfriend who is going into video game design because i think it is very important to understand how the human body looks and works if you are going to be drawing people. the book provides great basic knowledge on how to create people and includes chapters on movement, facial expressions, different body parts, etc. while this book focuses mainly on women (it seems that nearly all books of this type do), male design is also appropriately discussed. great pictures and examples as well as explanation; not step-by-step, but a general how-to. i would definetely reccomend this book if you know someone who is starting out in a design/graphic field.

My Chinese level is beginner so I found that this book helped a lot - clear, straightforward, and lots of exercise materials to practice.

I also checked out their website, as there is an 8USD-off coupon (promo code) inside the book. After I signed up on their site, I didn't really need the book anymore as they have videos and mp3s that i put on my ipod. I also tried a tutor session and it was a lot of fun.

Whenever I have a few minutes to spare I either use my ipod or I'm on their website. Very convenient to learn a language this way.

Oh yeah, and the Flash animation (lessons) is GREAT. [..]

This book stands out due to the diversity of its chapters. All together, they show a great amount of current research work in different research areas as well as different application domains, all dealing with adaptation issues in hypermedia systems. This diversity helps the reader to see new aspects and generate new ideas.

In buying this book, at first I was a little reluctant to do so because I thought that the "Dummies" books were for, well, dummies. However, after doing an extensive search for books on PhotoDeluxe, I found that there were few. Of those, the only ones that are currently in print are a Quickstart book, which usually isn't that informative, and Adobe PhotoDeluxe 4 For Dummies. As a graphic production artist who is starting a career, I needed a book that could get me up to speed fast on PhotoDeluxe. I was particularly interested in the area of color correction, since that was my most pressing need at the time. The book, despite its title, exceeded all my expectations and I have gained a lot from it. It familiarizes you in the many features of PhotoDeluxe in a way that's easy to understand, without insulting your intelligence. The book covers everything, from color correction to the many special effects that PhotoDeluxe is capable of producing. In fact, from reading this book, I have learned that PhotoDeluxe is more similar to its higher priced counterpart, PhotoShop, than I thought it was.
In closing, I highly recommend this book to anyone who desires to learn how to use PhotoDeluxe. In comparison with other books on graphic software, this one's as good as any other.

The Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0 Book is an excellent companion for the program. It is written in a simple, factual style and offers insights to program features that would otherwise be difficult to find without hours of exploration. I am glad I bought this book.

When I got this book, I was already an experienced user of digital cameras and Photoshop Album. But I still learned a lot. Apart from every detail you might want on how to get the best from the software, there's lots of interesting background on digital imaging. It's written in a very readable style, which encourages you to do more than dip in to look things up.

Throroughly recommended!

I was new to video editing so I decided to buy this book. I didn't have time to read through 500 pages of text. This book and CD was just what I hoped for - a visual way to jump start me into the world of video editing. The videos cover the basic techniques. There is a second video that you can purchase directly from the author at Brainsville.com that covers more advanced techniques.

The software is so complex I cannot imagine trying to learn this product just from a book alone, I recommend this method.

I recently found this very articulate short story on amazon.com. Honestly, I was quite amazed at how beautiful & well written it was. This writer has amazing talent. When reading, it reminded me of my own experience, not anything like those in this story but an event that happened in my life that I didn't want to share with my mother. The fact that it moved me was quite awesome. Much success to this writer, cannot wait to see what she does next. Best, Marlena Martin CEO/Supernova Films.

A must read.

This story is a combination of beautifully woven explosions of visual fantasy and reality. In an unbelievably adroit way, Veronica captivates us with an entertaining approach to make wonderfully comprehensible a complex and painful topic.

The complicated issues of growing-up-and-continuing-to-be-black are addressed as only Veronica can. Incredibly, using this abbreviated format, Veronica explores and brings to the fore the essential ingredients of racial divides.

Veronica's excruciatingly suspenseful climax slams the reader, privileged to occupy a front-row seat to a skillfully portrayal that incorporates multiple stages of personal development - childhood through adult.

Wonderful and essential for all readers - at whatever stage or status in life.

Some of my favorite childrens' stories revolve around a character called Hank the Cow Dog by John Erickson. They are based on a ranch in Texas, and, though there are human characters in most of the stories, they are predominantly populated and acted out by animals on the ranch and nearby wild animals.

As I was reading J. Lyon Laydon's An Adventure in Yore for Bedtime Reading, I was mentally trying to compare and correlate it to similarly-themed stories. I considered The Chronicles of Narnia and realized they didn't quite match up. I thought about Lewis Carroll's work, and that wasn't exactly it either. The Wind in the Willows came to mind, but I just couldn't make the connection.

Then towards the end of Adventure in Yore, as the tree frogs sang, it hit me. This story has a very similar footing to the Hank the Cow Dog series. Laydon has struck a very viable chord in children's fiction with this short. He runs ahead with activity and then pulls back for night time relaxation. It's a marvelous piece of writing that, to be honest, I didn't think I would care much for. However, I found out differently.

From Terramore to Mudgunkland to the Domain of Felvin and back to Bogland, Laydon has created a legendarium totally suited to the reading imaginations of little folks - probably between ages 4 and 7, if I had to guess.

This is a fun story to get into, it has poetic value in much of its prose. And it imparts a dreamy quality to its overall presentation. I recommend this story highly.

Fun Read!

I don't know about you, but since I was a child, I have loved to pretend that birds, frogs and all kinds of animals and insects have their own little world; one we know nothing about. A world where they have families and friends, do their work and play and live their lives; much like we do our own. In this delightful tale by author, J. Lyon Layden, we are taken into such a world, one of frogs, mice, and rats. Ah! what a combination. It seems the rats are on a mission of war and the frogs are determined to stop them at all costs.

We meet some delightful characters and some nasty ones as well. For instance, Dr. Croaks, who sets off to protect the lands of Terramore against the invasion of mice, and treat any possible wounded. We share his adventure as he battles the rats, whom we find out are behind all the terror in the land, and who are very hateful, nasty, and dangerous. Dr. Croaks is captured, nearly killed and finally rescued by a frog, a kind that Dr.Croaks has never seen before; one that is strong, brave and magical. He is taken to a peaceful forest where he dreams mystical dreams and awakens to find himself safely back home among his friends, healing and ready for the next adventure.

I have to say this is truly a fun and adventurous tale. It has great characters that are developed fully where you have a good mind vision of them. The author uses the characters to show loyalty, friendship, compassion, fear, and also hate, as is found in the rats. The story has interesting locals, and a storyline that keeps your interest and leaves you wanting more. Very well done; very enjoyable read for both the young and young at heart.
