"Essence of Home" is clear and simple, like the designs in the many excellent photos. Provides an excellent framework to help you think through the design of your home.

This is a beautiful book filled with photographs that really help you see the many possibilities you can achieve with white. I love this sweet and very helpful book. Every page is inspiring. It doesn't matter to me if the author here took the pictures, this book gives me a decorating thrill every time I open it. There are examples of what you can do with different rooms in the home, and outdoors too.

As an artist and metal worker, I've found this book comprehensive. Great illustrations and historical documents.

Exhibit designers have several interesting problems. In many cases the exhibit must be mobil. It travels from trade show to trade show around the country, even around the world. Then it needs to be set up, quite possibly by people who have never seen it before, and at the end of the show the exhibit has to be torn down, usually by people who have been working at the show all day, are tired, don't care where things get put, and are ready to head to a bar.

Here is a book on exhibits by outstanding design companies from around the world. These are not the little ten foot square booths you see around the edges, but the kinds of booths you would expect from Mercedes-Benz.

Actually only about half the book is on business/trade show exhibits. The rest of the book is on more permanent structures such as information booths or museums. All in all, this is an idea book on how to do exhibits that attract attention, show off the company and the products, and create a memorable experience for the visitor.

Well, most of us will never be able to afford to stay in most of these hotels, but they are absolutely beautiful, and the information on them and why they are eco-friendly. The photos are incredible!

This is without a doubt my favorite book about Los Angeles. John Chase captures the what and the why of Los Angeles residential architecture. For all of those who believe you can't and don't walk in Los Angeles, head over to West Hollywood with this book in hand and spend an afternonn WALKING and seeing some truly wonderful and fun houses!

I discovered this book after reading a very favorable review in the Orlando Sentinel. The book shows salvaged items used in "elegant rooms to funky apartments, with practical ideas and whimsical inspiration."
You just don't find pieces like an antique Indian swing or Syro-Turkish wall panels at the local Home Depot. The book shows rooms with salvaged items like an ornate painted mirror or bistro lamps from Paris. Saving these items from demolished buildings preserves the past and adds character to new homes.
Anyone who loves home decorating will enjoy browsing this book and the inspiring rooms in it.

After I bought this book, I went home and read the whole thing. All my questions were answered, even ones I did not know I had. If you have ever wondered how felt is made or it's history, this is the book with all the answers. It covers synthetic as well as those natural fibers. It is full of wonderful insightful information about fabric and gorgeous enough to grace any coffee table.

I've had this book for over ten years, and have made several projects from it. It probably is not ideal for those with only basic sewing skills, as the projects describe proportions rather than measurements (so that they can be adapted to any home), but I have had good results. As a book to inspire, it is wonderful. Paine has created beautiful interiors and has many creative ideas for transforming spaces with fabric.
