Most of this book deals with, essentially, how to make a living doing cabinet work, including financial, bidding, estimates, dealing with potential customers, etc.

However, the chapters on drawer making alone makes this book worthwhile.

Peters is one of the top arts and crafts designers today, he is in ill health however. His knowledge would take multiple volumes, but this book tells the whys and how to's of being a professional cabinet maker.

Profusely illustrated with both color & B/W photographs Mr. Bird's book is a comprehensive study of this often overlooked genre. Definitely not just a coffee table edition, it's a scholarly work that people will find themselves turning to again & again. It not only attempts to cover every imaginable form but also provides ethnic & geographical origins relevant to the construction,design,use & decoration of the objects. I heartily reccomend "Canadian country furniture" to you based on the quality of the research & the plain manner in which it is presented. This will prove to be an invaluable reference to the decorator,dealer & collector. Most of all it will be enjoyed by all who enjoy reading about the development of a furniture form & it's historic context. very easy to follow instructions and some usual @ unusual projects. worth buying for the peacock alone; I intend to have at least three of these strutting thru my garden.

This book maintains the excellent quality that I expect from Fox Chapel books - more quality color photos than you can count. The showcase of CCA caricature carvings is amazing. These guys are the best you can find, and they certainly did not get skimpy on variety. There are a LOT of patterns to try also. As a caricature carver, this book is inspirational. It is a cool coffee table book, and a great gift.

I liked this book so much I ordered another for a friend. Pictures are clear and detailed. I am a beginner carver and I am sure I will be able to carve the cowboy, indian or mountain man without a lot of trouble. There is even a section for carving a feather and a pipe.

Tibor Kalman might just be qualified to have his face on Apple's new "Think Different" campaign. Without a doubt he does the unexpected...at the risk of little or no practicality. When I recieved this book in the mail some of my co-workers thought a stock photography picture book was just "Dumb!" And maybe they're right. But I think the novelty of this book rests behind the humorous selection of photography to convey a simple message. This book isn't reading enjoyment...it's visual enjoyment. You'll find your mind filling in the blanks to "get" the joke. It's a great book to see...not read.

A sweet little chair book I bought from the Tate Modern and really enjoyed it. Most of the chairs from known architects... A book for your office table.

Charles and Ray Eames were not only creative artistic talents, they were also commercial geniuses (just like George Nelson was). These two talents provided the secret for success that would reward them throughout their life. This book gives in debt view about the vast creative inspiration that Charles and Ray Eames had. This is a wonderful coffee table book, a joy to browse through. Wonderful book about furniture of this period. Especially interesting for me as I had numerous relatives living in Charleston during this period and up to present. It gives insight into how people lived in Charleston during these times.

I value art and always looking for books or guide to make my job easy to do. I see alot of Chinese Provincial pieces and going online to find it takes time. I open this book and got a great example and price. This is worth the price, for not other reason it a great references.
