Fashion Books

I found this book in the gift shop at the National Textile Museum in Washington, DC. It's really all pictures--150 pages of full-color clear pictures of nothing but mudcloth (cloth on white background, glossy pages), with a few pages of essays at the beginning to set the stage. The book comes with a CD containing all the images, and permission to use up to five of them for "personal use."

About 1/4 of the patterns make me stop in my tracks. You may find a different quarter to be of interest. They're all compelling; my taste runs to bold graphics. Great source material.

Definitively: this book is a keeper! Whether you are a bowling aficionado or just a occasional player. You will love to browse through Joe Tonelli`s book. Beautifully coloured and well researched he takes the reader through a journey of textile decades full of creativity and beautiful "paintings" of the bowling sport. To put it in a nutshell: This is the definitive answer any bowling shirt fan could ask! Schiffer Books has once again done a great job. The company that collectors love for their extensive catalogue on nearly every subject is also well known for their perfect execution on a topic and "Bowling Shirts" is no exception to that rule.

You better go and grab a copy fast, you`ll never know how long it will be available and you may soon find yourself searching the antique book stores for a copy demanding extensively high prices.

And there is no other title of that subject (at least one that I know) which makes the choice so easy: Go for it!!!

This book is very funny. I am thirteen and when my seven year old brother and I checked it out, we read it over and over again until the due date and than we checked it out again. It has alot of good life lessons and it made me think about the world differently.

I found this book a fascinating look at the history of the corset and bra. As well as being a costume journal though, the book also covers the history of breasts in fashion, in detailing the undergarments which were designed and built to create the appropriate cleavage effect, dictated by what was fashionable at any given time.

Wonderful book full of fabulous photos. Haven't been able to put it down. Great reference for deconstruction clothing ideas.

This paper doll book is a delight. While it may have been designed for collectors to "play" with, it is also lovely to look at and fascinating to read. A great buy for paper doll lovers and for anyone who enjoys looking at bridal fashions.

Ever since I can remember I have been wearing Joe Boxer boxer shorts. Reading this book was very interesting learning the history on what I have worn for the past 10 years ( I am 17 now)

I sag showing my joe boxers and reading a book written by the company of my favorite boxer company is great. A great read for something different.

This book is a must read for those who wish to purse a career in any formal setting. It gives you key elements on the dress for success theory and it tells you the information from a common sense point of view.

If you enjoy costume and accuracy this is a catalog with a snap shot in time. The picturs are large with period description. This isnt a pattern book but rather an idea book.
