this is a good book for kids who are intersted in titanic.my nephew love this book,buys every book he can find on it.

This book is very great for kids who want to get a good glimpse on the inside of the ship and see what the interior actually might have looked like back then.

I have it sitting above my head on my book shelf among a couple of other titanic books.

I definately recgomend this book for any one and not just children.

My seven year old nephew was enthralled by this book. The amazing illustrations fill every page with a wealth of detail for both adults and kids. The story line is excellent too--it follows two families, the Goldsmiths and the Carters, one in first class, one in third, as they make their way across the Atlantic. The book doesn't gloss over the fact that many died, but has just enough detail to hold kids' interest without being scary. A real find.

My 7 year old son has become fanatical about all thing related to the Titanic. I was thrilled to find there are so many good books out there for children of his age, this particular book is no exception. Great copy, wonderful pictures. He reads this one over and over again.

My 4 year old has been obsessed with the Titanic for months now. We have read many different Titanic books and this one definitely stands out. And not just because of it's enormous size. Although that really enhances the experience of "looking inside" the Titanic. The detailed illustrations are truly amazing. This book isn't filled with as many facts as some of our other favorites but I suppose that might be a plus for some children. After checking this out from the library 5 times we decided to add to our home library and our little guy couldn't be happier!

I enjoyed 7 Practices. It was inspiring, practical and will help in refining a ministry philosophy with my staff.

I was made to read this book as a part of a group I was in. I put it off and thought that it was just another book by a famous preacher's son (Charles Stanley). A few pages into this book, I learned why I was made to read it and that Andy Stanley is not just free riding on daddy's coat tails. This book is great, and I don't know how I ran a ministry without its wisdom.

The book compares ministry to a baseball game through some creative writing during its first half. It then gets technical and explains the principles during the second half. I consider this an essential read for leaders on my team.

The leadership team of my church did a study using this book, and it absolutely transformed our thinking. The material presented by the staff of Northpoint is liberating for those who have become trapped in a mindset of inward rather than outward thinking in church. This is good stuff--simple and powerful!

This book is a breath of fresh air for leadership teaching. I especially liked the "playbook" sections of the book. These sections are real ministry illustrated strategies that were played out by Northpoint church. I like it when church leaders share their failures as well as their successes. The book is open and honest.

I have been amiss in not writing a review of this book. It is a great little book on effective ministry. His ideas of seeking the win are great. Everyone wants to be on the winning team, and churches need to define what a win is. Also, his stuff on reviewing ministry is important. So many congregations do the work every year, but some of the programs are dead, but no one will stop them. His thoughts on narrowing the focus are wonderful. Many churches have followed the mega church model of program after program, that even Bill Hybels admits is not effective in transformation. Then finally his thoughts on listening to outsiders is needed. Most times we ask members how to grow, but really most members do not have a clue. We need to ask those who are not coming, they know why they are not there. This is a great book.

My vet recommended that I get this book. I am so glad that I did take his advise. What I have read so far has been a big help. Before getting this book, I felt helpless. Now I know that Merlin and I will still have a great life together. Thank you so very much.

This book was such a big help I thought my dog that went blind in three days would never have a good life. But since reading this book and using the information I gained from it I and my dog are enjoying things again and we are doing all the same things but just a little different.

I didn't find this book to be very helpful. It seems to be geared to having a pack of dogs as opposed to a single dog.

Either my dog is incredibly bright (okay, he is) or the book implies that dogs need far more training than I have found it to be for my dog.

My dog is completely blind. It happened over a period of a couple of months. He does very well at home and away and does not require all the aids the book suggests a blind dog might need.

My senior dog recently lost most of her vision. This book is excellent in providing ideas that work to help her navigate in the house, down the stairs and outside. The rug at the top and bottom of the steps helps her find her way and the scents added to certain door frames allowed her to find her way in and out of rooms without bumping her head or causing panic. I recommend this book to anyone who has blind or sight impaired animals.

I was devastated when my dog lost her vision. This book has helped me cope, given me reassurance and helped my dog enjoy life again. A must read for someone with a visually challenged pet.

This is an excellent book. It was recommended to me by a friend and worth every penny. Extremely motivating. I have two other books in the series that I enjoy just as much.

If you're looking for more of a closeness and intimacy with the Lord, this is a good book to read. I also recommend the power of a praying wife.

I cannot recommend this book enough. I have had it for two years and I'm STILL reading it and praying the prayers almost every week! Stormie's story is so inspiring and will bring hope to anyone in any situation. I have so much respect for her and her writing because of the suffering she went through in the first part of her life (before she knew God). This book has been life-changing for me and I whole-heartedly encourage you to read it!

Good study to help get you praying. Great for fans of the Power of the Praying... books.

This book has helped me grow as a praying woman. It does a great job explaining things like true repentence, sin, letting go of your past, etc. I have enjoyed reading this book and I refer back to it in my times of need.

Parents might worry that their child will find inappropriate sites on the Internet. It is important for parents to monitor their child's access to the World Wide Web and teach them proper use of it. This is not a television set with a limited number of channels. It is the information superhighway to the whole world. Think of it the same as traffic safety. You don't leave a young child playing unsupervised by a busy roadway. They could be hit by a car or kidnapped or attacked by a neighbor's dog. An older child after being taught basic principles is allowed more independence in that same situation.
Provide clear guidelines. Let your children know there are subjects or areas that you prefer to be off limits and explain why. Explore cyberspace with the child and talk about what they are seeing and doing.
Teach children safety rules for dealing with strangers online such as never giving out their full name, address or telephone number; never giving out a credit card number; or arranging to meet someone online without your permission. These are the same guidelines you probably use for telephone use in your home or for talking to strangers on the street.
Don't miss out on all the wonders of the World Wide Web. Take your child by the hand and set out on that information superhighway.

Our police department has worked with the author of this book in trying to help victims of cybercrimes. She really knows her stuff. She has even shared many things that my teens wish she hadn't. Now when they type POS, I know it means that they are telling their friends that their parent is looking over their shoulder.

When I don't know where to turn, I just turn to this book. I keep it next to my computer so my children can rely on it too. I was amazed that they enjoyed it as much as I did.

Next time, I'll buy the book BEFORE I buy the computer and set it up right.

I read this book when my mother bought it for me and my friends to read. I was very interested in what this person said about online safety and teens. Most talk about how terrible the internet is, but she thinks it's great for teens as long as we use it following safety rules.

My girlfriend was chatting with a boy she met online. He sent her pictures and said he loved her. She even talked to him on the phone. When he asked to meet her at the mall, I told her about the stories I read in this book, and gave her the book to read.

She didn't meet him after she read the stories about bad men who tried to trick girls into meeting them offline.

Her parents found out and found out that this boy wasn't really a boy.

Mrs. Aftab helps keep teens safe. I want to work for her group and help other teens.

My 12 year old daughter was stalked by someone online. I went to Cyberangels for help. Parry Aftab (the author) runs Cyberangels, which is the world's largest and best safety group. This book supports the group, and after Cyberangels helped me find the stalker (someone we knew!), we bought this book to read together. My daughter and her friends in Girl Scouts are now creating an online safety club, thanks to this book, and this incredible woman. Please buy it and support online safety and protect your family online.

I read Parry's first book, and all the other ones that copied it. This is by far the best book out there. It's got every answer to every conceivable questions, easy to understand and fun to read.

I'm a teacher and need to keep up on this subject, and no book, not even her first one, comes close to this book. It feels like she is giving you free tutoring on any question you have about your kids online, right at your side.

The low-key tour-de-force of a man truly concerned with our seas, its denizens, and those of us who share this planet with them.

Safina's descriptions of the world of Giant Blufin Tuna, Swordfish and Cod are truly extraordinary.

The insights into commercial longlining, and "factory"-fishing in general are very enlightening (and depressing).

His trip to the reefs of the South Pacific is equally eye opening (a true "must read" for anyone with a saltwater aquarium), and we all should know of the worlds largest fishmarket...

The statistics regarding the (former) cod fisheries on the North Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia are particularly appalling (I had no idea how much cod we as humans have consumed...)

The book is a well thought-out (and very readable) blend of the conflicts between people who make their living from the sea.

This incredible books covers an amazing amount of territory: From the tuna "sushi" brokers, to those who poison reefs (and themselves) with cyanide to bring us our decorative tropical fish. From the politicians trying to preserve fishery jobs (and their own), to the unfortunate salmon fishers of the Northwest United States, we see those who wish to save fish for future generations, and everyone point of view in-between.

There are no easy answers, and but if you like to be cognizant of how your food choices, voting decisions, and even where you go on vacation, affect our oceans and our granchildren's planet, this book is like a bolt of lightning.

Carl is a wonderful writer and brilliant scientist, this book covers a wide range of issues while keeping it lively and hopeful.

I bought this book for my daughter who will go to graduate school to study marine science next year. I have not read the book but based on other reviews I think this must be an excellent book especially my daughter is very much concerned about preserving nature. Anyway, I was a litle bit disappointed when I received the book. I ordered soft copy and the print was so small that I don't know whether it will turn off my daughter's interest since she is very nearshighted. I don't mind if the book is thicker or bigger.

Part exploration, part eloquent plea for action, this is the report of a scientist's journey toward understanding the plight of our seas. Safina travelled with tuna fishermen and coral research teams, salmon boats and conservationists fighting for the Columbia Gorge. Their stories are here, in their words, set against a backdrop painted by a Yale professor with the soul of a poet. The litany is one of collapsing fisheries and dying reefs, huge nets that are scraping the sea floor into a featureless, lifeless plain, unbridled greed, and people whose heritage as sailors and fishermen is disappearing in a generation. Here also is the graceful breach of a humpback whale, the slow lazy lolling of an ocean sunfish, and the bullet quick movement of bluefin tuna under Atlantic sunrises and Pacific sunsets. An altogether beautiful book about the slow death of the sea. Safina believes we can protect the bounty and diversity he so eloquently describes. The question he poses is, "Will we choose to?" and suggests that one way to help answer that is to ask another. "What if we don't?"

I'm only about halfway through this book, but it's so moving that I decided I needed to rave now. Carl Safina uses an amazing grasp of language to paint mental pictures of what he writes about. I work in the scientific community and have spent a lot of time on that water, and his writings are not only objective and scientifically sound, he constructs them in such a way that they are beautiful. You will have a thirst for each topic and region of which he writes. I borrowed this book from the library and had vowed to buy it before I'd finished the first chapter. It has only improved as I've proceeded.

I'd highly recommend this book to anyone with an interest in slate roofs. Very comprehensive and detailed. Exceeded my expectations.

excellent and very comprehensive. as a layman i feel jenkins has a knack for imparting his vast knowledge on slate roofs.

This is a comprehensive book and one of the few books devoted to slate roofs still in print. It tells you everything from installing to the care and repair of the roof. It's true that slate roofs can last 100 years but our roof is 80 years old and is between fair and poor condition. Slate roofing is a specialized art, slate roofing material is difficult to find, and the tools are expensive. It is very difficult to find someone to repair a slate roof, and it needs to be checked/ maintained every year. Despite this, we wanted to repair our roof because it is attractive an possibly less expensive than replacing the entire roof. When I was unable to find someone to repair our roof, I went on line and found Joe Jenkins site. Later I found his book at Amazon. Although the book is complete, it is difficult for a lay person to read though. We were able to tell that the last person to repair our roof didn't know what he was doing (sloppy tar all over). We couldn't find slate to match our roof anywhere. Luckily we discovered some extra under our porch. We bought ladder hooks to convert our ladder to a hook ladder, and this is as far as we got.

Whether you are and experienced slate roofer or a homeowner who might be considering investing in a slate roof, you'll enjoy this book.

I'll let the other reviewers talk about pictures and text and history and other aspects of the book. But the overwhelming sensation I got from this book is the passion Joseph Jenkins has for slate roofs. This is a man who absolutly loves what he is doing. When reading this book I really received the impression that slate roofs are a part of Joe Jenkins soul and he really, really wants to tell you all he knows about them. It's rare in life to find someone so impassioned about their occupation. I became absorbed not just for my own self interest but because Joe Jenkins knows what he is talking about. I was interested in finding out about slate roofs before I purchased; after reading this book-- I REALLY wanted one.

$30 is cheap tuition to have Joeseph Jenkins experience.

Matthew Kelly is a gifted, understandable author & speaker.

This is one of the best business concepts that I have ever heard. This book is a must own for everyone, but especially for business owners. The wealthy already understand this simple (yet profound) premise. What are you waiting on?

Matthew Kelly's little book, on the importance of employees' dreams, is well worth reading. For any manager who is wrestling with issues of engagement and retention, check this one out.

When I was younger I used to pick up business books off my dad's shelf and read them after devouring my own books. Now that I am in college, every so often my dad sends me books that he believes that I should read. At first I was skeptical about The Dream Manager, but when I finally found time to pick it up - I was blown away. I have never been moved by a business book, but this one conjured tears in my eyes. I think that this is not just a book that applies to HR departments or CEOs. In fact, I think that it is the perfect book for a college student becuase it is a time in life when they are meant to dream and dream big. This reminds them that this is something that should continue throughout their lives.

This 'short-read' is chuck full of reasons people will come to work for, and stay at work for their employers. Every HR Team should read this and take note. I require all of the CEOs that I Coach to read this book. This is inspiring and gives results that must be included in the vision of every company in the 21st Century. We can no longer exist without engaged and contributing employees, from management, through mailroom, through janitorial staff. This is a magnificent example of how we can hire and retain the most productive and contributing employee stream today. With the realization that shortages of talent and disengaged employees cost companies and corporations millions every year, this quick read provides some valuable answers. The cost of NOT providing what is in this book is too great for us as a society, as well as international corporate focus.

Reading and/or listening to this management story is a fun way to gain insight about people with whom we work and interact. I enjoyed the positive presentation about different perspectives and strenghts that people have and where the best place to deploy people with these attributes might be. The book encourages objective interactions that are win-win and non-judgemental.

Here we go again, another personality classification system and the author's premise that if you can stereo type people you can manage them more effectively. I don't see what this system has over other personality classification systems, such as MBTI (which has been around longer and more people seem to be familiar with).

The book tries to be humorous, but it just didn't work. The story telling wasn't bad, but I'd almost rather listen to nails on a chalk board then listen to the voices of the people reading this book.

Bottom line. I learned a little, but not much and I'd like my money back.

This loosely medieval management parable about "a king at his wits' end" has several winning characteristics. First, it's relevant without taking itself too seriously. The light, self-effacing - even occasionally tongue-in-cheek - tone makes it easily readable. Authors Sheldon Bowles, Richard Silvano and Susan Silvano actively engage readers with a brief interactive online test that reveals your personality "guild type." Then they draw on their narrative's strength to move forward. Many books about emotional intelligence give readers little practical help. This one is fun, helpful and entertaining even though its guild classification system may need additional tweaking. Apparently designed primarily for workplace applications, it lacks the specificity of the more familiar Myers-Briggs test, which in comparison practically predicts how you'll want your eggs cooked a month from next Tuesday. Notwithstanding these minor limitations, we recommend this book to managers, coaches, consultants, EQ practitioners and those HR folks burdened with softening the Type A corporate hearts who run most organizations.

I found Kingdomality (the test) almost 10 years ago. I took the test and was impressed by its accuracy. Since then, I have taken the online test 3 or 4 times more, with the same results.

So, when browsing on a local bookstore, I saw that the test creators had a book about Kingdomality, I did not hesitate and bought it.

What is Kingdomality (the test and the book) about? Well, it basically sustains that people can be grouped in 12 categories of personality types. These types are a function of how people see the world, what are their motivations, how do they interact with it. It's called Kingdomality because the personalities can be linked to "standard" professions in the Middle Ages (the time of Kingdoms...).

Those who have already taken the test and have enjoyed its simplicity and accuracy will enjoy this book. It will allow them to have a more comprehensive view of all the 12 types and how could they be used productively in a work environment.

For those who have not taken the test, but enjoy learning about new and different personality type tests, this is also a great book. The test concept is simple, and the types are clearly different among them. Still, I think I would advise all to take the test first and then read the book (doing otherwise might "contaminate" your test with your expectations for its results).

Well, as I said, I always got the same result in the test. So, in case you wonder, I seem to be a Merchant.

I had the chance to attend a book signing by Sheldon Bowles of his book Kingdomality. When he started to speak to a large crowd there was a table loaded with books and I wondered how many he'd sell. When he finished talking, we all rushed to the front to get a book and an autograph. By the time I got to him the books were all gone! Now I have a copy. This book contains so much insider information about how different people are motivated and why people behave as they do, that it seems like you become a mind reader. It's easy. It's accurate. It has given me the tools that make me a better manager, a better father, husband son and friend. In the paper here last weekend KINGDOMALITY was #1 on the bestseller list. I visited my local Christian bookstore (the biggest chain in Australia) and asked for something on "Stewardship" - blank stare and a few stutters... I then asked for something on "Christians and the environment" - oh yes, they could help me, and took me to the back of the store, to the top of the shelf, and there it was, one of three books on Christians and the environment. What I actually wanted was something on Christians and Sustainable Development, and this book more than met my needs.
It is fantastically written, easily digestible, a comfortable read, but it does not skirt any of the issues. It clearly ties together the notions of environmental degradation and human suffering, including the suffering of the poor in other countries who live miserable lives working to feed the consumption machine of the West.
We Christians have a biblical mandate to care for the poor and the oppressed and to care for the creation, and Dr Sleeth provides insightful and practical ways that we can do just that in our every day lives.

My fifteen year old daughter attends an online Christian highschool and she regularly is the "odd student out" on their online forum, disagreeing with the majority of her fellow high schoolers on everything from politics to capital punishment. We are proud that she is so passionate about her beliefs and we regularly have deep conversations with her about the world and our place in it as Christians.

One topic that comes up regularly is environmentalism. We are pretty passionate about being "green" and have always taught her that caring for the environment was a Biblical mandate and should be an integral part of every Christian's life. So, she started a forum topic about stopping global warming and got pounced upon by other Christian high schoolers stating things like, "global warming is a myth", "God wants us to take dominion of the earth", "Jesus is coming back again soon, so what is the difference - the earth will be destroyed." She was in shock that they held these beliefs and after talking through it and the reasons they said these things, as misguided and wrong as they were, I decided to go looking for some books for her that spoke about environmentalism from a Christian perspective. I ended up buying a few from Amazon and "Serve God Save the Planet" was the first one we read.

It is not what I was expecting. I was expected an indepth review of "saving the planet" and why it is critical for Christians. Instead, it gives an introductury, high level view of a number of subjects. The author's passion comes through and it is a window into his journey of faith and this includes saving the planet. The book is subtitled, "A Christian Call to Action" and that is exactly what the book is and what it did for me. While he does include a great chapter making a case for Christian's to care for the earth, most of the book is his sharing his own story and calling us to action.

It is easy to read and very impactful. Each chapter resonated with me and I felt myself nodding and getting pumped up, as it is exactly what I have always felt, but in many areas have lost touch. Besides caring for the earth, he writes about taking action and doing things, he writes about having too much stuff, taking a true day of rest each week, getting rid of television and replacing it with books, serving the poor and making a difference in the lives of others around the word and raising our kids to be help the poor and care for the world.

Since reading this, I've purchased a copy for my sister and my parents and my wife is now reading it and my daughter is almost finished. I'd recommend it to everyone. It is light reading and he doesn't go into depth on each subject, instead, he shares his story and get's you pumped up to take action.

I met Dr. Sleeth a few months ago when he came to South Florida. I just finished this book and I cannot fully communicate the appreciation I have for the truths he communicates. Everyone (especially Christians who aren't sure about the whole green/environmental thing) should read this. In the back of the book I have marked the things that I will be implementing into my life and have even made my own list of other ideas. I am encouraged and inspired; not in an in-the-moment emotional kind of way, but in Biblical, theologically sound way that is rooted in the heart of God and His heart for the earth. A great read for small groups, families, singles. Phenomenal book!!!

Dr. Sleeth's ideas changed my life. I now line-dry my clothes from April to November (jeans just don't air-dry during Pennsylvania winters), hand-wash dishes, and use compact fluorescent bulbs. I also switched to cloth diapers.

I always thought my grandma was crazy for hanging her clothes to dry and hand-washing her dishes. But doing these things relax my mind. I sing to myself, let my kids help out, and rest in the idea that we're all doing something to respect God's creation. Plus, we save money on our electric bill, and save forty dollars a month on diapers.

Get this book, read it, and apply it. It will change your life for the better. And the best part? It's fun. Trust me. :)

What I loved best about Serve God, Save the Planet, is that the author, Matthew Sleeth is obviously down-to-earth, and his writing is approachable, practical, and not holier-than-thou. It is a hopeful call to action for Christians who want to honor God in the way that they interact with this world and with our environment. I have recommended it to everyone I know. It will definitely be the gift of the year.
