His Grandmother Taught Him Well!Review Date: 2008-03-08
I am going to say that Smart Women Finish Rich is more for a financial beginner than a woman with financial savvy. It's a well thought out system of gaining and keeping control of your financial self-sufficiency. Bach has filled this book with definitions, resources, quizzes, systems, exercises and tables. I was impressed and give it a must read if you're serious about becoming more financially organized.
David Bach addresses both the heart and the head in Smart Women Finish Rich. He used the lessons he learned from his grandmother, and his mother, as inspiration. After growing up with two such powerful role models, he was surprised by the number of financially uniformed women. Many of the women who came to him for financial advice, had no clue about building financial security.
Smart Women Finish Rich is easy to understand. I read it and "got it." This is a "how to" book that involves a commitment on your part to read, work and put the assignments and lessons into daily practice. Bach has carefully given us valuable financial keys, now it's up to us to follow through.
What you'll get out of this book is going to depend on what you're willing to put into it. It's a book that has the potential to give you a great foundation for financial self-sufficiency.
Here are some of the areas I found particularly useful:
1.The first exercise, "Financial Knowledge Quiz" is a great practical place to start. I found it to be thoughtful and quite an eye-opener. I learned about how well (and sometimes not so well) I understood the role money played in my life.
2. David Bach is adamant about pinpointing the reason money is important to you. To find this out, you'll need to examine your money values and ask yourself if your financial behavior matches those values. He provides a simple but thoughtful exercise called the "Values Ladder."
3. Smart Women Finish Rich is a great blend of exercises, systems, quizzes and practical "real world" information. For example, the "Finish Rich File Folder System" is a simple, easy-to-follow and yet an organizational time saver.
I definitely give Smart Women Finish Rich five stars! If you're ready and serious about getting your financial house and monetary priorities in order, this is the book for you!

Buy Joe's other book, Attractor Factor, instead!Review Date: 2006-08-20
Very slim volume, very interesting conceptReview Date: 2007-04-26
Strangely, however, the short text did have a powerful effect on how I viewed my world after I read it. Joe's list of things to do is pretty short (list what you don't want, list what you do want, and then a few more steps, equally as simple.) What did happen is that I decided to restructure my thinking, considering every thought as to whether it was positive or negative. I also decided to fill up an envelope on my desk with "thank-you notes" to God, thanking him for all the positive things happening every day. (Not particularly something in this book, but based on Joe's ideas.) Each day, I jotted down an thank-you whenever something good happened. Then I popped it into an envelope I'm keeping on my desk. A week later, the envelope was full to bursting. Some seemingly negative things happened but I decided to treat them like opportunities, keeping a cheerful frame of mind while dealing with the issues. If nothing else, I felt good during the process.
Maybe this is all about how you view the glass; a half-glass full of refreshing water, or a half-empty glass heading to a full-fledged drought. For whatever reason, despite the fact this is a very short book, it can get you to thinking. Maybe that's it's power.

Best HTML Book Around!Review Date: 2005-04-15
One of the classes I took included a web design portion. How fun to create web pages that were exciting and not boring. It was easily accomplished using this book as a guide but someone who knows nothing about HTML design could easily use this and create.
The chapters are broken down from the basics to intermediate items. The author, Dave Taylor, explains exactly what entails a web page, what a URL is, basic html, graphics, tables, links, pointers, image maps, and other advanced designs.
Now many technical books are dry to read and often times leave the non-die-hard techies wondering what was just said. Not true with Taylor. He gets everyone to understand html - those creating their first web page to those who want to do more, those that want pizzazz on their pages.
If you're not a beginner, you may want to skip the chapters in which Taylor explains to new users about Web pages, how browsers work, what URLs are, and other basic concepts. (But it can be a good refresher for those who haven't designed web pages in a while). Next he expands into basic HTML, fonts, text styles, and gets the reader to understand the making of lists, special characters, pointers, and links. Next comes the explanation of graphics and the creation of tables and frames. But my favorite part is next - chapters on advanced items like background, marquees, image maps, JavaScript, forms, plug-ins, Dynamic HTML, style sheets, and much more.
Examples shown in the book are easy to follow and let the reader completely understand what the code does and how it will look on a web page. Nothing in CREATING COOL HTML PAGES is overwhelming and will let everyone create a web page of which they can be proud. I'm a computer programmer, and still use this as a reference. In fact, it's one of the most borrowed books in our office! This book is highly recommended for any level of html programmer.

Good Book In PrincipleReview Date: 2008-09-21
If you think positively and do what you like, the money will follow. I think positively and do what I like. I earn less than $10,000 a year. Am I happy? I love what I do. I wish I earned more, but wouldn't trade what I do to make more money in doing something I hate.
My husband hates his job. He works hard and worries a lot. He makes $40,000 a year.
All my friends, and by all I mean 100% of them, who are into the thought-produced method to wealth is guided by postive thinking make less than $25,000 a year. My wealthy friends, those who make over $100,000 a year are professional lawyers and doctors who work very hard and love what they do in fields that are known to be well-paying.
By discounting the importance of money and focusing on service, the theory is the money will follow. Some people do this and run successful businesses. Some who do this will make less than normal for the job. Most people who do this will earn the typical of what they do anyway for doing their job. Whether you read this book or not, you will fall into one of the laws of averages.
I know someone who works at a shelter soup kitchen who loves what he does, but doesn't get money for this job. He lives a hand to mouth existence.
Another person I know is a single father who does the type of work he enjoys just so he can be with his children. They scrap by on welfare most of the time.
However, if you want to feel happier about giving your best at what you do and making your life in general easier by not worrying about the money (or lack thereof), then by all means read through this pep rally book. It is a good philosophy to live by and I would recommend this one over The Secret.
Give all your best to others and the odds that you will have something positive come back your way are great. It might not be money. It could just be good feelings. If you can be happy with that, more power to you. On chance, maybe you will hook up with a connection that can guide you to the wealth you want...but statistically, how many really get that lucky?
If you are thinking of getting this because you believe by manipulating your thoughts will draw riches to you without you doing anything else, then you will be disappointed. You must give something to receive something.
Meditation in general is a good way to focus on all of your options with a clear mind to help you decide a better path in getting things done. If your mind is clouded with worry, you tend to choose the less productive options and run into limited ways in dealing with problems. If anything this book is good at helping, it is to find a simple way to meditate.
Sorry to burst your bubble if you were expecting me to tell you this book is the key to your wealth. I won't. It is a good book filled with positive thoughts, I won't knock that, but it won't get you rich unless you do something that merits wealth.

Creating can be done through spiritual principlesReview Date: 2008-09-24
Lives up to its TitleReview Date: 2007-01-25
Whereas some books lean towards more on the "spiritual side of abundance" rather than the "money aspect" this book doesn't lose its main subject "money" which I found very satisfying. Also, some authors focus mainly on "deblocking" and "resolving money-related-issues and feelings" which I personally believe only gets you to the "zero state" (you've just gotten rid of a problem, but you haven't become "much richer"). This book has exercises that helps you to magnetize clients, a number of customers, and a sum of money which I found very helpful.
Bottomline is that the book delivers what the title suggests.
I have several books by Sanaya Roman, and the other books are focused more on spiritual aspects, but this one really does a neat job of talking about money, about creating money.
In terms of "immediate results" this book comes second to another book I have written by Babaji (sp?) but I still find myself reaching for this book over and over again, especially when I am in my "entrepreneur mode" of thinking.
Hope some of this helps. Namaste.
FINALLY !!!Review Date: 2007-08-20
Then, a couple of weeks ago, I got past some of my own emotional baggage about money. Those of us who consider ourselves "spiritual" often have issues with having, saving, investing and just enjoying money. Many of us were taught that the love of money is the root of all evil. Well, once I saw and really let go of my own issues about wealth and allowed myself to see that it's just another form of benefit we're meant to enjoy in this life ... the next DAY ... this book crossed my path. And it's EXACTLY the book I knew somehow in my heart HAD to exist.
In short, this book is about how to use the same spiritual power many of us have used to reshape other parts of our lives (health, relationships, vocations, lifestyle) to completely transform our financial lives and our general experience of abundance and prosperity. Far from being a brief or vague treatment of the topic, the authors take us step by step through the mental and emotional work we need to do to tap into our spiritual ability to draw to us the wonderful financial experiences we want in our lives. As my partner and I read this book together, we kept stopping to say to each other "this is just EXACTLY what we've been looking for."
The power of Love ... our spiritual power to create all and only that which benefits us and those around us ... can be used to create the wealth and prosperity we long for. As we read the chapters of this book that walked us through the "how to" of creating wealth, it mirrored our own instincts about the subject so perfectly, it was as if the book had been written for us. Written in 1988, on one level, I can't imagine how I never saw this book before. But I know that my own issues about actually EXPERIENCING ... HAVING ... ENJOYING money fully ... kept me from finding it. As soon as I was ready, POOF ... the book appeared in my life.
What does this book teach, in general terms? #1 - That as a spiritual being, you have the ability to create unlimited benefit in your life ... and that includes financial benefit. #2 - that the way to create that benefit is not through hard work, worry, greed or worldly risk. #3 - That the path to creating completely beneficial wealth ... wealth not only in terms of money but also in terms of free time, spending your time doing what you enjoy most and what benefits those around you most ... in ALL forms ... lies in taking personal responsiblity for the thoughts and feelings you have within yourself about prosperity ... and activing taking steps to change those thoughts and feelings so that you use your spiritual creative power to bring into your life the wealth you want. #4 - That it's not only POSSIBLE to experience the abundance you want while doing with your life what you really want to do most ... doing what you love most is essential to opening yourself to the abundance you have the power to draw into your life.
Easy to read, logically put together, the authors do a wonderful job of showing us exactly what we need to do to learn to use our spiritual power ... the miraculous creative power of love ... to experience total financial healing. They present a book in some ways similar to Louise Hay's books on healing your body and life through the use of the mind and heart. But where "Heal Your Body" focuses on using love and the power of our thoughts and feelings to take responsibility for transforming our physical health, this book does something similar in the real of finances, and it does a wonderful job.
I just purchased and read this book in the past few days ... I'll keep you posted on the real world results as they develop. But if my experience using this book is anything like my experience using the writings of Louise Hay, our financial challenges should soon be as much a thing of the past as are my old ulcer, knee problems, hyper-acidity, chronic head and neck aches, tendonitis and coutless other problems that used to plague me that are now completely gone.

Detailed steps, clear guidelines/recommendations provide confidence in making your own beautiful polymer beads!Review Date: 2008-09-04
My main interest in this book has been section two "Faux Techniques" - wood, marble, ivory/bone, leather, amber, coral bronze, abalone, jade, mother-of-pearl (amazing), silver, malachite, turquoise, lapis, onyx, agate. For the most part, I have been extremely pleased at the outcomes of my efforts, but some of Blackburn's representations of imitating certain things could be better. Lapis - get the book "Polymer-The Chameleon Clay" by V. Hughes in order to get a more realistic lapis stone appeal, same as for jade - but this 2nd book is horrible when it comes to Turquoise (also described in Blackburn's book but still not as realistic as I would like...a difficult stone to mimic). So I use the Hughes book for some faux items. Blackburn does have some outstanding examples (IMHO) of Wood (not the ultimate best, but close); Veined Marble - compared to the real thing, I was amazed; Coral bead work was admirable and worth practicing to get it just right; Abalone - love it - very realistic; Jade was comparable to Hughes work; Mother-of-Pearl - truly striking, especially when making the colored pearls; Malachite - close but before YOU make it examine natural malachite in order to develop a more realistic color pattern but still closely following Blackburn in the color production end; Onyx - MY FAVORITE - actually it is more like a natural agate stone as typically when you think of onyx, it is black. Blackburn's Onyx is highly layered using products that I wish I would have thought of...but now I know...in order to get a REALLY natural looking agate stone bead. Blackburn's section on "Agate" in the "Faux Techniques" applies more to a cut stone of agate and she has produced some interesting pendant type pieces. But again, get an Agate book and try to mimic some of the patterns of real agates following Blackburn's technique. You won't be sorry.
Sections to use other books or to keep trying to find better ways to mimic these items are: silver, turquoise, lapis, bronze (this could go either way for some of Blackburn's pieces are admirable - same with her amber pieces), ugh on the leather look, and noooo on the ivory and bone beads. Books with more realistic bone are "The Polymer Clay Techniques Book" by S. Heaser - and pay attention to the antiquing section for bone or "Faux Surfaces in Polymer Clay" by I.S. Dean where the best looking bone look is shown. However, both these books lack the more detailed descriptions and images that Blackburn provides in her book. Yet, Blackburn's work/descriptions are a great way to start from in getting the look you may want using products she recommends.
In the 3rd section of the book called "Bringing It All Together" - she does a great job of pulling the necessary items needed to really make the beads - from various jewelry findings, cording, attaching, designing...thus flowing smoothly into the final section "The Gallery." Many of the great polymer bead artists' work is shown here and definitely grab your attention. Yet this section is small as Blackburn focuses upon the other areas mentioned above and thus earning more stars from me as that is the reason I wanted the book...not for the gallery but for the great guidelines and examples to help ME develop my own pieces.
With all this being said...or rather written...by me, I guess I have to say there is not just one book for all things in polymer clay. However, I feel the layout, descriptions, images and all around clarity by Blackburn makes her book stand out in my library. I am glad to have the NUMEROUS other books, magazines, etc. on polymer clay plus seeing some of the extraordinary work by many artists focused on this medium - all of which increases my drive to improve my own work with polymer clay...and hopefully your own work as well. This medium is amazing and so available - use Blackburn's book as a great stepping stone and you definitely will not be disappointed.

The Step-by-Step Guide for Selling SolutionsReview Date: 2008-02-09
I had wanted to title this review as "The Idiot's Guide to Selling Solutions" BUT found that even though the instructions in the book literally takes a novice in sales through the process of selling complex solutions in a very straightforward manner, there STILL needs to be some thinking required by the sales person to profit from the knowledge within.
Solution Selling is the comprehensive guide for novice to learn the ropes, and a good reference book for seasoned sales pros as well. It is also a useful tool for sales managers to manage the pipelines of their teams too!

A Further Step Along 'The Psychic Pathway'Review Date: 2007-05-31
Then, using these 9 principles Sonia outlines--1)focus 2)the support of the subconscious 3)imagination 4)eliminating obstacles 5)intuitive guidence 6)supporting your dream with love 7)surrending control to the Universe 8)claiming your dream) and 9)being true to your dream, she shows you how you can actually make your dream come true.
I especially liked the 7th principle--in which she says that after you have done the primary work--the Universe kicks in and does its part.
This principle takes faith and patience to wait, as your 'heart's desire' alligns with the Divine Spirit in the Universe.
Writing with a deep sense of the spiritual, an insight gained over years of living and practicing her psychic gifts, Sonia uses examples from her own life and those of her clients to illustrate her points.
She also uses humor and practical good sense to guide the ordinary person into an extraordinary life.
