This book follows my course word for word since my professor is Dr. King. It is very helpful for learning pathology and includes background info in immuno, endo, biochem, physio and histology for anyone who doesn't have a strong background in those subjects.

I think, this book is better than other reviews of physiology for the USMLE step 1 (for example, "BRS Physiology", "USMLE Road Map: Physiology", and "Rapid Review: Physiology") - it's much better illustrated, focuses only on the most relevant topics, and, at the same time, nothing, what is high yield, is missing here. The author - Dr. Carroll - is the man, who creates physiology MCQs for the USMLE step 1, so, I guess, he knows exactly, what material will be tested on the actual exam - and, I hope, he has presented what he knows in his book. One word of caution only - "Elsevier's Integrated Physiology" doesn't contain neurophysiology - Elsevier's Integrated series has a separate title for neuroanatomy and neurophysiology - "Elsevier's Integrated Neuroscience".

I never expected to find my calling in emergency medicine. And this book was not responsible for changing my mind on that. However, thanks to this book I now feel I have a better handle on emergency medicine than I ever could have hoped to gain. This book should be required for everyone who's pre-med, attending medical school or working in or around emergency medicine.

I ordered a number of competitor volumes for comparison, and this is simply the best of the group. Yes, it's expensive, but worth every penny. The online access is an added bonus for quick access when away from these heavy volumes. Superb photographs, illustrations, and content!

This was a good book - and I don't even usually like books like this, where the world has ended and people start all over again. After an hour or so, you can't put this thing down. The characters are great and the plot really is original - you haven't read anything like it before. The science part was very good and the adventure was great.

There are two things that bothered me a little. Most of his characters are likable, but Mr. Olsen has a style that includes showing some characters that come and go like in real life, where you see them in one or two scenes and then never see them again. It feels real, but I was left feeling that I wanted to know more about what happened to some of them. I suppose that will help sell the sequel.

The other thing was that he includes a separate but related novelette called the "Star Of India" where a group of people escape the plague by sailing away from civilization on an old ship. It was a real good story, but too short. I really wanted it to be longer and more detailed.

This one is worth buying and passing on to your friends.

This set is at the library at my university. I like it so much, that I wanted to purchase it. Alas, on a student's budget, I cannot afford the price!
