A disclaimer at the beginning of Taxes for Online Sellers: A How-To Guide for Individuals on Federal Tax for Internet Sales warns that if legal advice is required, the competent professional help should be sought. That being said, Taxes for Online Sellers is an excellently researched guide to how American tax laws work with regard to online sales, whether or not one is considered a business, which income must be reported, what records of online sales are necessary to keep, how to keep track of one's income, inventory, and expenses, taking depreciation into account, specific big-ticket sale items such as business equipment and vehicles, and much more. An extensive appendix listing a wide assortment of reproducible tax forms, a glossary, and an index round out this enthusiastically recommended primer for anyone considering or engaging in online sales on amazon, ebay, or their own website.

Taxes for Online Sellers was written as a small business tax guide, especially for the online seller. It covered all my questions I had about my internet income. It is easy to read and even includes copies of the tax forms in the back of the book for reference. It gave me specific, line by line, instructions for filling out my tax forms. It explained how to handle inventories and what I buy at yard sales and flea markets. There's a website for updates to the book, so you don't have to buy a new version every year to find the new tax laws. This is definitely a keeper and well worth the price.

This book is laid out very well. It is easy to skip to the areas that you need to focus your study time on and includes an 80 practice exam and pracitce questions through out the book. The all the answers are given and justifications for the practice problems are provided as well. There are my pictures and examples to help explain concepts and also study and test taking tips.

From a price stand-point: I had already heard how good this book was, but I feel that even though there were cheaper study guides out there that this was a good investment.

While other books on Online Counseling are:

1) Too many years dated (check the publication dates!)
2) Bogged down with computer science theory that has little to do with counseling practice
3) Provide more questions than answers, and leave the reader more confused than he/she stared

This Clinical Training Guide actually prepares the reader to begin his or her own Telephone Counseling and Online Counseling practice.

The work is content rich (content loaded actually!), but at the same time readable; and even a bit entertaining.

When you purchase this work the author will send you an electronic copy (PDF) usually within a few hours of purchase. And if you're not happy with the content provided, the author backs his materials up with a 60 day money back guarantee! So you have nothing to lose--and you won't be disappointed with this resource!

Crime Fiction with a local twist

I really enjoyed this work by a local Seattle author. Very engaging, lots of great twists and turns. It captured well the changing flavor of the Northwest, revealing a seedy underbelly swelling under the stormy skies. Seldom do I read a book cover to cover in these busy times...but this one had me going to the end.

After being released from prison, ex-con, Booney Dugan, wants to make a fresh start. Unfortunately his best friend has other ideas. When the beautiful, Colleen McCarver, enters his life and presents Booney with a plan to make four million dollars for their early retirement, things quickly get complicated. Throw in a botched robbery and a kidnapping and this thrilling novel turns breathtaking.

The author creates clear, crisp dialog, which enhances the story's furious pace, especially in the later chapters. Roach creates dialog as skillfully as Faulkner does in his story, "The Bear." The author has a knack for capturing mood that will remind a reader of Tawni O'Dell's best seller, "Back Roads." An English teacher might be put off by his use of punctuation and sentence structure, but it's a great vehicle for moving the plot along
quickly without wasting words. The prose is incisive and very persuasive.Each character is consistent in their actions, speech, dress and mannerisms, and has a purpose for being "on stage." The plot is solidly structured and well thought out with a minimum of irrelevant material.

This novel deserves a large audience and should be placed at the top of a readers list of "must reads." If you like an action-packed story with Elmore Leonard type characters, don't miss this one. Considering my propensity for being a critical reviewer, I have to give, "Think Fast" a well-deserved five star rating.

Starting on the Canadian and U.S. West coast the author takes the reader on a thrilling voyage to a large number of fascinating places and places not so good. The cruel side of International Business and human greed is exposed in all its potential in a spectacular story, starting from events most likely to have occured. The author displays an impressive knowledge in many interesting subjects and areas which offers the reader a moment of pleasant reading and widens the horizons.

It's an excellent book! Especially for you guys who like The Saint and James Bond type of books.

It has really interesting characters, everything from a Swedish Trade Commissioner to a high ranking Nazi. It must be based on real, living, and breathing people?

The scenerys are beautifully described, and so is all the good food that they eat. It is so well described that it makes you so physically hungry, that you just want to jump in and join them . It is a must read!

I am currently reading the second part of the trilogy, and it is as good, maybe even better than The Trade Commissioner.

In short, buy it!!!

Description from back of book -- "Computer networking has created dramatic new possibilities for connecting language learners in a single classroom or across the globe. This collection of activities and projects makes use of e-mail, the World Wide Web, computer conferencing, and other forms of computer-mediated communication for the foreign and second language classrooms at any level of instruction. Teachers from around the world submitted the activities compiled in this volume -- activities that they have used successfully in their own classrooms."

I found this book to be very helpful. I am a homeschooling parent who is always looking for ways to make lessons both easier and more enjoyable for my children. This book fulfilled both purposes!

Ultimate Web Services reference book: Broad coverage, concise and comprehensiv
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 8 total.
Review Date: 2007-11-12
As Web services are becoming one of the most popular technologies for a wide range of demanding IT applications, there is a growing need to get a thorough understanding of the foundations, principles, methodologies, technologies and protocols that under-pin them. This need, which is felt both by practitioners and the Computer Science students, is addressed superbly by the "Web services: principles and technology" book of Mike Papazoglou, one of the pioneers and world experts in the field.

Rarely will you find a book on Web Services that covers such an incredible broad range of inter-related topics with such authority and depth. The book is well organized, well written, broad, concise and comprehensive. It is an excellent coverage of the whole world of Web Services spanning principles, methodologies, engineering and technologies, which it all expertly laces together and explains with amazing clarity and sufficient details to allow a true and deep understanding of the subject.

The book covers such topics as:

* Distributed Computing Infrastructures, EAI systems and business-to-Business integration techniques
* Service Description and Publication
* Reliable Messaging and Event Notification
* Service-Oriented Architectures & the Enterprise Service Bus
* Web Services and Workflows
* Web Services Transactions
* Web Services Security
* Web Services Policies and Agreements
* Semantics and Web Services
* Business Protocols
* Web Services Development Life-cycle with emphasis on techniques for service analysis (including "as-is" and "to-be" analysis), design and service implementation options
* Web Services Management
* Grid and Mobile Services

This book is the definitive guide on Web services - excellent coverage on fundamentals, principles, operating guidelines combined with non-trivial case studies and examples which illustrate the design and engineering of Web services in a real-world setting. It provides a very precise, thorough and comprehensive treatment of Web services. Unlike other books, it goes beyond mere Web service standards, programming and implementation by placing emphasis on understanding of the concepts, principles, mechanisms and methodologies underpinning Web services.

I'm using this book in a Master's course at the University of Groningen and had a great response from the students, while I found my work as an instructor greatly facilitated by the clarity of the presentation and the available material (power point notes) for instructors. This said, I consider the book absolutely adequate also for self-study and for the novice who wants to explore the landscape of Web services.

To summarize, this book is an excellent and authoritative journey into the world of Web Services. It is an incredible read! Highly recommended!!

Broad, easily readable, and comprehensive - highly recommended tour

This book stands out from the vast array of contemporary SOA and Web services literature in many ways:

1) It presents business context and technical requirements for Web services design on an adequate level of detail.
2) It provides important historical insight without putting the reader to sleep.
3) It covers relevant related work such as e-business, EAI, and networking as needed, unlike most other Web services books.
4) It separates abstract concepts such as messaging from implementation technology such as JMS appropriately, but shows the connections when needed.
5) It builds up a non-trivial example that demonstrates how the various specifications fit together, many unique illustrations help to digest.
6) It has non-trivial exercises that will deepen your understanding.
7) The author's has a hype-free, vendor-neutral writing style and is very experienced in his field.

It always is a good sign if as a reader I want more... so I would also have been interested in the author's view on the ongoing WS-*/SOAP vs. REST debate, and about adoption of the presented concepts and technologies in the industry (tools and project usage); for example, UDDI does not seem to have much traction these days. Maybe something for the Website accompanying the book, which will also have additional material for students and lecturers?

As a practicing IT architect, I have helped many companies to transform their existing applications into Web services-based SOAs. As a book author, I have captured my own experience with the technology in writing. As a researcher, I now investigate many of the architecture design issues the author points out. Still, I find this book to be very educational and informative; I highly recommend it for practitioners, students, and researchers that want to understand the big picture as well as technical rationale and details behind the various concepts and technologies. Those of you that believe some WSDL-to-Java wizards or RESTful POX/HTTP calls are all that is required for successful enterprise development and integration, please do have a look as well - you will begin to appreciate that there is more to the picture!
