Vanilla gets pissed! And takes it out on Chocolat. Chocolat has other great friends that she can depend on, but her best friend is Vanilla. Pierre is so sneaky, cold, and calculating. Don't you want to read and find out how it all gets played out? I know I just wanted to keep reading, especially since events in the anime compared to this are cut, rearranged, and changed!

The Kandor stories may be some of the best Silver Age Superman and this is a great collection of what are probably the best Kandor stories of the Silver Age. These stories are classic. I greatly enjoyed this collection.

Superman: The Bottle City of Kandor trade paperback; don't pass this one by. While some of the stories dwell directly on the bottled Kryptonian city of Kandor; many others deal with it in only in a passing nature.
The bottled city of Kandor was one of those small innovations that had a big impact on the DC Universe. When Brainiac came and shrunk several earth cities (Super-Duel in Space, Action Comics #242 1958); Superman comes to the rescue and by the end of the story almost nonchalantly puts the bottled city of Kandor (containing a living remnant of his once mighty civilization onto a shelf in his Fortress of Solitude as casually as we would a vacation souvenir away.
But like a genie once the bottle is opened.....
The stories that follow (mostly form the late 1950's and 1960's) deal with: Kryptonian identical twins of Superman and his supporting cast; Superman and Jimmy Olsen in super drag as Nightwing and Flamebird (the bottled city's own dynamic duo); Lois and Lana falling in love with someone from the bottled city; Jimmy Olsen not only being trapped in the bottled city but also being snubbed once again by the ever fickle Lucy Lane. (and her duplicate to boot).
To say this is a mere slice of silver age magic (drawn largely by master artist Curt Swan) is an understatement.
Well worth the $14.99 cover price.

I picked up a translation of this series while living in Japan. The entire series is fantastic. I could relate very well from my past experiences working as a temp and as an administrative assistant. Things aren't so different in the US from how women are treated in business environments in Japan. There are sharp jokes about the way that women are under valued and how the OL's adapt to deal with it. The girls are also hung over in every third strip. Very VERY funny!

A.K.A. "OL Shinka-Ron". "OL" is Japanese "English" stands for "office ladies," usually means women office clerks. This is popular gag cartoon series, which shows the daily business scenes in Japanese companies with satire and black humor. If you are doing business with Japanese companies, this book will give you some understanding of what Japanese business persons are thinking and doing at their office.

This series of comic strips is a light-hearted look at life as a 20-something "office lady" in Japan.
While the girls are pre-occupied with enjoying life, their parents are worried about obtaining the best possible husband-provider, their bosses are worried about them falling asleep on the job after playing too many computer games the night before, and their easily-dumped boyfriends are all-too often confused and manipulated. It's like a less ... focused comic version of "Sex And The City".
The 5-volume bilingual collection has the original Japanese to help those wishing to learn, but it's a fun read in any event.
Too bad Kodansha don't plan on continuing the series after the 5th volume.

i'm not gonna lie - i'm a fan of this series, so this review may be biased. i watched the anime first and was hooked on it, but found out the manga goes beyond what the anime covered, so i decided to buy the manga as well.
the anime is more mature than the manga - there's no nudity and not much fan service. it covers the story in a deeper tone. the manga, so far, is a bit more lighthearted, but there's a great story under all the fluff. i think the ecchi part of the manga may deter some readers from giving it a better score. i recommend watching the anime first because then you'll know what the main story is about, and then read the manga to enjoy the extras.

I love these books! I have not written a review for the others in the series, but believe me, they are excellent 5 stars all!! Usagi is a loveable character who people actually keep falling in love with, and I actually feel bad for all the guys who are not Hanzo, becuase they are all so heart broken. especially poor Goemon, I really hope that he can just realize that maybe he loves Usagi as just a sister and will find that Yuri is more to his taste...and poor Yuki...I just know that he is going to make another apearence and he doesnt have anyone! :( I dont care so much for Ranmaru, he's alright, but he really needs to get over the whole lets capture all the Iga ninja and kill them thing...Usagi is soooo lucky!! all those good looking men and all to herself...especially Hanzo...anyway, fantastic series, well worth the time and money!
By far, the most provocative volume yet!

I have always liked the drawing style of Ueda-sensei and this cover tells exactly what to expect in the manga. It's the most provocative cover I've seen and the manga inside is too. As you know from the product information, Kame has been injured and she and Usagi are captured by Ranmaru. But Ranmaru doesn't kill them and bring their heads to Nobunaga (as he'd sworn to do) and it's not because he was lovers with Kame. (hint: Usagi's innocence and pure-heart seems to charm the men she meets) ;) Usagi and Kame's resourcefulness as koinochi (female ninja, experts of the art of seduction) helps them escape, but Hanzo already had found out where they were so they weren't alone in the escape. Kame returns home, and Hanzo and Usagi must return to the village to get Mamezo and Master Tanaba. Usagi and Hanzo get some alone time (finally) when caught in a rainstorm and forced to take shelter in a cave and... ;)
Note: as a parental warning, there are some make-out sessions in here, but, as always, Ueda-sensei doesn't show any detailed nudity or graphic sexual scenes. They're still pretty sensual and provocative (I use these word sbecause I can't think of better ones that fit). You may wish to read this before allowing your teen under 16 to read it. As I said before there isn't any detailed scenes, but they still are "sex scenes" in the loosest usage of that phrase (no sex, just lots of smooching, skin, and making out).

Just let me start by saying- I'ma HUGE manga fan! When I first started reading this manga I thought it was kinda kiddy and immature because of the artwork and storyline. But as the story progresses, the characters are developing and I keep finding delightful little prizes! Not only is the story very romantic, but it's witty and cleverly funny at just the right moments. It's also quite exciting and a real page-turner. I'm looking forward to every one in the series and am proud to say this is one of my favorite mangas ever, enjoyability-wise!!

A realistic and fun look at high school life, love, and sexuality

Wow! I've started reading this online at www.NETCOMICS.com, and I may just be tempted to pick up the whole book. It's great, and what I really enjoy about the story is that it has a premise and characters that anyone who felt (or presently feels) out of place in high school can relate to--no matter what their sexuality.
"Tales of the Closet" really captures many of the aspects of teenage life that alternatively make you wince and crack a smile. I know some people who read comics want entirely to escape into fantasy, which is why science fiction, modern day Cinderella stories, and fantastical epics exist. Yet, there are also a lot of people who would feel happiness and relief in recognizing some real life, and some of themselves, in a comic book--especially for people going through similar things to what Velez's characters are going through. Characters whose experiences help you feel less alone in the world are a big part of what makes "Tales of the Closet" so valueable.
Also, I enjoyed the character interaction and dialogue, and the drawings are very good! The characters look realistic and have dynamic facial expressions. So, two thumbs up :-D
