Narumi Kakinouchi, creator of Juline, has done it again. She has made yet another wonderful series that keeps readers on edge. Juline is completely different from her other work, Vampire Princess Miyu (which BTW, is absolutely wonderful), in the fact that it's more light and humorous. There's even romance but plenty of action. I can't wait to read the next one. I only hope she doesn't stop this series there.

Ok, for those that love yaoi this is by far the best series I have ever read, the books are kind of explicit but the romance shown in this series is far the best. I have cried, I have Aawwed, I have laughed. At times the situations are so cute I just end up blushing. It isn't like other yaoi titles that just goes straight to the sex, this story is just that a story of pure romance which is what Junjo Romantica means. I highly recommend it.

Karin is at the hot springs, when she is suddenly attacked by Kirio Kasuma(aka Mr Glasses Man). Of course she transforms, but for some insane reason, someone swapped her ring with Kazune's.
(He comes out looking insane with his hair in pigtails!!!)
Later in the book, she realises that she actually likes Kazune, and the real reason that she always went around with Kirika was to annoy him. Kirika, however turns out to be a girl? Why did she hide it?? Find out in book 5.

Kare Kano is a Japanese high school drama that my girlfriend got me into. As a guy I am embarrassed to say that I like it. I am, however, hooked and I will own the whole series before the year is out.

A must buy for Kare Kano beginners

This cheap and money saving collection of volumes 1 through three was a great collection to get me to start reading the Manga. The whole series so far has been an amazing ride. This was heart-racing and was full of suspense for the relationship of Arima and Yukino (could be mispelled or not even her name). I've also enjoyed reading Tsudo diary, a small diary that the manga artist put after every volume. It's quite funny.

Shojo fans will be thrilled, beginning Shojo fans will be shocked, and boys will fall in love with the genre with the popular series. I recommend this collection for those who want to start the series. Why wait with suspense for volumes two when you can just read them right away?

The bad thing is.. it's not the whole series. I better go and get myself volume four before it's sold out!

What would you do if the principal of your school asked you to break up with the person you were dating for the sake of the future and the sake of your grades? Well, that's what happened to Yukino (sic) and Arima (sic?). I've probably mispelled them. Anyways, this volume was the best I could hope for, and I am looking forward to purchasing the fourth volume very soon.

For those who have tried volume two, well, stop trying and try volume three. You will soon become a dedicated fan for this delightful Shojo series. I really enjoyed Tsudo Diary in parts of the chapters. It was nice to see a Manga artist have a little diary inside a Manga, and boy was it also funny.

I can't recommend Kare Kano enough! And this third book in the series is awesome! This book introduces Maho, a girl in Yukino's class who doesn't like her and knows she's the vanity queen! What's going to happen?!!(I know, but you have to read to find out, I wouldn't want to spoil it!) The anime is just like the manga, but you should watch that (It's fantastic!) and read the manga b/c the manga came first and it has extra stories!! Have fun!!

The Culture Festival is here and Aya's Steel Snow is underway. Although there is lots of humor in the series, this volume is mostly serious and even the play's story is pretty interesting. I've noticed how well Masami Tsuda expresses her characters through simple facial looks. Did anyone feel a little uneasy with Arima's look towards the end? It just makes me yearn that much more for volume 10. Also, Tonami makes a big decision despite the painful consequence it may hold for him. And Tsubasa is so *kawaii* as Antique!

Fellow fans, the wait for each volume is so worth it.

Aya's play and the cultural festival!

This installment of Kare Kano has some cute side stories, but the main focus is Aya's play, Steel Snow. All three of the actresses (including Yukino, Tsubasa, and Maho) perform to their best ability a play that hits close to home for Arima. I think Masami Tsuda did a marvelous job tranferring a play into a manga form. But the end of the book is the most important of all; it ends the "Yukino arc" as Tsuda puts it and starts the arc of Arima. A must read for all Kare Kano fans!

I teach art and have had many requests to teach anime. I don't draw in the anime/manga style and struggled to do so. Christopher Hart's book is a great tie-in or introduction to Fantasy Manga. His style is similiar to mine in that it is a bit more cartoony than traditional anime/manga style. While some people might criticize the book for that, I think it's an awesome book with lots of color pictures. It even had some tips and tricks I didn't know. It would be useful for a beginner or a resource for someone more experienced. If you are looking to draw like someone else or in the more traditional style of anime/manga then this book is not for you. But if you are looking to develop your own style or like the more Americanized look to your anime/manga drawing then I would highly recommend it!

Motivating for the young beginner cartoonist. My kids loved this easy to follow instructive book. Fantasy goes wild with just a few tips and direction. Beginning with the basic figures, adding hair styles, eye shapes & general body posture brings the magna life & character. Many examples to follow or just be inspired by makes this book a fantastic entertaining guide to manga drawing

This edition has two exciting Kim Possible episodes, "Attack Of The Killer Bebes" and "Monkey Fist Strikes". This is a picture book, with images from these two TV adventures. The pictures are very clear, art-like drawings. The book pages are made out of thick, durable paper too. This book is worth the price, and would give satisfaction to a Kim fan of any age. It's the perfect book to have, because with it you can see Kim any time you want.

This is the second Kim Possible cinemanga and contains the episodes 'Monkey Fist Strikes' and 'Attack of the Killer Bebees'. Like the first volume the storylines are told in a great comic book style using actually screen shots from the episodes. The book has gorgeous full color printing that is second to none and the layout is awesome.

Anyone who loves KP will dig these high quality cinemanga volumes!

This is book is a great read. It has adventure and emotion. Yuji Iwahara did a great job writing this book. The book is about a gril that is separted from his sister. There is a disease that kills you by slowly turning you into stone, this is called Medusa Virus. After Kasumi goes to cryogenically frozen state with 159 others, The people wake up after a long time sleeping to find that there is still no cure and the world they knew is no longer. Hope you will read this book it's a great read!

WORKS ON MANY LEVELS!

Review Date: 2007-06-27
Described on the cover as an "action" Manga, King of Thorn is more accurately a sci-fi/horror tale. A mysterious, and incurable virus known as the Medusa virus is plaguing the world. Like the mythological monster, the Medusa virus causes it's victim's bodies to become rigid and eventually completely petrified. A wealthy philanthropist has turned a 13th century castle into a state of the art Cryogenics laboratory in the hopes of freezing victims of the virus until a cure can be found. A lottery is held with only 160 infected people selected to take part in the experiment and a hope for life. One of those is Kasumi a young girl who is apprehensive about going to the castle and leaving behind her twin sister Shizuku, who is also infected.

Kasumi, along with the other lottery winners are put into cryogenic capsules, which will keep them in suspended animation. Kasumi's eyes blink open inside her capsule. She awakes to a horrific site as long, thorny vines have grown throughout the capsule room. The other people are equally upset. What has happened to the facility's staff? How long were they in suspended animation? The time for questions is not now, however. These bleary-eyed survivors quickly find out they are not alone. The castle is inhabited by strange, dinosaur like creatures in all sizes...and they are hungry! A small group including Kasumi manages to escape the capsule room but escaping the castle is another matter. The group is quickly fighting amongst themselves as they argue over the best course of action with a loud-mouthed politician on one side and a tough but quiet, tattooed criminal on the other.

King of Thorns works on many levels and borrows plot elements from popular films such as "Aliens" and "The Island." What happened to the castle is left a mystery. We don't know if something happened only at the castle or to the world itself. The criminal, Marco Owen, seems to have his own agenda and reason for being included among the 160 lottery winners but that reason, too, is yet to be discovered. Kasumi's tie to her sister is another interesting element. In a near death experience, Shizuku tells Kasumi that she must live and cannot die. There's a lot of little twists going on in King of Thorn and it should be quite interesting to see how this story unfolds.

The story and art are by Yuji Iwahara. His art is less of a traditional Manga style and more of a grittier, Americanized style. His style is a very thickly inked black & white with only moderate gray tones, yet it is still finely detailed. Iwahara has thrown together an interesting mix of personalities that will almost certainly lead to more conflict down the road. Note that this book is geared to teens 16 years and up due mainly to some profanity. Pick this one up!

Sweeping Romance. Bravo!

Review Date: 2008-08-15
As with any historical retelling, Kingdom of the Winds is brimming of intrigue and tragedy, and does an amazing job of bringing the past to life in the retelling of this epic romance. The narrative that frames the chapters and snakes through the story brings it all together with a vivid and poetic language. Its mournful overtones set the stage for this impressive drama as demons from the past reemerge, mythology and reality blend, and a young prince fights to save his disjointed kingdom and family.

Kingdom of the Winds really floored me with its artwork. The black and white contrasts are used so well, with the subtle details coming out in the stylized sections of the chapters. From the harshness of the rainfall, to the intricacy of the portraitures, to the polished and misty demons, the art style shows its strong spirit and is truly a joy to behold. Kimjin showcases his artistic talents as it shifts gears from the sweeping vistas to the more tender moments where the actions and posing of the characters convey more emotions than words ever could, drawing you deeper into the complexly woven web they exist in.

The characters alone are reason enough to read Kingdom of the Winds. The noble Muhyun and the vindictive King Yuri highlight the extreme range of personalities and mentalities that run throughout the story. Even the demons and the mythology, which are so often passed off as generic monsters or mindless beasts, have their own characteristics and agendas, driving the story along at a feverish pace. I would definitely take dletterese's advice when she tells you to read the primer on the characters. KotW has drawn me in and brought me along on a whirlwind ride through a very small fraction of the history it wishes to explore. I'm eagerly anticipating the next installment in the series.

An epic, beautifully drawn story of history and myth

Review Date: 2008-06-10
The first thing that will strike you about "Kingdom Of the Winds" is the powerful imagery, with lavish drawings of ancient Korea, beautiful characters, and menacing beasts. The next thing that will pull you in is the strong character relationships, and the rich history--a combination of factual and mythological--that is told. Kimjin's use of stark black and white pulls you into the drama of what is going on, and is particularly beautiful in the sections depicting battles and interaction with the mythical creatures.

The story itself is compelling as well, for it is both an epic tale, as well as one that touches upon things which normal families struggle with. A clear theme where this is depicted is that of fathers and sons. For example, the hatred King Yuri shows his very children is simultaneously fascinating and frightening, and something which has made Muhyul vow to never be like his father. Yet, how is he going to be any different? When Muhyul cannot bear to fully acknowledge his own son, Hodong, because of the unfortunate fact that Hodong was born on the same day that Muhyul lost his brother? Relationships in this story are very complicated, and will keep you turning the pages to see what destiny seems to have laid out, who is falling in love, and whos destroying someone in his way--even if that someone is his own flesh and blood.

All in all, while long novels with many historical elements can easily seem daunting, this is a beautiful story worth delving into and giving a chance! Easily a favorite for those enamored of the fantasy genre.
