Okay, so I was skeptical at first with another angel manga, but I was pleasantly surprised with this volume. I really got into the struggle of Shea having to deal with his new-found world-wide fame as being the spokesperson for bringing the news of the Angelosis virus, which is what makes the humans grow wings. It deals with different moral issues, but not so much in a cheesy, child-like way.

What are Angels?

Are they really the supreme children of God? Do they really exist? In this story by Shoko Hamada. You get a chance to see that "Angels" are not what religion depicts them to be. They are beings that exist in our everyday society, most hidden from fear of being discovered while others use the power of the media to their advantage. Meet Shea, a young quiet boy that lives a simple but happy life. Enjoys making clothing for his friends and little sister Pearl. But that soon changes with a ache in between his shoulder-blade, a protruding bump that seems to grow with every passing minute. When the media discovers his oddity he is taken in under the protection of the public welfare and discovers that there are others just like him. He soon meets "Angelaid," the hottest band in Tokyo. They're gorgeous, sexy and have WINGS!! Everyone on the street are wearing them, it's the hottest trend, or is there more than what meets the eye? This book gives science fiction a big plus, it reminded of "Clover" by the popular girls mangaka CLAMP. A must read for all science fiction fans.

I found the plot for this story very original and interesting. The character development was also very good. You'll easily fall in love with Penny, the main character. I think the best thing about this book is the drawing style. I character clothes are very inventive and well drawn. I wish I could own similar clothes. I hope the second volume turns out to be good as well.

definately not pyrate!!!

I actually bought this hopeing to to get into a new manga...Luckly, it was great.. a quick summary...Penny is retelling of her sophmore year in high school. Her best friend is with a cheating boyfriend who is gorgous, talented, charming, and a major jerk...one day while studying her geology homework, she discovers fool's gold. She decides that it is appropriate for those popular jerks. She forms an undercover club for girls. Soon she has to deal with school work, falling for guys, her fashion designing, losing a friend... etc

The manga in not in traditional manga format, so for someone who hasn't read one before, it is easy to follow... This was my first by an American author.... It wasn't bad..it was good.

I've already proclaimed my undying love for this series ...however, I must leave yet another review...because I just happen to adore this cover above all the rest.

My review can best be summed up in two words :

Whoo-Hoo! (I bet you can tell who my favorite character IS ..heh heh)

Well perhaps those aren't words ...oh well.

Anyway, I promise I love this series for far more intelligent reasons...

Too many to list here, I once again I recommend this series to any manga fan, especially fans of shoujo whom have been out of high school for a couple of years, and though have not quite outgrown their high school-set favorites , seek lead characters closer to their maturity level. (or not! after all age is just a number!)

This was my first manga (and OMG , I've read a lot!) That wasn't set in the future, a fantasy realm, or a high school ...and now I read mostly drama for older women (josei) and historical fiction...You could say this series affected my tastes quite a bit...and for such a harsh critic, that says quite a bit!

Marvelous, dahling!

Well, what can I say? I was going to buy this anyway - I adore the Eroica novels - but once again Aoike Yasuko has outdone herself. This is fantastic - a must for anyone who likes any, or all, of the following;

From Eroica With Love, sarcastic Germans, flamboyant aristocratic English thieves, yaoi, adventure, thievery in general (!), and fantastic stories AND artwork.

Buy it - and enjoy!

A verrrrry funny manga!!!!

I just picked up this manga today, and I'm so glad I did it is one of the funniest manga I've read in a while. It's all about a guy who falls in love with a yoai fangirl. She gets nosebleeds from imagining that he's in love with his best friend. He wants her to like him, and spends most of the volume trying to tell her that he's strait and he likes her. It's a very funny manga for anybody that knows or is a yoai fangirl. It's worth the bucks you shell out for it, and you can't say that about just any manga.

Great Yaoi Parody

Review Date: 2008-04-04
This was an excellent parody of the sterotypical yaoi fangirl. A normal, well-adjusted young man (Abe) falls in love with the art nerd (Asai) in class. The only problem is, she's a huge fan of man-on-man comic stories (yaoi), and prefers to think that he's in love with his best friend. Shenanigans ensue from there. Asai's having a little trouble with the fantasy/reality dividing line, and it causes Abe no end of frustration.

The only criticism I have is that our girl Asai has three suitors, which breaks my "Mary Sue" law. (If a character in a book has more than two unrequited love interests, she might be a Mary Sue.) But it actually added to the story, so I let go of that nitpick fairly quickly.

Anyone involved in the yaoi or slash subcultures will get a laugh out of this, as it skewers those interests in a very telling way. Actually, any manga/comic fans looking for a sweet, light story should give this one a shot.

FINAL BATTLE-- SOSUKE VS. GAURON
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2006-05-30
This is the final volume in the Full Metal Panic manga which brings it right up to the point where the first anime ended. Gauron has gained control of the Danaan and holds Tessa and Chidori's lives in his clutches. One false move and he won't hesitate to kill them. While Gauron knows that both of the girls are "Whispered" he has no idea that they can communicate telepathically. The girls hatch a desperate plan to take back control of the ship. Meanwhile, the Danaan's crew are virtual prisoners, locked by Gauron in the hangar, and he's thinking about cutting off their oxygen! Only Sousuke and Kurtz have gotten out and set out to rescue Tessa and Chidori, but they'll have to contend with some of the crew that turned traitor and now serve Gauron.

If you've already seen the Full Metal Panic anime series, there's really nothing new here. But that doesn't detract from the enjoyment of seeing a different interpretation of the same material. Retsu Tateo's art is spot-on and she has handled the mix of humor and action quite elegantly throughout the entire series. Most of volume 9 is missing comedy but the artist does a good job of conveying the energy and suspense leading up to the final battle between Sosuke and Gauron. The manga does a better job of conveying the affection between Sosuke and Chidori than the anime did. I'm sad to see this series end.

The conclusion to the hot series!

Sadly, this is the last graphic novel for the FMP series, according to the illustrator's notes in the back of the book. That said,

It does clear up and finish the main plot that has been building with Gauron, the Tuatha de Danaan, and Chidori. At the end of book 8, Kaname, worried about Sosuke as he returned from a mission, was verbally rebuffed by him and fled, crying, making her examine her purpose on board the TDD. As she flees, she runs into Guaron and two traitors, who hold her hostage and then take over the TDD in book 9!

Gauron, to assert his power, reprograms the computer to listen only to him, and then commences an attack on an innocent battleship nearby, but only after setting up a false Fire Drill to isolate most of the crew. Sosuke, feeling as though something is wrong, and realizing that he had been harsh to Chidori, defies direct orders and joins Kurz in a mission to save the ship and Kamane, who is just as determine not to "be annoying" and to save herself. Then Tessa plays her hand to rescue the day and her crew, but it is Kaname that saves everybody at the end (not spoiling it!). For another variation, see the end of the DVD series--Kaname's part is beautiful!

For more books on the FMP series, check out the Boku-Tachi website.

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S OVER!! THIS SERIES WAS BY FAR THE BEST I'VE EVER READ!! It was funny, then sad. It sent me through a rollercoaster of emotions. I laughed, I cried. It's so..difficult to express just how much I enjoyed this series. The characters are unforgettable. The ending is original and satisfying-there's an unexpected twist, it's really happy..yet sad D: *sigh* I really can't explain how wonderful the series was, so you'll have to read it yourself to find out.
*This series was EXTREMELY GOOD, but really sad too!! Books 3-7 had me crying throughout almost the whole things-but it was a good thing!! trust me (Although crying usually isn't associated with good, but really, it's great!!)

erm...well, in short-READ THIS SERIES!! IT IS THE BEST, I PROMISE, AND I'VE READ 'EM ALL :D

This sixth volume really blew me away. I loved the on-a-deserted-island arc, especially how what happened there revealed how Yurika feels towards Hatsushiba. I also liked the different-point-of-views-towards-the-fall-season arc, in which you see how Yurika, Anju, Hatsushiba and Yurika's uncle were all looking differently at somewhat similar events. And at the end a new character, Haruna, is introduced; it will be cool to see how she sees and influences the other characters and the story.

Gacha Gacha: The Next Revolution is filled with humor and
some very clever drama. The WHAT WOULD I DO QUESTIONS fly fast
and well paced in this endearing youth life Manga from Japan.
Looking for some mature humor with huge twists, but typical
youth situation comedy: this is for you.
Also the first series Gacha Gacha: the love story is a too much
fun manga adventure introducing the current series.
Both Series are a must have for manga fans. The writing and art are
masterfully done! The printing is extremely well done too.

Galaxy Angel (A sci-fi series.) is a legacy about five girls "saving the galaxy one planet at a time." Roaming through space, the "Angel Troupe" must save Prince Shiva of the White Moon from the Eonian forces of evil. This manga is great because it encompasses many genres. (Romance, Comedy, etc.) And the artwork is absolutely amazing! This series is highly addictive! Also, check out the other Galaxy Angel series: Galaxy Angel Party and Galaxy Angel Beta! P.S. Don't forget about the Galaxy Angel anime! It's awesome!
