This book was helpful, delightful, and extremely wonderful. I found exactly what I wanted in this book except for some tiny things, which was okay because it helped me so much. I recomend it to people who want to know what's going on behind the books that bring kids joy.

The entries were edited by Anita Silvey, distinguished editor at the Horn Book. The amount of information in this book is remarkable. In addition to the wealth of biographical information concerning authors and artists, there are sections of color plates of illustrations from notable children's books and a comprehensive index as well as autobiographical entries by notable figures in the field (such as Beverly Cleary) and topic-related lists of recommended titles. This book will be useful for parents, teachers, librarians, and anyone interested in the art of creating books for children. Take it home, flip to random pages, and start making a list of all the great books you're going to read! From classics to pop-up books, this reference covers them all.

Very enjoyable. Story and character driven. Imaginative. You really learn to care about the people and the good vs evil struggle theyre fighting.

Most fantasy fiction writers these days are Tolkien "wannabes." They fill their novels with labyrinthine plots and a muddle of complicated gimmicks. All I can say to these writers is that there is only one Tolkien! Don't try and copy him, as more often than not, you will fail. This is what is so refreshing about Creator Born. Shirley Hiter has written a fantasy tale that is both original and zestful. The world that Hiter creates is one filled with rip-roaring adventure and intriguing mysticism. Her characters are well rounded and passionate. And, her story is heart-warming, humourous, and simply stated.

If I had one tiny criticism, it would be that the book ends too abruptly. But I cannot get too upset about that. It is trick that most authors use, to get the reader excited about the next book. If the first book in this series is anything to go by, Book Two promises to be one filled with apocalyptic battles and glimpses of Machiavellian intrigue.

In short, Creator Born is an exuberant piece of fiction that will keep you turning the pages until the very end.

This book was a great read for anyone interested in magical history and especially chicago TV. It is written in typical Marshall Brodien fashion, but like every thing he has done in his life it is very out going and "Bigger than Life". This book matches the man. Which I have had the pleasure of knowing for the past 25 years. You will not be disapointed by this magical story of this magical mans life.

I enjoyed the book very much. It may be the first book I will read twice. A little pricy for a paperback. But I am happy I purchased.

This is one of the few "lowfat" cookbooks that I have really loved. The recipes are realistic and most of them are made with with items around the house.

I "heartily" recommend this cookbook!

The recipes of very low fat and high flavour foods included in the book highly motivated me to try to follow them to prepare those foods for my loved ones and myself. Moreover, there are varieties of recipes to well suit your taste and even to try new favourite dishes from many countries like Thailand, Greece, Italy, and many more. This is a very heart moving book. I felt that Lonna Traynor was right on all things of life, we must center ourselves back to GOD. This book will make anyone who reads it think of themselves are someone they know.

This is probably one of the most fun books of this puzzle out there. I'm addicted to them so have bought quite a few. This would be a good one for both beginners and experienced solvers. It has a nice mix of easy to challenging, and the results are interesting puzzles.

This is by far one of the best pixel puzzles books out there. I can only wish that he would publish monthly instead of annually! The grids are mostly no larger than 30 X 30, with many, many in the 25 X 25 range, and just a few challengers bigger than 30 X 30. The grading of the puzzles from 1-5 are fairly accurate, so you can choose what level you feel like working at and have fun with it. Like all pixels, the smaller puzzles leave a little to be desired in the quality of the picture, but that's to be expected. The larger puzzles turn out pretty nice to beautiful in some cases, and the ones in between are pretty fair representations of some object, not too busy (like the Griddlers).

The only reason I took off one star is for the quality of the paper. It's not as bad as those terrible Griddlers, but it does have some problems. Fortunately, it erases fairly easily, but it also absorbs moisture from the air very easily, so ONLY use this as an indoor book (not recommended for taking to the beach or camping!)

It is an oustanding handbook on how to use Media Creator 8.

If I hadn't bought this book my computer would now be at the bottom of the swimming pool. While the Roxio program has good help tips and tutorials, having this secondary source on paper was absolutely necessary to me.

I haven't even begun to explore the depths of the full program but this book made it possible for me to cut my learning curve significantly - and enjoyably, too!

Even though I have now penciled in a couple of my own tips not included in the book, this book has got to be Roxio's best friend. If you going to buy and use the Roxio program then you certainly should include this book in your purchase plans.

Colin Gunton believes (and rightfully so) that creation cannot truly be understood except in a Trinitarian conception. Understanding God as the Holy Trinity lays the foundation for all other theology and in particular creation.

Gunton weaves together both Historical and Systematic Theology to present a case for understanding the Trinity and Creation. He intertestingly notes that when the doctrine of the Trinity fell into dispute or was just placed upon the shelves of church history to collect dust that the effect was evident upon man.

Only a proper understanding of the Trinity will bring balance between the transcedence and immanence of God. God and his relation to his creation can only be properly understood when God is Trinity

This is an excellent book, but one that will take work to get through. In the end the effort put out will be worth while.

Gunton begins his study by showing the uniqueness of the Creation Ex Nihilo to the Christian faith. Other mid east legends are dim copies. Despite the universality of evidence, there is a corresponding universality of failure to read it correctly (Calvin). Creation is the outcome of God's unrestrained love.It is Christo-centric. It is through and to Christ. The incarnate one entered into history and creation to redeem it.

Gunton then sets the stage by showing the biblical context out of which the doctrine of Trinitarian Creation was realized. Old Testament. God's creation is rooted historically. It is not eternal. New Testament. God freely willed creation. velation 4:11). Christ is the mediator and sustainer of creation (Heb. 1:2).Christ's miracles over demons is a oretaste of the future liberation of creation (Romans 8).As Christ is the mediator of creation, the Holy Spirit is the animator of it. This ties together in the resurrection of Christ.The freedom of God in the created order. The destiny of the created order is related to the resurrection of Christ.

Next he examines the Greek Worldview, showing it be pessimistic and dualistic, incapable of answering the ultimate questions. Ontology:
Pantheism: Is the universe divine?
If God is not personal creator, we then have an impersonal force governing reality (c.f. John Frame, Apologetics to the Glory of God, p.35-40 for an excellent discussion of personality and deity). To personalise the non-personal is to succumb to crude forms of superstition.Only a theology which distinguishes God from the world ontologically justifies the practices of science.

Goodness of creation
If God the Son takes upon himself a material body, then nothing material can be intrinsically bad. God creates out of nothing.
There are no degrees of being but only two realities: God and everything else. Although very good, creation, even before the fall, was not yet complete and perfected. It is waiting for an eschatological perfection. Salvation is that which returns creation to its directed purpose. The world is to be understood as a process, but not--as in contemporary process theologians--a linear process.

All in all it was a fascinating study, save a few faults. He tried his darndest to exonerate Darwin, to no avail. Despite all of Gunton's brilliant reasoning--and mind you he is sharp--Darwin, given Gunton's own admissions elsewhere, could not account for human personality and dignity given his premises. Second, is a faulty over-reliance on several flawed studies of Calvin, rendering his discussion of primary-secondary causes problematic. But other than that, a superb study.

I loved WAR EAGLES. It is right up my alley. An forgotten adventure story by the creator of KING KONG brought back to life by two dedicated writers.

The cover of the book states: "A Novel inspired by an original concept by Merian C. Cooper". That is enough right there to get any film buff's heart racing. I mean, you have a wonderful (and basically unknown) original story by the great Merian C. Cooper (KING KONG) and modern authors Carl Macek and Debbie Bishop bring it to life, raising it from the dead, so to speak. In addition to that, there is a wonderful forward by stop-animation legend Ray Harryhausen.

For me, it was a real page turner. If you love adventure stories set in the distant past and have a soft spot in your heart for great beasts like KING KONG, this is for you!

If you have children, check out Debbie Bishop's "The Faries Of Bladderwhack Pond" and the just published "Shadow Boys". Two really wonderful books.

While I enjoy science fiction and historical novels, the premise of this story seemed too far fetched for me to enjoy but surprisingly I found it well written and quite enjoyable. The story moved well and it kept my interest in the plot and characters so I was able to complete it in just two nights.

If anyone is looking for a great summer read, whether you're in to sci fi, historical novels or just reading about a good old fashioned patriotic hero, you won't be disappointed and, if you feel the concept is just a little too far out to be believable, you'll be in for a very pleasant surprise.

The Lord is my Shepard, I have all that I need (I'm fat, fatigued and fifty!)

As I am approaching the age of menopause I have started adding books on the subject to my reading list. I found this one to be very well written and informative on the subject. The author delivers the information in a witty but respectful way. He also alleviates the fear for many Christian women that these therapies may be un-Christian through Biblical references.

I really appreciated that the author took such a sensitive and often scary subject and lightened it up with a sense of humor. Two great examples of this were "So estrogen can be swallowed, shot in the rear end, implanted in your tum-tum, stuck on your derriere, and lathered on your skin" and "Every party has a pooper, and every drug has a downside" (page 108).

This comprehensive book discusses keeping the mind, body and spirit in balance through chapters on traditional hormone treatments, including the natural approach through herbs, complementary medicine, prayer, diet and exercise. The information presented will help alleviate the fear about a subject that can be really scary for a woman approaching middle age. I walked away with a thorough knowledge of what menopause and multiple options for getting through it.

I highly recommend "A Woman's Guide to Hormone Health" for Christian women who are approaching menopause age. It will definitely dispel the many myths surrounding the subject and you will walk away with a good knowledge about this next step in life.

This is exactly the book my wife has been searching for for some time. It explains in very clear language the reasons for the previously confused series of moods and emotions. She is thrilled with it and now has a more relaxed response to the changes taking place at this stage of her life.
