I can't put this book down! In addition to the MANY charming and intriguing drawings by cat artist Louis Wain, Mr. Dale includes a wealth of information on his life, history as an artist, and personal struggles. It is extremely well written and as entertaining as it is informative. Best book on the subject of Mr. Wain and his art I have yet to read.

These is a lot of information in this book but if you are trying to do your own electical, it doesn't help.

This book is great if you are studying to be an electrician. It gives you a lot of background material. But for the home project, go to HomeDepot and and get an electrians guide.

If your looking to get into the Electrician field or just need a steady reference guide, then this is the book for you. Residential, Commercial, Industrial...you name it. I've been a certified Electrician for 17 years and I still use this book as a quick reference manual to this day. Not overly complex but still gets down to the nitty gritty in details.

Definitely a must buy if you're interested in pursuing a career in this trade.

I bought this book while in Iraq to study before I get out of the army and try to get under an apprenticeship. This book has helped me learn a LOT about the trade of inside wireman and the basic fundamentals of electricity from fomulas to installation of panel boxes to wiring an entire house and to which lamps will give the best lighting effect in a room. I am really looking forward to learning more about the trade. So far I have read it once and am already half way thru for my second time around. I highly recommend this book however, what I have learned about electrical is only from this book so I do not have a comparison.

This is an excellent and easy to follow Lebanese cookbook. I have a copy that I have used for many years with great results. This one is a gift for a friend of mine who loves Lebanese food.

The seller shipped it on time and arrived in my house in less than five days. I was surprised with the delivery speed!

I recommend both, the book and the seller, for excellence.

I originally received this book as a gift from my husband's 90 year old Lebanese aunt, who told me the recipes are the same as they learned to cook in the old country. Well, I have tried most of the recipes in this book, and they are all delicious. One comment from one of the Lebanese cousins at my husband's birthday party was "these are better than the Lebanese make" referring to the kibby balls I had made from a recipe in this book. I have purchased this book as gifts for all of my 6 grown children, and also for several of my friends. We all refer to it as "the book", and everyone knows which one we are talking about. Mine has been used so much, that the pages are all tattered and torn. Now that is the sign of a GREAT cookbook!

I bought this book because i love cooking and love arabic food.the recipes in the book are good but the problem is that even if followed very carefully, the meals do not come out.they are always eighter undercooked, overcooked or just plain flavorless. The cooking times and temperatures are always off!Worst cookbook i ever bought!I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because a few of the salads and beverages were ok,the rest is a waste!

The starting point for ontologies and the semantic web
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 11 total.
Review Date: 2002-06-27
This book is the starting point for those readers who are willing to know what ontologies are and how they can be used for building ontology-based applications for Knowledge Management, electronic commerce and the semantic web. He has presented the key technology for building such kind of applications and relevant scientific contributions on the ontology field that are considered as important milestones (i.e., Ontobroker and OIL language).

Hence, I consider this book as an excellent introduction to those readers that don't know about ontologies and the semantic web. I very enjoyed reading the book and got many new inspirations.

Abstractions made practical

The Semantic Web and knowledge management converge in this book by Dieter Fensel. Ontologies, a term from philosophy referring to the types and classifications of things that exist, recently has become a term of art in the area of business technology design. This book systematically introduces the idea of ontologies and shows clearly and in detail how to apply this conceptual framework for enhanced Internet-based e-commerce and improved Intranet retrieval of corporate information and knowledge. The notion of ontologies first gained acceptance outside philosophical circles among those working on the Semantic Web as a means to enable agents to reason about Web content and provide sensible responses to unanticipated situations. Fensel provides a thorough survey of a range of ontology-based knowledge representation techniques in terms of their applicability to Web-based information exchange. While the first part of the book will be accessible to non-experts interest in the use of ontologies in e-commerce and knowledge management, the second part presents a more technical view on emerging Web standards.

inconsistent and expensive

This book is, as someone above said very hastily written. It repeats itself, and has a tacky structure, despite its 138 pages (references included). With that in mind, the price is quite hefty. but there are lots of references, which is a plus. There must be better books or papers out there which introduces ontologies.

we are in the logistics business and I reviewed this book as a potential teaching tool for management. The book is unfortunatley of little to no value. Most concerning is that the mathematics for inventory management, a critical factor in understanding logistics, are simply wrong. Even a quick look by anyone familiar with inventory management would find this concerning.

This book is used at my college and it is really soft on hard information. It is full of generalizations and impressive industry jargon but offers little practical information to take into industry. The cost does not justify what you get in my opinion. More case examples would be helpful and more analytical methods described with realistic scenarios could really improve it. I would not recommend it unless absolutely necessary.

This book has been dramatically improved in the 7th edition

The book takes the reader progressively from the most simple concepts to the complexities of logistics. It is true that this is not a quantitive book, but it is a very conceptual and didactic logistics book with many cases and graphs. An internet site provided by the publisher with transparencies, internet site references, and other supports to this book makes it an excellent tool. There is a lot of value in the package offered.

Value for Money

I have used this book as a reference whilst as a student and recommended it as a lecturer. The material it contains is explained in detail and most if not all major areas of Logistics and Supply Chain Management have been covered to some extent.

Topics like ECR that are today considered "new" or "cutting edge" were mentioned in this book.

It does not gloss over theories and calculations but actually walks you through these step-by-step.

I have read and used a number of Logistics or SCM books over the years. If you take all factors into account, including price, which is relevant to most students, you get absolute value for money.

This book may not change your life, but it is packed full of about 100 different patterns that should bring you viewing pleasure. The patterns are quintessentially Japanese and occasionally veer towards the too-cute zone, but are generally beautiful and varied, and are all available for personal use on the CD that comes with the book. They would look great framed or as wrapping paper, business cards, home-made cards, stationery, website decoration and many other things.

Purchased to get some ideas on new inovation in warehouse design and layout. Is expensive. Book is dated and needs to to be updated or price needs to be drastically reduced. Has basic info from 10 years ago with little new added. I would not recommend this book unless you are looking for a basic primer.
