After I read this book, I bought 2 more for my partner and family member.
It was an easy read and the author came across as personable. Had some very good information. Highly recommend this book for anyone going into the food business. Can't wait to read her upcoming books.

Wow. What a waste of time. I'm an avid reader, buy almost all of my books at amazon, but have never written a review. I just had to make sure no one else got fooled by the title of this book.

There is absolutely nothing of use in this book that hasn't already been written in the most elementary "how to start your own business" book already out there. And most likely it's much better edited and presented. In fact, the editor of this book has questionable spelling and grammatical skills to say the least.

I felt completely duped. First of all, her food isn't even in supermarkets. You can only get it online. Come to find out that if I want more information, I could pay for her online seminar. Plenty of Bible and God references. No real, direct advice pertaining solely to how one gets food into the supermarkets. The best advice in her book is to go online and do research. For example, want to know where you can find information on laws and USDA regulations for your food? Go online! Want help? Hire HER for consulting services. Oh, you'll need to get a co-packer because the USDA doesn't allow food cooked in your personal kitchen to be sold to the public. (uh... Duh? )How do you get a co-packer, find a USDA approved facility? I guess I'll have to hire her to find that out because she certainly doesn't tell you in her book. What about labelling, getting nutrional information on your label, going from actually making small amounts in your kitchen to mass-producing? How to bridge that gap? Guess you'll have to hire her services for several hundred dollars an hour. Oh, and if YOU have a RECIPE that you'd like to share with her so she can help you produce it under her label, she'd love to hear from you. And if you'd like to sell her foods, she'd love to hear from you. In fact, if you'd like to help sell her book she'll pay you three dollars a book for that too! She's also available for a myriad other services. This book was one big infomercial.

Bottom - line, this review has given you most of what you need to know about this book. The rest you can, or likely have already found in your library under "how to start a business" or "are you an entrepenuer?". Oh, and don't forget to go to the USDA website. Then you're on your own.

The seven standards advocated in this book are doubtless all good ones: prohibition of idolatry, prohibition of murder, prohibition of theft, prohibition of sexual promiscuity, prohibition of blasphemy, prohibition of cruelty to animals, in addition to the requirement to form a just government to ensure that these standards are observed by members of society. What could be wrong with that?

These "Seven Laws" [Sheva Mitzvot] are said to be derived from Genesis 9:1-17. But you will have a hard job to find them there! Their real origin is in the *Tosefta* (Sanhedrin 9:4). This work was compiled as late as 180-200CE to parallel and supplement the *Mishnah*. They also appear in the *Gemara*, which was added to the *Mishnah* to form the *Talmud* (see tractate Sanhedrin 56a/b). The *Gemara* was compiled around 500CE.

However, the *Torah* is God's actual Word, as given to the prophet Moses as early as 1500BCE and has authority over any human production. Writings like the *Tosefta*, the *Mishnah*, and the *Gemara* are no more than human commentaries upon the Word of God; they are not the Word of God itself.

Therefore, the so-called "Noahide Laws" entail reading back into God's Word later human deductions. They are not commanded by God to anyone on earth for the present day. Rather they were devised by certain leading Rabbis who, not content with enjoining their 613 Laws upon their captive Jewish audience, also wanted to bring Gentiles under their authority.

If you are a Gentile who has been taught that you can earn your salvation by following these Laws, please note that you are not following precepts commanded by God Himself, but only principles enjoined by human authority.

This does not mean that the seven principles are not good ones in themselves. Indeed, they are. And they may provide you with a better quality of life. But please do be aware that you will not gain any form of everlasting spiritual salvation by following them. God gives no guarantee whatever that those who observe them are assured of a place in the world to come.

A detailed exposition of the Noachide laws. If the non-Jews in the world were to adopt these laws en masse, that in itself would redefine the scope and nature of world history and current events. In this detailed exposition of the subject, Rabbi Aaron Lichtenstein thoroughly explains each of the Seven Laws. With the existence of a growing Noahide movement, this book is more relevant than ever before.

Let me start off by saying this is not a totally evil book, itwas written by people who care about children, but I do not agree withthier views. Become involved in your childs life, before they get music cd's and go see movies, etc... Do research, then if it's not to your personal taste explain why. Don't choose soley on ratings systems , etc... pg-13 movies can be as offensive as R or nc-17 movies, same is true for music, I know of many different albums out there that DONT have the lyrics warning on them but are very offensive.

Trying to shield our children from the pervasive obscenity of modern culture is a more-or-less full-time job as any parent knows. Thank goodness therefore for this sensitive and helpful guide to responsible parenting. Sometimes the old ways are best: when my own dad caught me smoking when I was a teenager, he sat me down at the kitchen table and I wasn't allowed to get up until I had finished the entire packet. That worked, after a fashion. I tried a similar approach with my own son Jonathan when I recently found a stash of porn videos in his room. I believe he found the 9 hour marathon viewing as uncomfortable as I did, and I have high hopes of weaning him of this filth.

This book contained tons of information on various complicated (sulphuring? - Eww!) methods of home food dehydration. About two weeks after I read it (taking copious notes) an episode of Good Eats dealt with the subject of drying fruit, and I learned more in that half hour than I had in the two hours of reading. I will definitely use this as a reference guide, but I sure am glad Alton Brown tackled the subject!

The book steps miles away from the mainstream, orthodox view of the origins and purpose of Christianity. Some of the astrological aspects of his arguements were fairly interesting and have been corroborated in other sources i.e. Carl Jung, "Man and his Symbols". The book isn't going to change your opinions or influence your life to any degree, but it is concise enough in its radical ideas to give the open-minded reader food for thought.

Published under his pseudonym Geoffrey Crayon, "Bracebridge Hall" is a sequel of sorts to "The Sketch Book." Less a novel than a series of sketches--or a "medley," to use Irving's term from the title page--these tales revolve around the inhabitants of an English manor (based on the real Aston Hall, where Irving often stayed), the characters living in the village nearby, and the stories they tell. The "plot," such as it is, concerns the gathering of relations for a wedding. "In a word," Irving admits, "I cannot foresee a single extraordinary event that is likely to occur in the whole of my sojourn at the Hall."

As a collection, it's certainly not Irving's best (which is largely why it's so hard to find in print). Most of the character sketches rarely rise above type: the English squire, the old general, the widow, the servants. A few, however, humorously evoke remarkable eccentrics: the village "radical," Christy the crotchety huntsman, the gypsy who still retains the squire's sympathies after he's accused of stealing a sheep. Irving's recollection of the village's May Day celebration is particularly amusing.

Even more valuable are the masterful stories ("told" by various characters staying in Bracebridge Hall) that are hidden among these profiles and that stand on their own. The most famous of these is the ghost story "Dolph Heyliger" (and its story-within-a-story, "The Ghost-Ship"), but readers should not miss "The Stout Gentleman," a simple story about a mysterious apparition; "Annette Delarbre," an affecting love story; and especially "The Student of Salamanca," an overlooked gem of intrigue and suspense.

As an embedded firmware programer I have found it usefull over the last 12 years. Covers X25/X29, OSI, HDLC, Token Ring etc. but knows nothing of the internet age!

This is a very comprehensive guide to corporations, whixh deals with all the legal aspects of organizing, maintaiing, and regulating a corporation, including that elusive "piercing the corporate veil" concept. However, if you are using this for a business law exam study aid, you will need to supplement it. There is nary a word in it regarding agency or partnership, which any comprehensive business law survey course will most certainly touch on. If it had, I would have given it five stars. Just be warned when ordering--it isn't all there.

YOU ARE JUST A PARTICLE ON THE WHEEL, SO DON'T BE PESSIMISTIC, YOU WILL DESCEND, BUT GRADUALLY YOU WILL RISE ABOVE, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TO STICK TO THAT TYRE WITH DETERMINATION, COURAGE, AND ADAPT YOURSELF TO ITS CONTINUOUS CHANGES, THEN LIFE WILL SURELY BE BLISS FOR YOU!!!

In the eighties, when many of us were trying to learn nonlinear dynamics (by teaching it) from outdated texts on nonlinear differential equations (no chaos theory) and newer research papers, this book was extremely helpful. In contrast with Lichtenberg and Lieberman, which preceded it (and was for a few years the only modern book on chaos available), it did not ignore driven-dissipative systems but rather emphasized them. Still provides a good introduction for a beginner (when one supplements it by going to the orginal literature), although I would of course recommend my own books on the subject, especially with regard to understanding what is meant by integrability/nonintegrability, what is meant by a 'chaotic orbit', and to avoid confusing randomness with deterministic chaos. It is a disease with all books on chaos that the writers do not advise the student to do backard in time integration to check the validity of forward time numerical integrations. therefore, the cookbook recipe given in those texts for calculating Liapunov exponents is wrong and misleading. Another way to say it is that deterministic chaos is not developed from the systematic standpoint of symbollic dynamics in those texts, but rather from the standpoint of meaningless numerical integrations packed full with machine errors.
