Pro-Pakistan Fascist Nonsense
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2003-10-13
I trust that all fair-minded readers will find this waste of paper and ink to be absurd.

I'll relate the following observations:

1) 3 million dead is most likely an inflated claim. However, the number of civilians killed (before the Indian army entered East Pakistan, for the record, not after) was in the hundreds of thousands by the account of any impartial observer (and there were many - for further information read editions of any American or other western newspapers from that time, the U.S. Library of Congress records, etc.) Is that something to be proud of?

2) The notion that Bengalis did not aspire to independence during the British is a lie - many Bengali intellectuals advocated freedom. Even if it were true, and it is not, by the same logic Pakistan should be part of India since no serious progress toward freedom was made prior to World War II.

1971 was a great example of how the Islamic fundamentalist mentality is a destructive force in the world. The continued denial of this mass murder by patriotic but braindead madrassah-educated Pakistani OBL-wannabes shows that this menace is a threat to all civilized peoples today.

This book is merely a propagation of lies. This man's self righteous arrogance has blinded him from his own intergrity. Everyone is to blame but himself, in this book. It is a sad reality that this once brave and intelligent soldier, a respectable military mind which won him medals in the 40's and 50's, will historically only be remembered as the " Butcher of Bangladesh". He has done Pakistan's army honour no favours in 1971. He should have faced a war tribunal but escaped through natural death. How he encouraged his 92,000 troops to rape 400,000 Muslim and Hindu women in Bangladesh so that the population was intimidated is a crime of such magnitude, comparable only to (...). His denial of mass raping and genocide figures that the world news agencies produced proves him astonishingly dishonest. His cowardly army slaughtered 2.5 million unarmed civilians, and caused the biggest mass raping of women in human history, surpassing Nanking 1937. He induced humanity such incredible suffering, Allah will probably never release this evil man from the eternal torment of Hellfire. His role in Genocide is like Her Himler's, and as he was himself a rapist, his troops followed his example. There are still thousand's of rape victims in Psychiatric hospitals in Bangladesh from 1971, they are still suffering 33 years later. He along with many other Pakistani politicians (...) in 1971 are amongst the greatest war criminals in history. He may have escaped Justice in this life, he will not in the next.May this legendary rapist and his butchering accomplices rot in the 7th level of hell for eternity. This book is an inaccurate fictitious propagation of lies. He is among history's top ten evil men count. A disgrace to Pakistani nation.

The basic plot theme: Everything was everyone elses fault. 3 million Bangladeshis were not murdered, 27,000 women were not raped. The Pakistanis kept on winning but somehow (unexplained) lost to the Indians in the end. The General was always right, everyone else was wrong. This self-delusional, lying, racist drivel shows what is wrong with Pakistan -- a nation created (mainly by Bangladeshis as it happens, as they provided the majority of the votes for the new country) supposedly in the name of Islam, but which has murdered more Muslims than India, Israel, Serbia, Croatia and indeed pretty much any other nation you can think of apart from Iraq or Russia -- and those countries took years to do what Pakistan did in months. This is an army that has killed or oppressed more of its own people than any other. The reviews on this page are also instructive; the Pakistani names are unashamed revisionist anti-Bangladeshi bigots who refuse to learn anything from their own past for their own national good. Explains why their country is still a Punjab dominated, poor, backward, repressive, military dictatorship today. Also explains how they could support the Taleban with no problems and have regular riots, independance movements in Sind and Baluchistan, political and social violence, a drug problem, illiteracy, massive debt, few international friends, corruption and God knows what else. A nation cannot progress until it learns from its mistakes and Pakistan refuses to learn from its biggest one.

Make no mistake, General Tikka Khan was a patriot.

Review Date: 2002-04-16
In this book, General Niazi attempts to hide the fact that it was his cowardice that cost the secession of East Pakistan. Niazi is the same soldier who saluted the Indian Army Chief while surrendering in the former East Pakistan. He should have fought and died like a true soldier, not given up against a bitter enemy.
While many perceive Tikka Khan's tactics as harsh, they must remember that realistically, this was the only option Pakistan had to maintain its territorial integrity. This was all a political issue, and once the politicians failed to resolve it, they sent the military in to do the job. When General Tikka Khan was sent to East Pakistan, things were totally out of hand, and some drastic steps had to be taken. If you look at the orders given to Tikka by the General Headquarters in West Pakistan, they clearly stated that he must try to do everything in his power to bring order back to East Pakistan.
The fact is that General Tikka and the Pakistan Army were left with no choice but to take harsh actions against the anti-Pakistan elements (just like any country would), who in this case were the Mukti Bahini terrorists and their Indian supporters. Make no mistake, India supported the Mukti Bahini terrorists by providing arms to them and training them and also helping them infiltrate into East Pakistani territory. In this effort, the USSR also helped India while the U.S. just watched as one of its allies was cut in half by the the Soviets.Read Richard Nixon's memoirs and he clearly asks whether the U.S. policy should have been different and one that would have supported Pakistan in this war because the USSR was anti-Pakistan because of Pakistan's close relationship with the U.S.
It is interesting that Niazi blames Tikka for the loss of East Pakistan and calls him incompetent (which is a ridiculous claim because of Tikka's successes in the 1965 Indo-Pak conflict, especially in the region of Rann of Kutch and the brilliantly orchestrated defense of the Pakistani city of Sialkot. Tikka was greatly respected by his juniors and colleagues)
This book is biased, and Niazi attempts to divert attention from his own mistakes and blunders.General Tikka was clearly a patriot who sacrificed a great deal for Pakistan,a nd endangered his life on many occasions for the sake of his motherland. He was a distinguished soldier of the Pakistan Army, and although civilians were killed in East Pakistan, this was not the intention of General Tikka. Tikka never ordered the rape or massacre of anyone, although some individual soldiers of the Pakistan army committed crimes against humanity, and many of them were later court martialled and punished. The figureof 3 million dead people is a farce, the death count was far lower than this, and many people who died in a devastating 1970 hurricane were also included as casualties of war to inflate the figure.
Make no mistake, this was a conspiracy against Pakistan, to destroy Pakistan, and to kill its people. The people of Pakistan were divided, and the enemy succeeded in sowing the seeds of hatred amongst them. Those who were once brothers turned against each other and massacred each other. The enemy won because the people of Pakistan were divided. Let this be a lesson for future generations of Pakistanis.Let this not happen again.

there are a lot of myths associated with the creation of bangladesh.First of all lets take genocide and "holocaust" of bengalis by the pakistan army.its claimed that three million bengalis were killed.Let me ask a simple question. If Hitler's Nazi army of more than two million soldiers killed six million jews in six years(1939-45) aided with death camps, gas chambers, giant incinerators, How is it possible that Pakistan's 90,000(in fact less than that) soldiers could so efficiently kill three million bengalis(half that of jews), within such short timespan of nine months (march-december 1971)?????? without the aid of auschwitz, sobibor, etc. and also so efficiently erasing all the evidence of this great crime. So, i think it must be clear to the reader that no such "bangladesh holocaust" ever took place. This is the reason that the world doesnt take this groundless claim seriously.Only few Indian and Bangladeshi authors keep raising hue and cry ,but in their hearts they know that they are just "the boys that cried wolf".Secondly, india's prime minister Morar Jee Desai himself accepted that the so called MuktiBahini the bangladesh independence army, had indian commandos making a large proportion of this army, who committed many war crimes, which wont ever be brought to the light, because of creation of bangladesh.Bangladesh was a part of pakistan, and it gained independence only by Indian aid.had india not committed naked aggression on east pakistan on 22nd november 1971, there would have been no bangladesh.Thirdly, lets ask whether the bengalis were really being exploited by west pakistan? Before 1947,there was no bengali muslim in Indian Civil service and the indian army.It was the creation of Pakistan that ended the centuries of exploiting of bengali muslims by hindus and british. Before 1947,bengalis never complained of being considered so inferior that the british did not see them worthy of civil service or army. A great deal of economic development occured in east pakistan after 1947.And more than anything, the bengali muslims were given a chance to live as a respected nation, independent from the Hindu elite's exploits. Bengali language was taken as the national language of pakistan.east pakistanis were given equal rights to prosper.Second Capital buildings in dhaka are evidence, built in AyubKhan's regime.every attempt was made to keep parity of east and west pakistan. But in reward of every concession, bengalis demanded more.So much investment was done by west pakistanis industrialists in east pakistan.I ask , east bengal was poor in the british raj days also, but no one blamed anyone.and just few years after independence of 1947,west pakistan was being blamed for all the ills of east pakistan. All pakistanis were brothers and are and will remain brothers.India will always be the mutual enemy of muslims, whether bengali or pakistani. After 1972,how india exploited east pakistan as a colony must be enough to reveal the intentions of the hindu state. All i mean to say is that both east and west pakistan were at fault and thus india took advantage and two brothers broke away. It was the result of two opportunistic politicians, mujeeb and bhutto & a power hungry drunk general Yahya. This is the reason that nature took revenge, which is evident from the way bhutto and mujeeb died.

This book reveals just a small amount of what is actually in the Talmud and should be required reading for every non-jew if they want to begin to understand what jews Really believe and practice. This is a religion of extreme hatred for the non-jewish inhabitants of the earth but especially Christians. The Talmud is racist and extols Jews as the chosen masters of the rest of mankind who are described as beasts.
To prove how damning the Talmud really is and why it's contents are hidden and violently denied it contains this passage, "To communicate anything of our law to a Gentile means the death of all Hebrews; for if the Goyim knew what we teach about them, they would exterminate us without mercy."
Wake up folks and read this book. Contrary to what a previous reviewer has written, there is nothing complex about what the Talmud has to say, it's black and white and doesn't require special knowledge to understand it's meaning, I have read it. The Talmud Unmasked is also not anti-semitic (term used to attack the messenger and turn away readers), it is simply the truth.
The author has done an excellent job but this is only the tip of the iceberg. For further and more in-depth reading, I recommend "The Plot Against the Church", if you can locate it.

This is a capsule of the Talmudic beliefs of the Jews. It should be required reading for every Christian. Together with the Protocols Of Zion and Henry Ford's Books on the International Jew, One gets a perspective of what is going on in the world today. The Talmud is the most racist work on this planet. The Talmud spews hate toward Christians and is filled with immoral beliefs.

The author is either ignorant of basic Aramaic translation or purposely inciting hate. Many of the terms he uses like "apostates" in the Talmud does not refer to Christians, as he contends. Also the Talmud uses the word "akum" which refers to idol worshipers. Christians are not included in this terminology.

I enjoyed the basic insight provided by N. Evans. I believe I would be classified as in the 'teenage' stage of locs, and found the information & relative tips to be pretty handy. I live in Minneapolis, MN where there is a growing trend to 'lock-up'. This isn't the most diverse state, so printed info such as this book are a must read. The hairdresser at Malobe Natural Hair Salon 813 W. Lake St. 800-840-4514, (feel free to mention you heard from Montuaine), recommended this book & was not wrong in giving it rave reviews. I have been convinced to endure the early stages of locking & patiently await the look I desire.

eventhough it contains very little information about dreadlocks, and the majority of the information that it DOES contain is erroneous, incomplete, or simply made up by the author and her clique. She is apparently ignorant of the fact that dreadlocks date back to the beginning of time in ALL cultures, not just black culture (for example, ancient celtic warriors wore dreads, as did the Maoris of New Zeland), although she makes up for this in part by classifying dread-wearers such as the Shivites of India as "african". This is an even greater pity considering that THE ENTIRE HUMAN RACE originated in Ethiopia, a fact she is ignorant of, eventhough it would support some of her claims. (Should I tell her that Bob Marley's father was white?) It is a damn shame to see a book like this used to perpetuate the isms and scims of Babylon (and hustle customers into her hair salon), rather than to promote the upful and positive dread vibe and the truth of Rastafari. If this book goes into a second printing it should be retitled: Everything My Guru And I made Up About Hairlocking (Including The Awkward And Inarticulate Term "Locktician").

If you are in the process of locking or thinking about locking, this book will provide no useful information as to how to go about it. The author is more concerned with imparting her concept of spirituality rather than facts. It takes about an hour to read through this mess, and I'm still wondering what the 40 commandments of MAAT have to do with locking ones hair. What I was looking for was some real information regarding starting, maintaining and caring for locs, types of products to use (other than the authors own). No wonder this mess is out of print. The entire discussion on coiled hair as antennae and electromagnetic fields was entirely too comical!

What I wanted to know was much more in the way of technical information and illustration, and nice photos. Nice try trying to market everything from products, to videos, classes etc etc etc. In a word this book was "boring".

There are a lot of interesting and useful ideas buried in this text, but unfortunately they are presented in a way that makes reading the book extremely difficult. It's dull, dry, and unorganized, and needlessly diffuse. And while I expect my textbooks to present information subjectively, this one feels like just a string of facts with no cohesive voice or personality at all in the writing. The examples used to illustrate concepts are awful, and help me neither to better understand the concepts nor to better remember them.

This was my textbook but I found it so useful that I decided to retain it. I'm a project manager and most of my projects created change and transformed business processes. This book explores and explains human behavior within an organizational framework. It leans a bit much on theory but that's essential if you want real understanding of the rationale behind practical application.

The authors present their material effectively. The book has an abundance of contemporary real-world examples. The exercises and case studies impart lessons that built my skills progressively. It gave me insight to design effective strategies that gave my deliverables a more open reception.

In this book, the author discusses the origins of locks, "dreadlocks vs locks", and the myths associated with locked hair. Excellent encouragement for people who have locks or anyone who is just thinking about it. This book encourages acceptance of African "coiled" hair, and shows that beauty does not only have to be Eurocentric. I agree with the author's statements that once African-Americans lock their hair, they "fall in love with it." To me, this means that a person with locked hair has accepted their natural hair and all of it's quirks and knows that beauty comes in all hair textures. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a "how-to" book.

If you are looking for help working your way through a new loc journey, (what to use, how to do it etc.) this book is not for you. If your doing research on the history of loc'd hair, with lots of personal convictions - this book is for you. If you have made the decision to loc your hair, you probably already have your own convictions - you don't need to buy them from a stranger. . I was so disappointed that with this book, I actually tossed it in the trash - something I almost never do.

This book is positive reinforcent and a informational guide to
people with nappy hair. It dispels the myth that nappy hair is " bad" and straight hair is "good". Indeed, if you have a healthy head of hair of any kind it is "good".

It's not a step-by-step guide to hair locking. Nekhena Evans earns a living from teaching people how to lock other peoples hair. She recommends that you go a qualified loctician to have your hair locked. This book is an ispirational guide to get you motivated and inspired.

Everyone is beautiful in his own way. African Americans have too long embraced European ideals of beauty and not seen the beauty in themselves.

It gives some invaluable information, if you read it carefully. I learned about Jojoba oil by reading this book. Nothing has improved the condition of my skin and hair as much as this product has.

I did finally decided to lock my hair and I really like it. Life is too short not to do or be what you really want. Society may shun you, so-called friends will reject you. Let them go! Get rid of people that can't except you the way the Creator made you. Don't worry be nappy. You'll find some real friends and be much happier.

Rich in rhetoric, missing in places. I couldn't sit for 2 days after practising these richly explained techniques . What the author could do to improve is to advise on post coital support. There were no recommendations about ice packs, lanolin creams, swimming rings to help one sit afterwards. I had to fly NY back to San Fran next day and its was agony even without the turbulence.

Bert Herrman is a kind of spiritual grandfather to the handballing world. He codified his status when he released "Trust" in 1991. He took a taboo topic and wrote about it with passion, and the floodgates were open. It is obvious that he feels deeply about the subject, and tries mightily to purvey as much information as possible at the time.

However, the final segments of the book get a wee bit esoteric. If you are more into the carnal than the spiritual, the last chapters of "Trust" may be a bit hard to digest, and you may find the information/viewpoint to be lacking (if somewhat one-sided). Also, in the intervening years, a great deal of knowledge about the red-hankie world has accumulated. Herrman's "Trust," while certainly an important document of the times, is very much a book of its time. Get it for the history, and because this was the work that opened the original door for many men.

Out of all the previous 5 reviews, I only agree with ablau@mindspring.com. 99% of kung fu books will not teach you all the forms (especially the secret techniques). I did not expect this one to either. However, I did expect it to list at least the first form - Jit Bo.

As a Pak Mei practioner, I learned about some of the origin and lineage of Pak Mei from my Master, but not everything. This book does give me some of it's history (and picture of Cheung Lai Chun!) that I didn't know before, so that alone is worth the price of the book (to me).

I did wish at the minimum it would list the names of all the forms, and maybe a small description of each. As I know it, there are variations of Pak Mei. (Don't believe those Pak Mei school when they tell you what you are learning is the original. Unless you are their beloved student, you will NOT learn the original forms) . My Master had already told me that some of the forms that I had learn were created from his Master - a pupil of Cheung Lai Chun.

My recommendation:

If you want to learn Pak Mei, don't bother buying this book. Find an instructor and learn from them, but beward of con-artists.

If you've practiced Pak Mei, but don't care much about it's history, don't bother with this book.

If you are a Kung Fu fanatic and would just like to know about the many different styles within the Martial Arts world, $17.95 is not much.

If you've learned Pak Mei, and would like to collect anything that is related to it. GET THIS BOOK!

To the previous viewer, how can you give it 5 stars if you haven't even read the book yet? I don't think it deserve 1 star or 5 stars. I gave it zero star for kung fu content, but I will give it 2 stars for it's coverage on it's history and rare photos. Oh, I added the 3rd star is because I love Pak Mei.

In-House Bio, Only So-So

This is a very ordinary in-house biography of the legendary street writer Donald Goines. The book came out shortly after Goines's death (in 1974) and was commissioned by his very own publisher (Holloway House), likely as a means of capitalizing on their star author's underground fame.

Some corporate bias is evident here, with the biographer Eddie Stone extolling Holloway House's role in Goines's life. Moreover, Stone's glossing of each novel's plot can get tiresome -- it's like having to listen to a high-school book report on Kenyatta when in fact you'd rather just read about Kenyatta himself.

Check out Eddie Allen's more recent Low Road (2004) for a far more balanced account of Goines's life.

THIS BOOK HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE LIFE OF DONALD GOINES. THE BOOK GAVE SUMMARIES OF ALL HIS BOOKS. THIS BOOK DID GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF HOW HE GREW UP AND HOW HE WAS KILLED. OTHER THAN THAT THE BOOK WAS JUST GIVING YOU SUMMARIES OF HIS BOOKS. MAYBE THE PERSON WHO WROTE THIS BOOK SHOULD HAVE KNEW ENOUGH ABOUT DONALD GOINES TO WRITE ABOUT HIM. THE BOOK DID NOT TELL WHAT HAPPENED TO HIS KIDS AFTER HIM AND HIS WIFE WERE KILLED. THE BOOK DID NOT TELL WHAT HAPPENED TO HIS MOTHER OR SISTERS. I JUST THINK SOMEONE ELSE NEED TO GIVE US A BIOGRAPHY OF THE BEST AUTHOR EVER!

This is nothing but a review of his work! Not his life

This book was poorly written with more input from the deceased. Stone fails to capture the life of Mr. Goines, he goes into a brief description of his fathers history, he only touches on the disintegration of his family because of his drugs, but fails to show why he keeps such a strong sense of family. He never touches on his relationships with family members, he constantly goes on tangents losing you with his personal opinions that he associates with different excerpts from different books written by Goines, that in turn make unneccesary paragraphs. He dedicates almost nothing to his wife or many children he has with different women, consequently he never even mentions his many encounters with women but at the end of the book he just casually mentions his other children. Stone down plays the different characters who shaped his life and his habit. He only goes into depth about several pimping incidents Goines runs into during his life. This book was horrible and grossly misleading for an biography and I hope Mr. Stone stays far away from destroying anyone elses biography.

A decent read, but I couldn't get past Stone's references to Lake Michigan. "Gray clouds covering Detroit from Lake Michigan", "A cold wind blowing off Lake Michigan", "It was a cold day on the shores of Lake Michigan." What the heck was Stone talking about? The City of Detroit is about as close to Lake Michigan as Phoenix, Arizona is to the Pacific Ocean. There's a Detroit RIVER...and there's Lake Huron and Lake Erie....but it takes a few hours and a few hundred miles to get to Lake Michigan from Detroit. If he couldn't get THAT right, I have to wonder about the rest of his research...

Mind Numbing

I must start off by saying that when I first read this book I had very little knowledge of Hirohito or his involvement in WWII. However, after reading Behind the Myth, as well as learning a bit more, I now feel safe saying that the book is quite good, if not a little flawed. In all fairness the author was doing what was unheard of at the time the book was written, and that call just dead emperor of Japan a criminal of war. He made some rather broad generalizations and assumptions, but he managed to plant the seed of doubt in my mind. Granted, if you want to convince someone that Hirohito was guilty of starting the war, or that he should have even been tried, this book won't provide you with that information, however it is a good start. He won't convince you, but he will numb your mind and make it ready to accept the possibility.

Hirohito NOT a war criminal!!!

I feel this is a good and educational book, yet I consider it somewhat flawed. The entire theme of the book is the author's contention that Hirohito is a war criminal, but after reading the book I feel that Hirohito is NOT a war criminal. It is amazing that the author spent 400 pages with the biased intent to convince the reader of Hirohito's war criminality, yet I felt the polar opposite after finishing the book.

Basically what I took from the book was that Hirohito was a skinny, little man who was a powerless puppet of the pro-war military and political factions. Simply, Hirohito reminded me of the Mr. Carlson character on the sitcom, WKRP in Cincinnati, a clueless figurehead who simply sat back a let others run the show.

Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed the book and learned a great deal and I recommend it. I simply found that the author unwittingly disproved his initial contention by the time I finished the book.

Some rather broad assumptions....

I stumbled upon a hardcover of this book in a used bookstore and therefore did not know what to expect.

Behr writes well, no question. The book is an enjoyable read, but unfortunately the author does not let proof or substantiation get in the way of a good theory.

Behr's book is full of throw-away phrases (always without footnotes or any other form of academic proof) such as "Hirohito almost certainly studied this document" or "Hirohito was well aware..."

Unfortunately Behr's thesis is undermined by Japan's historical reality. Emperors have been the plaything of the Japanese warrior class since before the first Shogunate and remained so until Meiji. How Behr can assume that this situation changed within a few decades is beyond me. Behr falls into the trap of many 20th century journalists and political scientists--the assumption that the world began in 1905.

But for six bucks from a used book store...well, it was a fun read.

A look inside Japanesse tradition

A great look into the mentality of the leaders of Japan before, during, and after WWII. This unbiased well written book shows the depth of Japanesse tradition and how it influenced the actions of an entire country. Behr gives enough information on supporting characters, but not enough to confuse the reader. An overall great book.

I am not exactly sure what Edward Behr is trying to say in this biography of Emperor Hirohito. From my perception, he seem to be saying that Hirohito is gulity of war crimes but not responsible for them. I think I get the feeling that Behr himself may not be sure. One of the earlier reviews which compared Hirohito with "Mr. Carlson from WKRP" seem to be a very good analogy. I don't think Hirohito was that clueless but his influence wasn't all that great. I would recommended that new Pulitzer prize winning biography that came out several years ago. It has a more balance view on the man.
