This spiral-bound cookbook provides a wonderful treasury of great recipes from appetizers like the flavorful egg rolls from House of Chan to desserts like yummy Fresh Strawberry Pie. Compiled by the Friends of the West Shore Symphony of Muskegon, Michigan, it includes recipes from individuals as well as fine eateries around the area. You will enjoy the many interesting and delicious flavor combinations! Some of my family's favorites are: Oven Fried Salmon Steak, Herbed Tomatoes, Maestro Murry's Curry Chicken, Sticky Buns, and Pecan Cheesecake. This cookbook would be an excellent addition to anyone's cookbook collection. It REALLY is an "enchanted eating experience"!

Special Margin Study Guide.
The Sword have a unique easy to use margin study guide with over 90 topics from which to choose. This margin study guide allows the reader to go from cover-to-cover using the pure word of God as their study. There are many other study helps too numerous to list. To name just a few are: a topical concordance, maps, earthquake charts, flood information, the chronology of the bible (by Dr. Floyd Jones), Bible and Science (by Dr. Henry Morris), guide to the laws of the Bible, Jewish calendar, a survey of Daniel's 70 weeks, land and people of the Bible, the time of the patriarchs, judges and kings, and on and on.
The Received Text
Another primary difference between the KJV Easy Reading and other versions on the market is it follows the Received Text. The Received Text is what the church fathers have used for nearly 400 years. The Easy Reading follows the King James text almost word for word merely updating language. Among the many reasons for this is it allows one who has learned English as a second language to have an understanding of the scriptures without thee's and thous'. Please note this has all been done without changing one word of doctrine or touching deity.
Difficult Term Definitions
Underlined words are defined at the end of the verse in a different typeface. When an underlined word occurs more than once per column, it is defined generally in the first and last occurrence in the text column. The explanatory words are not necessarily to be understood as alternate translations, nor as corrective translations. These words, however, will often open up the meaning of a word or verse that often has been otherwise not understood or misunderstood.
Superscript P's
Many wanted the reliability of the King James Bible but were unfamiliar or uncomfortable with many of the old English forms and words. The King James Easy-Reading Bible changes all second person singular pronouns to their modern equivalents: thee (you), thy (your), thine (yours), and thyself (yourself). To distinguish the plural pronouns from the singular ones, the King James Easy-Reading Bible places a superscript p (meaning plural) after each plural second person pronoun. Accordingly, the old English forms yield to the modern equivalents: ye (you p ), you (you p ), your (your p ), yours (yours ), and yourselves (yourselves ). Whenever these forms reflect the name of deity, they begin with a capital letter.

As a World War 2 29th ID reenactor I come up against SS soldaten all of the time, and I have always wanted to know more about their history. This series of books does a very good job of explaining the ideas behind the SS and it also does a good job of giving the history of the Wiking division and why non-germans would fight for those who invaded their country. It is well illustrated also with lots of very good quality pictures.

This is an unabridged dictionary for the language most Belizeans use when conversing with each other (even though English is the official language for Belize). The words in the dictionary were selected for their common day-to-day usage, thus the "Street Talk" title for the work.
This book is regrettably out of print, but well worth purchasing if you can find it.

Educators frequently express concern about not being trained in the area of special education. They often times do not feel prepared to teach students with special needs because they aren't familiar with their characteristics, and have limited instructional and behavioral strategies that work with them. The more teachers know about their students the confident they are in responding to the students' needs.
This guide is designed to provide teachers with a quick and ready use resource to address the student needs on a daily basis. It highlights various categories and characteristics of students with special needs, along with key instructioal and behavioral strategies that work. Though terminology varies from state to state, the information described is applicable to students who posess the needs, irregardless of the label.

An Objective Assessment of Netaji's ideas and vision
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2000-05-24
Review Date: 2000-05-24
Our author, Dr. Abul Kalam, has written a well-thought out and objective book on the leading statesman of the Indian Subcontinent during the struggle against British occupation in the 1940s. Furthermore, he has helped to bring out information that had been unknown until quite recently. And has thereby presented a well-rounded assessment of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. In my opinion, Dr Kalam should have been a bit more critical of the traitor Nirad Chowdhuri, whose enmity towards Subhas Chandra and the independence of the subcontinent is not only baffling but incomprehensible. His hate for Netaji and his support for the foreign occupation of the Subcontinent were linked. He could not forgive Netaji because he was one of the architects of Subcontinent's struggle for freedom. "Quislings" and traitors come in various degrees and one has to accept that here was another that went down the wrong path. Some traitors, like the Frenchman, August Marmont, living in the 19th century finally showed some remorse when he was at the end of his life. We will perhaps never know if Nirad Chowdhuri felt any such remorse. The author has made a strong point about Netaji's willingness to take aid from countries fighting Britain, I would add that throughout modern times countries fighting for their independence have always taken aid, and at times from unusual sources. For example, the United States of America, fighting for Republican ideals and democracy during her war of independence, took aid from the rigid monarchy of the Bourbon dynasty. (An unlikely source indeed, since American ideals for democracy hardly coincided with the autocratic rule of Louis XVI, but France supported the young Republic because it served her purpose) Britain herself, the defender of colonialism and imperialism at that time during World War II, took help from her arch-enemy, the guardian of communism, the Soviet Union, to defeat Nazism and Fascism. If Britain could take help from her ideological enemy to defeat another enemy, why couldn't Netaji and the Indian subcontinent take help from the enemies of their enemy Britain? With these things in mind, Netaji can hardly be blamed for asking for help from countries hostile to Britain. And there were solid examples of assistance to independence movements by foreign powers, again in the past. In 1798, that great Irish freedom fighter, Theobald Wolfe Tone, succeeded in getting a French fleet from the Directory government of France, in the hopes of defeating British rule in Ireland. Propelled by such ideas, Subhas Chandra went first to Germany and then to Southeast Asia. His detractors have tried to claim that he was a Nazi, or whatnot. Yet, he never sympathized with Nazism. The Free India Radio in Berlin never broadcasted anything favourable to the Nazis. The Indian Legion created in Germany never took part in action in Russia or Greece. The Indian Legion took part in light action against British forces in 1944 after the Normandy landing. In fact, Netaji sympathized with the anti-Nazi movement of the German Kreisau circle and prominent anti-Nazi German diplomats like Adam von Trott. Again, he was not interested in Fascism, he would take help from Germany as along as it did not in any way compromise the independence movement of the Indian subcontinent. The moment direct German help became unlikely, he returned to southeast Asia to continue the struggle there with the Indian National Army. Our author is quite right to point out that Netaji revolutionized the people of the subcontinent and the soldiers in the British army with the INA and helped bring about the end of British rule. Netaji was a pragmatist who had no illusions to the fact that the collapse of Germany and Japan would also mean the defeat of the Indian National Army, indeed, he told so to his German friend, Admiral Wilhelm Canaris, the head of German intelligence during WWII, another anti-Nazi. BUT the difference was, he continued, that this time the INA in defeat would transform the people of the subcontinent to realize their true worth and thereby bring about the end of the British occupation. Netaji was 'the' revolutionary of this titanic struggle, Gandhi and Nehru were either exhausted or simply disinclined to take the struggle to its ultimate goal;complete independence for the subcontinent. Gandhi's movement failed, and Nehru in his bid to become architect of India was not willing to to have the vision that Netaji had. Satish Chandra Maikap, in his book "Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and the Indian War of Independence", quotes British Prime Minister Attlee as saying that the movement of Gandhi was minimal in the British decision to withdraw but that the Indian National Army of Netaji Subhas Bose WAS an all compelling reason that destroyed the trust the British had in their Indian soldiers and made withdrawal a necessity. In many ways Netaji Subhas Bose resembled the 20th century Irish Statesman and Leader, Michael Collins, who masterminded the freedom struggle of his country, only be removed from the scene by a cruel twist of fate, leaving the fate of his country in the hands of lesser and incapable men. S.C. Maikap points to amongst other things, Nehru's failure in foreign policy and the attacks on India by Pakistan soon after Partition and by China in 1962. Our author, Dr. Kalam is also quite right in pointing out that Netaji Bose above all wished for an end to all forms of discrimination and social injustices in the Subcontinent. He never bore other religions any resentment or hate. All in all, Dr. Abul Kalam has written an excellent work that is at the same time unbiased and objective. Unlike Nirad Chowdhuri, whose views were based on the platform against the subcontinent's independence(and this attitude while he (Nirad Chowdhuri)was a Subcontinental? ) and others like Hugh Toye, whose works are based on anti-Netaji sentiments and in general attempts at character assasination in conjunction with other reasons. With even communists having changed their tone in the subcontinent as to the role of Netaji, I would say that the move to rehabilitate Netaji in his rightful place is well underway. Three leaders were prominent in the struggle to overthrow British occupation of India, and Netaji, as it is becoming more and more clear, was in a class above and beyond the other two. I think Dr. Kalam's book helps to illustrate that point quite clearly.

Since the late 1980s, education refomers in the United States have emphasized "restructuring" of schools. Has it worked? Have changes in school structure - such as site-based management, interdisciplinary team teacking, flexible scheduling and assessment by portfolio - actually boosted student achievement? What other conditions tend to make such organizational innovations successful?
This report synthesizes five years of research by the Center on Organization and Restructuring of Schools. From 1990 to 1995, the Center analyzed data from more than 1,500 elementary, middle and high schools throughout the United States, and conducted field research in 44 schools in 16 states. Researchers examined schools at many different stages of restructuring, and analyzed schools taking part in a variety of district and state reform strategies, including public school choice, radical decentralization and state-level systemic reform. Their report provide a rich combination of in-depth case studies and survey data portraying general trends.
This report presents evidence that structural reforms can work, but only when human and social resources are organized to provide particular forms of support for schools and students.

Remembering the stress of his second year of law school Prof. Barber has written about the causes of stress, pressures on interpersonal relationships and handling stress. He suggests some very practical ways or reducing stress and writes about "Relaxed Attention". His Selected References is excellent. Written in 1987, but some things, like human nature and law school, don't change much over the years.

This is a depression era writers' project under the WPA, sponsored by the Texas State Highway Commission. The most recent entries are over 60 years old and written by Texans. (copyright is 1940.) Delightful details for fifteen Texas cities and 29 suggested tours include facilities and places that have changed greatly or no longer exist. Many descriptions and pieces of local information would not be considered "politically correct" today. The book includes over 100 historic black and white photos, illustrations and maps...from ex-slaves,cattle auctions and tortilla factories to oil derricks, airfields and shrines. Great for Texas history and nostalgia buffs!
