Sakti and Sakta, the compendium on Shakta Tantric beliefs and practices, is an essential and indispensible volume on Tantra by Sir John Woodroffe (as Arthur Avalon, a rather composite figure which includes Woodroffe as well as his Indian friends, who were his translators and commentators). It was written at the turn of the 20th century, during the British colonial occupation of India, and so it is not what one might call an easy or leisurely read. The text assumes some familiarity with Hindu and/or Tantric religious terms, so it would be helpful to keep a copy of John Grimes' A Concise Dictionary of Indian Philosophy: Sanskrit Terms Defined in English handy while you're reading it, and avoid reading it very late at night (unless you need help getting to sleep!), as it's fairly dense. Nonetheless, it is an exciting piece of work, and still one of the best treatises on Shakta Tantra in existence, if somewhat imperfect.

For college students, scholars and practitioners alike, this book details the major themes and concepts of Shakta Tantra - one of the main branches of Tantra, which revolves around worship of the goddess - and attempts to link them to a Vedic philosophy. It is safe to say that Woodroffe's goal in writing this book was to validate Tantra as an extension of Vedic beliefs (therefore legitimizing it), part of the vast heterodoxy that is Hinduism. Although this can sometimes warp the author's perspective on various points of belief and practice, the well-grounded reader will spot these, and nevertheless appreciate the overwhelming usefulness of this book.

The Buntus Cainte books and tapes are an easy way to learn some basic Irish vocabulary and simple sentences. The series is designed to be "first steps in spoken Irish," and the steps are easy to follow. The tapes and pictures are helpful and make the course fun, for adults as well as children.

I've had this book since it first came out - a signed copy. You can tell it is used because it is falling apart! I'm not much of a cook so haven't tried a great number of recipes but wanted to say that the "Melt in Your Mouth Meatballs" are the best I've ever had. I've had many compliments on them and someone always asks for the recipe. I use ground round, seasoned Italian bread crumbs, and leave out the onion for my kids. They are great plain or in sauce, plus I've frozen them ahead of time. I'm writing this review because a friend just asked me for the recipe (had them at a football tailgate) and I looked to see if the book happened to still be available.

This spiral-bound cookbook provides a wonderful treasury of great recipes from appetizers like the flavorful egg rolls from House of Chan to desserts like yummy Fresh Strawberry Pie. Compiled by the Friends of the West Shore Symphony of Muskegon, Michigan, it includes recipes from individuals as well as fine eateries around the area. You will enjoy the many interesting and delicious flavor combinations! Some of my family's favorites are: Oven Fried Salmon Steak, Herbed Tomatoes, Maestro Murry's Curry Chicken, Sticky Buns, and Pecan Cheesecake. This cookbook would be an excellent addition to anyone's cookbook collection. It REALLY is an "enchanted eating experience"!

Having lived in South Africa many years ago, this book brought back wonderful memories of the sheer beauty of the land and the warmth of her people. The photographs are beautiful and the narrative is informative. I recommend it to anyone interested in knowing more about South Africa or simply viewing photos of its stunningly beautiful scenery.

The Received Text
Another primary difference between the KJV Easy Reading and other versions on the market is it follows the Received Text. The Received Text is what the church fathers have used for nearly 400 years. The Easy Reading follows the King James text almost word for word merely updating language. Among the many reasons for this is it allows one who has learned English as a second language to have an understanding of the scriptures without thee's and thous'. Please note this has all been done without changing one word of doctrine or touching deity.

Difficult Term Definitions
Underlined words are defined at the end of the verse in a different typeface. When an underlined word occurs more than once per column, it is defined generally in the first and last occurrence in the text column. The explanatory words are not necessarily to be understood as alternate translations, nor as corrective translations. These words, however, will often open up the meaning of a word or verse that often has been otherwise not understood or misunderstood.

Superscript P's
Many wanted the reliability of the King James Bible but were unfamiliar or uncomfortable with many of the old English forms and words. The King James Easy-Reading Bible changes all second person singular pronouns to their modern equivalents: thee (you), thy (your), thine (yours), and thyself (yourself). To distinguish the plural pronouns from the singular ones, the King James Easy-Reading Bible places a superscript p (meaning plural) after each plural second person pronoun. Accordingly, the old English forms yield to the modern equivalents: ye (you p ), you (you p ), your (your p ), yours (yours ), and yourselves (yourselves ). Whenever these forms reflect the name of deity, they begin with a capital letter.

As a World War 2 29th ID reenactor I come up against SS soldaten all of the time, and I have always wanted to know more about their history. This series of books does a very good job of explaining the ideas behind the SS and it also does a good job of giving the history of the Wiking division and why non-germans would fight for those who invaded their country. It is well illustrated also with lots of very good quality pictures.

This is an unabridged dictionary for the language most Belizeans use when conversing with each other (even though English is the official language for Belize). The words in the dictionary were selected for their common day-to-day usage, thus the "Street Talk" title for the work.
This book is regrettably out of print, but well worth purchasing if you can find it.
