Fantastic information source on green products
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2004-05-22
If you are looking for environmentally preferable, or "green" building products and materials, then check the book out. Published by the folks who put out "Environmental Building News," it contains helpful listings for hundreds and hundreds of products.

I really like that they don't accept any advertising or fees from the product manufacturers... makes me feel like I can trust what they have to say.

The information is well organized and presented. The listings are organized by "CSI masterspec" which is a system used by Architects, so it takes some getting used to if you're not an Architect... for example, insulation is under "thermal protection." There is a handy cross-reference index by more common category names of products.

There's also some "specification" language... another aspect that is more useful for architects than the general public. But it gives some good tips on how and why to use these green materials. I have heard that the publisher, BuildingGreen, is coming out with a "homeowner" version soon.

Guide to California Planning
Helpful Votes: 10 out of 10 total.
Review Date: 2004-07-31
This book is the bible of California planning. I have worked in the field of urban planning for several years. The complexity of coastal California development is such that even the majority of people practicing in the field can't explain the whole process. This book is the only reference that I have seen that tells you what the heck is going on, in fact college classes are taught using this book...

I just purchased 2000 Guide to Literary Agents, and it was worth every penny. The book is the best one out there for seeking an agent. It has everything I need to research and find the right agent for me. The next question is, will that agent know a great story when they see one? We'll find out.

The most thorough guide to real estate and mortgage software
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2001-04-20
It lists over a hundred companies that develop software for the real estate and mortgage banking industry. Software that tracks your clients specifically for mortgages or real estate, keeps info, prepares letters, estimates, comparisons all the way down to guiding the loan and real estate transactions to the closing stage with complete cruise control. I contacted many companies and they usually send free demos and I purchased the one that best suited my needs and it helped me maintain client info and keep contact with them while at the same time developing new relationships and approaching new potential customers with ease!

I was surprised that in a city of more than 80,000 inhabitants with surrounding population of another 80,000 in nearby towns I was one of maybe a handful of either real estate agents or loan officers who even used a software program! This is out of over 300 licensed realtors and another 40 loan officers!

This allowed me to close more loans a month than the majority, get more referrals and have an 85% to 95% customer loyalty with no advertising!!!

If you want to develop a clientele, maintain happy customers, track referrals and enjoy a business on cruise control in this business you need to use the latest technology to take you there (where few others are at!!!)!!!

A MUST HAVE!!

These guides (Right & Left), are an excellent tool to discover just "WHO" is out there and "WHY".
Although these groups come and go, Laird Wilcox keeps track with the groups listed and hardly anyone is missed in the next year's edition.
A MUST HAVE database for anyone who is interested in the study of social/political extremism and provides "contact" information for each group listed.

This is the definitive reference for all things Irish in the New England States. Whether you're looking for events, education, artists, organizations or just a pub, here's the place to begin. It's very handily divided up by state and by category. The alphabetized index is extremely helpful too.

Written by Victoria-based, award-winning journalist Ross Crockford, Victoria: The Unknown City is an in-depth guide to one of Canada's and the world's top tourist destinations. Packed with directions, recommendations, and tidbits of history regarding everything from popular bars to the remnants of the original Fort Victoria to local haunted locations and advice for avoiding long waits and bad seats on the BC Ferries, Victoria is the "go-to" guide for experiencing all the adventure and wonder the city has to offer. Black-and-white photographs and an index round out a solid guide to tourist activities from sports to dining to shopping, nightlife, and experiencing local media.
