Judy Moody tried to fake being sick because she didn't want to go to school. Later on in the school year, she did an operation on a zucchini for a class project. I thought this was a very humorous story. It was incredible! i really liked it.

Judy Moody, M.D
The Doctor Is In!
By Megan McDonald

Judy Moody is back!!! This time Judy has a challenge to become just like her idol, Elizabeth Blackwell, the first women doctor. Judy has a school assignment and it's about the human body. Judy dresses up like Elizabeth Blackwell for her project and operates on her patient, a zucchini. Meanwhile her brother, Stink gets sick, and her friend Frank tries to clone a guinea pig that is Jessica Finch's, Judy's enemy. This book is for kids of all ages. The illustrator did an awesome job on all the pictures and the author describes the situations beautifully and you can get a picture in your mind about what she is talking about. This book is really laugh out loud funny. I think that Judy is hilarious because she tries all these crazy things and she thinks that she can become the first girl doctor. Are Judy's friends there to help her or betray her? Hope you enjoy this book!!

Judy Moody is the best series I have ever read.

Judy Moody is a spunky third grader who wants to become a doctor. When Judy finds out she has to do a project for school she is really happy and wants to do it on Elizabeth Blackwell, first female doctor. While working on the report her brother gets sick and now Judy Moody has her first patient. Judy tries all kinds of ways to make her brother, Stink, feel much better.

The class really liked Judy's report. Next, her friends played a trick on her. When she found out, she was really mad and did not want to talk to them anymore. Now, poor Judy gets sick and has to stay home for twelve days. Luckily, she has good friends who come to her house and help make her feel better.

I have never before had the pleasure of reading Judy Moody, but as I noticed all the kids at school pretty much worshipping her, I figured I would give her a shot. She is a spunky little heroine without being cliche and therefore a great role-model to third grade girls everywhere! This particular adventure deals with the difficult process of making new friends while still keeping tabs on the old, a situation that complicates a class project. The writing is bright, simple, and wonderfully inclined to wander into randomness, but that is part of the intense charm.

In the book there is a girl named Amy Namey. Judy doesn't like her but as the book goes on they become friends. If you like Judy Moody books, you will like this one. I think it would take weeks to go around the world. Will she do it in 8 1/2 days? Read to find out!

I read Judy Moody Around the World In 8 ½ Days. It was great for the following reasons. I think whoever reads this book will understand it very well because it had very clear writing. Second of all, Judy is very creative because she could make pickle flavored gum. Third of all, this book is funny and you see that in the chapter headings. Some of these are "Eatsa Pizza," "Club Snub," "Heebie Jeebie" and "Bratellino Frattellino." Last of all I think one of the illustrations is fuuny. It is a striped furry spider with 8 legs.

I think Judy Moody Around the World In 8 ½ Days was bad because there was some name-calling in the book. Also because there is a fight between Judy Moody and a guy named Frank who was playing her dance music too fast.

In summary, these are all the reasons that I felt this book was bad and good.

Entertaining and educational!

Beautifully done pen and ink drawings set the mood for this light read with a serious story.

Judy Moody meets a girl whose name also rhymes, and also shares her dedication to offbeat interests. With Judy suddenly feeling that she's lost her identity -- she's no longer one-of-a-kind -- we all wonder if Judy will make this girl her nemisis, or become her pal!

Young readers will read Judy Moody: Around the World in 8 1/2 Days over and over again. Kudos once again to Megan McDonald for a great read!

Yay for Judy Moody!

This bible is a perfect size, not to big or small and the print is not large not too small, and there is something about the way in which it is bound that when it sits open it fits comfortably in your hand and the pages stay open until you change them, you know how some books are bound so when you open them you have to keep your hand on the page to keep it open, this is bound so that it stays where you open it, that is very important to prevent frustration. Enjoy

Beautiful Binding, perfect size, refences. My favorite by far! Perfect Bible!!!

As far as English translations are concerned, I prefer the NKJV. It is a Nelson translation, so not all publishers carry it. For further reviews on the translation itself, there are many resources for comparison. I tend to read the same verse in various versions for comparison on personal preference. NKJV doesn't include pronunciation markings within the words, which I consider very distracting. If I am looking for a pronunciation guide in a KJV Bible, rather than markings within the words, they are hard to find. Also, I find the "thee" and "thou" and "eth" and the end of verbs shocking to read and harder to read with a "flow" (kind of interrupting). The NKJV takes care of all those complaints without detracting from the meaning of the passages.

I will proceed with reviewing the unique features of this Bible. It is a very comfortable size (perfect from my perspective). It is large enough for nice print size, and small enough for comfortable weight due to the slim binding. It has a reference column, which I was looking for in a slim line Bible. It also comes in genuine leather, which I think is a must for a long lasting Bible. I purchased it as a follow-on Bible to my Nelson 3016 (0785200304) - see my review for that one - I do love that Bible, but this one meets the only weaknesses of that one, without compromising the nice features. Nelson has a slim reference edition, but they don't have a genuine leather version for it, which in my opinion is a huge miss. If no references are desired, the Nelson 3016 is the best.

I bought the Burgundy version of this Bible for myself because my Nelson is black and I wanted a different color. I also bought the black one for a friend. The Burgundy color has a more red hue than purple. I really like the color. Before I ordered, I went to a local book store and saw the color of an NIV Holman slimline (they didn't have the NKJV in stock), and this is the same, so I am glad I saw the color first (it is hard to describe a color). I have posted photos to help visualizing product. It has a shiny finish with a grooved random looking pattern to the cover (both for the Black - 1558194371 and Burgundy - 1558194398 versions). One interesting tidbit is that the Black version comes in a red box, while the Burgundy version comes in a green box ... go figure. The concordance is identical to the Nelson mentioned before. The font is too (maybe a bit less spacing, since there is more text per page). The maps are nicer in this Bible than the ones in the Nelson. I do like the verse-by-verse format this Bible has (as does the Nelson) because I can find verses faster than looking through the middle of a paragraph. The tone of the red letter ink is nice and readable (not pink).

The only things that I have noticed as negatives (not quite) are:
1. The top page margin is wider than the bottom margin, but although it is kind of awkward at initial impression, I will use it in the event of taking notes ;-).
2. The leather is a bit stiff (at least more than my Nelson), but I hope that it will soften over time, since another friend has had one for a while and it is softer. It doesn't quite open flat yet as my Nelson does.
3. Some pages have a dimmer print (as with less toner), but not many.
4. The genuine leather only comes in Black and Burgundy. For me it's not bad, but tan or brown options would be nicer for some other people.

Finally, I must admit that I am a hard buy. I ended up buying 4 Bibles prior to this one and returned them all. I have several study Bibles, but for a daily (non-Study) Bible, this is the best!!

I have no understanding or training in Kyudo (I am ranked in Kenjutsu - Japanese swordsmanship), and have purchased this book in order to practice with my new bow, and add a new level to my Budo training.

The wonderful sketches, explanation and pictures are no replacement for a real teacher, but this book is as close as possible to it. Detailed forms of the draw and shot, explanation of common mistakes, graphs of missed shots and what mistake in the correct form they reflect.

I recommend this book the kyudo practitioners, and want-to-be practitioners - A great way to connect yourself to the Japanese way of the bow.

Just remember - the first step is to stop fearing the bow...

This is a good basic book on how to be an effective leader through mastering the skills of effective conversation. Most communication takes place through verbally, therefore the way we carry out our conversation is very critical if we are to be able to resolve conflicts in the organization, the motivate teams, to negotiate effectively, to be good listeners, good coaches and to hold effective meetings.

The author presented effective techniques that should help managers and leaders to enhance their conversation skills. The author provides insights and practical advice that should help leaders and any other readers to examine how they carry out their conversation and how this can be improved upon.

This is a well written book that I found easy to read, follow and understand that helped me to improve my communication skills and therefore recommend it strongly.

This is a well thought out book. Most of its information is practical and useful. It takes a bit of time and work to begin to apply the material. Overall, the book's strength lies in its simplicity without becoming a cheesy "1,2,3" type book.

This book is an easy read and has step by step techniques that are easy to use. It focuses on understanding distinctions of why people say something and then tries to help put it in a catagory that you can handle with a leadership decision to motivate and coach. Don't let the first chapter discourage you from reading this amazing book. Although written with managers in mind anyone can benefit from its wise statements. Krisco delivers all he promises in his introduction. You will learn about listening filters, coaching others, couching your ideas so that people will listen. This book is full of insights and pithy sayings that will make you reflect upon your whole life not just your work life. You will learn to understand the "little voice" in your head and learn about listening filters. This book will make you a leader. A leader is described by Krisco as someone who consistently produces extraordiny results. I just completed reading this book and intend to revisit it many more times. I highly recommend this extraordinary work!

Lucky to find this "should be" Best Seller

Review Date: 1999-08-21
This book has ideas, concepts, and practical applications that should rank it up with THE SEVEN HABITS and THE FIFTH DISCIPLINE. But perhaps it is too small to be noticed by land-bound browsers, too casual for Kotter followers, and not avante guard enough for the Fast Company crowd.

You can't judge a book by its size, especially business books. So many authors take 600 pages to make the same point over and over with real world examples that suggest the author was "on the inside" as if we buy by the pound. Havard is the place to look for books grounded in theory and occasionally principal. And one out of twenty does influence business thinking. For the Fast Company crowd, a book offering scripts of what to say may sound too pedestrian. But for the seasoned leader looking to polish his skills, Krisco has just the buffer. And it is just the kind of book for beginners--not built on other theories, profound but not cumbersome. Like the Seven Habits, Leadership and the Art of Conversation rests on a few key ideas. One is a simple as you can't change the past. This is not a revelation but recognizing that is where most of us waste our primary tool for communication was an ah-ha for me. The straight-forward definition of leadership is free of concepts of power and more than hints at the core of leadership. Of course, to benefit from the book the reader will have to change deeper than a surface technique. Few are willing, as is usual when the rewards are great. Like Covey it puts the focus on the circle of influence by connecting today's conversation with what happens in the tomorrows. It's just a reminder that best sellers and best books are frequently two entirely different things. But hey, true leaders don't look for herds to follow. May this communication spark your interest in building a desireable future.

The audio version reads like a bedtime story, although it soon gets into subjects that would probably bore 99% of children. However, this style along with the brevity, make it very easy for adults to listen to, say during long commutes in a car. HOWEVER, it is extremely inaccurate! Most Americans will be rather shocked to learn that Benjamin Franklin lead the American Revolution, that the North was the weaker of the warring parties in the Civil War, that we have a Parliament instead of a Congress, and that Wilson conned the Germans into accepting the Treaty of Versailles (although the reader apologizes for this last huge guffaw). There appear to be a similar magnitude of errors in the history of other countries, but I'm not as familiar with non-American history (why I got the book in the first place). While its good that this will keep you listening, its bad that you will be hearing many false statements.

Ralph Cosham performs a superb reading of E. H. Gombrich's world history for children. His gentle voice and respectful tone are a perfect match for E. H. Gombrich's splendid and charming retelling of history. Gombrich never forgets who his intended readers are--children and young adults--and how he must engage them and not leave them behind. At the same time, he never patronizes his readers. A lesser reader could have spoiled author's efforts by overlaying the wrong tone or sensibility--such as, history is meant to be endued, not enjoyed; the student should be left anxious and guilt ridden, never astounded and enthralled by the best story ever told.

This is the perfect spoken book for long rides in a car or for long walks. I love every minute of it and I will hunt down other reading by Cosham.

We've purchased the CD version, and every time we get in the car, the kids (ages 7 and 10) ask if they can hear more history. I can't imagine any parent not enjoying hearing those words! The book is highly focused on European history and the German experience, but it's all interesting. My son thought it was cool to know the background of the author and how he came to write the book before hearing the rest of it read; that gives perspective to certain things. Opinions definitely seep in, but I didn't find any of them bothersome. The main thing the CD collection is missing is any sort of index. A CD may end in the middle of a chapter. So, it is difficult to go back to particular points in history. It pretty much has to be listened to in order. An amazing story, however. Our history, beautifully read.

If you are just starting towards investments or near retirement I would recommend this book. A very small investment in your future.

Craig Rappaport has done a GREAT job in taking the mystery out of financial investment jargon. Terms are brought down to earth so that we all can understand investments and investment strategy. This book will empower you to ask smarter questions and make smarter decisions that can result in greater wealth accumulation at retirement. If you've sat helplessly listening to a financial advisor talk over your head, this is the book for you. Instead of being at the mercy of an advisor, you will have a greater knowledge of financial options and be better able to work with an advisor to meet your financial wealth expectations. I only wish he had written it 20 years ago!

I brought up just a few of the points made in the book that my broker had not considered and we are using them as the basis for my plan. Everytime I read a chapter I seem to be able to understand and use the information in discussions with my broker. When I think of a change I might make I just plug the new numbers into the software and see how it will effect my results. It's easy to use and adjust. Best of all, my broker asked for the name of the book.

I haven't finished reading this book yet and I'm already hoping for a sequel. This book is so easy to follow and understand. The one issue that no author seems to address is how do you create a paycheck or generate cash flow from your investments. Live Long, Live Rich covers this topic very well. And as far as the software that Mr. Rappaport recommends, I've already upgraded to the full version. It's as easy to use as stated. So, with the mouse in one hand and the book in the other, our retirement plan is becoming much clearer. This book has helped us see the big picture.

You will identify the undesirable effects and construct diagrams to help you discover the root causes. You will identify the limiting factors that prevent you from achieving your goals. You will identify the intermediate objectives which help you reach your goals. And you will learn more acronyms than you thought you could ever remember. Perhaps you will even become a better thinker. Use this book to understand Goldratt's Thinking Process, and to solve your difficult problem.

With some new simplifications and very effective process summaries, this book is an essential tool when you have a serious problem to address. Bills clear and concise writing makes the material accessible to all. His personal experiences improving many organizations ensure results.

I wish our politicians could use a process like this to address the systemic problems that plague Washington DC and our nation, such as Health Care. One can only hope...

We just started the first chapter in a business mens group and its been a great challenge, most of the men have been beeliever for quite some time, and the feedback has been great. Although at times very deep and needing some serious time of reflection to take it all in, its an excellent resource to grow you men (of any age or stage in their walk) to a stronger walk with the Lord, challenging you to be more like the master!

Our group is going over this book and meeting every 2 weeks.

I think I prefer the workbook version, this is not the same, this is a complete book with a coupe challenge questions at the end.

The workbook is has much more in the way of self examining questions, but might be more intimidating to some based on the pace and number of questions.

There is a leaders guide with an accompanied dvd as well, we only recently found it and ordered it, so I cant say how helpful it wil be.

I would highly recommend this resource to anyone.

I am currently reading this book with a small group of men I meet with weekly. It is a great book to help in understanding God's refining process for men and the different ways he uses us for His divine purpose. Blackaby bases his book on scripture and not his own ideas. I am finding it a very good read and quite enlightening. It is helpful to have examples of current events that demonstrate how God uses men today. What a privilege to be used by God to help others.

WOW - Very moving book for Men and small groups

I have been going through this book with my men's small group and it has been great! I have been leading small groups through various different books and studies through the bible for over 10 years and this has been the best study I have found so far. I already ordered another set of books to start another small group in our church. This is a great study to get men on the right track to a relationship with God. Very convicting and inspiring study. The material continues to build each week and compliments what you have already read. Again - WOW

The study book was a great experience in understanding how God has and is able to use man. It really helped me to understand that building my relationship with GOD will only develop my character, which in turn will allow God to use me. Henry and Tom have done a great job through God to help guide others to be more righteous, and this book is a great example on how they have done that.

I highly recommend this book!

This book begins with the truth from I Corinthians 1 which talks about God using the foolish things of the world to shame the wise and the weak things of the world to shame the strong. It discusses the fact that talent, abilities and skills do not impress God, that He will use whomever He decides to use in whatever way He desires. From there the point is made that God is more interested in a man's heart than his giftings. Chapter two devotes a section to listening to God and responding to His call. Faith is involved in accomplishing God's purposes. "God never told men to do something they could do on their own" write the authors (p. 49).
This book reaches the goal of the title as it focuses a reader on the topic of "the man God uses."

This book was the most moving book I have ever read. He was the first and only man to survive being inside a thunderstorm, and he is still alive and well right now. Every time I see a thunderhead of a storm cloud, I think of this book, and how this man could suffer through all of that and still stay alive. I am a 13 year old girl, and reading this book could be the most inspiring expeirience ever. It is an easy book to understand, but fit for all ages. I encourage anyone who loves a good story to read "The Man Who Rode The Thunder".

I read Lt. Col. Rankin's book in the early sixties while learning to fly and have never forgotten the book nor the author's name. I have told numerous fellow pilots about it. Movie producers are overlooking this possibility. Someday, I would like to meet Lt. Col. Rankin.

An unforgettable book!

I read this book (in paperback form) as a young man in the early 1960's. It made a great impression on me. As the years pass, I find myself remembering this amazing true story. Often I'm reminded of this book when I see a thunderhead, or storm system developing. (The only other aviator/writer that has impressed me equally is St. Exupery in his book, "Wind, Sand, and Stars.") Lt. Col. Rankin's book would make a wonderful film - if done with the same care as the classic Jimmy Stewart movie, "The Spirit of St. Louis". With today's special effects, and if filmed with daring and wonder, it would be a great. But read the book first. Its unforgettable!

My name is Wayne Rankin and Lt. Col. Wm. Rankin is my uncle. I grew up with him visiting us and I am very proud of what he accomplished during his career in the Marine Corps. For anyone interested, he is still alive and well and living in California with his wife. His story has inspired me to be what I am today. I have a thirteen year old son and he is now reading all about his great uncle. If anyone is interested and reads this, please feel free to contact me at wcrseattle@comcast.net. Thanks.
