The english translation is not the best, but with it there you can get a little bit of a good idea on what you are saying, that is if you are singing the italian version.
I plan on using this in my concert comming up, and I just thin the arrangement of the "Deh Vieni, Non Tardar" is great. (I love the part of Susanna!) So enough said. If you are an opera company or an opera singer, or even an aspiring opera singer like myself, then you really need this book. Nuff' said.

I bought this book sight unseen for my wife, and am very glad that I did. The author is widely known and respected in Mennonite circles, but this book is written in a non-denominational manner that will make it a wonderful gift for any Christian mother. My wife and I both love this book, and highly recommend it to you.

A effective training tool for Excel tutorsReview Date: 2007-05-25
While I found this book to be fairly complete, I'd still only recommend it as a desk-side reference manual to use along with Microsoft tutorials themselves. While it is a cleverly written book that is not as cumbersome to use as other reference books on the market, it does not address all of the finer points of Excel.
All in all, it's a great reference book, and let's face it, sometimes it's just easier to review a chapter a few times to digest material rather than stare at a computer screen until you become cross-eyed.
All in all, I'd probably give this book a 4.5, but since that's not an option, I'll have to stick with 4 stars.
Review From A Psychology StudentReview Date: 2005-05-16
I found this book extremely suited to my needs...each step was very clear and precise and it was easy to find the chapter or section that was most applicable to what I was working on.
It covered all of the functions of Excel that I have used in my classes thus far. Although my intro. classes had a very brief introduction to the functions I needed, as I progressed into higher level classes and used more and more Excel I found that I needed additional specific instructions for my work. This book was very helpful in that way, and saved me the bother of forever emailing questions to my professor, as I had done before I received the book.
I actually used Excel the most to analyze the significance of data from an experiment that I had designed and to graph the results. This required quite a few steps and it was helpful to have a guide to look at as I went as opposed to trying to guess what came after the basic skills I had previously learned.
I also lent this book to a friend who works in American Ethnic Studies and used Excel to organize and make tables of data for her thesis. The American Ethnic Studies major has no background in science, so was in the position of having absolutely zero knowledge of Excel. However, with this book alone, she was able to complete the Excel portion of there thesis without any additional help.
From a student's point of view, this is a great resource if your field involves any use of Excel.
Great ToolReview Date: 2005-06-21
This hands-on, user friendly book has helped me conquer Excel. The text is readable and well organized. The visuals are clean and fully support the instructions.
I found that you can start from the beginning and teach yourself EXCEL with simple step by step instructions or you can flip straight to your topic of interest and further build your skills. This is a great tool for all levels of expertise.
Great for my usersReview Date: 2004-09-09
This book is also great for new users. I tell them to spend a few hours working through the steps, which are easy to follow and can be done at a fairly fast pace. Most users think the full color layout is fun to work through. The down-side is that like any book, space is limited, especially with the fully-illustrated format, so you're obviously not going to find everything in these books, but I do feel they contain a good balance of material and are appropriate for corporate libraries.
Marty (the concept author for the Quick Steps series) and I are fellow writers and that is how I learned about these books. I must say that they have helped my users enormously and relieved my support task. Hey, it's the 21st century. Anyone working in an office should know how to work with operating systems and common applications. Most people can do that if they have easily accessible references and refresher material like these books. Thanks to Marty for developing the "Quick Steps" concept and to McGraw-Hill for publishing this series.

wonderfully written book!Review Date: 2004-03-18
The story of Gideon Zadok as he hunches down in the desert with the Israeli Army awaiting attack the book is mostly flashbacks through Gideon's life and his family's history. Utilizing a variety of narrative styles and a mix of narrators to give the reader a full perspective of events as they transpire, Uris also is able to flow from one time frame to the next with mastery and grace.
For me, however, the true gem of this book is the character of Gideon Zadok himself; not the most likeable of people (cheats on his wife, is self-centered unabashedly) but for all of his very obvious faults you cannot help but sympathize and identify with him. I love stories where the main character is unlikable yet through the author the story is constructed in such a way that the reader is pulled into the characters world and forced to walk their path along with them, creating a perfect binary between protqagonist and reader.
Uris, as far as I am concerned, is at his absolute best in this book and it is definately worth catching!!!
Mitla Pass- one of the most uncompromising works of UrisReview Date: 2005-06-22
One of the best works of Uris, if not for the historical value of the book- for the sheer joy in discovering Gideon Zadok.
As a book, Exodus and Redemption are my favorites, but if I go by characters, I still wouldn't know if I love or hate Gideon Zadok.

Well written and informative plus a lot of extra detailsReview Date: 2003-02-14
The book has extensive reference notes, a detailed bibliography and an index that list people who were part of Mozart's life during this period. Also included are some interesting sketches of Mozart's apartment and an area map of Vienna where he and Constanze live in during his last year.
What I personally found of interest, resulted from the extra measures that Robbins Landon goes to give added details on some topics (in particular the 3 works mentioned above). Insights as to the sequencing of construction, participation of other people and outside distractions that influenced Mozart's ability to work on and complete these projects. For example: the fact that 5 different types of sheet paper were used by Mozart during the writing of "La Clemenza di Tito" gives clues not only as to the actual chronological order that some of the scenes were composed, but also an idea as to the geographic locales where different parts this opera was conceived. i.e. Prague or Vienna
It seems hard to believe that retrieving accurate material on Mozart's life and music would be difficult, given his fame. You'd just assume that every note (musical or otherwise) that he wrote would have been recorded for the sake of posterity: sadly, such is not the case. Although Mozart was regarded as a brilliant musician during his time he was only recognized for his true genius, posthumously. So, although a lot of the musical scores, letters, writings and conversation have survived, many were lost or went missing over the past 200 years. What a pity!
Well written and informative. This is certainly a book of special interest, but one that goes beyond the superficial discussions of Mozart's life. Recommended!

Bravo!Review Date: 2002-11-17
The references to Haydn and his relationship with Mozart gave me some really new insight into how the two interacted and regarded the other. The research that was involved in this book lends credit to the contents, which were presented in a common sense way. Mr. Robbins has written a book that, I feel, is a "must read" for anyone interested to learn about Mozart's life and circumstance. A lot of rumors were put to rest. I learned a lot I did not know. I learned a lot about people who touched Mozart's life. I like the fact that he gave Constanze the respect she deserves as one who saved Mozart's works for us to enjoy! Great Job!

McBain thanks you, MadamReview Date: 2007-10-16
In this case, a mugger that courteously bows and thanks the women he abuses and victimizes ("Clifford thanks you, Madam.") is terrorizing the city, and the bulls of the 87th doing their best to stop him. The pressure already on them increases when one of Clifford's apparent victims turns up dead.
With Carella on a honeymoon in the Poconos with his new bride Teddy, Willis and Havilland team up to track down the notorious Clifford. They are assisted in the search with the introduction of bald jokester Meyer Meyer, the most patient man in the 87th. Also introduced is female detective Eileen Burke, who goes undercover as Clifford bait in a desperate attempt to trap the mugger.
At the same time, patrolman Bert Kling finds himself stepping out of bounds as he looks into the murder of an old friend's daughter, who just happens to be Clifford's homicide victim. His private investigation threatens to endanger his job, but also puts him in contact with the dead girls beautiful college friend, whom he falls for instantly.
The Mugger is one of McBain's less spectacular stories, by which I mean it is not the crimes themselves that keep you riveted, but the characters involved and the stories they tell. A good portion of the book is taken up by interrogation transcripts, but they give a deeper feeling to the city and its denizens rather than bog it down.
The Mugger is out there, preying on women in the night!Review Date: 2002-12-31
Clifford Thanks YouReview Date: 2004-05-06
A mugger is brutalizing the women of the 87th Precinct, stealing their purse, punching them up, and taking his leave with a dandyesque bow and the immortal words: "Clifford thanks you." The detectives of the 87th have no sense of humor where this sort of thing is concerned, especially when one apparent victim is found lying dead on a riverside embankment.
While the series actually began with "Cop Hater," this second book, published in 1956, is where the series, and its mythical city of Isola, begins to take shape. McBain takes time out to describe the demographics of the 87th, the dance clubs, the stay-at-home wives who rake each other over in their washing-line gossip sessions like so many Mesdames Defarge.
Some nice time-outs, too, like one early on about the essence of urban loneliness. "Loneliness doesn't respect the calendar," he writes. "Saturday, Tuesday, Friday, Thursday - they're all the same, and they're all grey."
Steve Carella, the de facto hero of the 87th series, is away on his honeymoon for this one, and the reins are taken, for maybe the only time in the series, by a patrolman rather than a detective. Bert Kling is still nursing his injury from "Cop Hater" when an old friend pays him a visit, asking him to talk to his sister-in-law. That he does, and when the sister-in-law turns up dead the next day, he finds himself investigating the mysterious circumstances of her life. Why was a beautiful woman so sad, why did she visit a strange dance club and sit zombielike on the sidelines despite the many invitations to dance, why did she turn up a corpse on the other side of the city?
Since Kling is just a beat cop, he is limited in what he can do, but he does manage to meet one woman who may have some answers, particularly for his own lonelyheart condition. Claire Townsend is one of several recurring characters to make her first appearance here, along with Dets. Meyer Meyer and Eileen Burke and two favorites of mine, the clueless Homicide dicks Monoghan and Monroe.
The mystery moves along at McBain's signature pace, with the detectives setting up dragnets and working around the clock. There is plenty of action, and nice detours like with a sunglasses manufacturer who explains the intricacies of his trade, and the difference between "fronts" and "temples." As with so many of his books, McBain makes you feel less like a bookreader and more of an eavesdropper on a world every bit as vibrant and lived-in, if not more so, than your own.
It's a quick read, but if it's your first 87th book, five will get you ten it won't be your last.

This is a great read for economists, and those interested in third world development. Even when development ideas come from the inside out, it proves nearly impossible to implement them without significant cultural adjustment. An enlightening and beautiful story of the interactions of Western and Samoan culture.
Also, a well written and entertaining read.

Possession of Truth through the acquisition of Divine Love.Review Date: 2003-11-21
But the angels explain that there is a great additional blessing inherent in this Love. They emphasize that the true seat of Truth, as with love, both God's and humankind's, is not located in the evanescent and fallible reasoning mind, but in the timeless and unfailing soul. And since the Source of all Truth is God Himself, in order for humankind to share in this, His Truths, if they are to be received at all, must be transmitted from His Soul to our souls. God's Truths are inherent in His Divine Essence, the Life of which is His Divine Love. Therefore, where humankind is concerned, Truth need not be a mere transitory and essentially lifeless and often changing concept of the mind, but, potentially, an eternal Living Force of the soul.
And how do we obtain these highest of God's Living spiritual Truths? We are instructed in but only one way: through repeated prayer for this Love. The more Divine Love that enters and permeates our souls, the greater becomes our understanding and possession of those spiritual Truths inherent in this Love. In this way, the understanding that may begin as a mental knowledge deepens through our souls' growing perceptions and culminates not in an evanescent but rather in an eternal ownership. And, thus, the highest Truths of God may become progressively known and possessed by each soul that seeks at-onement with our Heavenly Father through prayer for the Gift of His Divine Love.
It has been my supreme privilege to have contributed to the present format and edition of these magnificent revelations from the spirit world, authored principally by our brother, Jesus, but also in collaboration with other Celestial spirits who have also found the Way, the Truth and the Love of God. And I would urge all potential readers to enjoy and absorb this book's contents, for within I sincerely believe is the revealed true Way to each soul's possession of the highest fulfillment and greatest happiness attainable in both this world and the next.
I LOVE THIS BOOK ... because ...Review Date: 2003-06-02
I LOVE THIS BOOK ... because it contains many interesting messages, received through automatic writing and signed by the highest of celestial angels including the apostles John and Paul and Luke as well as many others, above all, of course, messages signed by Jesus himself.
I LOVE THIS BOOK ... because, besides telling me alot about Jesus and God`s Love for us, it also includes messages dealing with the questions of how we - as simple human beings - can finally become angels, what`s the use of personal soulful prayer and how spiritual healing works.
I can only recommend this book.
