My Boss Hates this book, but we love it!!!Review Date: 2003-12-04
But beware!!! Especially bosses out there who don't want their employees taking long bathroom breaks. When this book is put into a bathroom, the bathroom suddenly becomes one of the most popular rooms in the place.

You never know what the next page will reveal, it's always a surprise. I also enjoy the bottom of the pages that give you one line info tidbits such as "How can you tell when a kangaroo is nervous? It licks its forearms. Nobody knows why." Interesting! And...."20% of drivers get 80% of the traffic tickets".....and finally "60% of pets in Great Britain have some form of health insurance". Great facts that you'd normally not read elsewhere. This book has 500 pages, lots of reading, and we were surprised it's so interesting. I will definitely buy another edition of this BRI (Bathroom Reader's Institute) Series. Probably great to give as gifts (for fun).
Enjoy and remember like the book says "Go with the flow".

Hard-as-nails hero makes great readingReview Date: 2008-02-11
The Vietnamese reveal that they still hold 22 more American prisoners, to be released only upon the granting of most favored nation status by the US. Slaughter must get them out or die trying.
The pace of the read accelerates as he reports what he's learned to his boss, the Secretary of State - who despite Slaughter's statements seems anxious to deny the possibility of any prisoners remaining alive.
The Department of Defense too, and maybe even the White House, play their own private hands, and everyone Slaughter goes to flatly rejects the possibility that Americans might still be held prisoner.
Slaughter is a hard one, though, completely honest and sincere. With live-in psychiatrist Laura, who once cured him of the nightmares only now beginning to haunt him again, on his side, he's not backing down, no matter what. Slaughter knows the response to his refusal to desist might be terminal, and begins to take precautions. Sure enough, he's fired. Soon, his bank accounts, credit cards, driver's license all disappear. So far as officialdom is concerned, he never existed. Slaughter must hurry. There will be an assassin too. He's out of time.
At this point, the reader is totally immersed in author DeMott's story. What began with difficulty is now a roaring juggernaut. I won't spoil the ending, but men who like hard-as-nails adventure will share my enthusiasm for this work.

The Book To Set Brothers Free!Review Date: 2002-04-30
The principles in this book are amazing. The author tells it like it is, and he doesn't hold back. Man, he is a bold brother. (It is not for the faint at heart!) It is well written, and is a got-to-read for black men and women. Even a lot of our young African-American boys growing up today will get a lot out of it (if they read it). It will prepare them for true manhood as they grow into adult men. It just needs to get into their hands.
This book will change its reader's life. I suggest if you want to change your life, buy it here and read it, because it will make you look honestly at yourself and your life, and will inspire you to change it for the better.
Highly recommend it!

Inspiring Stories to Open Your HeartReview Date: 2005-06-02
Anderson shares thirty-nine stories of human experiences that cannot be explained by ordinary means. There are angels and loved ones who have gone on to their next life who make guest appearances. There are situations where the laws of physics seem to be suspended momentarily. There are medical cures where no hope was given. There are simple instances of coincidence that are too fortuitous to be considered mere happenstance. Yes, there are truly situations where God does intervene, although the reasons for such intervention are His and His alone.
"Where Wonders Prevail" is an amazing read, a page-turner that will keep you moving from story to story. It bears witness to God's presence in our lives, and assures us that, yes, we are being cared for by a power greater than ourselves.

Original and thought provoking Review Date: 2008-05-22
The book is more than a recount of a horrific supernatural experience; it is a thoughtful and interesting teaching on a topic that is strangely absent from many pulpits across the land. I found Dr. Mills explanation of the place referred to as the "Outer Darkness" particularly compelling.
Undoubtedly there will be those that disagree with not only the core premise of the book, but Dr. Mills specific teaching points and experiences. However, the real purpose of the book is to persuade people to not go to Hell, and Dr. Mills vivid descriptions of the underworld and interactions with the lost souls and tormentors therein convey the finality and utter hopelessness of that place. I agree with other reviewers that the book is not appropriate for children.
I recommend this work because it is original, authoritative and thought provoking. It is likely to win souls for Christ. However, I wish the book had a better editor. Dr. Mills is smart and convincing, but a tighter editing process would have cleaned up the minor but annoying gaps and flaws that made it into the final printing.

Great Showcase of Australian Wildlife to Introduce to ChildrenReview Date: 2007-10-21
Originally published in Australia in 1984 this book has more than stood the test of time bringing joy to children throughout time. A basic but good storyline combined with great illustrations means this is going to be a constant request by children to be read to them again and again and again. This book is an excellent book to teach children about the different types of creatures in Australia. Although the book doesn't give information on them the drawings are so well done you can expand from the storyline to point out the platypus' duck like bill, echidna's spines and other fairly unique adaptations particular Australian animals have.
Just in case you're wondering the basic plot of wombat stew is a dingo catches a wombat and boasts to everyone (all types of Australian animals) that he is going to shortly be enjoying gooey, brewy, yummy, chewy, wombat stew. These other animals are friends with the wombat and have a cunning plan to save their friend by giving suggestions of other ingredients to add to the stew. For those parents who now how to play or whose kids are learning a musical instrument the final page has the music score to the Dingo's song so the notes can be followed and played by instruments of some kids and sung along by others.
The constant lack of availability and selling out of Wombat Stew is a good lesson to keep good children's books even when your kids have moved on to older reading level books. In the future if you have more kids, friends have kids, you have grandkids etc they will all be very grateful when you come to visit with this classic. For those who don't yet have a copy rest assured though, there will always be anniversary editions of great Australian classics such as this.
Other great Australian wildlife fiction classics for kids by other authors you should check out are Possum Magic, Olga the Brolga and Edward the Emu.

We read this first when my son was 18 months old; ten years later, it still finds its way out of the bookshelf once in a while. How can such a classic be out of print?

Since then, I have purchased it and read it three, four other times and I keep coming back.
It is vividly detailed and the characters come alive - from Morgan to the Major to Susan.
Well worthwhile find.

It's hard to say what I liked the most about this book. Maybe it's the incredible organization...or the easy-to-read style...or the great quotes from adoptive parents ( called Voices of Experience)...or the sprinkling of great tips throughout.
The bottom line is that I thoroughly enjoyed this guide and give it a big thumbs up!
