This book has all the primary Star Wars spacecraft listed in the book. Our grade school child loves reading this book. This book is true to the DK Readers style, with reading level well identified, and full color photos to keep them excited about reading. On more than once have found our son "secretly" reading this book to himself after lights out!! Makes reading fun when they have fun topic to read about.

STAR PILOTS is actually an inaccurate title for this young readers Star Wars book. The book really doesn't have much to say about pilots, but is all about space craft flown in the Star Wars universe. While there are a few non-space vehicles described, e.g. podracers, most of the book is dedicated to famous Star Wars vehicles. X-Wings, TIE Fighters, the Millenium Falcon, the Executor, Slave 1, and the Invisible Hand are all mentioned as well as escape pods and Republican gunships. The book is filled with pictures from the movies, which makes it attractive for young readers. Though this is a level 3 book, many of the words seem more difficult than that too me. However, the books chronological order makes it easier to make sense of it all. Overall, this is a great book for young Star Wars fans.

a tour of the great flying vehicles

Review Date: 2005-06-03
"Star Pilot" is a tour of Star Wars' great flying vehicles. The title isn't entirely accurate since the focus isn't actually on pilots, but rather the machines. Beyond this, the scope is broader than space ships alone as the book includes pod racers and republic gunships. The scope includes the entire saga, starting with the droid control ship seen in the first minute of the "Phantom Menace" and ending with the Super Star Destroyer, seen in Episode six's final battle. The chronological order makes the book comfortable to follow. While the text is large, the vocabulary is much higher than the self-described level 3. The illustrations are large, high-quality and extracted from the films. While not comprehensive by any means, "Star Pilot" is an enjoyable tour of the most important vehicles of the Star Wars saga.

I've been a trekkie every since I was 12 years old. And lots of Star Trek Books + Souvenirs & when I saw this item I thought it was really neat. If you are a trekkie just like me you will like these post cards. Enjoy all 30 of them. ("Live Long And Prospser".)or as Captain Kirk or Picard Say At The End Of The Closing Marks. "To Boldly Go Where No One Has Gone Before."

top-notch postcard box

This set of postcards is excellent. The pictures are all great and well-varied, and all of them have excellent image quality. I was somewhat afraid that the images would be grainy from being taken from old film, but this wasn't really the case. Some of the pictures also have captions taken from the show, and they're generally quite funny. Humor and kitsch really make the primary theme of this set of postcards.

The backs of the postcards also have a good design with a gray outline of the enterprise set on a grid of gray lines (which also help to keep your writing straight). I don't know why, but the "Search Inside" feature doesn't show this. It shows the back of a rectangular card, but it's blank--not the same as what is actually on the backs of the cards in the box. Overall, this is easily one of the best postcard boxes I've seen in a long time.

I have a friend thats as much a Star Trek fan as I am, and oddly enough, isn't very computer savy. She writes letters! Real 'stick a stamp on an envelop and put it in the snail mail' type letters! She's been wanting some Trek stationary and we have a hard time finding that... especially these days. Well, when I spotted the Trek Postcards, I snatched up a box for her. She was thrilled! I even got a thank you letter from her.. on the Trek Postcard. I couldn't have found a better birthday gift for her. Thank you for making them available.

I would suggest to the ST reader that they get past the first two chapters of this book, where DM is forced to outline the past, and then bring some "love" scenes into the book. After the obligatory ties to IMZADI and TITAN, the book gets good; not great, but a book worth buying if you are a ST fan and keep up with the series. Just keep reading, it gets interesting soon.

I would buy this book again. It's a good read, and I hope they allow DM to keep going on ST books.

Gods of Night follows four captains and their crew: Jean-Luc Picard of the USS Enterprise, William Riker of the USS Titan, Ezri Dax of the USS Aventine, and Erika Hernandez of the Columbia NX-02. In the year 2381, the Borg have waged war on the Federation. And this time, their goal is not assimilation but annihilation. Meanwhile, the USS Aventine is investigating a centuries-old mystery - the Columbia NX-02 went missing in 2156 and has been discovered, seemingly abandoned on a remote, uninhabited world.

With flashbacks between the various ships, not to mention centuries, readers must pay attention or find themselves easily confused. But to help with the large number of main characters, there is a handy appendix in the back of the book, which lists the different crew members of each ship, as well as their species.

Every story that involves the Borg has been suspenseful and intense, and this one is no exception. Everything that the Federation knows about the Borg is now irrelevant. For reasons unbeknownst to anyone outside the collective, the Borg have changed their entire directive as well as other facets which had at least made them somewhat predictable. And Captain Picard's reaction to the Borg invasion is equally as unpredictable, reminiscent of the movie First Contact. With the main cast of The Next Generation, save Data (see Nemesis), either on the Enterprise or Titan, the crew retains their same great qualities and personalities that made them a personal favorite.

Gods of Night contains everything great about Star Trek - advanced technology, intrigue, drama, relationships, danger, action, mystery, aliens, time travel, and blowing stuff up. Ending in a mild cliffhanger, readers will want to pick up the next, Mere Mortals, as soon as possible. With an exciting story, wonderful characters, and insurmountable odds to overcome, this is a trilogy no Trek fan will want to miss.

It was nice to see various crews & characters back, and this outing felt more "in-character" than several of the past few years' have been. Ezri is growing into Captain-hood well. My heart broke for Riker & Troi.

Although given the amount of stories out there, if one hasn't been keeping up with all of them, it was easy to go "when did that happen" (i.e., Picard & Crusher's development).

The "enemy" was nicely written in that they aren't really an "enemy" so much as an adversary. And how they tie into the new Borg offensive, as well as WHY the Borg have changed their tactics/purpose I look forward to reading.

When I first heard this trilogy was going to deal with the Federation and the Borg I was disappointed as I am tired of the Borg. I did have faith in David Macks writing though. As usual he has a has a winner on his hands. This is a must buy must read book. This is a book that for me was impossible to put down and I read all 400 plus pages in one sitting. Destiny book one starts a trilogy that will shake up the Trek universe. We get a good look at Ezi Dax as a starship captain in this novel. I like what I have seen, someone who has grown since DS9 and is confident and in command. We also see Picard's, Riker's and Hernandez's crews. The 4 crews in this book are well drawn and the action is continuous. I liked the brief parts of the book dealing with the Klingons deciding to come to the aid of the Federation after a Borg attempt to destroy Kitomer. This story is engaging and the story leaves one with many questions and speculations. I enjoyed the way that Mack weaves the story line of 3 of the crews. My only problem with the book is the ongoing Troi/Riker relationship problems. I have never liked the way this has been portrayed and still dont. That said I think Mack handled it in a reasonable way. I think there is more to this situation than it appears on the surface. Mack has a way of doing that. I do hope it is resolved by the end of the trilogy. I can hardly wait to see how the situation with the Borg resolves.

This is a beautiful little book. I enjoyed reading Ms. Rubin's text just as much as the photos. It reads more like a novel than a bio. including little known facts and personal interviews of his family and friends. She makes a point to illustrate the early influences of Steven's family and school life that later became themes for his movies. It is a very intimate look into Speilburg's personal and professional journey. Ms. Rubin has included many formerly unpublished photos. It all adds up to a wonderful read and certainly a lovely addition to your library, especially if you are a fan of Spielberg's work.

This is a pretty good decent sized book about both Spielberg's life growing up and his most successful movies such as Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, ET, Jurrasic Park and Saving Private Ryan to name a few. There are some great colour photographs from the movies along with a lot of information. If you like the films he has done or are interested in his life then this would have to be one of the best books out there on that subject.

A Beautiful Quality Book.

The book is astonishing as I would have love to meet him in person. I have been always fascinated with Spielbergs movies and he has shown me great courage and great technical skills in which he is my number one idol because the movies such as ET and CE32 taught me how to film when I was 6 yrs old. So I could only wish to see him someday.

Thank you

Emma Toll believes that her new neighbors are vampires. Of course, nobody believes her. Emma starts to think her theory isn't true, since it seems far fetched even to her. But her theory isn't far fetched at all...it's true. I really loved this book. It always kept you on the edge of your seat, wanting to know what the vampires will do next. One of the reasons I liked this book is because even though I can't see episodes of Are You Afraid Of The Dark? anymore, I can read the books based on the episodes which is just as good. If you liked this book, I suggest reading Goodnight Kiss and Goodnight Kiss 2 by R.L. Stine.
