Great book with great ideas. Try the ricotta pancakes. I really like the "night before" preparation ideas- get the work over with the night before and have more fun in the morning!

Buddhism A To Z is an enlightening, 284-page handbook structured in dictionary-like, alphabetical format, and enhanced with 46 full color illustrations. Each entry presents the topic's name in both English and Chinese, and refers to a concept, figure, practice, or other matters related to Buddhism, succinctly defined and conceptualized for readers of all backgrounds. A highly recommended introductory reference, Buddhism From A To Z is a "user friendly" and recommended addition to personal and academic Buddhist Studies reference collections.

This was a terrific book. It was full of information. Great for any one who wants to learn how to build a computer from scratch.

In the teacher's manual to our Business Associations case book, my friend, colleague and coauthor Bill Klein posits that "any lawyer who advises people entering into a business venture and who fails to urge the adoption of a buy sell agreement is guilty of malpractice." Z. Christopher Mercer's new book Buy-Sell Agreements: Ticking Time Bombs or Reasonable Resolutions offers a tremendously useful guide to these remarkably important contracts. In it, he provides guidance for business people and their financial advisors to use in assessing the need for a buy-sell agreement and, if one is appropriate, deciding on key terms. It will also be very useful to counsel drafting buy-sell provisions, as it offers drafting checklists and samples of how various issues can be treated. I recommend it very highly.

I have not read all of this book and to be frank some of it is beyond my ability, but quite a lot of it is not. In any case this is not the type of book that you pick up and read in one sitting.

The book presents a unifying theory that covers a great many phenomena in mathematics and science. The basic concept is deceptively simple: transform a problem, solve the transformed problem and then reverse transform it. One elementary example is to mulitiply two numbers by adding their logarithms. A second is to communicate across a long distance by tranforming voice into electrical current.

This simple idea has wide applicability. Most of the book presents examples from a wide range of fields. They will make you look at things in a different light. Bypasses deserves a wider audience.

This book is computationally obsolete (the first edition was written before the advent of computer algebra systems like Mathematica, Maple and Matlab, thus is based on Fortran) but it stands head and shoulders above all recent and not-so-recent calculus books; to find its peers, one would have to go back to classics such as Courant's Differential and Integral Calculus.

The choice of topics is impeccable (and very different from most calculus books). Applications and numerics are never out of sight (not a surprise given Lax's standing as an applied mathematician).

It is sad comment on the teaching of calculus in this country that this book is out of print; it (or its updated editions) should be in use everywhere.

Midwest detective Albert Samson, who is full of witty comments, slides into apparent crass materialism when he stages a mystery murder for a wealthy woman's guests.

Back at his office, a group of disguised women, who plant disconnected bombs for environmentalist publicity, pay him to locate a stolen bomb. No one wants anyone hurt, and Samson, not particularly macho, hates confrontation, so the plot proceeds with lots of humor.

This was a witty, sarcastic & very funny mystery. Quite enjoyable & I'd like to read more of this author's books.

This book remains a good 'Who', 'What', 'When', 'How' and 'Where' reference to have, when studying the Caribbean region (including the South American Atlantic countries).

I'm fortunate to have been a student in two of Al Casey's courses at Southern Methodist University, so remember-- I'm biased!

Al provides a refreshing view on business because of his diverse experience; within any single position someone could have built a career-- whether it's CEO of American, Times Mirror, Postmaster General, head of Resolution Trust, etc...

I'll warn you: don't buy this book if you are looking for tips on how to play dirty in business-- Casey believes that good principles mean good business. Few can say that and be credible. The collections of maxims and career advice, found at the end of the book, is itself reason enough to purchase this book. I've read the book twice. Here's a sampling:

*Never do or say anything that you wouldn't want to read in tomorrow's paper.

*Be confident, even when the odds seem stacked against you. Especially when the odds seem stacked against you.

*Hire talented people; hopefully, one of them will be your successor.

*Play fair. Too many people forget the first word, and often the second.

*Never slam a door so hard that you can't open it again.

*The harder you work, the luckier you get.

*Always question people, starting with yourself.

*Leadership lasts only as long as it's exercised.

*Meet weekly as a group with all who report to you; meet one-on-one each week as well.

*Balance out social situations; if you invite one key staff member to your home, invite them all.

*When all else fails, get down on your knees. Amen.
