This book is essential for any woman diagnosed with breast cancer. On April 1, I received the news, I had breast cancer. In a matter of a few days, I needed to choose between a lumpectomy with radiation or a masectomy. The surgeon also talked about possible need for chemotherpy. It was overwhemling. A co-worker, diagnosesd with breast cancer four months preciously, handed me this book and told me to go home and read it before I made any decisions or saw my surgeon. The book takes only 2 to 3 hours to read and provided emought information for me to have a rational conversations about the choices with my surgeon and oncologist and to make the tough decision.

I friend of my was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. As soon as I read the news, I order this book and gave her the same advise. I also asked her to buy this book for any friend of hers diagnosed with breast cancer. My friend read the book and thanked me over and over again for the gift.

I have sent this book to numerous friends and associates affected with this disease. All found the book to be a helpful guide that they used to document doctor findings and their recommendations. This workbook with detailed instructions on how you can be the best advocate for your health. It helps women diagnosed with breast cancer to think as clearly as possible about the medical issues associated with their situation so they can make informed decisions about treatments

"I think the book is terrific! When you're first diagnosed, you're in a state of shock. There are so many books out there, but many are too large, too technical. This book is concise. It has a sensible, relaxed way of dealing with the topic."

The Internet for Busy People, Second Edition is now available! It's similar to the first edition but with more pages, more examples, more illustrations, and all of the latest technology. (I helped Christian put the second edition together, so I know first-hand how complete this book is...)

Fun light hearted look at Cyber space, right to the point.

Christian Crumlish doesn't waste your time explaining every little insignifcant detail about the Internet. Instead he gets right to the heart of the basics. Tailored for the home dial-up user or the busy executive this book is easy to read, informal, and sometimes irreverent but never boring. If you don't want to waste time this book is perfect. Are you the only dinosaur left who hasn't been on the Web yet? Or maybe you're sick and tired of people raving about the Internet while you sit and nod knowingly, but without the slightest clue what they are ranting about. If you have decided it's time to surf before you get alienated, but only have coffee breaks and short lunches to learn how to surf the Web, The Internet for Busy People can give you a crash course in surfing lingo. The best way to learn how to surf is to dive in and get immersed in interfacing with the new environment. The Internet for Busy People does exactly that by using rich colourful pages that give you great screen shots of what you will see while browsing the Internet. As most individuals are more receptive to graphics inclined than text, the book's familiar and myriad screen shots shortens the learning curve, much like a computer flight simulation assists a pilot in flight training. Besides great screen shots, call-out diagrams that point out how to fill out a web page form help overcome the form-filling paranoia that many of us have. For instance, what should you put in the domain box and, for that matter, what the heck is TCP/IP or SMTP Besides helping you overcome such nightmares, The Internet for Busy People does a great job in easing the rookie surfer into Netspeak and the lingo of the Internet surfer. As you get more proficient with simple e-mail protocol, Crumlish grooms you for bigger and better things on the Internet like File Transfer Protocol (FTP) and researching using Gopher to access remote libraries. But my favourite aspect of The Internet for Busy People is the expert dialogue box that peppers the book with wise words from the pros. In so doing, Crumlish actually treats you like an intelligent, albeit busy person that doesn't need to be coddled with simplistic information. Even for a seasoned surfer, I picked up some new tricks and got some questions answered from the expert advice dialogue boxes. I've always found that writing style and tone of voice in any computer publication is the make-or-break factor in my enjoyment of a book. It's easy to accumulate knowledge, but to share it in a non-condescending manner that doesn't put the reader off. Crumlish makes reading The Internet for Busy People like hearing from a friend enthusiastic about teaching you the ways of the Web. The Internet for busy People is surprisingly affordable considering that every page is chock-full of colour graphics and illustrations. Basically, it's like browsing the Internet before you actually go on-line - a dry run, so to speak.

This book was introduced to me at my workplace as my team was being formed. Not only has it made me aware of the elephants that are lurking, but I believe it helped prevent others from making it through the door.

The book is written in such a way that everyone in business can relate - bosses, assistants, employees, managers - everyone! I love how the author addresses serious issues in a humourous way. It is almost like she has been right next door to me for years!

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for insight and solutions to their business' elephants!

I think that this book is very applicable to real life work situations. After reading the scenarios, I could recall similar experiences that I encountered at work. This book helped me to see those situations from my boss's perspective. It also helped me to understand how to respond more successfully when I encounter such situations in the future. I think that Margaret must have been hiding in our office -- she knows what really goes on in the workplace!

Is There An Elephant In The Copy Room? is a wonderful look at life in the workplace. It is written in a simple to read and easy to relate to format. With each senario that I read I found myself thinking "I've been through that" or "I know that person". This book offers great insight as to what all parties are thinking in certain situations and also provides reasonable solutions to the challenges we face in the workplace. As a person who has been in top management and dealt with a number of personnel issues and someone that is currently in the job market I found the different perspectives very enlightening. I highly recommend this book.

The Kidnapped King is a very good book. This book is mostly about a boy named Dink looking for the King , Queen and the Prince of Socotra because they are friends. The royal family were being held prisoner in the hotel by Joan Klinker because the king's enemies wanted to take over the country. This book is a mystery book. My favorite part is when Dink looks for Sammi ( the Prince ) when I got to this part I didn't want to put the book down. Dink is brave, smart and an ordinary boy.

Fun Installment in a Solid Series

A new kid on the block (staying in Dink's house!), a little action (a kidnap!), a little language lesson (French!), and a lot of teamwork (involving both children, parents, and authority figures) leads to another intriguing tale and a happy ending. Ron Roy's A-To-Z-Mysteries have proven quite successful in our household. I've now read all eleven installments to my four-year-old son, and he has found them immensely entertaining. Similarly, our best friend's daughter, an advanced elementary school reader, promptly consumed these books and deemed them enjoyable. Sure, like most of the chapter book series for little people, the plots tend to be marginally predictable -- conversely, these books weren't written for the parents (and the children seem to find the mysteries sufficiently compelling). I also find that, at a certain level, the fact that the characters in these mysteries are (reasonably) normal children confronting seemingly pedestrian criminals is a welcome break from my son's fascination with the preternatural and his preference for the less realistic (but highly entertaining) series such as the Secrets of Droon, Bailey School Kids, and the Magic Tree House. Also, unlike many of the series books, it does not seem critical to read the books in order (although we do). It's also nice that the protagonists -- Dink, Ruth Rose, and Josh -- play well together, think through difficult problems, exhibit good manners and, for the most part, display the type of vocabulary you won't mind if your children repeat.

This is a book about three friends who solve mysteries. In this book the three friends will rescue three rich people who are the King, Queen, and Prince.

Now I will tell you about the story. These friends names are Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose. These friends have solved many mysteries and saved many people from going to prison.

This author entertained my feelings. People write comments on his books because they like them. The mysteries he writes are very good.

The illustrator is also very good at drawing. He draws exactly what the author writes. The drawing looks really real.

I recommend this book because it is a very good mystery to read at night. I like the way he makes the kids find clues.

I was a fairly big Lucy fan but hadn't bought many books about her, mostly those about her show, I Love Lucy. But when I found this book, the idea of an encyclopedia intrigued me, and I figured there'd be lots of stuff about I Love Lucy, in any case. There sure is, and there's a lot more, on every aspect of Lucy's career, arranged alphabetically. The pictures are great and everything is super easy to find. The writing is both breezy and insightful; the author's obviously a big fan, but he knows his stuff. A lot of research must have gone into this. As someone else on the page says, if you need any `splainin' about anything in Lucy's life or career, it's here.

For my money, the best book on Lucille Ball Out There!

Everything you could ever want to know about Lucy...in one place! I bought a copy of the second edition a few years ago and liked it very much, but I was disappointed that there were no pictures inside. Well, the author has taken care of that in this new fourth edition, and then some! There are lots of pictures, many of which I haven't seen before. The cover photo alone is a real knockout! Not only that, but the book size is bigger and there are many more new entries. It looks like it has been totally redesigned. And if you ever needed to find out anything about Lucy, it's an encyclopedia format, so just look alphabetically (there's also a huge index). I love Lucy, and I love this book! Highly recommended.

What a great Occult Tresure!

This book is a great occult treasure of traditional witchcraft information. This book is very helpful and can help you identify items that can be used as "magic charms" that may be laying around your home that you can empower through a ritual or make yourself. This book basically goes through many charms in an A to Z order.

At the end of the book you find some great and valuable information that is very excellent!!! The book gives you three different traditional ways to bless and empower your charm that you have chosen or put together. This is great information.

It also ends with some other good tid bits, tables and occult information.

I highly recommend any book by this publisher!

My Editing "Bible"

Quick: What does CSOP stand for? You may know if you are a cardiologist, but you may NOT have the definition readily at hand if you are a medical editor of books and journals like me. No problem. All one has to do is quickly thumb through the easy-to-read "C's", and voila!! Page 146: CSOP: coronary sinus occlusion pressure.

This book lives on my desk and is simply indispensable. The eponym section, again done alphabetically, is a godsend. Case in point: What is the difference between Frank's operation and Franke's operation? Does it matter? Totally. Is Frenkel's syndrome spelled with an apostrophe or not? Again, this book has the answer.

Such trivia may seem inconsequential, but for those for whom medical terminology is a livelihood, it is far from trivial. It is essential. As is this book, a true tour de force in the medical genre.

It is the most thorough book I have come across for medical abbreviations, and I have an extensive reference library. The eponym section is not the best I've seen, but overall, this book is a must-have! It's a major time saver!

I've found the 30-minute body relaxation exercise to be a great stress relief on my way to work or when lying in bed. Having listened to the CD regularly for the past few weeks, I am finding that it is making a profound difference in my ability to relax. I am so happy to discover that the "relaxation response", the brain's response to quiet meditation, is real, and actually reverses the effects of stress. It's making a bigger difference than I would have imagined. Having experienced increasing stress over the past year, I am so grateful and relieved to find something that helps. Many thanks to the author for her peaceful voice and healing images.

I highly recommend this audio tape to people who are trying to incorporate meditation into their lives. Dr. Borysenko has a very soothing voice and the exercises are effective. I think this tape may be especially appealing to women; there is some content that I know some men may find corny. However, I found the both the breathing exercises and the stretching to be relaxing and very beneficial.

One of the most helpful items I've ever purchased.

Aptly titled "fact file," this is an extraordinary resource for quick and handy information on GLASS in practically every category one might wish to explore (manufacturers, methods and techniques, types and designs, marks and signatures, etc.) Arranged alphabetically (with helpful cross-references), the author has assembled a massive amount of material -- over 6,000 entries! -- covering all aspects of glass world-wide, from the 1800s to the most recent productions. Precise, concise, accurate, and happily affordable, this comprehensive volume is destined to be an indispensable reference source for all students and serious collectors of glass.
