The book is not all out action, with super heroes running around fighting the super villans. This book goes more into what living life as mutant is like. the hatered, the mistrust, the anger, it's all here. though the action is lacking, the story is interesting through and through.

The story line and the artwork are superb. Kitty Pryde has been and will always be the heart of the X-Men. This series is great both in terms of growth on her part as a character and the storyline itself is very interesting. If you like the character you'll like this series.

I am not an avid player of games on the computer and certainly not action games like the one associated with this book (but I do love the Star Wars movies). My son left this book on the floor in the living room and out of curiosity I opened it. It was delightful! The middle section of the book is filled with adorable and humorous stories told by an R2D2 robot. Wonderful! The more technical sections of the book relate to the game itself and became very useful once I tried playing the game. When a book gets me to play a game with my son on the computer it says a lot. Thank you Mr. Drake and Mr. Barnett for the chuckles! (My son thanks you, too.)

I won't repeat what other reviewers have already said. Basically, I'm in complete agreement with them. The story line is great, the hints are helpful, and the included CD with films of the missions is tremendous. I really wanted to give it 5 stars, but it omitted a few things I felt were invaluable based on the "Tie Fighter" hint book that came before. First, there was no listing of all of the possible ranks, and the point scores needed to achieve them, nor was there a listing of the possible skill levels (novice, veteran, ace, etc.) and the points necessary for those. It did not document the scoring mechanism - the bonus points earned by playing at the hard level, and the penalty for playing at the easy level. Secondly, it did not reveal the bonus goals, and point values, for those missions that offered them. Lastly, and I state this with reservation because the authors simply may not have had access to the information, there was no detail of the AI instructions that described how the computer-generated opponents would function in each mission. These instructions allowed the player to know what conditions would trigger a new type of craft appearing, or how many waves of enemy craft would be created. This information was extraordinarily helpful for winning the most difficult missions in "Tie Fighter". In its defense, however, the book did go into a lot of detail about how to set up single and multi-player skirmishes. All in all, an excellent guide, but it fell just short of being perfect.

The images of the Sudan and Antarctica contained in 12º N x 23º E, 64º S x 60º E : Sudan, Antarctica by Colin Finlay and Marta Salas-Porras are powerful testimony to the silent changes and unheard tragedy occurring on the planet today. They link immediate human suffering with the hidden environmental impacts of global warming. This important photo essay can help catalyze effective responses to the human condition and global climate change. Silence is no longer a choice.

THE BEST BOOK EVER (NOTHINGS BETTER)

Can you imagine feeling what 50 cent (the rapper) felt when he got shot nine times, his struggles, and what he had to go trough just to be where he is today?
This is an autobiography about Curtis 50 cent Jackson's life, childhood, struggles, and what he had to do to get where he is today. He explained in great detail of his childhood and why he sold drugs and what he had to do because he sold drugs (he went to rehab). He sold drugs because he said that he never had the things that most young kids have today including: sneakers, cool shirts and other clothing, so he just wanted to have those things. He explained how it felt when his grandmother caught him selling drugs. He said that he blamed his grandparents because if he didn't have to hide it from them, his school wouldn't have found it in his sneakers. He also explained what happened the day that he got shot, and how the guy waited for 50 cent to get out of his house.
Even though 50 cent is a rapper I never know that he could write such a good book like this, he explained everything that happened to him in great detail. There was one passage in the book where he talks about himself going to rehab. He said that he had never did crack, but he said that he handled, cooked, and sold it so much that he came up positive when they tested him. He told about his time in rehab and how he thought it was funny (not haha funny) how a guy was in there for doing the same drugs 50 cent sold to people.
I would like to share an insert from the book, where 50 cent explains how he got shot. He puts you in his mind of what was going on and how he felt, and that what I like about his style of writing.
"Suddenly this guy runs up on our car and starts unloading like BANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm splayed out all over the back seat of the car, but since I'd grabbed my gun I threw my hand up and stared shooting back out the window. He starts to back up and tacks two more shots. One of them goes through my hand."

I read the whole Death of Superman saga when it was originally published in the early 90's. I was completely hook with the storyline. But my favorite always has been Funeral for a Friend aka A World Without Superman. The story begins immediately after Superman's death at the hands of Doomsday in Superman 75. In this arc Superman is obviouly absent. He is only seen in action as flashbacks or part of peoples dreams and/or memories. So the story focus in Superman's supporting cast, mainly Lois Lane, and the Kents specially Pa Kent who cannot accept the fact that his son is gone. The story tells how they deal with their everyday problems without him, and the emotional aspect of the characters that mourns the death of their friend. This is a very touching story that you never will get bored of.

It was like the first time I opened my eyes and looked out on the world. It was more than reading a book. It was like finding a new system of beliefs, a whole new way of seeing and being in the world. Sam Truitt is not just a great poet, he is a great man, a leader and a true gift to God's Earth.

Sam Truitt is one of the few American poets willing to go for "the big statement" and who at the same time is able to sound completely himself (i.e. not pretentious) doing it. His range mixes the sublime and the silly in ways that honor both. His form circles back around, accreting the reader's sense that this is Ye Olde Vatic Utterance, and yet feels utterly contemporary -- always keeping the reader's head up for the next thing. Delirious stuff.

Great Bible study for women

Review Date: 2008-03-02
This book was used by a group of 11 college age women as a Bible study. One primary goal of the study was to spend time in God's Word and learn how to go deeper in our relationship with the Lord in applying scriptural principles to our lives and our relationships with others. This is the second Cynthia Heald study book we have used, with very positive feedback from the women involved in the study. It has generated great discussion, bringing relevant life issues under scrutiny as to how we live and incorporate our faith in a genuine way with our behavior and thought patterns.
There are rich quotes from men and women of the Christian faith and the study questions go deep into scripture, challenging the participants to spend quality time in His Word as we seek to know His will and desire for how we are to live our lives.

Becoming a Woman of Freedom is a great growing tool for chronic worriers. Not only is the topic of worry addressed (along with many other things) the book constatnly takes the reader back to God's Word, to see what He has to say about the subject.
The book is an easy to read, thought provoking study and addresses those things that slow us down or hinder us as we "run the race" of the Christian life.
Always, in this book, there is a focus on Christ and how He lived His life. What a great example to follow!
The format is flexible in that each study can be used individually, or in a group.
Becoming a Woman of Freedom was a birthday present from my husband and is one of the best he could have gotten. Working through this study has uplifted, encouraged and challenged me. God has worked greatly through this book to help me grow in Him!
Hallelujah!

This is a wonderful story. Happy Sigh ...I Love this series and the two main characters. In Awakenings, the first novel of the I Found My Heart in San Francisco series, we met Ryan O'Flaherty and Jamie Evans, juniors at the University of California at Berkeley.
The two main characters, Jamie and Ryan, are as endearing as they were in the first book (I just can't get enough of them). The author explores them thoroughly so that the reader gets to know them well.
This novel is a substantial read to be savoured. Oh My Goodness, this was fun reading.
I was completely delighted to see this novel in print. Excellent writing, perfectly paced plot, lovable characters. I was riveted to every page and didn't want to put the book down. I always hold off opening this author's novels until first thing Saturday morning so I can read as much as possible in the next 48 hours.
Along with the great plot the humor is laugh out loud funny. The author, who I thought was perfection in her other novels, All That Matters, Cherry Grove and Arbor Vitea just keeps surprising me with one hit novel after another.
I am already clamoring for the next novel in this series. I must mention that the quality of the book itself is outstanding from the paper, to the cover to the printing. Terrific cover!
This is a Keeper!
Don't miss the other novels in this great series:
Awakenings
Beginnings
Coalescence

Ryan and Jamie are introduced in Awakenings, the first book in the I Found My Heart in San Francisco series. I'd suggest reading Book 1 to fully appreciate this couple and their love story but it isn't a requirement. Susan tackles the feelings and anxieties of coming out that every lesbian faces no matter what age she is. Plus she writes a sweet, funny and sexy love story that is appealing to any lover of romance. Buy this one - you won't be disappointed.

Of all the anthologies of my great-grandfather's work, this is the best. It contains the classic "Problem of Cell 13" as well as some more experimental stories. The introduction is also nicely written to provide context for this little-known author.

I decided to look this title up from memories of reading three short stories as a young adult. One of the interesting notes in the book was that the author was among those who did not survive the *Titantic* disaster. The stories are in line with Sherlock Holmes, only slightly updated...one involved a wonderful prison break that would make ANYone think. It's definately worth reading if you can find it. It's a shame the author had his career cut short or he would have been more well known.

A global look at how individuals impact each other.

My father gave me a copy oth this book about six year ago. I was captivated by the way individuals around the world had a positive impact on each other. i am thinking of the young priest who was gravely injured, but found that he could connect to others through praying for them. The work of Mother Theresas sisters, the scientists studying AIDS, it was truly a human mosaic. The intertwining of people who may never have met! Truly, "No man is an island."
Breathtaking...even after all these years.

I must have read this book 4-5 years ago. And it left such an impression that after all these years...I realise that I have to reread the book and write this review. For everyone who have read ths review, my advice is to read the book, I will not give away the suspense. But the interactions of the characters, the emotions protrayed and the reality of it all will definitely strike a chord in everybody's hearts. For once, I am so disappointed that the book is out of print, because, it should be shared by all readers young and old. It not only opens your mind, it makes you see things in a perspective you never knew existed.

the first short story shows kitty at college studying nuclear engineering while working as a bartender at night. having turned her back on the superhero life, kitty tries to find meaning in her father's death (he died on genosha). the story is nicely continued in the mekanix series which has kitty seeing a psychiatrist and standing up against an anti-mutant group on campus. the series begins with a huge explosion in her lab, while the rest of the series concentrates on the return of cassandra nova's modern day sentinel robots from south america who, as a nice twist, are machines who can evolve and thus are pretty much unbeatable. xian (aka karma) makes her reappearance early on and it's great to see the two of them kicking ass, along with a new mutant w/ TK. a bit too much of the same anti-mutant stuff, but lots of good old-fashioned claremont action.
