As one who squeeked through algebra 1 many years ago and shudder whenever I think of the subject, I was very amazed and edified to learn of the analogy between my God and this dreaded subject matter. The author illustrated equations to receiving miracles eloquently, yet in a way simple to understand! Having been healed from stage 3-plus breast cancer and having my husband delivered from crack cocaine addiction ( both over 10 years ago), I KNOW this is a divine formula that will enable anyone who uses it to overcome whatever obstacles you encounter in life.

I have read many books by theologians, positive motivation books and even business books all talking about how I could improve myself. God-gebra 101 provided the insight I needed to take my walk with God to another level. The authors testimonies and biblical references were spot on and spoke directly to me. Chapter 6 was by far my favortite as it answered any questions about what God can and will do in my life when I totally submit.
I highly recommend this book to you and anyone else you can bless with it.

God-gebra 101 is an exciting account of what God does when life doesn't add up! Reading this book brought to life, once again, the facts that lie behind miracles. Story after astounding story, the author recaps how God answered real cries of faith. It renewed my resolve that God's logical answer to tough situations defies man's reason. The book is well written, exciting, and captivating. Read it!

Godschild Covenant
Godschild Covenant, written by Marshall Masters, is a very unique, poetic and uplifting book. In it, Mr. Masters shows great insight into the immense strength of the human spirit, insight which many people alive now have been unable to notice, whether it be because of their busy lifestyle or their aspirations toward a specific goal.
From beginning to end, Godschild Covenant demonstrated moving, poetic tenderness. While restricted by circumstances, the story of the sexual love between Anthony and Tanya was shown to be heart wrenching and full of the emotional beauty of a love between two soul mates.
This unique book is futuristic, yet full of truth. It uplifts the reader from the normal, mundane, everyday existence to a place that all of humanity will eventually reach. Ahead of his time, Marshall Masters is giving humanity a message, a prediction, which will soon come to pass. Meanwhile, Marshall, with his mastery of imagination and narrative skill, leads the reader through entertainment to the truth of a realistic, yet hopeful land, the land of the Godschild Covenant.
This story surpasses all other novels and works of fiction.
It is an immensely rewarding journey; it is so inspiring, so enticing that it makes one want to reach the last word of the book, while still feeling sorry for the fact that the book is drawing to an end.

Godschild Covenant, the return of Nibiru, presents the reader with a rip-roaring good read combining the best of several genres. Classification is difficult as it's as much a science fiction novel as well as an adventure novel. Combining the two genres as well as including several aspects of new age spiritualism and being able to hold the whole thing together would seem rather difficult in perspective. Marshall Masters has managed to do it all. From factual technical aspects to fine points in descriptive narration the author manages to do a top job. Recommended for all ages this is a fine debut novel.

I wish to add one more statement to an earlier review of Godschild Covenant.

Marshall's insight from Godschild Convenant that described the 3-Gorges Virus shows exactly what is happening in China - the spreading of SARS. According to the Indian News, China has created this virus from its Bio-weapons lab. This is another of Marshall's phrophetic warning from his book.

Whoa, finished reading it last night, and can't yet bear to loan it to anyone. The book itself is alive, with ooh, such rich rich language, such a dedicated finely crafted narrative down to the last line. Want to re-read and quote passages. The humming vital poetic deep ironic language of Jamaican is such a vital tonic to the world's brew of what we must know. And I too, found this book, dusty, in an eccentric venue, while having a conversaion about Perry Henzell (who made the movie.) Aha! Synchronous grace. And thought "hmm..what's this?" I'd just read Perry Henzell's "Power Game", which was pretty cool. But this is a masterpiece. (It would be wildly amusingly great if it were required reading for anyone travelling to Jamaica. Just so you know wha's up. Look and feel deeply into things.)
May the reader like Sidney in the book: "Praises to Jah, Pedro exulted silently. Sidney fin' 'im heart."

This book is a treasure that I happened to come across in a 'discount bin' at a bookstore - but like so many of the books that are greatly reduced in price, this one is truly priceless . . . I have always been interested in Jamaican culture and society, and just finished reading Timothy White's 'Catch a Fire - The Life of Bob Marley' which was the perfect way to get in the mindset for Michael Thelwell's masterpiece 'The Harder They Come.' This book is not simply a tale of the legendary Rhygin who was a hero of the common Jamaican sufferah, but also a glimpse into the life of Jamaicans following the period of British colonial rule - So many themes are present in the novel - the contrast between country and city, the traditions and myths of those living in the bush, the hand to mouth existence of so many Jamaican poor that live in Kingston, the power struggle of politics and law, as well as the ganja trade which somehow effects all Jamaicans . . .

This book will immerse you in Jamaican culture, and I'm not talking about the resorts on the coast - this is the real deal and is a must read!

I have four children, ages 8 through 3, and this is their hands-down favorite Christmas book. Well, possibly, all-time book. Each page has tons of details for the kids to notice and find -- even as an adult, I seem to find new things in it each time we read it. And thanks to this book, they are learning all the words to the song.

Hilary Knight's Twelve Days Of Christmas tells of a bear who struggles with an overabundance of holiday gifts from her sweetheart. Whimsical animals parade in each scene as poor Bedelia struggles with a house increasingly filled with odd gifts. The illustrations are especially whimsical.

I've loved Hilary Knight's work since I was a child feasting on his *Hilary Knight's ABC.* In his *Twelve Days of Christmas," Knight provides an original and meaningful interpretation of the traditional carol. I especially love the way Bedelia returns the "true love" of her beloved gift-bringer by making a fair for him to enjoy--love is reciprocal in this book! The second thing I love about this book is the subplot, in which the raccoon struggles to open the mysterious can, only to find a true love of his own. Finally, the concept of each day as a "pick-up," in which Benjamin brings a partridge and a pear tree (and ensuing gifts) on *each* day, adds a new dimension to the story. Well-planned, beautifully executed, and the finest children's picture book version of "The 12 Days of Christmas" that I've seen.

It's Christmastime, and Benjamin Bear looks out his window, and down the path to his beloved, Bedelia Bear's little cottage, and you can almost see the gift ideas popping into his furry head. So, on the first day of Christmas, he arrives with a partridge in a pear tree, and the fun begins..... Hilary Knight, author of Where's Wallace and The Owl And The Pussy-Cat, and illustrator of Kay Thompson's Eloise books, takes this old familiar holiday song, and turns it into a joyous and engaging picture book. His marvelous artwork, full of bold, bright color, and expressive detail, grows busier, and more intricate with each page turn, until it almost spills off the paper. Young and old alike will be mesmerized as they pore over the pictures, finding something new and fun each time they open the book. With a delightful and creative surprise at the end to get everyone in the holiday spirit, Hilary Knight's The Twelve Days Of Christmas is a wonderful read-aloud book the whole family can share together, and is sure to become a "must have" classic to help usher in the Christmas season, year after year.

I picked up this book as an afterthought - not really interested in the content - but compelled to by the Holy Sprit. What I found was a book full of insight and encouragement. I felt like someone had finally captured - on paper - the essence of my personal relationship to God and the church. I read this book in several hours - and have passed it on to many friends and members of the clergy. I highly recommend it to young adults who are unsure of their relationship with the church - and to pastors who may be starting a ministry to the next generation of young adults.

Generation X is labeled by individuals within the group as speaking up for independence and non- conformity, while the elders are busy referening to them as isolationist. Well, all may be true, but it is through the eyes of spirituality that this generation may become truly connected to each other as well as the church. That is just the goal of this book, bringing together the similarities, and doing it through there hearts. They ask a simple question "How can we bring spirtuality into the Generation X'ers life?". From this standpoint the conversation begins, and the results formulate a wonderful read.

Fantastic, insightful, accurate and not filled with fluff. Celek et al. get to the heart of what makes this midnset tick. Their focus is always biblical and on target. It's great reading for those in the lay ministry or those in full time ministry.

This book will help you understand why reaching Gen X is different than reaching the Boomers. It's different approach to a different group. A must to read.

Excellent insights on Boomer/Buster leadership styles.

This book is a great starting place for ministers who want to begin to understand the specific needs of Generation X. I found the insights on leadership incredibly helpful. The last chapter is devoted entirely to the study of GenX leadership styles: the need for empowerment, community, coaching (as opposed to dictating)...etc Indeed, the value of this chapter alone is worth the price of the whole book. Careful study and implementation of these informative and practical principles can assist church leadership to steer clear of, or to resolve unnecessary conflict. I highly recommend this book to the wide spectrum of ministers in leadership, from senior pastors to small group leaders.(boomers and busters alike)

Olivia Xavier has been widowed for five years. In his will, her husband left her the brewery, Greywell, which Olivia is determined to run herself. As a lady in 1883, it's extremely unconventional for her to be working, and running a brewery is shocking. Olivia doesn't care. She has her dreams and fantasies, and they all center around the stories she reads in dime novels about cowboys and the untamed America.

Will Coffin is a cowboy from Colorado. He's in England looking for his family with no real clue where to start his search. Like any self respecting cowboy, he brought his boots, hat, guns, and saddle with him across the ocean. He has no idea when he rescues her from some thugs that all his skills would be needed to save Lady X's life and brewery.

Olivia is standing outside the brewery waiting for her coach to arrive when she's accosted by several men who'd been sent to intimidate her into selling her brewery. While she's fending them off, a real live cowboy comes out of nowhere and rescues her with a bit of muscle and good ol' western brawling. Once the ruffians are gone, Olivia thanks Will and offers him a reward for his help. Will feels that he only did what any man worth his salt should do and therefore is extremely offended by her offer. He does tell her the general area where he's staying and she later tracks him down. Fortunately for him, she finds him right as the owner of the establishment is requesting him to leave and refuses to let him into his room to gather his possessions. With Olivia backing him up and looking down her aristocratic nose, the owner finally backs down and allows Will to retrieve his things. Olivia offers Will a room in her home for the night. While they talk, Will tells her about his parents' death and the miner who had found and raised him. He also explains to her exactly why he is in England. Olivia is in dire need of help with the so-called gentleman who's trying to force her to sell her brewery. Will needs help finding his folk. Can the two of them work out a plan that ensures that they both find their dreams . . . even if their dreams are more than they ever imagined.

I've read many books with cowboys and ladies but this is the first one I've ever read where the cowboy goes to England and I have to tell you I love it! Will doesn't put on fancy airs for anybody. He speaks with a decidedly American twang, and isn't afraid to fight when the need arises. Olivia is also bold, her fear of being ousted from society keeps her from displaying the full force of her nerve, though you do get peeks of it here and there. She's intelligent and determined, just as I'd expect a business woman to be. However, there's also a wistfulness that comes out when she's with Will. Together, they're a power to be reckoned with as they set out to shock and titillate the upper-crust of English society. Zoe Archer's LADY X'S COWBOY is both humorous and exciting from beginning to end. Definitely a book I'd recommend reading if you enjoy cowboy stories.

An unbelievable debut from Archer that grabs you from the very beginning. Olivia is a heroine out of her time struggling to battle the inevitable censure brought on by the fact that she is managing one of the most successful breweries in London which her late husband has left her. In her two years of full mourning she has decided to read every scrap of literature relating the management and the making of beer. She tackles the task head on, becoming so successful at it that spoiled and unscrupulous, peer of the realm Lord Pryce decides that he wants her brewery and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Hence a lovely villain.

When Lady Olivia is attacked by thugs hired by Pryce, Will Coffin strides in out of the fog to save the day. Full with a bushy mustache, six shooter, as long duster and more Western expressions that will put a grin on your face (such as "Fog's so thick that not even a mule in a mineshaft could see!"). The typical Western Cowboy who Lady Olivia hires to help manage her brewery. There are enough hot electrical sparks between them to light a fire - they are very sexually attracted to each other - as he is constantly saying whatever is on his mind - mostly to do with Lady Olivia's appearance, her beauty or her lips. She is taken aback by his candor and easy going, honest manner. All hell brakes loose when she brings him to her house and they encounter the tremendous censure from society when a high class lady is fraternizing with the lower classes.

This book is marvelous. An amazing story of how Olivia's love for Will transforms her and how they will stop at nothing to be together and love each other - no matter the dictates of society. An amazing debut from Zoë Archer - the book was exquisite, well written observing the Victorian elements of the era and fun and sexy to boot. The character development is wonderful and you will delight in reading Olivia's and Will's story. I can't wait for Zoë's next book.

In 1883 London, Colorado cowboy Will Coffin intercedes and rescues Lady Olivia Xavier from assault of three punks. She thinks the hunk who saved her from Lord Pryce's hired thugs could have been the front cover model of the western dime novels she loves to read.

Lady Olivia hires Will to help her save the brewery that she inherited from her late husband her unscrupulous rival Lord Pryce will do anything to either destroy or preferably steal her firm. Meanwhile Will has come to England to find his family here. He has no plans to socialize with people he does not understand nor is able to communicate with yet somehow he and Lady X who speaks a foreign language that sort of sounds like English, communicate through their hearts. Though the lady and the cowboy are in love, their respective social classes are more than just oceans apart.

This is a terrific Victorian romance that focuses on cultural differences between a tea toting English aristocrat and a cow poking American cowboy. The story line emphasizes the Grand Canyonesque gaps that the loving pair must surmount if they want a permanent relationship a concept both desire and fear. Humor via stereotyping presumptions add to the fun as Olivia cannot understand how he can be gentle instead of a rough hooligan like in the dime novels while Will struggles with how his English rose can be understanding and kind instead of haughty as he assumed all aristocratic ladies pretend a loftiness that make dudes like him feel like sewage. Fans will enjoy Zoe Archer's superb historical driven by two obviously in love characters that live light years apart in lifestyles.

Zoe Archer's debut novel is a refreshing and delightful read. Lady Olivia Xavier, the beautiful heroine, will not disappoint romance readers. She is a strong, independent businesswoman who frowns and struggles with the dictates of Victorian society and forms her own path. Underneath, she longs for romance and adventure, reading dime store cowboy novels in her spare time. Will Coffin, a "real" American cowboy, arrives in England to try and locate his lost family. He is a strong, sexy male who is attracted to and admires Olivia. He comes to her rescue to save her brewery, but also gives her the romance she has longed for. The romance is fun and sexy; definitely an 8 to 10 on the sensual scale. Zoe Archer really pulls off the blend of the Wild West American & the Society English Lady. There is suspense and many fun scenes. Unlike some romances, you do not walk away thinking any of these characters are flighty. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to future books by Zoe Archer.

"MacOSX Panther Hacks: 100 Industrial-Strength Tips &Tools" is an updating of the earlier "MacOSX Hacks" to address the newest operating system from Apple, OS 10.3, popularly known as "Panther". The Panther OS update continues to provide opportunity for basic users and power users to customize, tweek, and hack their machines. Unlike all previous Apple operating systems, the OSX iterations incorporating Unix underpinnings, legacy OS9 and Classic components, and a continuing evolving Mac GUI, provide unusually rich and complex textures allowing for all kinds of customizations.

The book is a compilation of 100 ideas, hacks, tips, and tweeks contributed by a large handful of developers and power users covering mostly productivity-enhancing items, but also security and maintenance items, and some fun and geeky items. It is designed for the adventurous spirits who may need some guidance in customizing their machine and applications.

There are nine chapters of such hacks. Chapter 1 covers the user interface including how to customize the Apple-provided animations like the "genie-effect". Available third-party applications for customizing the user interface, like Konfabulator, are noted and evaluated (Hacks #2).Others include launchers, desktop applications, keyboard shortcuts and the like. (Hacks 3-9).

Other sections include an introduction to Applescript, Safari tips and tricks, multi-media tricks, file and device synchronization, and Unix tips and tricks, including how to use the Terminal application. Hack #27 is a guide to the hidden debug menu, which provides access to otherwise unknown Safari and browser features. Hack #30 informs how to use RSS with the Mac. You can learn to build your own MPS server from Hack #41 and build an emergency boot volume with iPod in Hack #52.

Many of the hacks are quick and easy. Some require geek-level knowledge. The most interesting and perhaps most valuable sections deal with Panther maintenance and security. Hack #93 is a 19-page security primer useful for both basic and power users.

OS X UNIX is amazingly friendly and accessible. Some people who had never used it before type commands and work with the operating system directly as a "cool guys" in movies! This book is very helpful and well written and it is serves as a very nice reference. I paired this book with that "UNIX Essentials" DVD I found here on Amazon and it is complete UNIX course recorded and this book and a video they contribute one another greatly. You improve the reading and by reading you improve what you have seen.
The book is very particular about the subjects that related to OS X and because there are some differences between OS X and other UNIXes it is nice to have a book that deals with it.

....do that??!!

Once cracking this book open, it didn't take me long to have a "eureka!" experience. "I didn't know I could do that!" I heard myself say to myself. I learned something new that I bet no one else knows....or do they?

My favorite hack so far is using the services menu under the application menu. It's an amazing thing and has been used more often than anything else I read in the book. The next thing I'm going to do is use more scripting and attach those scripts to my file folders. Fortunately, the authors provide lots of great examples. Whew...I don't "do" Apple scripting.....yet. I will after reading this book.

The authors don't exclude the use of other applications in "hacking" the OS but they sure do provide a lot of helpful ways to use them. My very favorite hack in that way was their suggestion to "Clutter Your Desktop with Music." In that hack, #42, they suggest using a little iTunes add on called Clutter. Ohh...I don't want to give all of it away. I want everyone to have a copy of this book. You just have to use this little app. It's a great helper if you love your iTunes.

Some of these chapters will require return visits for me as I managed to find out that I knew very little about some aspects of "hacking" Panther. The book now resides on my desktop and will for the foreseeable future.

No one will lose by getting Mac OS X Panther Hacks and will surely be surprised at what they don't know when they get through this wonderful volume. Be sure to check one out for yourself very soon. You won't regret it.

This book has a little bit of everything for everyone. O'Reilly publishes a lot of OS X titles, but this one is the most unique of those that I have read (and I have read most of them). The reason is the insane breadth of the book. It covers everything from how to use Quicksilver (the best application for OS X, bar none) to how to share desktops, to script iPhoto with perl. If you want to see in just how many ways you can hack your Mac you have to check this book out. It's one of a kind, and for those with the need to really see how they can tweak their Mac, this is a must have.

Something for everybody...

The hacks in this book seem to end up in one of three categories. Useful to me, useful to somebody else, and just plain weird (but good for a laugh). The last is represented by Hack #60 - iOscillate. Think iChat, iSight, some adhesive, and a stripped down oscillating fan. Mac people have all the fun...

I found the hacks involving bluetooth, cellphones and your Mac worth the price of the book. Prior to this I "wanted" a bluetooth phone. Now I "need" a bluetooth phone. =) I was also happy to find the info on getting the Postfix Mail Server running.

The great thing about the hacks, IMHO, is that despite there only being 10 hacks or so that you might find useful enough to start using right away, you're bound to come up with another few on your own. For example, by combining what I learned from a few of the hacks, I was able to set up Virex to scan my Mail inbox for viruses every 15 minutes. So far, I've only found W32 viruses, but you can never be too cautious. =)

If you want to feed your inner geek, this book is for you.

Malcolm X, in his short life, spoke out strongly and forcefully against the injustices of the world, not just in the streets of the USA but around the globe. In this wonderful collection of his speeches, now in Spanish, he tells the truth to young fighters from Alabama to London to Africa. He talks not just of discrimination in the South, but also of Vietnam. As an internationalist fighter he exhorts young people to become citizens of the world and see the interconnections of struggles. However, the most important legacy of Malcom X is not the historical value of the speeches, but the real relevance to young fighters today. The horrors of war, poverty, racism, and violence are still with us. This book is a tool, still sharp, that can be used by those who want to use it today.

In his short life, Malcolm X became, through overcoming obstacles, challenging what was possible, and educating himself about the world, one of the U.S's foremost champions of the oppressed and exploited here and around the world. From the Congo to Harlem, he spoke out against injustice and called for right thinking people to demand change. In this collection of speeches, he speaks to those perhaps most important---the youth of the world. The speeches addressed the concerns of young people questioning the world they saw all around them in the 1960s---Vietnam, the Congo, the racism and violence in the United States. Malcolm not only spoke of these problems but expressed his confidence that the young people before him could take hold of destiny and transform society into a world worthy of humanity. This book is as important today as the speeches were in the 1960s---a tool for young fighters trying to figure a way out of the horrors of today---war, ecological devastation, poverty, and the continued assaults on civil and democratic rights not just in "dictatorships" somewhere else, but right here in the USA.

This book was published at the request of the youth of Cuba! The young communists of Cuba requested that Pathfinder Press make this collection available in Spanish to educate the youth of Cuba about courage, audacity, scientific thinking, racism, and the need for pride in the bravery of youth, pride in the strength of the oppressed, pride in the example of Malcolm X. These are speeches to young people given literally all over the world. Some speeches are given in Harlem. Some of these speeches were given in Selma Alabama at the height of the civil rights struggle in 1965. One of the richest and most beautiful speeches here is the full text--published for the first time in this edition, of a debate Malcolm participated in at the Oxford University union. Another speech is given in Tanzania to African revolutionists. There is one message, Malcolm X's belief that young people, can and will change the world. Malcolm X's believe that the spirit of the then courageous simba fighters in Congo, Viet Cong in Vietnam, revolutionary student youth in France, and civil rights fighters in America could spread to youth around the world and save the world from the racist, imperialist exploiters, and build a world run by what Malcolm calls the "field niggers" is these speeches. Now old myself, though of the generations that heard Malcolm in these years and places, I have no doubt that young people of today facing worse conditions than in Malcolm's time, can pick up where the youth of the 1960s left off, and finish the job the old can no longer do!

Marude X is the story of two friends and their search for meaning, love and happiness. It is also a look at the strange world of literary sucess and failure, as well as a cautionary tale of relationships in the latter part of the 20th century. If you like your fiction fast and lite... DONT buy this book... but if you enjoy a well written, thought provoking, complex tale of love, lust, and the tragedies that can befall us all then this book is for you. Marude X is the Author's first novel and is likely to NOT be his last.

This book captures a uniquely 80s and 90s what-the-hell mood that stems from a mixture of impotent helplessness and decadent abundance. Bartone's figures seem trapped by their search for meaning and truth in an age where even cynicism seems cliche and dated. Marude acts as merely a sun around which these hapless, lifeless planets revolve. Certainly not a "feel-good", light read, but oddly sobering and, dare I say, almost uplifting. Be prepared to laugh in spite of yourself.

Wow, what can I say. The entire book is a roller coaster of fun and debauchery; it is both a cautionary tale and a Hunter Thompson-esque romp, filled with delicious wordplay, keen observation, and wicked silliness. A wonderful first effort; I can't wait for Mr. Bartone to surpass it with future tales.

I strongly recommend it. Be prepared to laugh out loud, while simultaneously cheering and pitying the characters.

A Post-Industrial novel for the Gen-X intelligensia.

Jeff Bartone's first novel is a worthy journey through the post college days of the late 1980's and early 90's in which this cast of zany characters tries to get something going, something of their own, something real. Bartone uses his wordsmithing gifts to help illuminate the lives of this small group; each trying to have life on their own terms, regardless of convention or social acceptability. Farcical in tone, but with a strong recognition of the human spirit, Bartone will make you laugh, especially if you get his high powered, high culture jabs at the "gonzo" unpredictability of life. Marude X gives us the lives of those living on the edge of success and failure, sanity and madness, and love and infatuation.

Bartone's triumph is his ability to take the decadent existence of these characters to heights of humor, loss and irreverence, while still feeling for them as people. A remarkable first effort, I can't wait for our next offering from Mr. Bartone.
