You can't beat this series. I absolutely love this book too. The way Henry and Lin deal with real issues in an entertaining
way teaches kids lessons without readers even knowing it. I loved this book!

I ordered this book for my 5th grader. He has read the whole series and LOVES Hank Zipzer, eagerly awaiting each new book
coming out. This one was not available at our local bookseller (only through a special order), so I ordered it on Amazon
with some other things to qualify for the minumum for free shipping. Yippee! Free shipping AND the new Hank Zipzer! It's
our lucky day!
My 5th grader read "Who ordered this baby" the day it was received and said it's probably the best one yet!
We highly recommend this series by The Fonz.

I have two boys ages 8 and 4. At first they didn't seem that interested, but soon were laughing! My oldest son is struggling
in school right now, and I thought these books would be a fun way to let him know that he is not the only one. It's perfect
for this! Hank Zipzer easily points out all his acadamic flaws but is very creative in how he works around these issues.
I can hear it now... "What would Hank do?" I'm looking forward to all the other books in the series. Thank you Henry Winkler
for bringing laughter to what can be a very fustrating time in a childs life. And helping the parents and teachers see it
from their point of view. This is a great book for all Elem. kids!

Hank Zipzer has more than his share of problems but these tapes will delight kids in the carpool or kids and grownups trapped
together in t he car. Everybody will get a few laughs, and feel like they met a real live kid they'd all like to hang out
with. Great listening for ALL ages.

The entire series of Hank Zipzer books is GREAT!!! My son can't get enough of them. They are a wonderful read, especially
for any child who suffers from a learning challenge. They are easy to relate to and help to build self-esteem for children
who have learning challenges and help others to understand how the world works for them. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

My son and I have read the first 3 books in the Hank Zipzer series together. We enjoyed each one, especially the underlying
theme of hope for children who learn differently. This fourth book, was the turning point where my son actually is reading
the book alone. If I could contact Mr. Winkler I would like to thank him for being such a great role model for kids who are
bright and creative but have difficulties in areas that the rest of us take for granted. The print is large and the vocabulary
is not overwhelming yet the stories are fun and meaningful for the tween age group. We can't wait for the 5th book to come
out in May 2004.

My son enjoys the entire Hank Zipzer series. He struggles with learning disabilities as Hank does, and enjoys the creative
ways that Hank tries to get around them. My son also admires Hank's sense of humor and his loyal friends, Frankie and Ashley.
And who wouldn't want a grandpa like Papa Pete?

This series created by Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver is a must read for every kid in 3 grade and up. I read the first Hank
Zipzer book a few years back and it reminded me of one of my own boys. I told my son's 4th grade teacher she had to read the
book, that it was one of the best books for kids I had read in a long time. Turns out four years later she is still reading
the books to her students. Kids easily realate to the charaters and issues incountered in each of the 12 books. Short and
easy to read, these books become an instant favorite.

Another excellent addition to the Hank Zipzer collection. Any child will be sure to relate to Hank's excitement of learning
and succeeding at a new sport, as well as his apprehensiveness of telling his friends for fear of their reaction. Your child
will be cheering for Hank all the way as you read of his finally telling his friends of his new talent, his getting to see
that bully Nick McKelty put in his place, and then seeing Hank get his chance to show off his talent to his friends, teachers,
and parents. Looking forward to book #10...

Summer School What Genius Thought That Up is about a boy named Hank Zipzer who has to go to summer school and has 2 best friends
Ashley and Frankie went to a fun activity for a couple of weeks called junior Explorers. One day the summer school kids got
told that they needed to do a project about a famous citizen in N.Y. The same day the Junior Explorers got told that they
have a talent show on Friday night and anyone's invited. So Frankie and Ashley told Hank. Then Hank asked his Dad if he could
go to the talent show. Hank's Dad said that he couldn't go unless he got an A on his project for summer school. He studied
every night and asked Mr. Rock said "No."
I got scared when it said in the book Hank didn't get an A on his project because he made a big deal about the talent show. They made his costume, the set and got it on the stage and HE MEMORIZED ALL HIS LINES! (Surprisingly!)
I think the way they described the costume sounded like it would be funny to see Hank in it.
I also wonder if Mason will grow up to be an artist because he's really good at drawing.
You should really read the book it's fantastic and funny.

These books have transformed my youngest brother (a 6th grader) into a "reading-machine." Very few books interested him before
Hank Zipzer. Now, he calls every so often to tell me he's finished one, and lets me know what happened and what he thinks
of it. A big thank-you to Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver for not overlooking young boys as an important literary audience.
The characters are relateable, the subject matter real and humorous. I would reccommend this to anyone with kids in thier lives ages 9-12. These books will win over even your most reluctant reader.

We found a couple of these books at our local library and my son who didn't just love to read can't put these down. He reads
and laughs and reads and laughs. He is required to read for 1 hour a day, but with these books he goes past the hour and
then is back into it again just before bed. We already ordered several more on Amazon and he has chosen them over all other
books to read. We had tried many different types of books before trying these and he just didn't enjoy reading. I'm going
to be sad when he has read all of them, we will have to go in search of another good read for him.

I discovered Hank Zipzer while watching Henry Winkler doing an interview. He mentioned that one of the reasons he had written
the books was because he wanted to explain what life was like for a student who learned in a different way from everyone else.
It worked. The book is funny, touching, and true. Hank is a "real" boy. I am currently reading it aloud to my grandson,
who is 9, who has some learning disabilities of his own. The story and the characters provide great opportunites for talking
about "coping" with problems.

This series is wonderful! While we enjoyed reading each of the books in this series, EVEN BETTER was listening to Henry Winkler
read them aloud on the audio version.
My two sons (ages 8 and 11) and I (age 40) were laughing out loud as we listened. Like many other reviewers, we recognized ourselves in Hank.
One of the best ones is _I Got a D in Salami_, the third one.

My 10 year old son loves Hank Zipzer, I do too. This book is great, very funny and so real you could just imagine your child
as Hank. This book is one of our favorites in the series. They are all wonderful books, very entertaining and funny for both
children and adults. My son really relates to Hank he has similar issues with reading and writing (Dyslexia), so for him
the books are such a great moral boost. These books are written easy enough for my son to read, but yet so entertaining they
do not seem too young for a 10 year old. We love them so much we bought a small set for my son's classroom and the school
library. This is a series most boy's will relate too!

I liked how the author had the idea to make Hank lose his permission slip to go on the field trip with his friends. Because
his mean teacher gave him only one hour to look for it. It was funny how the captain on the ship made them mop pee off the
decks.
I think I liked, "Help I'm trapped in 4th grade" a little bit better. Because it had more funny parts.

These books are hilariously funny for 4th grade boys. I'm sure girls can read them too but girls have a dozen or so book series
to chose from so this one's for the little guys. I have a difficult time getting my 9 year old to read on his own but with
these book, he reads every night and begs for the next book. According to my son, get the first book and then any of the
following books can be read in any order.

I read the book, The Night I Flunked My Field Trip by Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver. I liked the book because it told about
a kid who has a hard time remembering things. The book tells about how Hank tries and tries until he finally gets it right!
One of my favorite parts is when Hank unties the rope to learn how to tie it. He doesn't know how to read the directions but he thinks he can figure it out for himself by doing it. The only problem with that is that he doesn't get it right and the ship drifts out to sea.

Two years ago, we moved into a house built in 1875, and bought up an armload of Victoriana books to tell us what to do with
it. Most of them were "decorator porn" -- lots of gorgeous pictures (many photographing the same places) that inspire a
person to go antique hunting or to refinish Aunt Martha's rocker. This book is different! It divides 70 years into 4 periods,
and for each, tells you plenty about what went on the walls, on the floors,on the windows, on the ceilings. It tells how
the composition of paint (and its effects) evolved over the century, recommends books for sources of historic wallpapers,
and tells how to recapture Victorian room colors amidst modern lighting. Generous notes on bygone lifestyles, too, with
sprinkled quotes from Charles Eastlake, Godey's Lady's Book, and other 19th century gurus of taste. If you want something
to help you capture the look (or just understand it) of another century, here it is. More encyclopedic than (the also useful,
but much shorter) "Creating Authentic Victorian Rooms." The downside? Very low porn quotient: No glossy paper and few
colored pictures (even for contemporary photographs)--but numerous 19th-century prints and diagrams.
A GOOD BOOK FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO DO IT RIGHT!

I voluteer at an 1844 farm in Ann Arbor, MI. I have been researching paint colors and wallpaper for a sitting room and this
book was the best source I have found. There is good descriptions of the tastes and styles of each time period as well as
some pictures that really show what they are talking about. More pictures would have been helpful, but it's good book for
those looking to do true historic restoration. My one problem with the book is the lack of paint colors. It will say, "they
used to paint the rooms blue-green, grey or yellow" but the book doesn't show what these colors looked like or even what the
color range to begin in. That is my only criticism. If you are looking to be completely accurate with your restoration more
work and research would be required, but this book is the best place to start.

Researching a mystery novel with a Victorian subplot, I pillaged the library for reference books. This one (I've just ordered
my own copy) stands far above the rest. Not only are the details accessible, but the book references design mavens and trendsetters
of that time so you can follow those research threads as well. Only problem is the maddening absence of color in sections
addressing color. The black and white "color wheel" on pg.130 has got to be a first. And what on earth is "citron?" Beyond
that, however, this is a well-organized goldmine of thoroughgoing detail about Victorian decorating bound to delight those
interested in authenticity.
