Happily, this is an original script/shooting script, not the final filmed version so there are plenty of scenes and lines included here that did not appear in the movie. After reading I have a new appreciation for the subtle, nearly flawless directing and acting in this amazing film. Buy it!

I liked Max's big vision.

I liked Rushmore for a few reasons. The first is that the soundtrack featured songs by The Who, Cat Stevens and Chet Baker instead of some crappy "alternative" bands. I also liked the big vision that Max Fisher had for himself and the people around him. He risked making a fool out of himself in order to accomplish goals that only he could see. Bill Murray can turn any word into a laugh. I want to read the book.

I dare use the word "quirky," because that usually means "esoteric and/or pedantic." But "Rushmore" manages to be quirky while still being entertaining and heartful. There is real emotional impact in this film, as sharp and hurtful as first love lost. Yet, it remains a brilliant comedy with enough "moments" to make repeated viewings worthwhile. The book only serves as a fond memory of the film, much as the soundtrack. See the movie first, then buy the book to cherish the experience again.

Wonderful printed version of movie for ages.

Rushmore, both the script and the movie, are instant classics. The buzz generated is still modest compared to the actual impact. Very fulfilling read. Sic transit gloria.

If not anything, the humor.

I identified with the characters in the movie. I know one person wrote an intelligent review saying that the movie seemed too surreal, but in my opinion, though I admit the situation had a surreal feel to it, the characters were extremely realistic. I loved Margaret Yang and the way she was so caught up in success that she lied for a project that was almost bought by NASA.

If you don't like anything else, you have to at least admit that Rushmore is one of the funniest things you have seen or read.

My favorite thing about this screenplay is being able to read scenes that did not end up in the movie or the deleted scenes. I would recommend this for any Royal Tenebaums or Wes Anderson fan.

It is the screenplay of the movie, the same one that should have won the Oscar this year. For people who haven't seen the movie, reading the screenplay first may not be such a great idea. I know this movie went over a lot of people's heads, and I'm not positive one can fully appreciate the story from just reading it. However, I definately recommend reading it after seeing the movie, there is so much great dialogue that is easily missed and a lot of subtle humor that is more obvious written on the page. This was one of the best movies of 2001 and the screenplay is a great way to appreciate it again while waiting for the dvd.

A Superb and Unique Screenplay

"The Royal Tenenbaums" is really a great and clever film. Although it's not really classified as a solid comedy, it had me laughing aloud from start to finish. Then again, I like that weird kind of humor. To me, it was just a great film that took chances. It wasn't out to win a popularity contest. Wes Anderson makes films the way he envisions them and the way he wants them to be.

The thing that stands out the most in "The Royal Tenenbaums" is the brilliant script that was written by Wes Anderson and Owen Wilson. The dialogue witty and realistic, and each character stands out and leaves an impression on us.

The story is about Royal Tenenbaum and his dysfunctional family. Him and his wife separated many years ago, but the divorce was never final. His wife, Etheline, kept the house and raised the children by herself. They each reached to fame in some way or another, but not without problems lurking about. After many years have passed, Royal finds out that Etheline has been asked to take somebody's hand in marriage. Royal comes up with a scheme on how to get himself back into the picture, bringing forth a crazy and unexpected family reunion like you have never seen.

With only set directions and dialogue, this reads more like a play. There are no camera angels, which is why it reads like a script for a play. You'll appreciate it more if you've seen the movie, but reading it is just as enriching and enjoyable to me. You get to relive your favorite moments and exchanges through words.

"The Royal Tenenbaums" by Wes Anderson and Owen Wilson is a magnificent screenplay and can be enjoyed many times over. With great dialogue exchanges, characters, and out-of-control and unpredictable situations, this is a screenplay worth reading over and over again. A work of art, if you ask me.

Favorite line from the movie: "Anybody feel like grabbing a couple of burgers and hitting the cemetery?" - Royal Tenenbaum

I thought that the Royal Tenebaums was one of the best films I have seen this year, after what I thought had been a disasterous year of film making,it was a breath of fresh air, the only other two films I feel are on a level with it are Amelie and The Man who wasn't there!
From the very opening I wanted to go and see the film, with it's bright colours and quirky story line, the very advertisment had me drooling with delight.
I had mixed reviews from some of my friends, some thought it was boring, others hilarious, after going to see it with my brother and sister it was a unanimous decision, this film was AMAZING!
The plot itself was so simple, yet the characters made the film what it was, I absolutely loved Richie and I thought that Pagoda was brilliant, going to see this film has to be one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life.

Owen Fiddler was an engaging and entertaining read. While Owen is definitely a character one may easily despise, he is also one that readers can connect with. He shows the selfishness that can overtake the human spirit in times of trouble, but his story also reveals a light at the end of the tunnel.

I would recommend this book to anyone who has lived through, or is going through, things in their life that they feel are beyond their own control. It was a great read!

There is a little of Owen Fiddler in each of us, whether we admit it or not. Owen is a man you find easy to dislike, yet there is something about him, just out of grasp, that makes you want to keep following him to see how he ends up.

Marvin Wilson has once again brought alive characters that are so real you will insist you know who they are modelled after. His smooth witing style allows the words to flow in a way that the words don't get in the way of the story.

There is a spiritual message within the pages of this book--one that you may not readily see. The message is so skillfully woven between the words that it does not jump out at the reader, but instead sifts slowly within your heart and mind and wraps itself gently around every cell. You may not see the message, but you will certainly feel it.

I look forward to more wrk by this wondrous author.

YOU HAVE TO LIVE YOUR SELF EVERYDAY is what I gathered from this unique and intriguing work of art. In reading "Owen Fiddler", I found the writing style to allow me to question my heart and empathy towards others. Here was a man who revealed how foundations of survival are established. You can give no more than you have and if you have not received it, especially the good, you tend to show it. I loved reading this book. Marvin Wilson did what writers are suppose to do, reveal the soul of humanity in a unique and thought-provoking way. Readers will be reminded, you do not know where your friend been, have mercy even if your friend is lost in his own madness. Excellent read.

Everyone can relate to Owen Fiddler

Review Date: 2008-04-24
Describing Owen Fiddler as an interesting portrayal of how one's actions can impact others lives, is truthful, but lacking. This novel is a character-driven tale of one man's negative existence. The reader is challenged to find any redeeming qualities in the main character, Owen Fiddler. He is not a man many would befriend.

Owen Fiddler is not a happy man. The world is against him every step of his life. Everyone can relate to a bad day. There are just days when you wake up and nothing goes as it should. Owen Fiddler experiences that every day. He has no good days. Therefore, none of his actions are his fault. He'd be happy if the world would just let him.

The story is entertaining on the page, but it is deeper for those who want to look. Whether you are spiritual, religious, atheist, or totally unwilling to accept there is more to living than what is experienced here on earth, this novel will resonate.

Marvin Wilson has created a colorful cast of characters in Owen Fiddler. The reader experiences the world as Owen goes through it. The author focuses on a few central characters which allows the reader to see the same situation from different perspectives. It's an engaging novel and the reader is grabbed with the opening sentence.

I recommend reading Owen Fiddler for a spiritual perspective on life that will cause you to think about your own actions and behavior. Whether or not you believe in God, a higher being, heaven, or any type of life after death, you will walk away from this novel having at least been inspired to glimpse the possibility.

Born Gay: The Psychobiology of Sexual Orientation is an impressive analysis of numerous studies that explore the etiology of sexual orientation. Wilson and Rahman investigate a multitude of variables that are suspected to cause, reveal, or predict a non-heterosexual sexual orientation among men and women. Born Gay is an excellent reader-friendly resource for anyone who wishes to understand the scientific works surrounding sexual orientation. This book will inform, educate and empower you.

Essential information about the causes of male and female homosexuality

This is a review of all significant research into the causes of homosexuality, both male and female.

The writers objectively review the scientific studies of gay people and present the findings clearly and in a readable style.
Many interesting questions are asked: What might cause someone to be gay? Does homosexuality run in families? Does childhood behaviour predict adult sexuality?

I recommend this book particularly to gay people. It explains causes of homosexuality and every gay person should have knowledge of this area.

I also recommend this book to anyone who wants to be informed about gay people and sexuality in general. This is an important book that deserves attention and a wide audience.

This book is probably the best comprehensive study book for the Professional Development part of the ExCET exam. It has lots of information and sample test questions. It is very well written and was suggested in my school district as the best book to get. There is a study book that works well with it (kind of like a workbook) called Pass the ExCET on Your First Try. I highly recommend The Best Test Prep...
