"Come Up And See Me Sometime!" by David Hanna, was the first unauthorized Mae West biography published in her lifetime. Billed as a "Confidential Biography," this trashy paperback filled in many aspects of West's career she forgot or purposefully wanted to leave behind. Hanna, a columnist and feature writer for the Hollywood Reporter and the Los Angeles Daily News, also edited Uncensored and Whisper, gossip pulps that had their heyday in the 1950's and early Sixties, enabling him to access salacious details on aspects of West's career and love affairs she did not want printed. A guilty pleasure indeed, but well worth searching out.
