Every recipe I have made from this book has never ceased to amaze me and those I serve it to for unique and amazing flavor. The ensalada de orzo diablo is amazing - I make it often and it is received with enthusiasm and even those unsure who may take a little at first (even if to be polite) come back for a big second serving. Don't forget to try the chinese asparagus salad, it's so good!

I collect cookbooks, and many I have never used, or barely used; this book however is well loved, is used frequently, and has the splatter marks to prove it!

I had some time to kill while waiting for a flight to take off from Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix. I started looking at some cookbooks, and this offering from Mad Coyote Joe was displayed prominently. Once you flip through this book, it's as good as bought!

MCJ is upfront about his background - he's not a trained cook, but he loves the food he makes, knows it backwards and forwards, and has a passion for letting others know about how to make the stuff he loves. Most importantly, the language he uses is clear and concise and is therefore accessible to all levels of readers, including those like me who have to ask our spouses where they keep the butter.

The recipe for Joe's 'Two-Chile Salsa' is alone worth the price of admission. This is the type of dish you bring to a gathering and as the guests gorge themselves you're bound to get an incredulous "*you* made this?"-type of reaction.

I live in arizona and make sure to watch the "sonoran grill" on tv everyday. Sorry to those of you outside the arizona area. I dont believe they broadcast anywhere else. Mad coyote joe lives in cavecreek arizona with his wife and children and hosts this great cooking show from his own backyard while throwing scraps at his yellow lab. He is the top authority on everything sonoran. This book is full of his best recipes for fresh,hommade salsa.BBQ rubs and anything else grilled. If you like the flavor of the southwest you'll love this book even if you dont know the show!

I have tried most of the recipes in this book, and have repeated many of them over and over again. I have not tried one yet that was not a big hit with the family and friends, all of which are southwestern cuisine fans. The instructions are vague, but I was curiously complimented that Mad Coyote thought I already knew the basics. The flavors from each of the recipes (ie: Black Bean/White Corn Salad and Gazpacho Soup) are outstanding. A great way to impress any dinner party guest.

Mad Coyote Joe hosts "The Sonoran Grill", a popular television cooking show and in this superb regional cookbook showcases 130 of his favorite recipes featuring a Southwestern touch. From Posole (a classic American Indian soup), to Chile Rellenos (a delicious Mexican dish), to Habanero-Lime Butter (perfect for vegetables, potatoes, grilled fish and pork), to Sonoran Mesquite-Smoked Brisket (a true Sonoran dish with a twist!), The Sonoran Grill offers the best of the Southwest suited for transforming even the most novice kitchen cook into a skilled grilling expert!

The most heartbreaking story I have ever read...Ngor tells his story with a lucid and clear voice and keeps you forever wondering how people can do such things to one another. A definite introduction to the history of the Cambodian genocide, and one that will humble you when you think your problems are too large.

That said, it it so worth the reading. The writing flows and moves you to see such a human spirit survive.

Before this book, I had only vaguely heard of the name Pol Pot and the nation of Cambodia. Where I go to school, we have history for four years, but never get past the Civil war.
As I was changing the television station, I heard the name Pol Pot and Cambodian again. This time I was determined to educate myself and I bought this book.
I was horrified, I was ashamed, I was overwhelmed. First we had allowed the Jews to endure the Holocaust, and now we had let millions of Cambodians die the same way.
Maybe the history teachers in my area just need to come into the 20th century and repeat IT over and over again, because obviously we're not learning from our mistakes.

This book is on top of my list as the best reads ever. It truly is an amazing story and will leave you thinking about this world we live in. I reccommend this book to all...what a great learning tool to use in the classroom also!

I first spotted this book at a tourist book shop in Phnom Penh and after scanning its pages, I was hooked. It is an immensely absorbing tale, both harrowing and hopeful. I was drawn not only into Dr. Ngor's story but into Dr. Ngor himself. As I kept reading, I felt hungry, exhausted, terrified and sad. But if I wanted it to stop, I simply had to close the book. Not that simple for Dr. Ngor.
I pray that Ngor Haing is now with his Sweet, living the life that was so cruelly denied to them. This book is definitely one of the best I've ever read in my life, and I hope that in your heaven, you can hear me say Thank You, Dr. Ngor.

If you are interested in reading the memoir of someone who survived the reign of the Khmer Rouge, then I can't reccommend any other book higher. I have read two other books from survivors, but Ngor's book was by far my favourite.

What sets Ngor's book apart from the others that I have read is that Ngor was an adult when the Khmer Rouge took over. His memories are very lucid, and he fully comprehends what is going on around him. He watches his young wife die in his arms, those close to him betray, and everyone around him suffer. There are no high points throughout the entire odysey. Ngor brings you to the senseless and incomprehensible suffering that pervades every aspect of life under the Khmer Rouge.

One element I particularily enjoyed about Ngor's book is the extensive descriptions of Cambodian culture, attitudes and behaviour. Cambodian society (from what I can gather from what I have hitherto studied) is highly formal, with a rather complex series of formality set up for intereaction with others and a rather reserved character in regards to expression of feelings. The most important of which in this context being "kum," which is a sort of bitterness and longing for revenge, that becomes evident in a lot of what is happening. You will leave this read with a feeling of not only being inside of what is happening, but also for the actual mechanisms guiding behaviour.

This is, however, not a pleasant read in the least. The descriptions of the atrocities are beyond anything that I was expecting, and for that reason, I would seriously warn others that this is not for the faint at heart. Luckily, Ngor offers notes at the beginning of graphic chapters so that one can skip over them. You will lose sleep, and I can guarantee you that it makes any of those goofy horror movies like "Hostel" and "Turistas" look like a day at Disneyland. This horror is real, and not far in the past. Being that my normal area of study is Russian history, I have read a lot about the horrors of communism and tyranny, but nothing from the basements of Lyubyanka Prison or Mao Tse Tung's Cultural Revolution comes close to the abominable atrocities of Pol Pot's Cambodia.

Ngor also describes his role in the classic movie, The Killing Fields, as well as his integration of life in America. An afterword by friend Roger Warner ends the book on a particularily haunting and sad note, but rightfully so, none the less.

There are a lot of truely excellent books available by survivors of the Killing Fields, and this is the quintessential starting point for those who wish to learn more.

This book is so wonderful! It made me feel like I was seeing him in his true form. Having the ability to see his handwritten poems, look at pictures of his life and see a part of who he was....This book is a must for any Tupac Fan!!!

I happened to have bought this at the bookstore when it first came out, in fact its in a cover to protect it from all dust----that's how incredible this book is!!!!! Since his untimely passing, I have not been too happy with how Afeni has continued his legacy....the movie Resurrection was on point and this scrapbook is priceless! The inserts of copied original Tupac scripts,letters,plans,his written ideas,explanations,songs is amazing! I recommend anyone that listened to his music and followed his star to look at this book! Once you look at it, you will want your own copy! And it deserves more then 5 stars!

This book is incredible. The book is full of life with photos, documents, blueprints, and much more. Readers will be pleased with all of the detachable documents and things that somehow make you feel closer to Pac. My mom and I were in tears when we read on of the detachable court documents that a father wrote to a judge regarding Tupac's true character. He stated that his son was deathly ill and had one final wish that Tupac granted. What a tear jerker!! Read and enjoy. You will come away inspired and more in love with a man that helped change the way we perceived thugs and how we felt about hop-hop.

This book is short and to the point. Sometimes when people write these kind of books, they elabroate forever. Not this one. There's not a lot of wordy explanations. I appreciate that. Info very precise with good advice and techniques pertaining specifically to commercials. Stone not only deals with the audition process, he helps you avoid making mistakes and falling for scams as well as showing how to market yourself.
I have not seen a more detailed or informative book on the subject.

When a few friends and I decided to explore commercial acting, we needed a roadmap. This book is it! There are a lot of acting books out there, but Stuart's stands out by explaining the process of breaking into commercials from the ground up without talking down to his reader. Concise, highly readable, and, most importantly, backed by Stuart's knowledge as both a working actor and casting director, this book teaches you how to be a professional and hit the ground running in a very competitive business.

This book is very short and the information is very general. Only a few things pertained specifically to commercials at all. There are much more detailed and informative books out there.

I read Stuart's book and became so motivated to get out and start making things happen for myself with reagards to my acting career. He give excellant advice on what to do and how to do it. Anyone reading this book, will not want to put it down. It truly is the best book ever!

Before Meeting A Prospective Commercial Agent:

"When you get an appointment with an agent you should call and confirm the night before, for a morning appointment, and the morning of, for an afternoon appointment. This effort will show them you are responsible. Many actors forget the business part of the equation; your professionalism will set you apart from the actor wannabees. Dress like you would on a general commercial call-with a leaning towards upscale casual. Avoid perfumes or colognes. Bring an up-to-date picture and resume with you. If you have a demo reel of your commercials, bring that as well. Arrive twenty minutes early to secure a parking space and find the office. Do not be late. And call if you have any problem keeping your appointment. The agent is taking time from his or her busy schedule to meet with you. DO NOT keep them waiting."




While Preparing For Your Photo Shoot & What To Look For While Selecting Your Headshots:

"The most important thing to remember is this: You want your picture to look like you do when you walk into any given audition. We can't stress that enough, so we're going to repeat it. You want your picture to look like you do when you walk into any given audition at any time. Not how you'd like to look after a visit to the plastic surgeon, not how your mother tells you how you look when she pinches your cheek, but how you really look."


During The Commercial Audition:

"It is imperative that you establish a beginning, middle and an end to your actions. This is a hard and fast rule in approaching any type of audition. You are, in a sense, performing a complete, short scene for the camera."



"While working, whether alone or with a partner, do not memorize the lines. Fully familiarize yourself, stick an operative phrase or two in your head, but do not commit the pages to memory. Unlike a theatrical audition where you have leeway to rehearse and memorize, the time you have with commercial copy is minimal. Most actors try to impress the casting director by having the dialogue memorized but they end up trying to remember the copy and are not able to act at all. They end up leaving the acting out, which is 50% of the work. Once in the audition room there will be a cue card with the copy clearly printed in bold magic marker situated on and easel next to the camera. Use it. If you memorize the copy, it's almost impossible to use the cue cards to help you out if you forget memorized lines. Instead, develop the skill of cue card reading."


During The Callback:

"No matter how many people are crowded into the room, focus your attention on the director. He or she is in charge this time around."

I had the pleasure of seeing Pete Best in concert on 26 September 2008 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He and his band put on an amazing show and he was very friendly and gracious as he signed autographs chatted with us later. A week later I ordered this book because I wanted to know his side of the story. I was not disappointed. He certainly got a rotten deal, but he has remained remarkably sane throughout the years (I think his long marriage to Kathy has had something to do with it). He has achieved the recognition and success he deserves. He's 67 now and he looks like a 60-something-year-old man but you can tell he's taken care of himself over the years. Yes, he whined a bit after he was kicked out of the Beatles but he moved on with his life and he's done very well. Thank you, Pete, for this book. I'm definitely a Pete Best fan!

Call me crazy, but this is one of the most important rock biographies - perhaps THE most important - ever written. All I can say is, 'totally cool!' I couldn't put it down.

In a sense Pete Best was a winner of another kind.
He made a succesful marriage for one thing and after 1995 a lot of money.
His recording career in the States came to nothing and yet the songs were typical Merseybeat,mostly written by Waddington and Bickerton who would achieve success in the 70s with a string of hits by the Rubettes.
Also overlooked is the fact that he was the only one of the 1962 Beatles who got a Decca recording contract

Wow. I read this book and enjoyed it immensely. It is the most honest account I have read in years.
Pete Best was with the Beatles during the early sixties, when they had yet to hit the big time. They spent several months in Hamburg, just learning their trade. He was with them through the Cavern Club years and the Decca audition. But just when things started to go right for the band, he was sacked.
Why?
We don't know. Pete says that he still doesn't know after all these years.
You may expect the book to be bitter about the Beatles success - but it isn't. You may expect him to bad mouth the band throughout - but he doesn't. He paints them in a remarkably nice light, that comes across as both honest and believable.
He recounts tales about drugs, drink and girls - and describes the personalities of the big bands they met - Tony Sheridan and Gerry and the Pacemakers for example.
And he also gallently talks about the day he was sacked, and the reasons why he thinks they did it.
The prologue at the end that describes his subsequent career shows that we shouldn't be sorry for him at all... What we wouldn't give to be at the heart of that!

Highly recomending this book for any Beatles Fans.
Anyone who is interested in the early Beatles History
this is a must read....
I finished reading this book in just under two days.
And like another reviewer I also found myself unable to put it down! It just drawns you in.
I came away with a different prospective on Pete,
really not knowing much about him or his life except that he was the original drummer for the Beatles.
I actually bought this book to be autogrpahed as I was going to see him the following week and lucky the book arrived in time..
A must have!!!!!

Great recaps of the first season with brilliant photography, the best lines from each episode, and some fun behind the scenes info. I'm enough of a BONES junkie that I would buy one for each season!

ok, so I admit it, I am a diehard devoted fan to the Fox TV show Bones. This is an amazing guide/companion/keepsake book to the show. The quality is amazing, glossy full color pages all the way though and detailed glimpses into each episode and a breakdown of each season (season 1 and 2 so far). There's interviews and antidotes galore on the actors, creative behind the scenes of the making of the show. You can't go wrong by investing in the purchase of this book. It's inexpensive and high quality. I almost forgot to mention all those amazing photos of David Boreanaz also.

I bought this book, at first, just to read. But now I use it all the time when I'm watching Seasons 1 & 2 on DVD. It is very informative! A must-have for any Bones lover!

Can't wait for Season 3 to be released. Great going Amazcon. Service as always fantastic.

For anyone who is a fan of the TV shows Bones, this book is a must. There are lots of little anecdotes about the actors as well as information on each of the season one and season two episodes.

This book is a great insider's guide to the inner-workings of the Hollywood machine. I found it not only enlightening and helpful, but entertaining as well. The author often illustrates a point or principle with personal anecdotes that brings the issue to life. In fact, I wish he'd done this with virtually every subject he discussed. He also dwells heavily in the world of pitch meetings: how to get the meeting, how to prepare, what to do, even what to wear (not a suit) and how to sit (not on the couch if possible).

Lent goes into great detail on the function of all the major cogs in the movie-making wheel: producers, directors, actors, agents, managers, creative executives, and more. For those of us with a script to sell but little in the way of industry know-how this is an invaluable course.

On the downside, I'm sure most people reading this book are relatively new to the business and the first questions on their mind are: "Do I need an agent, and how do I get one?" Lent, in my opinion, wrote the book in the wrong order. I would have addressed this point up front, but instead you have to wait 123 pages for your answers. And it's not just burning curiosity that would serve this order, Lent often speaks about 'your agent' in the first 100 pages as if he's assuming you've got one and I don't think that's a fair assumption. My second fault with the book is his exceedinly sparse coverage of the screenwriting contest world. This is a vital topic for new screenwriters, one he devotes an astonishingly petite 4 pages to. The topic is well represented online, but we turn to Lent, again, for an insider's view on this milieu and are very disappointed with the lack of coverage.

Overall, a quick and easy read that provides loads of useful and applicable information.

First a disclosure - I am not a screenwriter. I am an avid reader. So the fact this book didn't thrill me may mean nothing. If you're in pursuit of this dream you may have the background to assess the advice proffered.

From purely a readers point of view I think the book could flow better. I have a keen interest in most things Hollywood, and those chapters dealing with Hollywood as town were intriguing. Save The Cat! The Last Book on Screenwriting You'll Ever Need

I read this book expecting to find a lot of Hollywood gossip. Instead, it was a down to earth 'how to' guide for becoming a star-screenwriter.

Some of the suggestions are very specific to the industry. For example, how to decide when to move to Hollywood or how to get across the San Fernando valley for an interview when you don't own a car. Most of the advice is fairly general, though. Ben Franklin would approve.

The text is fast paced and entertaining. It doesn't quite read like a novel, but you will start watching for the author's name to appear on your local cinema.

Wow! Full of sound advice from experience. Michael Lent is clearly someone who pays attention to the whole process. The best part is he shares it with the rest of us! This book is fun to read from start to finish. Lent constantly encourages the reader (screenwriter) to adopt an attitude of, what I would call, "strategic humility" in their business dealings. How rare!!! This stuff helps in life too! I've never written a feature length screenplay, but I still found this book efficacious in learning the ins and outs of this goofy industry. I'm on my third reading of Michael Lent's "Breakfast with Sharks" (2-7-05), and I highly this book to any screenwriter making serious go of trying to sell his/her work.

Micheal Lent doesn't make things up. His book is filled with real life "lived" experiences.

This book is a godsend if you've a written a screenplay and have started your foray into the next scary step-selling!! "Breakfast with Sharks" will help you disciminate information and buzzwords used at screenwrinting seminars and help decode the Hollywood Creative Directory.

My favorite section in the entire book is "Studio Notes: What They Are and How to Handle Them".

Overall a great book, insprationaly it ranks right up there with Karl Iglesias' "The 101 Habits of Hightly Successful Screenwriters".

This book is incredible. My class will be required to read it, learn it, live it! EVERY STUDENT SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO READ THIS BOOK.

It's conversational, practical, and not only do you get great advice from the authors, but from TV professionals all over the country.

Siegel and Weaver's book walks you through the entire process of finding an internship and then how to make the very best of the opportunity. Resumes, interviews, and successful phone manners are just a few of the many topics this book covers. After reading this book I found a great internship in LA and even was hired full time! Make sure to pick one up!

This book is a useful source for everyone in need of advice regarding interning in the media industry. From day one of looking for your dream internship Breaking Into Television holds your hand. This book guides you from the interview to your first day, and then into making your internship into a potential career. After reading this book you feel motivated and informed to become a "super intern".

If you are a college student majoring in television production, you know that internships are the only key to getting a career in the field. This book will be a vital asset to anyone fighting to secure an internship in the field of broadcasting.

While many of the suggestions on actions one should take and how one should behave were things I found to be common sense, it was reassuring to read them being suggested in this book, not only by the authors but by the countless TV professionals that they quoted throughout the book.

There were also several suggestions made that I wouldn't have thought of. I'm so glad that I read this book before I began my search for an internship. Now that I am in the middle of working as an intern for a local PBS station, I continue to find the book's suggestions helpful. I consult it every once in a while for new ideas.

Breaking into Televsion is one of the most useful books I have ever read. I just started an intership working for my local Senator. My friend who wants to get into television gave me this book to read before I started. Wow, this is great imformation! There is advice from just about everone in the television business who stated out as as interns. There is also advice from people who now are incharge of inters. If you are an intern or are planning on interning this is a very useful book.

The book covers the physical layer aspects of modern cable networks, in comparatively greater details than the MAC and transport layers.

The author has done an excellent job in choosing relevant details of each technology presented in the book and laying them out in an easy-to-understand manner.


Overall, it is a good reference book to have within one's reach and is a better starting point in one's understanding of cable networks, instead of searching for terms or concepts using internet search engines.

Dr. Ovadia has written a thorough and carefully researched dissertation on the end-to-end Cable TV network architecture. The book is excellent for both a high level overview of the Hybrid Fiber/Coax network as well as for an in-depth review of the various network components, including laser transmitters and optical fiber amplifiers, plant noise characterization, head-end and subscriber modems, media formats and more. There is also an overview of the Docsis protocol. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about the Cable Operator network architecture. The contents should be required knowledge for anyone involved in developing any of the components of a cable TV network.

As a non-expert in the field, "Broadband Cable TV Access Networks" is a very complete book that is well-organized and full of information. The introduction sections are very clear and setup up the rest of the book very well. It is clear that Shlomo is an expert in the field and also a very good writer that integrates difficult concepts into a readable story. On areas that Shlomo is not an expert in, the descriptions are not so complete. Sometimes, the book moves too quickly through the details, but the amount of material in the book is impressive for its size. Overall this is a very good book that holds the reader's interest.

The book "Broadband Cable TV Access Networks" by Dr. Ovadia presents both a high level overview and low level details of CATV technology. It is a well organized system engineering handbook for cable TV network. It gives an excellent introduction to the overall CATV architecture. The introduction is very descriptive and easy to understand. And then extends to rigorous technical details in transmission technologies (over both fiber and coax cable), RF and digital transceiver design, cable modem protocols, software architecture and applications. The book can be a good tutorial for people interested in CATV technology and a good reference for engineers working in the area.

I am working in MRV Communications in the field of FFTx Receivers Transceivers design, focusing in the analog side of the system video transport.

I had purchased the book and enjoyed reading it. Indeed, it is a great system engineering book covering a broad spectrum of technical subjects which I have a lot of interest. It broadened my knowledge on the arena of CATV which was new to me.
(I came from Israel from the Satellite Communications field).

It is a recommended book to any communications engineer, component engineer and system engineer dealing with fiber optics data communications and video transport.
It covers all design aspects in all perspectives, system wise and component wise.
It provides a broad review, showing the affects of RF chains and , optical links imperfections on a QAM signal in most scientific analytic and professional way.

The book is structured as a zoom-in, taking the reader from a broad picture of definitions, system architectures and topologies such as HFC, PON, zooming into each building block requirements and constrains such as optics CWDM WDM optical none linearity, pre-distortions, CATV receivers topologies , specs and optimized solution. Additionally it covers the aspects of protocols such as DOCSIS and CATV standards showing how to approach to system design, understanding its requirements in order to reach the proper design.

The books provides block diagrams, schemes plots and conclusion to each chapter subject.

Indeed Dr. Shlomo Ovadia did here a huge effort and a great job.
This book is must have in any technical library.

I did not intend to read the entire book. I was going to read the inside account of the AOL-Time Warner merger and skim the rest. However, between the breakneck pace of Ted Turner's life and the fluid writing style (kudos to co-author Bill Burke), I was quickly hooked. I read every word of "Call Me Ted."

The book skips unnecessary detail and, as a result, never bogs down. The short chapters make great breaking points, handy for people with limited reading time. An effective device used throughout the book is the "Ted Story." These are short interludes (usually less than one page) written by other people (John Malone, Ted's children, Jane Fonda, Bill Gates, even Gerald Levin, among others). The main narrative leads up to an event -- perhaps an important meeting -- then breaks for a "Ted Story." At that point the reader gets two perspectives of the same event. (I should point out that not all Ted Stories are seamlessly woven into the narrative.) One of the most amusing Ted Story breaks comes at the point where Ted decides to support the AOL-Time Warner merger. Ted writes that he sought counsel and support from four trusted friends before making the decision. The four guest writers, however, had different recollections. The first said he was on vacation in London when he spoke to Ted and was very distracted. The second said he never spoke to Ted before Ted voted and explained why he was absolutely certain of that fact. The remaining two said they spoke to Ted, but he wasn't asking for input so much as telling them what he'd done. Reminiscent of Kurosawa's "Rashomon," the book leaves the reader to sort it out.

Do not read this book expecting a scholarly treatment of Ted's life, with a heavy emphasis on psychology and motives. That is not Ted's style. Ted tells his story and, for the most part, leaves you to draw your own conclusions. I appreciated that the book was not preachy as are far too many business leader's autobiographies; it is not "How to Become a Great Success Just Like Me." After reading the book, I would accredit Turner's tremendous success in life to a sharp mind, a fearless heart, and an otherworldy amount of energy. (Though his upbringing surely had an effect on his intense drive to succeed.)

I'm old enough to remember when Ted's America's Cup antics were in the news, so many of the book's events caused me to think about my own life. Where was I living when I first heard about Ted doing such-and-such? Reading about Ted's ads with the theme "I was cable when cable wasn't cool," I was reminded of the days when cable television existed only in small, rural towns -- too far from television broadcast towers to pick up a clear signal.

Numerous lines in the book caused me to laugh out loud, especially in the latter half of the book when the focus shifts to Ted's dealings with high-profile corporate executives. Not funny but touching upon a distinction I think important, Ted briefly remarks upon the difference between those who start companies -- such as himself -- and the Harvard MBA types brought in to manage companies they had nothing to do with creating.

The brisk pace and wide scope of Ted's life is reflected in the book. With Turner's life story -- the billboard company, the SuperStation, the Atlanta Braves, the America's Cup, CNN, Jane Fonda, Time Warner, and on and on -- there's just too much ground to cover for the book to meander.

I had forgotten about what an amazing life Ted Turner has had, from winning the America's Cup (as the skipper) to winning the World Series (as an owner) and building the cable industry. His is an inspiring story and the personal side is interetsing as well.

I have read many of the big business biographies, and some are more substantive and rewarding than others. This one is worth reading. If you are interested in the history of the media business from the 1960's on, particularly in the creation of cable, you will be interested. If you are interested in entrepreneurial stories in general, I think this will be rewarding. And I think along the way you will get interested in Turner as a person as well.

I zipped through it in two nights (not because it was short but because I was interested).

If I could change the book at all I might have had him pause more and explain at greater length some of his transitions from conservative to liberal and from Christian to agnostic. That would have been interesting but I think he wanted to focus on the business stuff, which I suppose is smart.

An amazing, honest autobiography about Ted Turner's life including his accomplishments and failures. He turned a regional billboard company into a media giant. Along the way, he became an accomplished sailor, created CNN, the Goodwill Games and is the largest individual landowner plus numerous other achievements.

If you read this book you should also read Ken Auletta's profile on Ted Turner that was published in The New Yorker back in 2001. Its a intimate portrait of Ted Turner during the AOL-Time Warner merger and his breakup with Jane Fonda.

Okay, I'm striking out with "Call Me Ted" fortitude in the pursuit of one day meeting this truly "mavericky" character! Ted and co-author, Bill Burke, have constructed a deliciously endearing and boisterous autobiography which is easy-to-read and even harder-to-put-down.

There aren't many, if any, *gasp* worthy revelations and his all-or-nothing thinking on matters of population control, climate control, and geo-political profundities have been well documented via print/cable/internet; however, herein lies the winsome construct of his story: it just reads so real and so very Ted.

Page after page, I found myself chuckling aloud, quoting various portions to my family, and shaking my head in sheer amazement to his conceptual genius and flat-out tenacity.

"Just Call Me Ted" more than proves you don't have to unanimously agree with a Personality, or better stated, unanimously agree with a fellow card-carrying member of the human race to appreciate their story.

Now, if I can just wrangle a face-to-face!

I was looking forward to reading CALL ME TED, but being busy and multitasking, I decided to by the CD version.

I listen and re-listen to Ted's story. What amazed me most about this package was that Ted recorded every page of his 500 page book while recovering in the hospital - it took him 40 to 45 hours to record.

This in itself is a world breaking record to begin with. Does he understand what being tired means? I don't think so... you can hear his voice weakening in some moments, but that was the best part of why I find it inspirational.

They keep saying that his life was difficult, or his childhood was a complex one. At that time not many kids had the brightest of childhoods, but none of them were like Ted. He was about what you want for tomorrow in your life, and how you want the day after tomorrow to unfold. That is Ted Turner to me as his reader (or in this case, listener). He is a hard working, very intelligent and creative, long vision and determined, most honest, loving, caring, and a patriot to the core. What is most important, Ted Turner, achieved all of this alone, he created ideas all alone, he managed to make it happen all alone, and he stands all alone. I read almost every biography of successful people and by far this one tops them all. I am very thankful to be able to read someone's life as great as his in a most straight to the point and yet inspiring way. Whatever happens behind closed doors in his real life, this is what we need to see and read, to feel inspired, and this book did it for me. Thank you.
