This book is full of alot of very useful information, it has alot of tips for someone preparing to go cruising.

This book is a touching work of bog science, written as though from the perspective of a bog person triumvirate of brothers. Throughout the text there are poignant examples of how bog mummies are people too. In fact, once you read this book, you will never walk through a bog in that careless way you used to. Herein lies the book's single major flaw: in bogwalking, which I usually do on Friday afternoons, I found that I was less inclined to search for bog souveniers because of my newfound respect for popular bog culture. A selfish drawback, to be sure, but one whose benefits I sorely miss. "Bogotry" is truly one of the ancient prejudices along with antisemitism and misogyny that causes people to overlook bog people's feelings and make unwarranted jerky jokes. Bog people are people too; it's why they're called bog people instead of bog monsters. The unfair treatment by the media must end! With the Coles brothers to lead us, let us have The Bog Revolution. Bog be praised.

This book was extremely useful in that the first 5 chapters and a few more in the back completely covered basic calculus, analytical geometry, probability theory, economics and queing theory before you progress to the models the authors are exploring. Being out of school for several years, it was a great way to bring me back up to speed with the theoretical framework I needed. Analysis is made concerning Worldscale rates, market drivers on the spot and term market, as well as the interaction between the newbuild and scrapping market in determining supply of ships. Tramp and liner economics are also examined in sufficient detail to show the effects of minor changes in voyage estimates over the life of a voyage and across a fleet.

This book reviews the art of roof and ground catchment systems for rainwater. The water collected can be used for household or other purposes. The designs are aimed for individuals with limited access to electricity and/or civic water utilities. The text includes drawings, photographs and step-by-step instructions.

One might say the book is really written for the 'aid worker' since it also considers ethnic and gender issues that would be 'obvious' to the future owners of the the systems.

If you want to build something for yourself, you might be interested in reading "Rainwater Collection for the Mechanically Challenged", by Richard Heinichen and Suzy Banks. Another book is "Gardening Without Water: Creating Beautiful Gardens Using Only Rainwater" by Charlotte Green. The first is really for the mechanically inclined.

We bought this book while vacationing at Cape Cod. Using a question and answer format, the book clearly and simply explains many facts about the ocean and ocean life -- at exactly the right level for kids. Just enough info, not too much.

My five and eight year old kids loved it and so did I.

After being about 20 years in the Shipping Industry, this book made me realize that there are still lot of things to learn and try them out in the day-today vessel management. Specially I liked the finance section, which contains a detailled veiw on vessel financing, as we all know this is the toughest part in this capital intensive business. The writer missed to give examples/case study of ship management in the real world.

What a unique concept! All your crucial nautical information (from boat mechanics to "mortal" necessities) all recorded in a keepsake book. Boating is the highlight of our annual family vacations. Now with the aid of the Ship's Log we will be sure to document the details of our daily "escapades". I intend to send this book to our family's "captain" right away. My thanks to John Kokulis for creating a vehicle to chronicle priceless family memories.

Generations of engineers, and not a few chemists and physicists either, have depended on this book as the standard reference for the properties of water.

This is the 1969 edition, and there is no more recent edition. Which should give you some idea of how definitively the authors described their subject.

Perhaps the only suggestion for improvement is for a CD version that has the tables in some XML format that can be easily integrated into a computer program. Notice that this is different from other books which might have a CD version that duplicates the contents of the hardcopy. There, the CD's main advantage might be the ability to have a comprehensive all-word index. Here, where most of the book are tables of numbers, that need is not really relevant. Instead, where there are tables, the best use of CD would be to hold XML formatted tables.

To be honest this book was better than I thought it would be. I like research type books it does this pretty well. Author does a good job on sign and sign reading. He has some weird stuff in it too . A deer density technique of spray painting piles turds then go back 24 hr later and count the unpainted turd piles divided by the number of time a deer defecate's each day to give you your deer population. A little to labor intensive and disruptive for me.

This book is very well organized and easy to read. It is full of useful alternatives to the standard treatment alternatives taught in school. Clear drawings, cited resources and abundant numerical data make utilizing the material in this book very straight forward.
