David Wagner has long been recognized as the leading expert and art historian on the wildlife art genre. For the first time a totally comprehensive work has been done on the entire history of this popular art form. David spent 15 years researching this amazing book, which is truly a work of art in and of itself. A must for a collectors, artists, gallery owners or anyone else interested in the field.

The Art Institute at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is always looking for books to add to our library about wildlife art. American Wildlife Art is the most comprehensive book on the subject that we have come across. It is thorough in its scope and fills a gap in the history of wildlife art in the US, because the information is comprehensive and all in one book. More than just facts; it gives an historical context for this genre of art that is actually interesting to read. It is a large book and cannot be read over a week-end but the information it contains makes it a must-have tome for any library. We have chosen this book as the textbook for our program. It serves as both a reference and adventure story helping students see the role that wildlife art has played in forming our national perception of our wildlife heritage...and the pictures are pretty terrific too.

David Wagner did much of his research in our small public library. Now that his book has been published and in our collection, I am pleased to say that it is checked out almost continuously, and for good reason. American Wildlife Art is a wonderful example of excellent research, exceptional writing and breathtaking illustrations. Although I am neither an art historian, nor an artist, I do recognize and appreciate beautiful art, and good writing presented in a clear, concise, interesting manner. This is an exceptional book written by an author who obviously knows and loves his subject. I highly recommend it.

In the interest of full disclosure, the author is a friend who wrote the introduction to my own book and curated my one-man traveling exhibition. That said, no one is better equipped to write this book, and the finished product is a testament to his deep knowledge. The entire history of wildlife art on the North American continent is here, beginning with the first European invasions and the work of such early Euro-American artists as the 16th-century Jaques Le Moyne, to Robert Bateman and the other 20th century artists whose work served as a foundation upon which was built the marketing phenomenon that is contemporary wildlife art. Between those bookends, I'm at a loss to find anything missing, from the explorer-artists like Catesby and Audubon, through the naturalist-illustrators like Fuertes and Jaques, the sporting artists and everything in between. The stories are rich in detail, describing the trials and motivations that shaped the works that would inspire future artists and movements. Throughout, the book is illustrated with plates that are well selected and well reproduced.

"American Wildlife Art", by David J. Wagner, is a truly remarkable achievement. The scope of this book is unprecedented, as it covers nearly four centuries of artists, works, trends, and significance to the conservation movement. As a Signature Member of the Society of Animal Artists (and also a current member of the Executive Board), and a life-long fan of wildlife art in general... I couldn't wait to add a copy to my library. As expected, "American Wildlife Art" is packed with information and wonderful photos of art work... but I was delighted to find that it is also very reader-friendly. David Wagner has done a masterful job of putting together huge volumes of information into a lively and interesting text, which makes thoroughly enjoyable reading. "American Wildlife Art" is more than simply a great resource, or a coffee table book full of pretty pictures - this book is a MUST HAVE for every individual that loves wildlife art.

This is an essential book for any physicians or other medical personnel interested in evidence based medicine and reading of the medical literature. It is extremely well written and presents the materials in a coherent and understandable manner. It uses excellent examples to illustrate its points. We are using this text to introduct our first year medical residents to clinical epidemiology.

Clinical Epidemiology has been considered the new 'Basic Science' to medical students. This book offers a excelent approach to main problems found by beginners in this vast field of knowledge like how to deal with Statistics and with the huge number of papers published. With a easy language this book is good option to get started in this branch of Medicine now called the 'Science of the Art'.

Essential textbook for health care professionals!

Clinical Epidemiology has become a core element in the understanding and treatment of human illness. Defined as a method of generating valid conclusions from clinical observations, clinical epidemiology arms health practitioners with skills essential for modern health care. As a Physical Therapist (PT) I am often asked to render a diagnosis based on clinical hypotheses with "soft" measurements like pain, distress and function loss; how can I ensure that my diagnosis is correct? Traditional practice encourages the health care student to believe that knowing enough anatomy & physiology will somehow optimise health care outcomes. This book not only challenges that view but it also arms the reader with the knowledge and applicable skills to interpret research and also to ensure that any work you carry out is robust and in keeping with EBM principles. A highly recommended text and great value for money. A must for lecturers, student PT's and anyone who wonders how they can improve their critical analysis of health care practice. Don't treat patients without a copy on your shelf (assuming of course you read it...osmosis is NOT a recognised learning tool).

The authors explain the basic principles and basic concepts of clinical epidemiology in a clear and understandable way. Examples for each subject make reading pleasant and easy, contrary to what one may expect in a book of this kind.
I recommend it for every person who is related to the health sciences and interested in obtaining the best out of medical literature.

The book Sarah T. Portraite of a teenage alcoholic was a really good book. I really enjoyed reading about how Sarah struggled through everyday life and the problems that she faced everyday. It was really touching to read about her schedule of everyday life and how she coped with a new family and her drinking problem. It was very hard for her to finally admit that she did indeed have a problem. Even her mother wouldn't admit that she had a problem. But in the end it all worked out and she got the help she needed along with a few friends!

It was a good book to read I liked it a lot

I liked this book because some of my family members like to drink some alcoholic because they think its fun to do.They hang out at bars and some of their friends to go drinking. It's wrong when her dad threw her out on the street when she was cought drinking, because he should have sat down with her and talked to her asked her why she drinks.I felt the book was alright and I would recamend it to some of my classmates in my class to read.I think she was way to young to start drinking at her age.She should of been at least 17 or 18 to start to drink.

This book was AMAZING. I never would have thought it would change me the way it did. I am not an alcoholic. I have had maybe two drinks in my whole life. My english teacher recommended this book to me. I was reluctant at first, but I am so glad I decided to read it. Near the last chapter I wanted to bawl my eyes out. I couldnt put the book down. I STRONGLY recommend this book to everyone. It is awesome and diserves 6 stars. Wow.

A great help!

I had to read this book because I had to write a paper about alcoholics. This book was a great help and it reads very easy and quick. I also had to present the book in class and they all thought it is a wonderfull book. The subject is realistic and also a bit shocking because most people think alcoholics are adults and not teenagers.

I had to read this book in Language Arts class. I thought this would be like any other book we have read, uninteresting and boring. But, I was wrong. I really enjoyed reading this book. It made me open my eyes and understand that teen-age alcoholism is a serious problem in America today. This is an awesome book for people of all ages. Hey, im only 13 and i enjoyed it!

I found this book several years ago at the public library. It delivers just what it promises, a useful method for improving circulation, health and thereby skin tone and color. Using this method provides a viable alternative to surgery. It's longer lasting, relaxing, non-invasive and cost-effective. A valuable book for anyone committed to self-responsible self-maintenance.

Because it's out of print, I've borrowed this book again several times since. I've also looked for something simliar to purchase, but nothing comes close. Alas!

I discovered "New Beauty: The Acupressure Facelift" about five months ago and have practiced Lindsay's acupressure methods nearly every day since. I have noticed great results! I love this book and wish it would be re-printed. She provides a wonderful alternative to surgical facelifts--something plastic surgeons certainly wouldn't like! Still, I think all women should be able to learn about the benefits of facial massaging and exercises and decide for themselves if this method is right for them. It IS right for me.

I found this book highly detailed and very very informative. The authors not only did an excellent job of clearly explaining the differences between the 4 basic styles but showed all the many many colors , shades and tints .I especially liked and found interesting, all the little notes and stories of the background of how and why some of these changes came about. The high quality paper and clear photos make the pictures jump out at you right off the page. The photo effectiveness really shines thru, when it came to showing all the various tints and shades of the same color. The pictures were not only close and clear but very vivid. I especially liked the authors simple, straight forward and very effective way that they cataloged these various changes. This easy, open ended system, allows more additions to be included later when they are found. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK. Kudos to the authors, for taking, what had to be a huge amount of man hours to bring this much needed book to the next level . I predict this will be the Barclay " bible " for identifying the small Transports.

This book intelligently presents the most important and interesting eye-witness accounts of the early Bayreuth festivals, by such musical luminaries as Tchaikovsky and Grieg, and a host of other interested observers. These documents, while often quoted, are hard to find, and are impossible to find in any other single source.

Be sure the check out Mark Twain's superbly satiric "At the Shrine of Saint Wagner," on his attempts to enjoy Parsifal in the hot, dusty town with few restaurants and fewer hotel rooms!

As a college student majoring in Economics, I was privileged to study with two of the authors of this book. However I read this book not as part of a curriculum but as side-reading. Having read several books on the Middle East (and being well familiar with the area including some undergraduate research), I can safely say that it is one of the most insightful books written on the subject.

The authors bring their expertise and familiarity with three different disciplines (anthropology, international relations and economics), combined with thorough on-site research. This extremely well-written book traces the history of conflict in the Middle East, the high and low points, the personalities who positively or negatively shaped the course of Middle Eastern history.

I believe it is recommended reading for any person today who wants to understand the Middle East better and who wants to increase their awareness of the global village we all are citizens of. More importantly though, this book should be recommended reading for future researchers, scholars and teachers as a guide to 'understanding, studying and researching a new culture or a differnet people'.

The techniques used in researching this topic truely do justice to a topic, which is very difficult to research, and write about, while maintaining brevity, objectivity and yet, not sacrificing thoroughness of research.

An excellent book, a must-have for academics and people who want to have a deeper understanding of the Middle East as well as become familiar with the unique style and techniques of research utilized in this work.
