Always loved this movie and can't believe it's not on DVDReview Date: 2007-10-04
One of the funniest movies EVER by ANYONE ! NOT ON DVD ???Review Date: 2003-10-25
As one who has seen all of John's work, I was flabbergasted to find this film at, or near the bottom of his film's popularity list. I can only attribute this awsome oversight to the fact that it hasn't been released on DVD. Why? Perhaps the 1984 release date? Or could it be a conspiracy by some "Anti-Candy-ite"? Who knows.
I am one who seldom, if ever, cares to see a film more than once, regardless of how great it might be, but "Going Berserk" changed all that. This non-stop roller coaster ride thru the most bizzare mis-adventure ever to befall human kind, is one I can't get enough of!
I daresay that if ya can't get it on DVD, Buy the VHS, and use that as an excuse to buy a DVD recorder as well!

Hilarious! Stellar Cast & One of Candy's Best!Review Date: 2006-08-20
Featuring a stellar cast, this is one movie you'll enjoy watching over and over again.
If you are lucky enough, also record it on TV--there was a different version made for television (cleaned up, of course), but the TV version features different scenes from the theatrical release.
Please release this on DVD!!!Review Date: 2003-06-09

Three viewings of "Dazed and Confused" not enough? This book is for you!Review Date: 2006-08-29
And this book adds to the fun. Plenty of real live Mad Magazine stuff, real live ads from the time period, with a bunch of side splittingly funny made up stuff based on the characters from DAC. Enjoyed the heck out of this book. Just wish it was longer so my trip through memory lane could go on another hour or so.
Great stuff! Where's Wooderson today, by the way?
JUST AWESOME - I LOVE THIS BOOK!Review Date: 2004-06-07
What I especially liked about Dazed And Confused the movie was the way Linklater managed to sneak in some profound truths about life amidst the nostalgia. In the book, the most profound and honest part is Linklater's introduction where he writes: "Let's face it, no matter where you live no matter at what time high school is a light prison sentence to be served. Once paroled, you don't look back".
From that point on, any social observation basically goes out the window as we are treated to a crash course in all things 70s as well as stuff related to the movie itself. All of the major characters are profiled and there are excerpts of a yearbook page from the high school they attend. Although it might seem redundant to most people, die hard fans of the film should enjoy it. Pick up a copy! Also recommended -------> The Losers Club by Richard Perez, an offbeat small press novel that you will truly dig. Like far out!

Prilla and the Butterfly Lie (A Stepping Stone Book(TM)) Review Date: 2007-12-29
Thanks for a GREAT book!!!
A magical delightReview Date: 2007-08-23
The story tells a gentle lesson about honesty. To avoid having to help her friend Nettle with the boring job of shearing caterpillars, the fairy Prilla tells a white lie and says that she likes butterflies better. This leads to a day of herding butterflies, when everything goes wrong.
The best parts of the story, however, don't come from its plot, but its descriptions of the fairies' day-to-day lives. They use caterpillar fuzz for their clothing and bedding. Every morning, they each get a level teacup of fairy dust, which is "shivery and cool" as it settles on their heads and shoulders.
The book is quality production in every way. The cover shows the redheaded fairy with her wings slightly textured and sprinkled with sparkles. The pages have a nice matte feel, and are sprinkled with intricate and delicate color illustrations.
The Disney Fairies series presents an interesting, lovely fantasy world for young girls to imagine. It's not too sappy sweet, since the fairies do make mistakes and and one of them, Vidia, is a real snip.

This book goes into more detail than is perhaps required in first year medicine. However, I found it worth trying to read through because I find biochem one of those subjects where its difficult to just have a simplified explanation of things, sometimes the gaps in a simplified text mean nothing makes sense at all. In that case you may as well have put in the extra time to get the full story.
I found this book well laid out with excellent diagrams that sum up important relationships in biochem in a very accessible way. Unlike some review format books this one maintained a thread of explanation and I did not find myself becoming lost despite the complexity of the subject.
In all one of the best laid out effective, and clear textbooks Ive ever come across in many years of studies.

Disclaimer: I am writing this review from the point of view of a first year medical student, having taken a fairly detailed course in undergrad biochemistry.
Having said that, I find Lippincott's Illustrated Biochemistry one of the best books written on the subject. The main advantage of using Lippincott's is in its concise and clear language. It explains almost everything you need to know about medical biochemistry in a very easy to understand language, with the help of some great illustrations. I absolutely love the chapter summaries and the concept maps at the end of the chapter - very useful for a quick review. Highly recommended for a medical students!
Great, Even for the Non-Med StudentReview Date: 2008-01-07
On metabolism, I certainly feel like I have a better, truer understanding of my body's different modes of operation specifically the role each part plays, especially the liver. I haven't seen the cycles presented in this book elseware, mind you I haven't been looking too hard either.
As to my diet, the section on the feed/fast cycles reinforced my belief that more frequent smaller meals are the way to go. I've reduced my protein intake based on the information about the Amino Acid pool and how anything not used is excreated.
For suppliments I've actually increased my use. I re-introduced creatine based on the section which shows how it is used to turn ADP back into ATP and also began taking Alpha Lipoic Acid again. I am continuing my use of Glutamine and I've added Arginine and Acetyl L-Carnitine.
Will any of this help? Who knows, but if nothing else it'll keep me interested and motivated.

The audio and video is the best I have ever seen it on this tranfer.

A must own for "The Jerk" fans that do not have Universal HD from their cable provider.

I haven't seen the HD version but I wouldn't be surprise if universal utilized the 1.33:1 DVD and just pan scan with wide screen to resell it.
For those that own this Anniversary Issue, I would seek a refund from Universal. They should write everyone a check by hand, just like Nathan Johnson had to do in the movie.

How well do you know your spouse?Review Date: 2008-04-11
When psychiatrist Dr. Susan Harriot is convicted of murdering her patient, Andrew Gow, husband Lachlan frantically searches for proof of her innocence amongst her papers and computer files in her home office. Gow was a self-confessed serial rapist-killer whose modus operandi was eerily duplicated on two other victims while he was in prison. This and Gow's insistence on his innocence and that the confession was made under duress result in his release. Shortly after, he is found murdered and his new wife, Donna, has vanished, presumed dead as well. Prosecution contended that Susie had been having an affair with Gow, and in a fit of rage over being passed over for Donna, had killed him. Lachlan doesn't believe any of it. He knows his Susie. Or does he?
Deception is a story not just of murder, but of a marriage in peril and what we choose (or not) to divulge to those we're most intimate with. As he realizes how little he knows his wife, Lachlan writes: "It seems all we learned to do during our marriage is not talk." Susie kept her secrets well, so well that if Lachlan doesn't discover them his wife will languish in prison for life.
I will admit the diary format with the inclusion of transcripts, clippings, reports, etc. can be rather tiresome. After about 200 pages of it, my mind was wandering. Lachlan writes about everything--the incremental discoveries he makes (which are critical to the story) and the minutiae of his everyday life since Susie was convicted. I suppose the steady stream of consciousness ramblings lost its novelty for me after 30 chapters. The last few chapters were, however, the meat of the story and I devoured them in short order. The ending was fantastic and the resolution satisfying. There are some humorous bits as well which I thought were caustically hilarious. Altogether, a satistactory read.

Secrets behind closed doors ..Review Date: 2007-12-29
Lachlan Harriot is seeking evidence of his wife Susie's innocence following her conviction for the murder or a paroled serial killer who had been under her psychiatric care.
In Susie's home office, which Lachlan has previously been forbidden to enter, he discovers a disturbing documentary history: transcripts of conversations, photographs, letters and files.
What is the truth? And who, utimately, survives?
While this is Denise Mina's fourth novel,it is only the second I have read. I am keen to read the rest.
