This book is wonderful for teaching people how to relax and cope with stress. It has practical exercises for learning the different techniques.
Workbook covers such topics as: body awareness, breathing, progressive relaxation, meditation, visualization, autogenics, self-hypnosis, refuting irrational ideas, thought stopping, worry control, goal and time
managment, assertiveness training, job stress management, nutrition, exercise and how to stay on track with a stress management program. I've had therapists tell me they use this book all the time in their practice. I'm currently using it as a guide for people in my Wellness Recovery Program. The exercises are easy to teach and practical to use.

Well written. A great how-to for beginners. Finally a self-help book that tells the reader "how" to do something rather than a diatribe of how wonderful the author is and why the information is important. Workbook is easy to follow. I'm very happy with it.

This book is a wonderful resource for any clinician. No matter the reason a patient is coming in for therapy, I eventually use this book with him/her. The book is worth it for the breathing chapter alone. I really like the layout of the book. You can read the book straight through or just go to the chapter that is of importance for your patient (time management, etc.).

I didn't read this book myself, but purchased it for a friend who, due to a chronic medical condition caused solely by stress, needs to change not only his lifestyle but his thought process and self identity. He tells me this book opened his eyes to how stressful his life truly is, and found many of the suggestions and techniques helpful in the beginning process of identifying stressful behavior, and taking the first baby steps in changing that behavior. For him, however, the major changes may have to come through therapy, but for those for whom a relatively simple lifestyle change will bring improvement, this book appears to be the ticket.

Sure we're all stressed a little now and then, but when the stress REALLY starts to build up and becomes too much, consider this little helper. An oversized volume (making it much easier to read), this book contains not one, but MANY different ways of reducing your stress- that's why its called a workbook. And this is precisely what makes this book such a gem- there's virtually something in it for everyone. If you don't like one technique, no problem, just go to the next chapter and try another one until you find one that suits you.

A handy book that should help de-stress a lot of people, I give it 5 stars easy. Can also recommend The Sixty-Second Motivator for readers who have trouble getting motivated to do healthy things regularly- like practice relaxation techniques!

My 2 y/o LOVES the musical tune of this book and the silly rhyming is great!

This is a sweet, fun book that children of all ages will like. My 8 month old nephew likes it because of the lights and sounds, and a friend's 6 year old likes it because of the silly rhymes. I have purchased 4 for various children now. Recommended for everyone!!!!!

This book has delighted my daughter and I from the day we got it. When she was younger it was the lights and music she loved, but now that she's older, she also loves the message inside. I love to hear her quote the book because it is filled with loving words. It took about three years for the battery to go, and we quickly replaced it. I have recently purchased a copy for a friend as a baby gift and already they love it too.

I love this book It is my favorite for my grandson but when I ordered it for somebody else for a gift it arrived with dead batteries so the lights and the song didn't work. I couldn't return the book because I didn't have it! Adoreable book but no good without the batteries!!!

This is the third celiac book I have read since diagnosis and the best one so far. The authors do an excellent job of explaining what celiac is who gets it, and why it is difficult to get diagnosed. The information is presented clearly, in well-defined categories, and without resorting to jargon.

Symptoms are described in great detail, with other possible diagnoses given for each. Unlike other books which essentially tried to pin every symptom known to man to gluten, this book offers much more balanced information.

for those already diagnosed, there is much helpful information, including not only foods to avoid but much dispelling of myth about foods which are safe to eat despite common assumptions. The authors also discuss 'survival' strategies for coping with dietary limitations, what to do with celiac children, even the current state of celiac research.

This book is an excellent resource and I ezxpect I will return to it many times.

This book contains all you need to know about celiac disease. Dr. Peter Green's book is a great resource for those who want to learn more about the disease's symptoms, testing, diagnosis, and disease management. It also describes other diseases associated with CD. Although written by a doctor, the book is written in layman's terms. If you suspect you have celiac disease or are gluten intolerant, this is a valuable read.

This book is excellent if you want to understand your condition although I would prefer if it went into some more detail... it generallly touches upon all the key subjects a coeliac might want to address but again you might end up wanting to hear more.

I have tremendous respect for Peter Green, perhaps one day we could see an expanded version of this book.

Get this book first if you think you might be having a problem with gluten. I haven't read any other book that is better than this one. Easy to read, and gives all the information you are going to need to get diagnosed correctly, as many doctors don't understand how to diagnose celiac or gluten sensitivity. You can take this book with you to the doctor and avoid arguments- Dr. Green is a top doctor in his field at Columbia University Medical Center, so your doctor should give weight to what he says. If you are newly diagnosed, this book will also provide you with a good understanding of the process of the disease and how to manage it.

Anyone diagnosed with Celiac Disease must read this book. It is informative, enlightening, and clearly explains why symptoms are not properly addressed and why the autoimmune disease goes undiagnosed for years. Early diagnosis is critially important for the prevention of serious complications. The information gleaned from this book empowers you with knowledge that is priceless! Truly, a great book!

After reading the stellar reviews I purchased this book for my 13 year old sister. All I can say is "Blah". This is some of the lamest young fantasy I have ever read, needless to say she never got this book. Falling prey to a host of storybook and fashion cliches Emily the spunky loveable red-head, Adriane the quiet and mysterious raven haired guide at the Raven's Wood Animal Preserve, and Kira the blonde valley girl princess tromp about in a terribly typical manner discovering magic from another world and befriending a host of magical animal companions. Perhaps I've been spoiled by J.K.Rowling, but Rachel/Shelly Roberts writes as though the young women reading these books are stupid. Upon reading "Circles In The Stream" I was a little surprised that it was considered appropriate reading for a 13 year old!

On a less negative note, if you have a little girl about 7-10 that enjoys reading- this will be right up her alley. Certainly not a classic novel but one that is a "safe" fantasy book that younger readers can handle with ease. For all you not so little girls out there try "Howl's Moving Castle"- a charming fantasy novel and love story- or if you prefer a series Dragonsong, Dragonsinger, and Dragondrums are an excellent age-appropriate set of fantasy novels.

I loved it! Emily is this new girl in town and is lonely but doesn't mind as her mom is a vet so spends most of her time with animals. As she gets adjusted to the town one day this sick animal comes with these brutal green gashes that everybody thinks is pioson. Not just that but dogs are soon found dead by the wildlife perserve. Emily decides to explore until she finds a stone that later turns beautiful like in all differnet rainbow colours. She later meets a girl Adriane and becomes fast friends. They learn to except the magic that entered their lives and most of all they learn that magic is strongest when your friends are there to help, and not to mention a magical world with evil lurking everywhere.

this is probably my favorite book of the whole series!(not that i've read them all) It's great, great, great! So...I would defintely reccomend this to any1!

A boy, Digory, and a girl, Polly, are friends who have a secret place by Digory's uncle's attic, and they accidentally stumble into his attic. Digory's uncle is a magician and he uses Digory and Polly as an experiment on his newest trick. He brought them to a different world and when they came back, Digory's uncle went with them for a second trip and ended up in a place called Narnia. They met talking animals and the king of the beasts have a mission for Digory and Polly. When they finish, they find out a witch has followed them and she is trying to take over that world. Digory and Polly make things a little easier on the animals, and bring Digory's uncle back home. Digory's mother was very sick, so he and Polly went back and got some healing medicine for her, but will it work?

Ashleigh is worried about Wonder after failing to get trained by somebody other than Ashleigh. When Wonder's trainer gives up, Ashleigh tries to train Wonder and soon she succeeds. At first Ashleigh was worried because Wonder threw her. It was hard for her to believe that the horse she had raised would do such a thing. When Wonder proved she could be a racehorse like her owner had hoped, he agreed to let Ashleigh train her thoroughly. Asheigh couldn't have been more happier till a jockey friend, Jilly, was chosen to race Wonder. The End.

This is a amazing book about hope for a little filly that only one girl has. Any horse crazy girl should read this book.

This is the second installment in the amazing Thoroughbred series. In this book, Wonder has been put into yearling training under a rough trainer. Jennings thinks that Wonder has been babied all her life and it's high time she learned to be treated like a race horse. Wonder becomes a totally different horse as she he manhandled and whipped. Ashleigh and Charlie can see that this sort of "training" is ruining Wonder before she even has a chance to prove herself on the track.

When Charlie and Ashleigh are given permission to exercise Wonder over the winter, they begin to plan a way to undo all that Wonder had been through. Ashleigh was terrified of her filly at first because Wonder was beyond control. It took a lot of guts and perseverance for her to climb up on that filly's back after she'd been thrown. The end result of all their hard work? Wonder was able to turn around and become the amazing horse that Charlie and Ashleigh had seen since the day she was born.

This book is a perfect example of why the Thoroughbred series must be saved! This series began with so much promise during the Ashleigh/Sammy years. Yes, the series has changed many authors and there have been some major bumps in the road, but the faithful readers of the TB series can see through all that to what promise the series still has. There are new characters and plots that could be made into great new books, but Harper Collins is planning to end publishment of this series after book #72. This book saw it coming.It was well ahead of it's time. Hundreds of my fellow employess were able to avoid the recent corporate incompetence and mismanagement by implementing the cultural changes detailed in the book. A must read to adapt to the new business ethics for running a sucessful company.

Have fun reading this book while you learn where your sales organization can avoid the pitfalls of growth. The authors write in a style that is fun, yet makes very important points about how to make a business successful. I have used this book with my small business clients to show them how to anticipate problems that inevitably arise as their business grows. This book had a great deal of credibility with me, because I have seen clients go through exactly the successes and problems that are described.

It's a quick read, yet every chapter points out ways that we can either be successful or not successful, depending upon the decisions we make. The authors cover the functions at just about every management level, so no matter where you stand in the hieracrchy, you will benefit by reading the book.

I'd recommend this to both large and small busineses. For the small business, there is important information here whether you are just starting up, or are experiencing the inevitable pain of growth. Large organizations will recognize themselves also, and will benefit from the tips provided about how to manage your culture to be more effective.

At last I know what I am. It was fun to figure out my role and comforting to know it's OKAY to be something besides the Hunter. A village needs all kinds. If you want to know how YOU fit into the grand scheme of things in your village, I recommend this book.

This book explains in details on how to make beads and just the basics of setting up your own torch, etc.

This book is just fantastic for the beginner. Fully illustrated step by step, it takes you through the basic steps of how to get started lampworking, and what you can make. Working with glass needs to be experienced, so while no book can substitute for classes, this book INSPIRES you to explore the subject further. Just great!

The book was very good at describing in broad terms how to make your first glass bead as well as some of the general things you need to know about flameworking beads and the equipment neccessary. "Making Glass Beads" did not provide the detailed pictures and instructions for each step that would have been very helpful as a neophyte. However,"The Complete Book of Glass Beadmaking" by Kimberley Adams provides detailed step by step instructions with pictures of what you should be seeing as you form your first bead. Now that I have completed several successfully "Making Glass Beads" is a worthwhile book to have.

This is an excellent book. I've had it for a long time and decided to buy one for my grandson. He is just getting started in bead making. The instructions are very good, with a lot of pictures to show you how to do the techniques. I would recommend this book to anyone getting started in glass bead making.

This is a great step-by-step 'how-to' book. The explanations and pictures are very detailed. I feel like I am prepared and know everything I need to know to get started making glass beads!

I am an adult and have just discovered this jewel. I have to say, I loved it. Of course, it's not like Koontz's adult books, but it's not designed to be. The tale held my attention and I loved the characters, especially Amos.

This is a good book for younger children who want to be a little scared, but not too much and the message is timeless.

It is a nice story, with a definite "good" advise for kids. I think it would make a good introductory book for youngsters into the "suspense/horror" genre.

I have been looking for a copy of this book for years. It was the 2nd book I read by Koontz and fell in love with it. I had read it over several times and fell into the story and art work everytime. Even though it's been over 10 years since I've last seen or read the story, I remember it as if I read it last week. I only wish it was more available for others to enjoy as well. This is definately a story for those who are still a child at heart.

I remember reading this book when I was 10, it's stuck with me ever since. Now with kids of my own I can only appricate the story's plot more. I love this story and am only sadden to know that it is no longer in print for other adults and children to enjoy cheaply.

I read this book to my kids when they were little, sometime around 1990 I think. We had just moved into a new house( another Navy Move) and of course the children were in new surroundings. My wife was working nights and I was fortunate to be at home with the kids. My children and myself loved the story and it has remained one of their favorite memories of childhood.(Not the only book I ever read to them of course) Even tho' the book is not all sugar and spice its wonderful illustrations helped tremendously. I'm not a fan of Koontz particularly, as I think most of his books are the same tired old things, but I think this book is great for the young and the old.

I'm not a kid anymore, but it wasn't long ago that my two were teenagers who experienced angst at every turn. So it wasn't hard to relate to this boy raised in a foster home who seemingly makes good only to feel his new love and security ripped from his reach at every turn. Amid his celebrity status, hero father, teenager Gus Gonzales emerges the true hero of this story, a worthy, smart protagonist and amateur sleuth of amazing proportions. For anyone who loves to see character growth, among an amazing California backdrop of celebrities, glamour and a page-turning who dun it, Desert Blood is a fantastic read and one I couldn't put down.

I was hooked right away, even with the prologue. Nicely done.
Rich and well-developed characters. I never guessed who done it.

I am a librarian who runs a small public library in rural New Mexico and who loves to read teen literature and mysteries. Once I started Desert Blood 10pm/9c, I found it difficult to put down. I quickly came to care about the main characters, Nick and Gus and Lalo. Nick's movie star status and the fast pace of the mystery as it evolves have appeal for teens. This is an entertaining book that I will be recommending to our teen readers during this year's summer reading program. It is great fun and I will be looking forward to any sequels to get to know Nick and Gus better.

I'm not a kid reviewer, but I couldn't figure out to post a review otherwise. (Which proves I'm not a kid!) As one of the Regional Advisors for the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, I read LOTS of books for young people. DESERT BLOOD is first rate! I love these characters and want to see lots more of them. Fun and quick to read. Appealing in every way. Ronald Cree wrote a winner!

I recently had the privilege of meeting Ronald Cree and reading Desert Blood 10pm/9c. I work in a library advising a teen group and this is the kind of novel that appeals to girls and boys, avid and reluctant readers. It is a fast paced and exciting book that keeps you guessing right up to the end.
His characters are believable, and the backgound appealing.
Make sure you don't skip the prologue....it really is the first chapter!

I read this book as a kid and adored it. I go back and re-read it, and it's every bit as fascinating and powerful now as it was then, but even though I've read it at least 8 times, I still pick up new subtelties every time I read it. It's a great book.

Wonderful book. Have self prescribed a good laugh or cry each day. Now many days ahead.
At first did not read between lines for emotions, much. Now on 4th re-read and is better each time. First read somewhat terse, emotional-less, last read totally opposed.

Having read and re-read most of the best-known works of apocalyptic and dystopian science fiction, I was reduced a while back to reading second-rate works, some of which are pulp or at least border on it. Never having heard of David R. Palmer, I opened his twenty-five year old book Emergence expecting another near-pulp experience . . . and was immediately captivated. I was greeted by Candy Smith-Foster, a winsome 11-year-old whiz kid of a girl, sardonic and vulnerable by turns, writing in an abbreviated form of shorthand (sans articles and occasionally nouns to save time and space), and utterly endearing. Candy's character, and the literary devices Palmer uses to create and convey it, are alone worth the read. The plot, too, is engaging, if not outstanding, and is also noteworthy for its ceaseless optimism and hope even in the face of repeated danger and tragedy. Having begun this book by bracing myself for pulp, I now consider it one of my favorite books of the genre. Highly recommended.

Emergence is an inspiring and often touching book about a very intelligent girl, who must deal with a post Nuclear/Biological war world. As others have noted, there are similarities in feel to Heinlein's juveniles. However, I feel there are too many deus ex machina points that provide cracks in an otherwise excellent story to give it a full five stars. Palmer's attraction to the superhuman proved a dooming weakness in his second novel with an adult protagonist, but here it's still workable. I believe it was John W. Campbell who observed that it's all but impossible for human authors to write about the superhumans, save at the beginning of their rise in childhood, or during their final faltering decline during old age. Emergence handles a gifted child well.

Generally hard to find, but a very good gift for a bright pre-teen.
