Book was in perfect condition with the exception of some small damage that occurred during shipping. The company packaged it well, I think the postoffice just used metal straps during shipping which damaged the book a little. But the company shipped it out immediately which is appreciated!

Strategic Marketing Problems... Not Solutions

I was disappointed. The book does contain some interesting thoughts, but 90% of the content is a description of companies facing marketing problems (case studies with a lot of facts). The author doesn't offer the solutions and best practises that would help solve these problems. While reading this book, i felt i was eating a burger without meat. Something is missing...

This is a good book for teachers who want case studies for their students to work on. It's a classroom book. It's not a good book if you want want to read marketing theory and best practises (if you're already in the management world).

Outstanding. Best understood after first reading 'The Seth Material' and 'The Nature of Personal Reality', also Seth books by Jane Roberts. There is a second book (Book II) to this series that completes the study on the unknown reality. Very intricate and intense reading and very much worth the effort.

The information presented is very thought-provoking and possibly life changing. As with all of the Seth books, the message is that you are MUCH more than you're personality. I found it annoying, however, that Robert Butts included his PERSONAL notes. They were HIGHLY unecessary and, since he was writing while " Seth " was dictating, he would actually write the WORD "semicolon" or "period" whenever "Seth" called for one. The editing is bad. Overall, though, this book IS powerful in that it gave me a larger view of creation and my place in it, which is why I read books of this nature.

Intended for advanced Seth readers, this manuscript delves into the soul/time/space conundrum as well as the connection between dreams and parallel realities. While the Seth information was channeled forty years ago, I consider Seth to be the father of the new age and self-help movement. Far from some pat oversimplification of how we create reality, Seth leads the reader, step by step, into the incredibly complex nature of the soul and how we are all ultimately connected with each other, God. I read and reread, probably only a few pages at a time, as the material is so spiritually stimulating yet thick with new information that it must be digested (at least for me) a little at a time. The authenticity of the material is indisputable making this (as well as all Seth books) an essential read for any sincere seeker.

This beats out any of the books (3) I've read about the subject. This book coupled with ICND from Cisco and some practice with a couple of real routers or simulated should definitely be enough. It was very easy reading - yet informative. Subnetting can be nasty but this guy makes it easy in my opinion. I passed the exam with flying colors as a result. I've lent the book out on three occasions and everyone was happy with it compared to other books out there. I think the secret is that it actually teaches you as opposed to memorizing what may be on the test. I hope this guy writes for advanced exams.
Good luck

EXCELLENT BOOK FOR CCNA 2

This is an EXCELLENT practical book for the CCNA 2 exams.

If there were a LAB EXAM on the CCNA 2 test, this book would be in the same category as that by Andrew Bruce Caslow for the CCIE Lab.

It is the only CCNA book I have come across that TRULY gives you the hands-on experience that you need on the job whilst preparing you for the CCNA exams.

It adopts the same approach recommended by Andrew Bruce Caslow, the author of the best-selling CCIE lab book - "Cisco Certification - Bridges, Routers, and Switchees For CCIE's" (Prentice Hall), through a THOROUGH and SYSTEMATIC APPROACH to configuring and troubleshooting Cisco devices, thereby helping you to understand the practical aspects of what you are learning.

This book would definitely make you feel as though you are in the workplace in view of the many PRACTICAL LAB SCENARIOS introduced in Chapter 5 and gradually built up through to 14. It is also packed full of robust diagrams that help you the learning process.

In my view, this is the BEST CCNA 2 book out there. A SUPERB book for those willing to put their Cisco skills into practice without simply cramming to pass the exams.

Well done Mr Myhre.

Ok here is the skinny, I did notice the errors in the book, some of the explanations I had to read over and over as well as check online sources ...This is the recommended procedure for doing anything, I feel for those who read books and expect authoritative definitions. Anyways I picked up this book with no knowledge of Cisco Infrastructure----thats right zippo, I work at a Helpdesk position reccomending products including cisco. This book in a month helped me get a 924 on the CCNA exam. In fact I thought the exam was rather simple. The book was easy reading and I never fell asleep once, unlike tood lammelle's books. So this is the answer, if you want CCNA read this book. Has some errors but that shouldn't hinder your progress any. I WILL be purchasing the BCSN by Mr. Myhre.

I'm the third person to post a review on this book. The first person said he hasn't read the book but the instructor was great in a classroom. And he posted a review on the book?

I have no doubt the author is a great instructor, however, the errors in this book may not be his fault at all. I understand mistakes will be made in printing, but there were mistakes in the PRACTICE TESTS ANSWERS! Mistakes IN the answers and then in spellings. There are many mistakes throughout the book that will hopefully be corrected when the next edition is published. I'm glad I understood some of these concepts before I read this book. Otherwise I'd be going into the CCNA Exam with the wrong knowledge. Again, I'm not taking digs at the author, but the book has too many mistakes printed in it in the wrong places! (un hem.....the practice test answers)

Also, I was hoping the CD was going to be an interactive test prep software. I was WRONG! It's only a Network Management Program. Why would anyone want one of these when they are PREPARING for a CCNA exam. The book would have been worth the money if it was a test prep CD.

Last thing, the Labs and Scenario's.....were we supposed to buy our own Routers to participate in these labs? How was one supposed to do the labs if we don't own routers, switches, cables, etc.....am I expecting too much from this book? For(this much)...I think not. If I'm not being fair...please someone...let me know. Give me another point of view! I don't think this edition is worth the money. If the included CD was something that would help for test preparations....then it might be worth the price.

How many pages do you really need to learn how to sit around and wait for an ambulance to show up?

I hate to amend my review with anything suggesting more material in what should be a pamphlet sized production, but why not a chapter on things to discuss while waiting for the ambulance? Maybe some jokes to tell or secret languages to speak so the patient can't understand you while you talk amongst yourselves?

As a 30 year old that has absolutely no First Aid knowledge other than dealing with my own children and common sense, this book was really great. I've been using it for the First Responder class I've been enrolled in. Of course, it covers a lot of information and here in CA it does not cover everything that will be on the final exam, but it does come pretty darn close. The book has glossy colored pages all the way through. The CD is mildly helpful. It poses scenarios at you and then a series of questions in which you type up paragraph style answers. Then, it gives a paragraph form answer back at you. Reading their answer helps understand the correct response and the "why" that goes with it. It's not a true/false or mulitple choice style, which I feel is more helpful.

I found a book for assisting in testing out as a First Responder extremely helpful. It was white with a blue border on the cover.

The best practical introduction to cinematography

Before you get "American Cinematographer Manual" which is a technical manual for shooting on film you will probably want to start with something that explains the ins and out of the motion picture camera and how to shoot on film. This book does just that.

Essentially the book deals with all the different formats of motion picture cameras, their internal mechanisms and threading paths. Then the book goes on to dealing with motion picture film itself, the various brands that are available, differences between black and white, color, color reversal and negatives along with a bit about the development process of each one. It is not technically detailed, it just describes and illustrates each one so that you will understand more about them and how they are used. The book then deals with lenses and how to frame your shots and covers a good bit about exposure, fps, filters and lighting.

This is an excellent starters manual and will get you up and running with your motion picture camera in no time. However when you are shooting on film you will need something like the "American Cinematographer Manual" for technical details on focusing the lens, threading the type of camera you have and exposure adjustments for filters.

As a note, there is a lot of new digital cinematography cameras on the up and coming that work on digital video tape and not film and many new filmmakers may be advised to check out this route as a cheaper and less costly way of shooting their first film.

This book doesn't need 1,000 words - it speaks for itself. We recommend it to all our students as THE text book to have. An excellent primer before moving on to specialist books. I don't want to be responsible for our students spending a fortune on books, so I tell them that if they can only afford one, then this is the one to get. The problem with many film books is that you can spend a fortune on getting the wrong ones. This is the only one you need to learn all the basics before you specialise.

This book is written for committed students of the filmic arts who are willing to put heart, soul, and wallet into the process of learning filmmaking. Technically literate, savvy, and still readable by a neophyte, this book makes comprehensible the mysteries of an art whose main practicioners have otherwise tried to make look harder than it is. If you're going to follow the precepts in this book, however, expect to part with a minimum of $25,000 before you shoot your first frame.

This book may be a little dated in terms of it's information but it's well worth it in the small tidbits of information that is within this book. It's title is cinematography but it covers almost all of the aspcects of production. From cameras to lighting and editing. There are even a few exapmles contracts and various film forms in the apendix. Theinformation is layed out in a very simple manner making it very digestable to virtually anyone. I used this book to help me when I had questions lighting on a video project I was working on. Essential for first time filmmakers/DP's althought it's in need of an update.

I find the book OK but there are still quite a few points which deserve a little critics. It's true that it covers more or less all the topics but I can see relativly little concepts behind it. My impression is that many parts of the book are simply copied out from the "official" documentation. Well, OK, someone made the preselection for you and presents you the "important" things, leaving out the "less important". For me, it's too little for a book which should teach you DB2 UDB. The effect is that things are used in the text which are explained much later - without referencing. The book is not really in-depth; in my eyes, it's too complicated for an introduction and too little for everyday DBA work. I am missing conceptual explanations - I can read the online documentation myself. Eg. the Oracle8 DBA books (for courses) are much better, the things are explained there in clear steps and you feel that someone was thinking deeply how to construct these steps. Compared to those Oracle books, in this sense this book really legs behind. I felt a little lost while reading it. It was only at the end of the book that many things and relations became clear to me - a little late. My conclusion: This book contains much valuable information, no question, but the structure could be better. If you are new to DB2 UDB, don't hesitate and buy this book but organize yourself also a large portion of patience. Someone stated this book be "easy to read". I can't confirm this - assuming your aim is understanding how DB2 UDB really works.

A worthy update.

This book is a significant enhancement to the previous edition that covered DB2 UDB Version 5. The book provides good overviews of post-V5 feature additions, including DB2 Satellite Edition, Data Links Manager, the Audit Facility and Query Patroller. Recent additions to DB2 SQL, like table functions, structured types, typed tables and summary tables, are also well covered. The coverage of structured types and typed tables, some of the newer DB2 object-relational features, is particularly good.

It is rare to find so much detailed, hard technical knowledge, well presented, between the pages of a single book. Almost all of the good detail of the previous edition is preserved and added to. This edition is over 200 pages longer than its predecessor.

This book is a good complement to Don Chamberlin's excellent "A Complete Guide to DB2". It is not as easy to read (it is a study guide after all), but does provide more detail on the database administration side.

If you are studying for your IBM DB2 certification exams, or if you are or wish to become a hard-core DB2 user, this book would be a welcome addition to your library.

Great Introductory Book

Considering that IBM's DB2 manuals are spread over more than 20 different books, a major obstacle for any beginner, a book like this was always needed.

This book is very well written and very useful to give you a broad overview of DB2. This book mostly includes materials already found in the manuals but in a far more concise and 'to the point' manner.

However on the minus sides of this book, adding the word certification to the title probably confuses the buyer. Most of the DB2 certifications need more knowledge then that provided by this book. From a certication point of view this book needs more in-depth coverage, examples and mock tests.

And lastly remember, at $60.00 (well $59.99, but that doesn't fool me) it costs more than the hardcopy manuals of DB2 Administration v7.0 (3 vols), Application developement guide v7.0, Data movement utilites guide v7.0 combined!!

This book should be your first stop if you're new to DB2, and it is a welcome addition an old pro's library. This is a worthy update from the V5 Certification Guide, both in terms of readability and additional content. DB2's product documentation has most everything you'll need day-to-day, but it is quite dense. This book helps clarify the main points and will act as a useful reference and supplement to the product documentation.

This book gives an good overview of new and seasoned SCM practices, but does not go into great depth with any of them. The chapter on Supply chain process design is OK and the section on alliances and trust is well developed. Most of the other chapters are written at too high a level and just skim the surface. That would be OK when talking about some of the IT practices, but it was very frustrating when the authors talk about the SCOR model (pps. 67-68) and give you so little detail that you realize you need to be looking in other books. This book is an ideal "quick start" for those going into SC consulting as new hires for a big firm or someone new to a SC job - but realize, you will need to be reading much more than this. However you will learn phrases such as "Partnering occured as firms sought to take advantage of market opportunities through a synergistic combination of strategic core competencies." (p. 148 - I kid you not.)

"Very good value": Book review from the "SCM Review"

Review Date: 2002-12-05
The title is a bit misleading: the book is about a lot more than redesign. Specifically it looks at the many processes and technologies associated with supply chain management. The subject matters covered run the gamut from the basics of supply chain management to supplier relationships to the fast-changing B2B landscape. The premise of educators Handfield and Nichols is that the more effectively you integrate these activities the more value you create across the supply chain. . . . The bottom line is that the pluses far outweight the minuses. The authors have a knack for explaining a range of supply chain concepts and techniques clearly. Just as important, they reinforce the discussion with real-life examples. Every major topic is introduced by a case study that sets the context for the discussion to follow. One final observation: From a cost-benefit standpoint, Supply Chain Redesign represents a good value in today's market. Very few books these days present this much worthwhile supply chain information for such a relatively low price.

I bought this book this weekend and started reading it. It was in a nice display of "recommended" reading at the airport book store in Singapore. Having been in both IBM and E2open (Supply Chain software) and now Agere Systems.... no doubt in my mind - the value is clear. Implementation is complex with competing solutions and agendas. Issue is even in the same industry you have too many competing solutions. I noticed CAPS has been pushing the same themes. I liked the way you put it together and got it published.

I am currently focused on building a Supply Chain which is geographically located with the supply base. This is a huge advantage as Value Chains can not overcome the timezone - same day impact. The core advantages of key supplier relationship management are also local and can not be overcome by distance. If we can automate human behavior in these management sytstems the value chain will really gain speed.

I Used Professional Real Estate Problem Solving Using the HP

I used the HP-12C financial calculator instead of the TI Real Estate BA calculator with this book. One of our agents who is studying for the broker's exam used my HP-12C along with Mr. John A. Tirone's excellent "Professional Real Estate Problem Solving Using the HP-12". The Tirone book covers more than enough to get one through the california real Estate Finance book, and you can do it easier with the HP 12 C, at least that is my thought on the matter.
One problem which gave our agents trouble was on page 354 of the California real estate finance book. It is an bi-weekly loan payment problem: the example in this book is exacly the example that Mr. Tirone has in his HP-12C real estate problem solving book (a bi-weekly loan with $100,000 PV, 10% annual interest rate, amortization-loan term of 360 months!). However, the answers are different! Who is right? Whose is wrong? we called Mr. Tirone to go over the problem and he gave us a Finance Lesson, true to form we hear! Result is we know there is a typo in the term of the bi-weekly loan on page 354; not a big problem, off by just a little bit. Again, Professional Real Estate Problem Solving Using the HP 12C rules the day!
