Ok so I usually don't write reviews on the books I love, more into writing reviews on the books I hate trying to save someone else from wasting their money on a horrible book, but this book is worth raving about. Loved the characters, who are so well developed, loved the sex scenes, loved the plot line, really just loved everything about this book except coming to the end of it. If you like erotic fiction, then you can't miss with this one.

As a side note havn't found a Chris Owens book yet that I didn't like!

Awesome Conclusion!

I truly enjoyed the first three books in the Deviations series, so I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one. And, it was well worth the wait. The first two novels concentrated heavily on Tobias and Noah's budding romance while exploring the BDSM world they have chosen. Though the BDSM element is represented just as strongly as in the first three installments, there is more plot development here to build the romance to a crescendo. In particular, Tobias and Noah's jobs start to wear on them and affect their relationship. Noah questions why he became a cop after getting involved in a dangerous situation; Tobias begins to see that he can't be a full-time vet, a full-time Dom and manage his farm. One part that was especially good - readers get to see how complex Tobias' relationship with Bradford is, which subsequently fleshes that character out to be more three-dimensional. And then there is Phantom.

Phantom Shaw, Tobias' former submissive, was a minor character in the first two books. In volume three, his character was expanded upon and impacted the story more. So much so, that I expected him to have his own novel after Tobias and Noah's story was wrapped up. Instead, the authors created an unexpected plot twist for him in this final book. Though I never imagined the story going in the direction it went, it made for a very satisfying conclusion. His issues of self-esteem and addiction to pain take a major role in the story. Noah must examine his own feelings about Phan as well - can he accept that Tobias needs to help Phan? What role can or should Phan have in their relationship? And, does he love Phan too?

Though I am sad to see the series conclude, it was a very good ending. The sex was inventive, steamy and playful. Oh, and did I mention plentiful?! The characters were fully realized and the plot well done. These books have always been more than just "kinky" stories. These could be real people; they have real problems; and, they have real love. Overall, I highly recommend the entire Deviations series.

I felt disappointed in this fourth instalment. These were my feelings regarding Tobias,Noah,Phantom. All three had lost their uniqueness and sexiness. Tobias was not portrayed as the strong DOM that really pushed Noah to his limits. There was one brief scene with sensory deprivation, which wasn't a complete success for Noah, but it was not pursued in the book. It felt like Tobias was 60 years old instead of 40.
Also, why reference the trip to Paris and 'scenes' over there, and not give the reader a glimpse? Why put it in the book at all?
I could not see or feel Noah's sexiness or edginess in wanting Sir to continually 'push' him. That was gone. I did not feel that he dressed sexy for a 'scene' anymore.
And finally Phantom. The very toubled sexy, horny, beautiful boy who needed a strong hand and was looking for more than Bradford could give him.We had a taste of his needs and I hoped that these would have been explored in a more intense way.
I did not think the 'scenes' were as intense as in the previous 3 books. There didn't seem to be the careful attention to detail in setting up a scene for the reader;consequently, for me, no eroticsm coming through in the scenes. It all had the feel of 'a sameness' in the scenes since it was mostly spanking, whipping. Nothing new, nothing interesting, nothing surprising.
Suddenly Noah & Phantom became sweet pizza eating kids, with kisses & hugs for everyone, always a bathtime, soapsuds and cuddles. I 'lost'their ages and uniqueness.
I am not saying this is wrong in a story..but not in relation to the previous Deviation books. I was very disappointed. Of course, relationships, problems had to be resolved in this book - it just left me feeling flat, lost, empty. It lost it's impact.
No trips to the barn,no pushing Noah
The story seemed empty. And when it seemed Owen and Payne had nothing to write about they had Noah and Phantom ordering pizzas!

Back from their Parisian vacation, things couldn't be better for Tobias and his submissive, Noah. With a new open-ended contract, plans to move in together, and an intense emotional connection that transcends their D/s relationship, the pair is more stable and centered than ever.

For Phantom, Tobias' former submissive and now Noah's close friend, things are spinning out of control. While making real progress in therapy for childhood issues that caused his split with Tobias, Phan is now forced to make some difficult decisions that could profoundly affect Tobias and Noah. Will Tobias and Noah have the strength, yet again, to take their relationship beyond its limits and come out stronger for it?

Knowing Deviations: Bondage was the final installment of a four book series with which I am completely and utterly in love, I had very high expectations. With Deviations: Bondage Chris Owen and Jodi Payne most unexpectedly gave me everything I secretly wished for. All I can say is just, Yay!!

Ms. Owen and Ms. Payne never fail to astound me. Their stories are filled with rich, authentic characters and real emotional depth. The blistering hot sex only adds to the intensity of the story.

One of my favorite things about the Deviations books is the different levels of Tobias and Noah's relationship and their exploration of roles. Theirs is not simply a straight Dominant/submissive bond. They have evolved into much more. Tobias' yielding to Noah is further explored with sizzling hot scenes, while at the same time their innate connection flourishes and grows.

The captivating Phan shines ever brighter here. I have been fascinated with him since he first licked Tobias' boots in book one. It's his emotional struggle and his seemingly limitless cheek that makes me want to snuggle him up and keep him safe.

For me though, Noah is the true star of Deviations: Bondage. His growth over the four books is amazing. Noah's inner strength and belief in Tobias' love leaves me breathless. He has truly blossomed under Tobias' hand to an astonishing depth.

Emotionally charged and intensely erotic, Deviations: Bondage is a satisfying journey of love. I can't recommend this book, and the Deviations series, enough!! They are an absolute must read!

Gosh I loved this series! It's one of those series you'd like to go on forever. All the characters in this book stayed with me long after the last page was read, and I know I will go back and re-read all 4 books many times in the future. I would recommend all 4 books, this is a series no one should miss!

This was one of the few books that I've missed reading for at least a few days after finishing it. In the final part of the book, it stretches the bounds of moral acceptance in the partnership-of-three idea, but it has characters who are presented as strong enough to support the premise in large. I hope you enjoy it too, but I would repeat that it requires an unusually forgiving forebearance for those unaccustomed to affection displayed in terms of unorthodox sexual pleasure, such as what the parents seemed to accept, in the story, as genuine. A credit to story writing, in itself. Good writing.

I am a fan of Chris Owen, so I could not wait to read 911. However, the addition of Eric to principle players (Drew and Scott) did not sit well with me. Chris did such a wonderful job in establishing the Drew (hot fireboy) and Scott (cute doctor) love story, that Eric's (sexy blond) addition seemed to take away from Drew and Scott. In fact, it seemed to become the Eric and Drew story, which made me sad. It wasn't until Drew was badly injured, that Scott's importance to Drew (and Eric) was acknowledged.

I'm not a prude, and have no issues with three-somes. However, I do feel that principle players need to be remembered. Author Sean Michaels is good in remembering principle players (Rock and Rig), even though they opened their hearts and home to a third ("Pretty", as he is called by Rig). Maybe the author was trying to portray that Drew, Scott, and Eric all loved equally, and I just didn't get it.

I gave the book 4 stars because of the set-up love story of Drew and Scott, but will be cautious of other three-somes by Chris.

This is one of hottest manlove books I've ever read. And it's not just M/M. It's M/M/M. Yes, *three* sexy men in love, having sheet-scorching sex...not to mention a sweet, tender, and surprisingly believable three-way relationship. A fireman, a doctor, and an EMT. It just doesn't get any hotter than that. When you do read it, make sure you have a bucket of ice and a change of clothes handy. Better yet, find your own sexy fireman or doctor to play with. :)

Okay, enough about the sex. The sex is insanely hot, but what really stands out to me is the chemistry and the realistic presentation of a working threesome of men. It's rare for an author to be able to write a love story between three men that's not just erotic, but actually believable. This story makes me believe that such a relationship is entirely possible.

The men...ohhh, the men...they are strong, sexy, sensitive, and completely wonderful. I just can't find a negative word to describe this book or its characters.

I will definitely read this one again. It's a keeper. More brilliant M/M romance by Chris Owen.

There is a reason many cultures and religions use the number three to represent totality, balance, harmony. Chris Owen has written another powerful book in "911". As someone who has always believed strongly in polyamory, as a fundamental way to share the joy and strength that comes from truly loving, I found this story delightful and affirming. Each character grows throughout the book, opens up to the others to expose his own weaknesses, and learns to accept the unconditional love that still demands honesty. The end of the book seems rather rushed, but it also makes sense that the three men can actually tackle their final mutual challenge together, and quickly.

Unfortunately, Torquere Press seems to have a quality assurance problem. There are numerous typographical errors and even character slip-ups, which a careful editor or proofreader should have caught. So, the publishing knocks one star off - but Chris delivers a great read!

Thanks again!

I really enjoyed this story. The romance was cute and tender, though somewhat unrealized. That might just be due to the time period. Historical M/M romances are always bittersweet to me, since men fall in love but aren't allowed to show it due to society's restrictions.

The sex is spicy hot. I was not expecting this level of steam in a British historical. There's mild kink, threesomes, and a bit of D/s.

The story itself is clever and the dialogue is witty. I love a book that doesn't take itself too seriously.

However, a few things kept me from giving this 5 stars. First, I think this book would have been much better in third-person POV. I enjoy first-person POV in a few contemporaries and urban fantasy but it just doesn't fit in a historical, especially in what was supposedly Regency England. First-person is a very informal POV and Regency England is extremely formal, so they clash. Also, the dialogue felt a bit too contemporary at times, and not in line with the time period. Lastly, I found the D/s theme unrealistic in this particular setting. It was mild and inoffensive and even pretty sexy, but I didn't feel like it felt natural in a Regency piece.

Despite those minor issues, I found AN AGREEMENT AMONG GENTLEMEN to be an entertaining and satisfying read. This book is worth having in any M/M romance collection.

As all other reviewers I came to this book after reading the beautiful Bareback by the same author.

There could have been no major change: here we are led into Victorian England, among the gentility and the tone is necessarily completely different.

Edward Munrow comes to wealth in an unexpected way and is not entirely happy about it because his new position forces him to take those responsibilities he has carefully avoided until then.
The fact that ignites the plot feels unlikely enough to make it difficult for the reader to suspend disbelief; once suspension is managed somehow, the reader is thrown into a plot who develops consistently giving enough room for the three main characters to shine.

Mr Owen's writing is good as ever, yet I found the characterization rich but unfulfilling. It seems to me that the novel, rather short in fact, is constantly on the verge between the nicely written but light-hearted erotica and the full fledged gay historical novel: sex scenes are many, graphic, well done and take a large number of pages but there are several hints at deeper issues which are never dealt with, leaving me dissatisfied.
The most thorny issue is perhaps the threesome that develops among the three characters: it is nicely done and sexy but I really could not understand how the three come not only to have sex together but even to love one another so much that the expected exclusion of one of them from the "happily ever after" never takes place.
Among the others undealt with issues one could quote the characters of the duke and of the bride to be, not to mention the rather sexy topic of dominance and sexual play in xix century England.

As all these undealt issues are rather interesting and could have led to a very interesting narrative, I found myself rather dissatisfied at the end of the book.

A thing I appreciated is the complete lack of self loathing among the gay characters who only struggle to come away with law and society and are utterly inddifferent to moral constraints.

Four stars, but I think I should appreciate a second, edited edition taking a more clear direction.

Edward "Ned" Munrow is content with his life of no responsibility and all pleasure until his friend unexpectedly gives him an estate and a great deal of money. He's not particularly pleased with the development, especially when a Duke blackmails him into a marriage he definitely doesn't want. The Duke sends his heir, Henri, Viscount Langton, to spend the summer with Munrow, so they can pretend he's seeing if the young man will make a suitable heir. To his surprise, Munrow discovers that he actually likes Langton. Things get even more confusing (and exciting) when an old lover enters the picture.

Don't let the Victorian setting fool you, An Agreement Among Gentleman is an incredibly hot book! Munrow is an unashamedly sensual character and I enjoyed watching him slowly become motivated by more than just temporary pleasure. The supporting characters in An Agreement Among Gentleman added a great deal to the story. They provided comic relief and much more. The relationship between Munrow and his valet was especially amusing. As for the love interests, Langton was sweet, passionate, and eager, and Munrow's old lover Truitt was absolutely delicious! The attraction among these three gentlemen just about burned up my laptop. Chris Owen has written a wonderfully sexy historical which will have a permanent spot on my reread shelf.

ENGLISH SADDLE vs WESTERN SADDLE..........which is best?

Review Date: 2006-12-14

'Gentlemen-ly' is a good (invented) word to describe the tone of this book; the arousing rawness of Owen's earlier novel, "Bareback" it has not. Perhaps it's 'gentlemen-ly' to the point that the following says it best: You just don't as often get the overwhelming "Bb sensation" of being so caught up you feel you're 'going down for the last time'.....yet all the while knowing there's a love there that's gonna pull you back up.

In this newer Owen work, the men of "Aaag" are of their time and place, in many ways being correct and restrained.....nothing wrong with this, it's historically correct (and a harder write). Further, it doesn't mean they never "break loose sexually".......though there's definitely less of a feeling given the reader of building anticipation. The following provides additional clues to this situation. While older lead character, Edward Munrow (too infrequently called a more informal 'Ned'), and much younger protege/lover, Viscount Langton (also infrequently called a more informal 'Henri'), become "vivid" lovers, there's a "formality" thrown up between them (as indicated by near continuous use of their correct names).....a "pulled-backness" in their relationship that's not found between the leads of "Bb." It really boils down to a seeming lack of drive to "commit to one another," a drive most strongly felt in Owen's first(?) novel. This reader gets the feeling that what is happening, on the part of the considerably older man, is a "preparation" of young Langton for a life together with a third party to these proceedings: Christopher Truitt, Munrow's earlier trained "protege" and someone much closer in age to the young Viscount. Realistically I know, of course, that much of this "writing approach" likely relates to the novel's earlier England setting.

Finally, another most important thing yours truly found lacking is a "sense of falling in love.......of being in love and, significantly, a sense of growing love" between the two leads....something that "Bb" has coming out its pores....something that this reader drastically missed here.

Which is best? Unsurprisingly, Chris (and other readers), the one that'll get pulled off my shelf for a re-read every so many months will be none other than your firstborn: the inimitable "Bareback." And that read'll take place out in my ole Arizona bunkhouse, where there's a saying that starts each day: 'Let's saddle up, Pard.'

Fond regards,

So the relationship of Tobias and Noah grows and evolves, becomes ever more loving and strong. I found this book to be more about the romance and companionship of being a couple than about a relationship that is balanced between romance relationship and the requirements of a BDSM lifestyle. The power exchange aspect of their relationship are somewhat dimmed and deluded in this third novel. There are BDSM club scenes, yes, and fantasy play. But, there is little to none of that throat catching, lung gripping power exchange that I had loved so much in the first two, that defined the them. Where is Noah on his knees in the kitchen while Tobias ate? Where is that quiet, calm voice of Domination? It was all words and reminders but little action! There's only so long you can say, "I am your Master" before you have to actually show it, Tobias, come on. Tobias never lets Noah forget who is his Master, but it isn't entirely due to power or Domination, at least, not here. That I know their relationship is about this, is based on D/s, saved the BDSM scenes from being a sexual act alone. Still, it was a beautiful book that reminded the reader that even a Master and his slave can have a loving relationship, that two can connect emotionally, that BDSM is as much an emotional and physical need for some people as sex. This book worked through a lot of their issues like caging with Noah and Tobas' pride. Phantom, also, had a lot to deal with... in fact, we're left with a bit of a Phantom-cliffhanger at the end. Master Bradford has yet to disclose what is wrong, so that's no doubt a plot saved for the next book. Did I love the book despite its excessive and repetitive gay sex scenes (which I like, don't get me wrong, but I'm really reading these for the BDSM elements) in exchange for BDSM scenes? Yes. And I am going to consume the fourth and love it, too.

I haven't even received this book yet, and I'm already so sure it will be as good as the last 2, I'm not hesitant to rate it.

I had gone past this series several times, but after reading an excerpt on another site I ordered Submission and Domnination, although not too sure what I was going to be reading entirely. I would have ordered Discipline as well but didn't realize it was out, it should be here any day. I am not in the least involved, or knowledgeable about the BDSM scene, so like Jem have no idea how accurate it is, but loved the books nevertheless. The characters were well developed from the beginning, and I will admit I got really wrapped up in the intensity of the story, so much so that I had to put it down and walk away for awhile a few times.

The balance, or the striving for,in the relationship between Noah and Tobias was very well and thoughtfully written, as well as the scenes in the Stable. You could feel Noahs struggle and submission to Tobias, as well as Tobias' need to Dominate, and understand them on their level. Noah's playful personality is engaging, and you find yourself warming up to Tobias as he falls in love with Noah, and becomes more vulnerable, something that really shakes him up.
These are characters you would like to revisit time and again, even like to meet. The author's have done a marvelous job, and my thanks to them for a great story, great characters, and handling the storyline and theme so well. Although you may like me, find the theme of BDSM a bit uncomfortable, I would recommend this to anyone who can manage a look at the darker side of need. And not to mention the very Hot, um--intimacy.

Third in the series - sexy and well written

The third in the sublime 'Deviations series' and as thoughtful and well written as ever. The characters are fleshed out well and explored on a far deeper level than a lot of erotic fiction currently on the market.

This book explores the emotional side of Tobias and Noah's relationship and their friendship with Phantom even deeper than the previous: 'Domination'. While this is a welcome thing, the core theme of the series suffers a little - the development of the emotional/love side of the story, as wonderful as it is,takes the stage more at expense of the BDSM elements that gave the first book (Submission)it's edge and thrill. Although this changes towards the end, and we get more of what we expect from 'Discipline',it seems a long (or perhaps just impatient!)wait to get there.

I agree with another reviewer here, Jane, in that the character of Noah seems to need a little bit more toughness or control, lacking in this title, and as the reader, I also felt this. I hope this gets remedied a little in the next book as Tobias seems to have lost something of his hard Dom edge (as satisfying as it is to see his emotional side though). However, I loved that a 'flip flop element was introduced in Noah topping occasionally - as a side note - I would love to read a prequel spin off about the training of Tobias and Bradford as we know (though only with scant details) that they were trained together and I think this would be a delicious and sexy story to read.

Despite some truly sizzling and gorgeously passionate sex and love scenes, there are surprisingly not as many 'scenes' or explorations of the BDSM parts of their lives as one would expect, which is a little disappointing. Perhaps a better balance needs to be struck between the love story and the D/S elements which were more lacking here than the previous titles. Still, the book is very enjoyable and has far greater character development than most other books in this genre and I, like others, eagerly await the next title.

I also hope that Bradford and Phan have their own spin-off series at some point, or Phan with a slightly more compassionate Dom - Bradford is a less emotional person than Tobias (as far as we know thus far). Personally, I find most of the characters interesting - Bradford, Brian, Nikki, Luca for example and would relish the chance to read more about them - perhaps a good thick book of shorter stories or a series focussing on them? Perhaps I'm just greedy though ;)

Third book in Deviations explores Noah limits, a trip to Paris and a very erotic 'scene' in a sex club! I love all of the characters, since they are fully developed and add to the story of Tobias and Noah. I appreciated that Noah wanted Tobias to be a little tougher, since I too have felt that he was losing his Dominant edge since falling in love with Noah. I felt he was getting too soft from the initial book! This looks like it will be dealt with in the upcoming novel along with our dear, adorable, hot, sexy Phantom and his dom. Bradford. It is touching that everyone is reaching out to Phan. in dealing with his emotional problems. This series is so rich in descriptive narrative, plot development and wonderful characters; IMO, it reaches out and pulls you into the lives of Tobias,Noah,Phantom, and Bradford. Love the eroticsm of 'play' at the club in Paris! Hot!HOt!Hot!

I agree that this series makes for exceptionally good reading, and this latest book does not disappoint. The authors continue the story of Tobias and Noah, now that their relationship is firmly established. This made the book more enjoyable for me, since they are truly a couple here. The sex continues to be hot and heavy, with some surprises thrown in for the reader and the couple. The dialog is again very well written, and the story is fun. The trip to Paris was quite juicy!

I felt that most of Phantom's participation in the story was a set-up for a future book. The conclusion of "Discipline," while satisfying, cliffhangs a little on Phantom - implying that he will take a more active role in the next installment, and perhaps have his own novel. Though I think this is a logical progression, and I want to know Phantom's full story, I would be disappointed if Tobias and Noah didn't find closure to their tale. Their lives are certainly intertwined with Phan's. I want to see the consequences of their decision whether or not to live together, and their new contract.

This series is a wonderful look at the world of BDSM (though I have no idea if it is accurate), especially for those of us that may have been reticent about reading such material. I cannot recommend this series enough! I can hardly wait until the fall for Volume 4!!

Gay private investigator Shane Mullin gets a routine assignment from Janet Brint: to follow her husband, Daniel, and see if her suspicions are correct that spending time away from home and spending money due to his increasing use of drugs. What is not typical is what Shane finds: that Daniel Brint, an attorney and city councilman, is actually cheating on her, with a series of fairly anonymous men he hooks up with via the internet, whom he meets for one-time aggressive sexual encounters. What was even more unusual, as Shane spied on the cheating husband, is that he felt not just empathy for the closeted politician, but a strong attraction to him as well, quickly becoming an obsession. With the help of his sassy but resourceful lesbian assistant, Celia, Shane finds out more about Janet Brint and her motivation in having her husband investigated, and finds one of Daniel's online ads, which he replies to and begins a series of text message flirtations.

An interesting premise, well-presented in this highly erotic and sexually-explicit novel, which manages to touch on serious issues such as the public's right to know about the personal lives of its elected officials, and whether someone who starts off with furtive one-night-stand encounters while closeted can possibly deal with a monogamous gay relationship. I give it four stars out of five.

Chris and Jodi are terrific M/M erotica writers and here they have given us an entertaining story with a light and sexy plot. I will not go into the plot as Elisa has done a great review on this one. The story starts off well but sort of tapers off towards the end. On the other hand this is a romance erotica, so it is expected.

The narration is wonderful as we get to know Shane very well and enjoy the story from his angle. But because it is a narration it is not easy to get to know Daniel and this may be the reason I find his returned love for Shane not that convincing. Afterall Daniel is most promiscuous early in the story as he goes for man after man. Here the moments of voyeurism is darn sexy.

Shane's lesbian sidekick, Celia, with her somewhat protective streak over her boss, is an enjoyable character and their gentle bantering is engaging and humorous. And when she makes out on her boss' desk...(chuckle)

Overall an entertaining story with an appealing character in Shane. It just needs a little bit more angst.

Private Detective Shane Mullin has been hired by Councilor Daniel Brint's wife Janet to follow her husband to find out if he is buying drugs. At first Shane thinks this is easy money, after all how hard can it be to tail Daniel and take a few pictures of him doing illegal stuff? Then he finds out that the very married Councilor's double life does not involve buying drugs, he is having sex, lots of gay sex.

As he sees Daniel having indiscriminate hook-ups with numerous men Shane becomes more and more enamored of him and wishes that he is the one having sex with him. Then he does something no self-respecting private detective should ever do, he inserts himself into the action and starts an online relationship with his client's husband. Soon this is not enough as they move up to having phone sex then real sex. Shane and Daniel have a lot in common - neither can stop what he is doing, Daniel is obsessed with sex and Shane is obsessed with Daniel.

Shane's lesbian sidekick Celia is a terrific supporting character. The teasing exchanges between her and Shane are so, so funny; obviously they care about and look out for each other. At one point she tells him that she will train him to be a bitch in no time. The scene where she `does a Daniel' on Shane's desk with her latest love interest is incredibly comical, and when she walks in on him and Daniel in the same office in flagrante delicto, what can I say?

The story is told from Shane's POV so we don't get much insight into Daniel's feelings for Shane, or his motivations for staying with his wife despite being gay and making innumerable booty calls which could expose him to blackmail. Janet's motivations for hiring Shane are suspect since she appears to have nothing to gain by exposing Daniel and you get the sense that she may be hiding something as well. Shane has to extricate himself from his web of lies to both Daniel and Janet and there is no easy way to do this. Daniel, on the other hand, will have to come clean about his sexual orientation to both his wife and the public that elected him. What wonderful plot twists for the reader to unravel. How will these characters disentangle themselves?

There is so much sex going on in Daniel's life, with multiple partners sometimes in the same day that you wonder how he finds the time to do his job. Shane on the other hand is so in love with Daniel he has lost sight of the fact that Janet hired him to investigate her husband and that she is his client. The dialogue between these two horny characters in this very hot book is really steamy as they have numerous phone sex encounters.

Sex, Lies and Celluloid is definitely not a primer on how to have a loving relationship with your spouse but it will entertain you and make you laugh out loud, although it is not without pathos. Daniel's character is the most promiscuous one I have met to date and if you hate cheating spouses this book will curl your hair, but Daniel is so likeable despite all of his flaws I became a fan. Jodi Payne and Chris Owen have done it again, written a book that I couldn't put down, and in the process have created different types of heroes in Daniel and Shane. Daniel is depraved and decadent but he is engaging and very sweet. Shane on the other hand, although just as immoral as Daniel, is single and looking for love but in all the wrong places. Sex, Lies and Celluloid is a great read that will engage, enrage and amuse you with really cool dialogue, and you will reread it time and again because you can't help yourself.

Mrs. Brint hires private detective Shane Mullen to investigate her politician husband's strange behavior because she thinks he's on drugs. Shane soon figures out that Mr. Brint's secret has nothing to do with drugs--he's sneaking out to have sex...with men. Shane becomes fascinated with Mr. Brint and soon gets tangled up in a web of lies.

This is a fabulous book. I enjoyed every second of it. I avoid books about cheating husbands, and I rarely like a story based on deception. SEX, LIES & CELLULOID is the big exception to that rule. The authors treat both subjects (infidelity and lies) with great care, and the story takes some pleasantly unexpected turns.

I fell in love with the three main characters (Shane the investigator, Daniel the politician, and Celia the lesbian sidekick). I actually sympathized with all of them and found their characterizations extremely believable. The suspicious wife was fairly stereotypical, but not quite as exaggerated as you'd expect from a private investigator story.

The sex is *sizzling*. There's cyber sex (my least favorite thing to read about, but still done very well), some steamy phone conversations, voyeurism, and plenty of hot man-on-man action.

Though the story is based on a series of lies, the authors spend most of their time developing the relationship between Shane and Daniel and letting us get to know them, so I never got the "Uh-oh, where is this going?" feeling. I never doubted that the story would have a beautiful ending, and I was not disappointed. This is a romance, after all. :)

I truly loved everything about SEX, LIES & CELLULOID. I can't think of anything negative to say about it, other than the fact that I wish it were longer. I am very satisified with this book. I read this as an e-book, but I plan to buy the print version as soon as possible. Yes, it's good enough that I am willing to buy it twice.

If there is a thing I hate is a cheating man and maybe this is the reason why I didn't read soon this book. In the blurb you read pretty clear that Daniel is a cheating husband who hooks up on internet for sex. So adds promiscuos to cheating. I should hate this man. And instead I was fascinated by him like Shane, the PI Daniel's wife has hired to tail her husband.

Jodi Payne and Chris Owen have the mastery to decipt a character that gains your sympathy instead of hating him (truly I should have remembered first that Chris Owen has made the same with another cheating character, Tor in Bareback).

So the story is pretty simple: Daniel is cheating on his wife with other men (have I said it enough time in my pretty short pill review? :-) ), Shane finds it but finds also himself falling in love for this man and having no courage to unmask him with his wife. But Daniel is also a politician, and being gay and at the same time married is something that can destroy his career. And then, even if Shane manages to get to know Daniel, how can he say him that he was been paid to tail him? How can Daniel trust him anymore?

Daniel is a strange character. I could say that he is pretty driven by his lust. He is not kinky or bad, he really is a good man, but he likes sex and tries to find it where he can. But even if he has always a onestand encounter, he manages to take intact his good image and this aura of nice guy.

Shane sells himself short. He is really a good guy, gentle and caring. He has also a conscience, he is not the typical cynical private investigator. He is also the type who go every sunday night to dinner with his mother. And blushes. He is so cute, not in a physical way, but for attitude. He is a guy who believes in love forever.

So both Daniel and Shane are characters who act badly, but who are also so nice that you can't not love them. And I have to say, if you have my same prejudices about cheating man or promiscuos sex, try to pass over and read this book: it will be a very nice discover.

Chris Owen's story was amazingly tame for him and while it wasn't very exciting it also wasn't bad either, I'm kind of happy to have managed to read something of him without clenching my teeth. The mystery wasn't really spectacular but the characters were interesting and it was the first time I read about someone working in computer crimes in a story, was pretty interesting. A detective has to work a murder investigation where the victim is basically a cave throll, who spent his life holed up in his apartment and sitting in front of his computer practically 24/7. Computer crime expert, Gallangher, the man who found the unlucky guy dead, is both curious about the murder and attracted to the detective investigating it.

CB Potts' story had the most original character's setting imo, Correctional Officer, but sadly that's the extend of my praises. That story was easily the worst of the bunch but also thankfully the shortest one. A correctional officer has trouble finding a date that won't run at the mention of his job. After drinking himself in a stupor because of his failed latest date, he's shoved home in a cab with a Taxi driver that isn't put off by our prison guard and all about making him release his tension by giving up control for once.

Tory Temple's "Heat" firemen, Tucker and Chance were next up with Flesh and Blood~ Since I absolutely adore that series it was really great reading more of them in a short story about acceptance and Tucker's insecurities about their partnership in society.

Last but not least, Alexa Snow's Trace Evidence. The best story of the anthology, great characters facing relationship problems after being together for 5 years, intriguing mystery with a side of paranormal activity and a nice dose of angst to cover it all~ Very sweet conclusion to a good anthology.

I enjoyed the last story in this anthology the best, but all chapters were well written.

I like a good romance with a detective and his lover, with a little angst and danger thrown in, so the final story really appealed to me.

If you can't resist a man in uniform give this anthology a try.

You just have to love these hot cops, firemen, correction officers.

Four excellent novellas on hot alpha men in uniform.
Chris' "On the Clock" is a well written and tightly paced mystery murder. This story spans a few days as Cort, a detective, races against the clock to solve the crime. He meets a fellow detective and nothing is hotter than 2 cops' instant attraction and lust for one another. The sexual tension simply sizzles.

CB's "Nothing's ever easy" maybe the shortest but compelling, its brutal prison world, dark characters and rough sex disturbing. I wish this one is longer as the characters are so intriguing.

Thank you Tory for giving us a short novella on Chance and Tucker. Readers who do not know these 2 sexy firemen should get "Fireline". Just love these 2 alpha and sensual men with their emotional ups and downs. More on them, please.

Last but not least is Alexa's engrossing "Trace Evidence", in which one tough cop, Mitch, nearly loses sight of what is most important to him, as he is embroiled in his work. Mitch making up with his lover is one heartfelt scene. The psychic elements certainly spice up the plot and I am please that Alexa's psychic hero, Nick, is featured in this story.

I do not have a favorite as I enjoy all four stories. An excellent anthology indeed.

On the Clock by Chris Owen

Homicide detective Cort Strang is almost through with his shift when the body of a social introvert is found dead in his apartment. Frustrated, he heads off to deal with his newest case. A surprise in the form of Patrick Gallagher is on scene. Pat turns out to be a computer crimes detective, gorgeous and he just hit on him.

Chris Owen's On the Clock is about two detectives meeting and then trying to find time between clues to get together. Cort and Patrick have to work to find time to be together but when they do, it's like gunshot; hot, fast and explosive.

Nothing's Ever Easy by CB Potts

Grant Grandmaison is a corrections officer who's feeling beat down. After an unusual evening at the club and a guy with bright green eyes, he finds an temporary escape from his pressures.

In Nothing's Ever Easy a night of indulgence finds Grant what he hopes could possibly be a permanent happy fix. CB Potts delivers sizzling sex with light BDSM along with a spark hope in this story.

Flesh and Blood by Tory Temple

Chance and Tucker are back. Tucker is floundering in a sea of uncertainty. He's really stressed about how the world views their relationship. Chance needs to find a way to make Tuck see what they have is beautiful and real. That only what they think and feel is what really matters.

I love these guys! Chance and Tuck are still as explosive as ever in this tale. Your emotions will be taken on a wild ride as you enter their world. Tory Temple's sexy loving men in Flesh and Blood will set your blood afire once more.

Trace Evidence by Alexa Snow

Detective Mitch Anderson and his partner Leo Banks take a call that leads to a dead body in the local park. The men are working on a deadline to find the killer and the more time that passes the less chances of solving the case. Mitch is also on a deadline at home, he's close to losing his life partner, Clay. Can Mitch find all the pieces to make everything fall into place, home and work, or will one suffer?

This final story took me by surprise.....I didn't see the end coming, which dodesn't happen often. You will LOVE the plot twist in Trace Evidence. Alexa Snow's sexy characters will steal your heart as you tag along on their journey of discovery.

You will love this incredible collection of stories, that they're men in uniform only make it that much better! All bring a kernel of hope and of course lots of man love as you take part in their stories. I loved To Serve and Protect and you will too!

I live right down the street fomr stoney point and have never seen as complete a route book as this. Oh sure there are more, but this is the most complete book on stoney point. Although some routes change constantly because of the sandstone shaleing, it still give a general description of the routes and some VERY helpful tips on climbing. I got past a 5 12a that I had been working on for 3 months thanks to this book. Highly reccommended.

How lucky we are to be so close to a great area for top roping. Chris Owen is clear about the climbs and routes. He has great topos and looking through other guides over the years proves that this is no small feat. I am so glad I have this guide, almost as glad as I am that I have Stoney Point.

This book provides valuable information (topos and ratings) on all the climbs at Stoney. Mostly TR and boulders with very few leads. I have yet to find another book with descriptions of these climbs. The nice thing about a guide like this is the consistent ratings provided for all the routes.

A fun book.

Boy was it good to be back reading about Tobias and Noah. I have to say, since the last book, I missed them. I actually craved to read this second book of the Deviations series because I HAD to know what happens with them. It didn't disappoint. There was a lot of hot action, a lot of hot scenes, and a lot of romance. This book was definitely more romantic than the first, and emotional in a different way. In this second book, Tobias and Noah have to find balance between having a regular romantic relationship and having a relationship based on the exchange of power. In this one, Tobias examines his weaknesses as Noah comes to terms with his. Their dynamic and struggles show that not even the best Dom in the world is infallible; no matter how strong we are, we break down, we screw up. We're not perfect. I can't wait to read number 3.

This is an amazing continuation of deviations:submission. I do not know how much truth there is in the BDSM world potrayed here. And it is not easy to understand anyone getting high from whipping, pain and subjugation. But I do appreciate the needs of both Subs and Doms in the story. The plot here is fascinating and charged with emotions and the characters beautifully drawn out. I wish there is more from Tobias, Noah, Bradford and Phantom and I hope both Chris and Jodi will deliver. And yes, I also like to recommend another emotionally charged M/M BDSM "Golden Boy" and "Golden Man" by Claire Thompson , e-books available from Ellora's Cave.

This is the sequel to Deviations: Submission. "Submission" left the reader as the two characters, Tobias and Noah, began to move beyond simple dominant and submissive--falling in love. That book explored the BDSM world with Noah, the submissive, as the focus. "Domination" switches the focus to Tobias. These two are developing a relationship, and they have issues to overcome just as any other couple does.

This series is excellent; well-written, fast paced, with fully realized characters (both supporting and main). Another book featuring some of the supporting cast as main characters would be more than welcome. I understand the third book in the series will be coming out April 07 and the fourth in Fall 07. Yeah!

I never expected a BDSM-themed book to have such a powerful love story, but there it is. Read these two books--now.

I found this sequel to Bareback to be a great insight into the relationship shared by Jake and Tor. When tragedy strikes Jake's family Tor is there to help him through it. The beginning of the book starts a little slow, but that is necessary to build up on a strong storyline. However, those of you looking for the hot and heavy Jake and Tor of the first novel will be slightly disappointed. In Natural Disaster, the two of them have been together for almost six years now, and while they are still in love, the author's need to show them at each other every moment is not present in this book. Yet, when they are together, the sparks fly. Even amidst all of the changes going on around these two, they still somehow manage to remain committed to each other. I would totally recommend this book.

This is a great story...

I really enjoyed Bareback and the other Jake/Tor online stories on Mr. Owen's website. I was looking forward to the follow up novel but was a little nervous about it after reading some of the other reviews here at amazon. I can't understand. I think this novel was even better written then the original. I like the plot more and felt the whole novel flowed more smothly. It was shorter than Bareback and had fewer sex scenes but I felt like I got to know Jake & Tor so much more. I enjoyed seeing them mature and grow as they became better at dealing with each other and the world around them. I have high hopes to see more Jake/Tor novels & stories in the future!!!

Disappointed

I agree with the other comments. This book is not a sequel and you hardly even see Tor and Jake as a couple in this book. I was very disappointed in this book, ever since the author had said the sequel was going to be released I was excited as hell. The prequel is a gem of a story and I expected no less from the sequel. Sadly the author didn't deliver, their was no passion between the two main character [Jake and Tor]. The characters that were so beautifully written in 'Bareback' just did not shine.

However, despite this what he did was relatively good. But it just didn't seem the authors heart was in the sequel. I would have rather seen no sequel than this.

I enthusiastically recommend this very well-researched book because of its interesting folklore. However, I couldn't give it that fifth star because the punctuation is distracting. The author needs to research the proper use of the hyphen. Other than that caveat, it's an excellent book.

Well, it's a little weird writing this review myself, but you out there have had 4 years to do it and have now missed the chance to be the first! Having had the past few years to reflect on the book, I am still pretty happy with it as a first effort. Despite the tongue in cheek approach there really is a bit to be learned from my book - even if it's just to marvel at how superstitious the old time sailors were. My aim is to do another book sometime soon and I hope readers will enjoy the second as much as they seemed to have enjoyed the first!
