This is one great book. For those of you who love Star Wars, this should be added to your collection. Instead of reading about the story, you read the script. It's not all the same, some sentences are longer or shorter, but that doesn't matter. Includes cool illustrations too. I rate it a 5!

Boxed Set - Resource Book & VHS tape

Brand new beautifully boxed set in MINT condition copyrighted in 1997 (shrink wrap removed so as to allow images of the product contents to be shared with potential buyer.) Inspired by film maker George Lucas, LEARN & LIVE is a one-hour documentary film, hosted by Robin Williams, and a companion 300-page soft cover resource book. The VHS film (closed captioned also) explores innovative educational programs where students and teachers are integrating technology with teaching and learning to make learning exciting, and by involving parents, business and the community. The 300-page soft cover resource book describes how education is changing nationwide and helps connect readers to experts and information. The set includes a letter addressed to Friend of Education with a mass signed print signature of George Lucas, which makes this a highly collectible due to film maker George Lucas connection with the foundation and his signature.

College text that is valuable to working professionals
Helpful Votes: 36 out of 36 total.

This college-level text is also useful to business and IT professionals because it provides a refresher for decision techniques that are the foundation of a number of disciplines. The book is divided into two parts: (1) deterministic methods, mainly focused on linear programming and optimization, and (2) probability and queuing.

What makes this book valuable to the practicing professional is that it uses one of the most common business tools, Microsoft Excel, and shows how to apply this tool to real world problems. The accompanying CD ROM comes with TreePlan for developing decision trees and CrystalBall for Monte Carlo simulation, as well as workbooks that are used to support the plethora of realistic examples used throughout the book.

Although the book is business-oriented and better suited for operations analysis and MBA students and practitioners, I've used it as a reference for project planning, computer system capacity planning and performance analysis, and IT security risk management - these practical uses of the material show the value of the book in the real world. The supporting web site that the author maintains has materials for lesson plans, errata and additional resources that make this book particularly valuable for the academic and business environments.

If you like Star Wars, buy the ORIGINAL Episode One. The new movie is C**P! This is the first episode in the true series and anything before it is but marketing strategy, and a show of CGI chutzpah. Blech. Save your $$ and buy A New Hope!

Jean Craighead George is a beloved children's author of nature stories. I loved her My Side of the Mountain when I was young, my daughter adored Julie of the Wolves, and now my young son enjoyed this story of a young rhino. Not only does George manage to convey a lot of information about animal behavior in this entertaining story, but she is a master of the telling detail that shows she has really taken a close and loving look at rhinos. The illustrations are superb.

the first 4 books which covered A New Hope are among my fave SW items of all time. Empire and Jedi also do not disappoint... these are heaps better than all the other so-called SW "comics"... they actually capture the speed and action of the movies - if you are fan, BUY!

This Star Wars book was well done in it's premise of a photo comic book. The pictures were clear and not fuzzy, and the wording was pretty accurate to the movie. $9.00 I think is a bit high for the price of it but considering the ink and paper that it's made on it's worth the price.

It is an easy book for kids to read with out all the descriptions that go into a paperback book.

I am buying the other two in the series. The Empire Strikes Back and STar Wars:A New Hope.

This is it, the first three stories to hit the screen, though as we now know, actually four through six. Lucas always saw Star Wars as six episodes.

All of the original Star Wars movies between the covers of a book. Not only easy to read, but captivating in the reading. You just don't want to put them down, they keep pulling the reader into the story.

Cannot recommend enough for any and all enjoying the Star Wars saga. These are the first basic stories from which all the others flow.

Even at this late date Star Wars readers cannot afford to be without them.

Semper Fi.

More than a gaming book
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2007-04-29
First lets get down to the basics. This is supposed to be a sourcebook for a role playing game based on the Willow movie. The book itself is not a compete core rules kind of book. It's better. Not because it has more gaming information. Far from it. I like it better because it is a valuable resource of the history, characters, creatures and lands of the movie. Best of all for you "is it official?" crowd the book is 100% officially confirmed by LucasFilm (the dudes who made the movie).

Regarding the game side you essentially port Dungeon and Dragons style rules to the game and you're set. The book provides stats for characters and creatures as well as details on how spells work. It's not a wealth of gaming knowledge, but then again that's not makes this game sweet.

The real meat and potatos of this book is the background information you get on the world of Willow. I mean you get just about anyting you can think of. You get detailed histories of all the major characters (Willow, Madmartigan, Bavmorda, and much more) as well as several minor characters. You get comprehensive backgrounds on the various monsters and races too (trolls, brownies, death dogs, and more). You get all of that and more.

The book was written by Allen Varney, who has written game books for Mage: The Ascention, Paranoia, Dungeons and Dragons, and Marvel Heroes. The book is published by Eric Goldberg Associates, who are known for game books like Paranoia and stuff like kid's toys. Finally the book is distributed by Tor Books, who is a big name in science fiction and fantasy books. How can you go wrong with a combination like that?

If you are a fan of the movie this book is a definite must, and not because you can play a pencil and paper game based on the movie. This book is as good as any Star Wars or Star Trek book that details their respecive universes. If you are a fan of fantasy settings than, of course, this book is worth getting for the same reasons stated above.
