We got this for my 6-year-old daughter. She has used it well. There are so many things to do in the book that she hasn't gotten bored. We haven't had much luck finding washable stamp pads that easily wash off her fingers though! Her stained fingers are worth it though!!

I'd Give it Two Thumbs Up!

As a homeschooling mom of a preschooler and first grader, I am always looking for things that are appropriate for a wide variety of age levels. The Complete Funprint Drawing Book is perfect for homeschool art! The directions are simple enough for my just-turned-four year old to follow, but the endless variety of things to make is interesting enough for my six (and a half) year old. I am looking into more Ed Emberly books to add to our homeschool art resource collection.

This book is a definite addition to any parent's resource library on AS. It is comprehensive and has so much to offer, that it can't be digested in one read. It must be referred to over and over again. Should be purchased for pediatricians, school counselors and anyone who comes in frequent contact with your AS child. The entire family should read this to better understand the AS child.

Don't read this book if you're not the adventurous type. However, if you're like me and you didn't get an exotic vacation this summer, sail away for a few hours on the The Restitution. Take a mental vacation with a quiet place to relax, a slice of fresh fruit, and a soft breeze. Just a word of warning, once you get your sea legs, you won't want to walk on dry land.

Lady Isabel Ashton is uptight and misguided. Spurned by her family because of her illegitimate son, she strives to recapture her old life. However, when her baby is kidnapped, she takes a journey that transforms her from victim to victor.

Captain Kent Carlton hasn't stopped looking for Lady Isabel even though he knows her family would never agree to the match. Unaware of their child's existence, he gives up a pirate's bounty for treasures he never knew existed.

Carve out some time - this perilous, adventurous tale will take you on a journey you won't regret.

I just finished reading The Restitution and it is a page turner that you can't put down. I read a lot, but this book has so many twists and turns that you can't stop reading until the book is finished. The history of pirates is intriguing and how they dealt with life and each other. M. Tyndall does an excellent job of bringing that history to life! The Restitution (Legacy of the King's Pirates #3)

M.L. Tyndall writes of pirates and romance in all of her books. I have read The Reliance and The Redemption. Fans of those books will love The Restitution.
Lady Isabell Ashton is a bit spoiled. I do not particular like her at first. She has a baby with a pirate, Kent. The baby is kidnapped. Will they overcome their emotional difficulties to find the baby?
Tyndall writes Christian romance, and The Restitution is no different. The underlying theme of God's grace and forgiveness is woven throughout this book. Romance, a not-so-difficult to figure out mystery, and romance--it is here in The Restitution.

The joy of reading this book, the third in the Legacy of the King's Pirates Series, is matched by the contented sigh when you finish it and the sorrow that there is not one more coming. Often, sequels are not as good as the original book. If that is what holds you back from this one, ignore it. MaryLu Tyndall has mastered the art of telling the story in a sequel and making it better than its predecessor.

Lady Isabel Ashton returned home from her captivity only to be shunned by her own people, her own family. After giving birth to her son, Frederick, the product of a pirate's attack, she is on her own. Even so, she clings to the hope of marrying a nobleman and restoring her position in society. Then her precious child is kidnapped.

Captain Kent Carlton, desires nothing more than Isabel's forgiveness and searches for her. He finds nobleman, Richard Sawkins and information concerning not only the birth of Fredrick, his son, but also the kidnapping. Kent determines to find his son and return Frederick to his mother and perhaps win her heart in the process. But what if it costs him his entrance into the Brethren of the Coast?

Isabel's young faith is tested as she watches the man who ravished her risk everything to save her and find their son. Can such an evil man change? Is her faith strong enough to be all she lives on? Which treasure on earth will she hold, money and position or love and hope?

MaryLu Tyndall has outdone herself. In some ways, you may like this book better than the first. Sit down to read this and taste the salty air, smell the seaports and feel the action as page by page you travel into a world of pirates, deception, love, and faith

Loved it!!

What can a say . . . I absolutely loved THE RESTITUTION! I waited anxiously for its release and was not disappointed. The third in the Legacy of the King's Pirates series, by M.L. Tyndall has it all. From captivating characters to a wonderful storyline that unfolded with incredible surprises, THE RESTITUTION was exhilarating. I could not put it down!

THE RESTITUTION unfolds as Lady Isabel Ashton finds out her illegitimate son, the result of the treacherous act of a rogue pirate, is kidnapped. She is horrified and desperate to find her son. But when Captain Kent Carlton, the pirate that ravished her offers his help she is perplexed in what she should do. She will do anything to get back her son, but can she subject herself to the terror she feels just being in his presence?

Captain Kent Carlton is anything but the treacherous pirate that once forced himself upon Lady Ashton. When he finds out her son . . . his son has been kidnapped by his enemy as a form of retribution, he offers his help, his ship, and anything else Lady Ashton wants, hoping he can show her that he's changed.

The rest is a wonderfully woven together story of fear, hurt, hate, love, and forgiveness.

Kimberly McCall's book, Sell it, Baby! is wonderfully refreshing--a pocket-sized guide to marketing your business from A to Z.

"Sell It, Baby!" has something for every small business owner or marketing professional. Pick and choose from a menu of sales and marketing offerings, everything from "Born Again: How Brands Get a Second Shot at Consumer Love" to "Top Five Traits You Gotta Have to Sell" (my favorite and not just because I'm quoted!)

"Sell It, Baby!" can be read in tasty bites. Pick it up, read an article for information, inspiration or simply because it's well written, then go back to whatever you were doing before. More than likely, however, you'll find yourself quickly returning for another bite!

Sell it, Baby! is a quick and enjoyable read filled with real world, practical advice on marketing, branding and sales. It is particularly strong in its sales management advice, clearly drawing from Kimberly's sales management experience. This book addresses the real issues that sales and marketing professionals face day-in and day-out versus the academic theories or models on which many sales and marketing books seem to focus. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is in sales management or aspires to be. I also recommend it for marketers. You will enjoy the read and will learn something that you can apply to your own career success.

This book is a must for anyone interested in selling, marketing, and/or branding. It provides a structured step-by-step process for applying total brand management to your own product, no matter what it is. The language is clear, the examples get right to the point--and best of all, the book gets right to the point. I personally can't stand books where you have to weed through pages of fluff to get to the part you want to read.

What I also liked is that Kimberly doesn't talk down to the reader. Some people flaunt their expertise, and sound arrogant as they try to give their readers advice. It's grating, and those are the books I usually put down after a few pages, no matter how knowledgeable the author is. But Kimberly has a lively writing style, and appears to enjoy sharing her expertise--without that arrogance or tone of superiority that is often prevalent in these types of books.

It's an unfortunate irony that the field of marketing and communications is littered with so many "how-to" books that are unfocused and unclear. "Sell It, Baby!" provides an antidote - it's a concise collection of marketing tips and tricks that's divided by subject and easy to read. McCall calls herself a business cynic - "think Andy Rooney with lots of hair and a great handbag collection," she says - and how can you resist a writer like that? Her breezy book is packed with valuable nuggets for the novice and expert alike.

While it's definitely written in laymen's terms, it is not a 'dummie' or overly simplified book. She stresses safety and organization, but at the same time she is very encouraging. She also provides valuable resource info for soap calcs, suppliers, and the like. She also includes a few recipes to get your feet wet with. I particularly enjoyed this book. I ended up reading this one after I read the prequel due to a scarcity of the copies of this novella. Very easy to read, grotesque with plenty of dark humor and not quite as vignetty as I had expected it would have been. I'm waiting to see what else there may be to the stories of Susanna, Linda and Trinity. I will be getting the third book when it comes out. :)

I'm finding this a facinating book to read if only in terms of looking at how the Earth actually works and all the little details which seem to need to be just right in order to have a stable biosphere.

While tackling some very technical issues, and being packed with enormous amounts of information, the book remains very readable.

The only thing infuriating about this book (and it's not the books fault) is that it will force me to rethink the a world I was planning as it clearly appears to be implausible.

Some would argue that this is evidence that it is a barrier to creativity but I beg to differ, a reallity check will force me to be more creative to get the story effects which I want. Even then at the end of the day just because I know the theories about how world work doesn't mean that I can't ignore them if so doing suits my purpose. The only difference will be that I'll know I'm ignoring them. In the end it is better to break the rules on purpose then to do so accidentally.

This book is interesting enough, and a page-turner, but I thought it read more like a silly movie that glorifies war rather than a serious memoir. Although I know these men were there, and it provides some real insight into what they went through and the bond between the men there, it really did not stand out to me as a very good book.

Don Ericson and John L. Rotundo are truly American heroes. They served their country for 3 years with tenacity and courage. This book provides a realistic and heart felt story of the 75th Rangers, (LRPS) in the VIETNAM WAR. From the carnage of a jungle ambush to the love the men shared for one another, CHARLIE RANGERS is the best war book any person can read. It tells of the lives and war experiences of the authors, including their training. These men displayed acts of courage, bravery, and often pure hatred for the enemy. This book is not for the peace loving hippie I might add. The soldiers in CHARLIE RANGERS often mutilated bodies, cut off ears, and showed signs of slight insanity. One must understand that this is what happens in war, because war isn't a happy thing. "WAR IS DELIGHTFUL AND EXITING TO THOSE WHO HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED IT"

I found this book to be very informative as to what it was actually like to be in the bush. I did find it very disturbing that Mr. Rotundo could put down another Ranger Unit as he did with K Co. of which I was a member of and was in An Khe the same time John was there. I can assure John that when we went out during that time the teams that I went out with were making contact. Most missions were set for 4 to 5 days and most of the time we were back within 2 days due to our teams initiating contact and getting confirmed kills, even through as John stated we were primarily 4 man teams sent out for recon purposes and not as ambush teams. John looks familiar to me from the picture in the book, I also had the utmost respect for the guys in Charlie Co. and had no problem looking them in the eye and saying hello as I walked by. I also thought they had the same respect for me as a fellow Ranger but I guess I was wrong. Outside of this portion of the book I thought it was very good and strongly recommend it.

A great book about commandos hunter-killer teams behind enemy lines.

This book is a page turner describing the experience of the two authors' tour in Vietnam as members of a Rangers company. It's full of detailed missions where they were inserted right behind enemy lines inside the Vietnamese jungle, sometimes as members and other times as leaders of small 6 persons hunter-killer teams that specialized in ambushing and killing the North Vietnamese guerrillas.

This book is almost up there with others great LRPs(long range patrol) books like "SOG: The Secret Wars of America's Commandos in Vietnam", I totally recommend it if you like non-fiction special forces books.

Most books about collecting have lovely photos and dull text. This is an exception! Friedman's text is fun and helpful, with photos used as examples.

I've read CR twice so I'm actually giving it 10 stars

I own a massive library of books on every imaginable collecting subject and none has given me more joy than "Chasing Rainbows". Barry Friedman has intertwined his vast knowledge of Indian blankets, American history, the antiques business and garnished the result with a unique sense of humor and breathtaking photos to create a book that is an absolute gem. This is a great book from a very gifted man.

I love this book. She has managed to put two stories--one from the past and one current--into one intricately-woven romantic tale set in a Bed and Breakfast in France. Partner that with interesting characters and food you want to eat off the page, well, that's even better! I can't point to just one thing I like most about the book. I've given this book as a gift many times, because I just really like it all.

Another engaging Siri Mitchell novel!

This book tells the story of Frederique Farmer, the American owner of a French chateau. It also delves into the story of the fifteenth century owner of the castle. The modern-day story is colorful and mysterious and tantalizingly romantic. The "historical" journal excerpts at the end of each section can be difficult to read because of the language and spelling used, but they add more color and flavor - awakening the reader to recall stories of King Arthur and Merlin and Tristan and Isolde.

Ms. Mitchell's writing style is smooth as silk and easy to digest. Her incorporation of Christian themes is so integral to the plot, that they cannot be separated from the story without diminishing it. This is a wonderful book for a hot summer day by the pool, a lazy afternoon in a hammock, or even bundled up in front of a fireplace with a cup of cocoa. Don't let the size of this book intimidate you. The pages almost turn themselves.

Frederique Farmer is a widow who lives in France and is the owner of an exclusive bed and breakfast. She is picky about who she chooses to stay there, offering the best service, but keeping her distance from her guests. But then all that changes when an American writer comes to stay longer than Frederique had originally intended. Robert Cromwell begins to chip away at Frederique's shell trying to draw out who she was before her husband died. The 200 year old diary of the former comtesse of the chateau brings in history with a touch of mystery into Frederique's life.

I had read and enjoyed The Cubicle Next Door so I wanted to go back and read the rest of Siri's books. I picked up this one because I love books about France. Something about that country is just so magical to me. The descriptions in this book about the country really make me want to go visit it one day. I liked how this story focused on the quiet countryside as opposed to big city Paris. This book was especially intriguing with the double storyline blending historical fiction with modern storyline. It was reminiscent of Angela Hunt's Heirs of Cahira O'Connor series. I really liked learning about the history of the chateau with Alix's story. Her tale seems so tragic because she was at such a young age when everything happened to her. Frederique's story is interesting and tragic as well. She seems to be such a soft spoken character that likes having everything in place and with a routine. Then this guy comes into her life and makes her want to change. I didn't like Severine from the beginning. Her character felt like she was a good person although the story did keep me wondering what she was up to throughout the whole book. The story does start off a bit slow but once the reader gets deeper into the story, it just flows naturally. This book has it all from mystery to history to romance, a perfect blend of European culture for the reader who likes to travel from their armchair.

Siri Mitchell's character driven book tantalises the senses and challenges the mind with a beautiful portrayal of a women given a second chance at life and love in the picturesque north of France.
Frederique Farmer finds herself suddenly widowed while residing in Paris and in a desperate attempt to reinvent herself buys Chateau de Kertanuan, a fifteenth century castle in Brittany, which she painstakingly restores. She establishes an exclusive Bed and Breakfast, revelling in a reclusive lifestyle and her newfound mastery as a cook of french cuisine. During the restoration process Freddie discovers a medieval chest containing journals written from 1459 to 1462 by a young woman, Alix de Montot, a former comtesse of the castle, which attracts the attention of celebrity author, Robert Cranwell. Cranwell wishes to write a book regarding the life of the comtesse while residing in the castle where she lived centuries before. Freddie has carefully constructed walls around her heart and despite fearing the intrusion of Cranwell and disbelieving the rumours of his recent conversion, agrees to a six month stay.

Freddie and Cranwell slowly become acquainted simply by their proximity but the relationship is hindered by Freddie's prejudiced view of his character and Cranwell's struggle to break free from his past self-indulgent lifestyle. A centuries old mystery surfaces and intrigue soon envelopes them as unexplained happenings and deliberate sabotage affect the Chateau, their fledgling relationship and faith journey.

The author lived in France for many years and her knowledge of the culture and cuisine give the book authenticity and fascinating detail. The excerpts of Alix's journal throughout the book are both enlightening and charming, giving the story a unique feel. The characters are beautifully written, drawing the reader into their emotions and struggles as they seek to recover from past loss stemming from both tragedy and unwise choices. Be prepared to read long into the night and feel the need to make a reservation at your closest French restaurant!

I must be the only one who didn't think this book was wonderful. The story was nice. I enjoyed the excepts from the 14th century journals. The characters were all right. But Ms. Mitchell's writing kind of set my teeth on edge. It seems that the only thing she ever details are the clothing that everyone is wearing! Instead of just saying, "I went up to my room and changed into black pants and a sweater" she takes up entire paragraphs with descriptions like "I went upstairs and changed into slim, black pants and a black boatneck, high brand name sweater and black shoes that my late husband had purchased for me when we went to Switzerland." She describes Cranwell's clothing obsessively - rust colored courduroy pants, gray courduroy pants, brandy colored turtleneck sweaters that brought out the color of his eyes.... I was beginning to believe that he was gay. It's not that I don't care what everyone is wearing, I was just getting tired of every single situation that these characters found themselves in being bogged down in the details of their clothing! Surely there are more important things in a story like this than the fashion!

As for the story, well, it's typical Christian fiction with different characters and a different setting. What I wouldn't give for some Christian author to break the mold and be daring enough to have their characters do something bold! Instead, the two main characters of 'Chateau', Freddie and Cranwell, do very little except debate theology in the kitchen, cook and take walks. The so-called 'intrigue' on the back of the book is Freddie's assistant, Severine's erratic behavior and obsession with finding a lost artifact that proved the chateau's mistress was Jewish. Freddie starts to notice that little things in her home are coming up missing or being moved in a strange way. That's not intrigue, it's an annoyance. It's also boring.
I noticed that someone described this book as historical fiction. It's not. The excerpts from the 14th century journal are, but the story is not. It takes place in modern time, and aside from the fact that takes place in a castle and one of the characters is writing a historical novel, there is nothing 'historical fiction' about this book.

As I started to write this review, I almost liked this book. I was going to give it three stars. Now that I've considered it a little longer, I've come to the conclusion that I really didn't like this book at all. Sorry to all you readers out there who gave it five stars and thought it was wonderful historical fiction, but I didn't think so. I know you will all probably say that this review isn't helpful and whatnot in anger against my opinion, but that's your opinion. This is how I honestly feel about this book. When I finished it last night, I was half convinced that it was okay, but not great. Now, I really know that I didn't like it, and this book will definitely be in my next garage sale.
